    I’m finally excited about a natural deodorant. That took a minute; while the benefits of an aluminum free deodorant are substantial, I'm not so much with the two week transition period wherein I smell like a foot before the natural stuff kicks in. Also, baking soda blends are irritating to a sensitive and sweaty part of your body (you know, your underarms), so it took some recipe tweaking to figure out a great deodorant that not only works but doesn't contain baking soda. And it's HERE!
    This deodorant has an added bonus: it's packaging free!
    Here's how that works: you can use your solid deodorant as is, in cube form, or you can put it in a heat safe container, melt it down in 30 second bursts, and pour it into a deodorant container of your choosing! Turn a single use plastic into a multi-use, or buy one of those fancy hipster reusable deodorant tubes. Your call, really.
    You can find the natural, baking soda free, aluminum free, etc solid deodorant options on the website!

    Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
    Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
    Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

    Bees are one of the most important creature in the world. To keep them alive and well, we need to support bees keepers. Yes, of course there are “wild” bees but not enough. When they make homes within our homes, they need removed. They don’t normally get released back into the wild. They normally are destroyed or taken to a bee keeper. Responsible bee keepers are the stewards of bees, ensuring that they are disease and pest free and have safe places for their hives. Buying honey or wax from local bee keepers that are taking great care of their hives is far more beneficial to bees than boycotting them. Not trying to reprimand anyone, I’m just offering food for thought.

    • @jaytee3baxter
      @jaytee3baxter Рік тому +5

      Agreed. Boycotting beeswax does nothing to help honeybees. Stop spraying your garden or buying produce that has been sprayed. Wild bees are just as important as pollinators, they just don't produce was.

    Amazing. I did days of research to see what I could use diatomaceous earth for because I *knew* it had to have done kind of awesome benefit for skin, but I could only find internal use. I use it for storing my flours and grains to keep the buggies out. I'm completely fascinated by this application for it. I also love the packaging free thing. I used those "deodorant salt crystal" things for years back in my twenties, but eventually my skin got so sensitive that I couldn't use anything at all. Lots of hope, here, Chantine. Funny, the closed captions translated "Hi, I'm Mrs. Soap and Clay" to "hi, I'm vicious okay."
    Love that you showed a baking soda free version, I made some with it and it worked great but caused my hubby to break out. I also tried Turmeric in one formulation because duh, all the fantastic properties it has... Yeah my bra is still stained yellow 🤣

      😂 The Soaprentice is always sending me funny subtitles, too. I really need to go key them in proper like, but that’s an extra hour of editing for each video. 😭 Yeah the baking soda version didn’t work for my underarms either - breakouts in your armpits are less fun than one would think.

    It doesn’t stain the white t shirt in the armpits area?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  5 місяців тому

      No more than using a lotion on any part of your body. The reason shirts get underarm stains has a lot to do with the antiperspirant compounds in a deodorant that trap dirt and dead skin cells on the shirt, making it difficult to clean without prewash methods or a water softener such as sodium carbonate.

    • @ilovenatureforever7003
      @ilovenatureforever7003 5 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for answer. I asked you this because I saw that in the formulation of your recipe you used hemp oil, with an intense color, something that could stain white T-shirts in the armpit area.
      I use my own deodorant recipe that is very effective against the smell of sweat. As an extreme test, I wore a synthetic mountain blouse, without merino wool content, for two weeks, in the cold season, without developing any unpleasant odor. I also did tests in the summer, when at the end of a hot day, I didn't smell anything.
      However, I noticed that white t-shirts get stained in the armpit area and, although the stains come out easily with a regular wash at 40 degrees, without special preliminary preparations, it is still an unpleasant visual aspect.
      I specify that I have a fairly healthy diet, being a vegan, and after applying the deodorant, I leave it for a few minutes to penetrate the skin and then I put on my white t-shirt.
      I tried not to use colored oils, strong yellow butters, colored essential oils, vitamin E (which has a pronounced yellow color), Candelilla wax (brownish) in my formula.
      I would be very grateful if you could give me some tricks to improve or modify my recipe (described below) for reducing the stains on the white t-shirt.
      - purified butters: mango + kokum
      - fractionated coconut oil
      - purified beeswax
      - corn starch
      - kaolin clay
      - sodium bicarbonate
      - zinc oxide
      - essential oils: palmarosa and eucalyptus globulus
      Thank you in advance for your answer !

      I don’t see why not, but I don’t play with coconut wax much.

    I would love to try this alternative, but I'm worried about the results on a drug test. I did some research online, it states too hemp oil will cause a positive result on a drug test. 😬 I love everything else about this deodorant though, from packaging, product form, even reasonable price.

    • @HookedOnSuds
      @HookedOnSuds 2 роки тому +4

      You con not test positive on a drug test because of hemp seed oil. It has zero THC, which is what would make you test positive. You can buy Hemp Seed Oil at the grocery store.

      @@HookedOnSuds you are 100% right. I use hemp oil for a lot of my cosmetic products in Canada. it is legal. In the U.S. I think they have a regulation that a cosmetic product can contain only a certain $ of hemp content. I have bought hemp based products from U.S.

      Cool, thanks for your perspective! Beeswax is still a toss up in the vegan world, however, and we all do life and make choices for said lives and things we are focused on a bit differently. Like, for example, I chose to be kind and respectful to another human being in my comment. And you chose the opposite. It’s a moment, and not a good one.
