Ive always loved your work since I first saw you on Tabletop Minions. Im excited to watch this channel grow and become absolutley huge! So much knowledge, thankyou for sharing it with us and helping us become better painters!
An interesting technical point for me is that the highlighting on the design goes further around the fold than that on the base cloth, while the edge of the shadow is the same for both. I conclude that the design you are drawing is embroidered rather than printed, and so (in real life) has a succession of raised edges which catch the light at shallow angles! Relative illumination effects are fascinating.
Always inspiring viewing, you are really helping me to break out of that 'paint by numbers' mentality that I've been stuck in over my first few years painting. Keep em coming!
Still trying to get good at nmm, but after that freehand will be the next big thing I'll try to improve on. Thanks a lot for the valuable info in your videos, it's really inspiring and motivating!
@@SamLenzArtwork Sam, will you be doing any Dwarves or Minotaurs anytime soon? I also agree with you, I use Frank Frazetta books for inspiration and use of color. I’m also just getting into the hobby and you have been a great inspiration to me. I would love to see you paint a Deathdealer miniature however, they are a bit pricey.
@@SamLenzArtwork I completely agree. It helps me stay in a calm state and helps me with my ptsd from my time in the ARMY. Its ironic that warhammer 30k and 40k my favorite franchise helps me deal with my experiences with death when warhammer is so focused on war and death. Lol best hobby ever.

Brilliant as usual! A small advice however, it seems that you have a lot of electrical noise in your audio (the 'shhhhh', it's also called fried noise :). I don't know your video/audio setup but I would recommend to preprocess the audio using a high pass filter in an audio editor, e.g. Audacity has one, with a cutoff frequency around 50/60 Hz, before including the audio. I think it would give a more professional feel to your videos without more cost. peace!
Yarr, I'm still figuring out the technical stuff. I've added a noise filter to my recording set up, a longer cord for the mic will help too. One step at a time!
@@SamLenzArtwork ok, good luck with all that stufff :) however, a longer cord will add more noise. if possible, try to find one of good quality and short but with enough length to be practical. Also, I listened to your interview in the murder basement. I do not comment regularly on youtube but I like both of your videos very much and watch them ASAP. They helped me deepened my understanding of painting and helped me to get over some rough times. So please, continue.
"Your illustrative talent will directly impact your ability to create this kind of design" was such a very nice sounding way to crush my dreams lol
Haha, I believe in you!
Durer! What a wicked reference. You're a true artist Sam!
Haha, I do what I can. Albrecht is the real artist here.
I absolutely love Dürer's artwork. He also happens to be a favourite of my mum's, which makes gift shopping more enjoyable than it might be.
Haha, your mom is cool!
Never thought to shade over freehand after it was sketched out. Great video!
Thanks, Logan!
Right! I've always just avoided free hand because of the fiddly shading and highlighting. Not any more! My Tau are gonna go full epic!!

Thank you so much! Plenty more on the way and once covid clears out, I'll be making videos with Atom again as well. Take care!

It's always nice to see the master at work! Well done sir!
Thanks, Peter, more to come!
Awesome freehand! very good info thanks a bunch!
You're welcome good buddy!

Glad to hear that, Robert! More on the way!
nice work man, also great metallic green on the stormcast! cool to see something different
Thanks! That green was pretty simple, contrast paint over silver basically. I'll make a video on it :)
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Sam's pallet looks better than my models.

"If a man devotes himself to art, much evil is avoided that happens otherwise if one is idle. ". Doncha think? Thanks Sam!
Haha, I couldn't agree more. Glad I found a craft to focus on.

@@lawrenceinsley4114 Love me some dwarves and minotaur. Admittedly I don't have any on the way immediately though. I'll have to add that to the list!
really great job!
"Illustrative talent" he says. I completely lack illustrative talent😂😂 amazing work 👏👏
Thanks 😅
First like, then watch ! Great job :)
Haha, mighty kind of you, thanks!
In my country we call the guy "Durero". Just like we call Hieronymus Bosch "el Bosco". We be lazy like that.
Iam very interested in the metal is it a tmm sheen or just the finish?
His armor? It was a basecoat of silver, some mild black shading, and then a coat of dark angels green contrast paint. Cheers!

Wonderful video, but bloody hell... should come with a health warning for people who can speak even a minimum of German.
Haha, no warnings in the danger zone. Thanks and sorry 😂
