This clip reminds me what live music sounds like...back in the good ol' days when there were real artists, confident enough in their talent to play live.
The great Matthew Sweet and the late great Robert Quine. Let see Quine has played with the Voidoids, Lou Reed, Lloyd Cole and Matthew Sweet -- that is some resume.
This is cool, the great Robert Quinne on guitar. Too bad the sound people screwed up and had his guitar turned down in the mix to where you could hardly hear it.
That's not Peter Holsapple, It's Murray Attaway who was in the Athens band Guadalcanal Diary. They probably met in Athens where Sweet lived for a short while - and was briefly in a band, Oh-Ok, with Linda Stipe, sister of Michael. That info and $1.93 will get you a small coffee.
Weird. Just saw this and thought exact same thing. Peter holsapple. 80's/90's jangle pop still the sh*t. Although i must admit db's not as good on re listen visits 30 years later. Didnt quite hold up as well as other imo. Love Miller's radio show now.
I had Peter Holsapple comment on the “Girlfriend” clip from the same show where I suggested in the comments it was he on guitar, that it most assuredly was not him and it was Murray Attaway.
The only good thing about this insipid show belonging to the insipid Denrod Mula is that his producers booked good acts. But as we all know his insipidness got the show cancelled. Maybe if it was 60 minutes of music he would still be relevant stooge
Just remembered why Girlfriend was one of my favorite albums of the 90's.
The perfect antidote to pop, metal and rap, real alt rock of the 90’s. Matthew Sweet - “I’ve Been Waiting” truly stands the test of time.
Music being played by musicians using musical instruments. What a concept.
Anyone here for Matthew Sweet? :)

Awesome song. Great performance.
Incredible pop gem!
Just a great song that makes you feel good
If you don't get how completely awesome this clip is, you are beyond help, frankly.

Is he the one who played on Lou Reed's Rock n Roll Animal? The intro for Sweet Jane? If that's him he's awesome. And he's great here too.
What a cv
@@recordplayr That was Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter.
@@recordplayr yes. Absolutely!!
I find that Sweet fans are also REM fans
the late great Robert Quine on guitar.

Quine
Great older footage. Thanks for sharing.
it was RARE for late night to let a music act to go 4 min. they knew
Ah, way back when pop music was good
QUINE!

I remember Guadalcanal diary. I would definitely spring for a large coffee for that piece of info!
The "Inconceivable!" guy from "The Princess Bride" sure can shred!
hahaha, good one. It's too bad the sound guy didn't turn his guitar up a little louder in the mix though.
Really appreciate you posting this.
Oh man, Peter Holsapple, Robet Quine, Pat Mastelotto, and Sara Lee.
Dennis Miller lives in my toilet paper.
Downtown New York City guitar.
Is that Peter Holsapple on guitar/harmony?
Quine's excellent!
Murray Attaway from the great Guadalcanal Diary on acoustic.
I think that IS Sarah Lee on bass...
Stop talking about politics. This is power pop.
What a gem and only 35,000 views
Sad that there are not more views & comments

Wait, is that Pat Mastelotto on drums?
He's in Austin now

Pretty positive that it isn't Holsapple.

@iagobroxado Me, I'm here for Quine. But Matt can come along, I guess.
Sadly, it's a pandemic.
So many good bands got passed over in the 90’s. The Fly’s? They had success and they sucked.
Good night teenagers. A camouflaged rip off of david lBetter Host.
Oh look Dennis Miller still sucks in 3023
