And in Neil fashion the bow was for maybe 10 seconds and he was out of there lol If you watch Alex facial expression you could see the disappointment in his face when Neil took off because he was so excited Neil was up there and he probably knew it could of been another moment like the Hall of Fame ovation. Geddy didn’t realize it at first and as soon as he did Neil was gone like the Flash lol It would have been special either way. If Neil had stayed up there a little longer it would have been great but I think it was perfect the way he went up for only a few seconds because it was just so fitting of Neil and fit a lot of his lyric themes such as time stand still. Perfect snapshot of all 3 of them in the front of the stage is just as memorable as the hall of fame induction.
He moves pretty fast for a 59-year-old man (at the time) dealing with the pain of arthritis and getting older. This was 2012, just 3 yrs before he laid down his drumsticks for the last time.
The Clockwork Angels tour holds a VERY special place in my heart- it was my first Rush tour! I saw two shows on that and two on R40. I'm thankful for the fact I got to see them every day.
My first was also clockwork angels! I saw that tour when I was in 4th grade and R40 I was in 6th grade. Crazy to think it was so long ago - I’m now a junior in college!
I was lucky to see THE WORLDS GREATEST 3 PIECE ORCHESTRA 21 TIMES my first was HEMISPHRERS tour Saw them every tour after seeing once. Even got NEIL PEARTS autograph, though their not around, still my favorite band aways will be, Isaw GEDDY at his effinbook release in December in CHICAGO. ROCK ON RUSH RULES🥁🎸🎸🎙🎼🎵🎶
After a Virginia show, we once followed the bus and the little trailer as it headed North. We weren’t trying to, but that’s the direction that we were goin’ - AND it was haulin’ ass! We were just drafting!
1) Geddy clearly says "Dallas, TX" 2) The Clockwork Angels DVD is mostly footage from Dallas. 3) I was there. I saw it live, and it actually was a bit annoying. They had the cameras covering the show from about FIFTEEN ANGLES, at times blocking our view. But what a show. Took my son. It was the last of about 20 Rush concerts that I saw over the years. A huge piece of my life. Sadly over.
Back in the 80,s largo Maryland cap center I was in love with girl who loved rush. I bought 13 tickets for all our friend in nose bleed seats stood in line for hours before they opened. Then after I bought them they added a show guy behind me got 4th row. Then I lost tickets had to buy two more for just her an me. Moral to story don't use drugs lol . I saw Elvis at cap center kiss bob seger zztop that place was great. Pavilion in Manassas is great but good seats run out fast an if I gonna be on lawn not see band I will listen in my living room. Peace
The band doesn't load in/load out their gear; they have roadies and technicians for that. Once the band is done performing, they're either in the dressing room, or put in a shuttle bus to the hotel so they can shower, eat, etc. Then, depending on the schedule, the band either spends the night in the hotel, or goes on the bus. The road crew stays behind, clearing away everything belonging to the band and pertaining to the show, and loaded onto buses and/or trailers. The crew more than likely has their own bus, and Neil's drums, and the rest of the instruments/lights/gear will travel with them. Hope that helps!
Because these guys, although amazing musicians and creative geniuses were NOT rock stars. There were no afterparties, no autograph sessions, no load out for them. They were ALL BUSINESS, and the camper & tour bus had to take off while Geddy was still on stage talking so they could make a clean getaway. Geddy could then sneak out in an unmarked car and meet up with them at an agreed-upon destination. They had to get out before anybody would run to the backstage area, and nearly no one would do that until the show was finally over. I learned that in 1983 when I scored "Signals" backstage passes and the only party that was happening was the crew tearing down the stage - LOADS of fun! 🤣😉
Neil liked to ride from venue to venue on his motorcycle. The bikes, and gear were in the little trailer. He usually had a buddy with him. They'd have the driver haul ass to a Walmart or parking lot some distance away from the last venue. Somewhere they could park overnight. They'd have dinner, drinks and plan out the ride for the following day. Neil wasn't fond of riding at night so the overstay was a must.
@@skykoAs far a as I know, there were many "meet and greets" and autograph sessions with Alex and Geddy. They did that part because they were good at it and didn't mind.
No wonder whys hes getting the hell out of there as fast as possible he had people running ad fast as they could after them to get photos and videos and to invade on his personal life geddy and alex like it a lil bit but neil absolutely hated and rush was never the flashy band well i mean there music is GODLIKE but they stay true to themselves and kinda just wear whatever
I would have much preferred far less to zero touring. And certainly no R30, no Feedback, no Time Machine, and no R40 tour in favour of two more studio albums. But I’m in the minority and everyone insisted on seeing Rush live in their 60s.
Neil wanted to do this exact same thing back in the 80's, play on the albums and then let Geddy and Alex Tour with someone else, but decided that the reason for making a Album was to tour. Have you seen the Dinner video, they were going to tour without a album. I agree though, RUSH had no reason to stay on the road after the tragedy and comeback. But in a way, that cemented their legacy, those three tours kept them alive and relevant and probably got them in the RnRHoF. Geddy's Voice had been gone for a while, it's painful to watch him on those last few tours. Pete Townsend asked Geddy what they were up to and he said they had a new album, Pete's reply was, is there any money in that anymore?
i know for a fact neil loved the fans too, this was simply a signature thing for him to do and honestly it was quite humble of him to do it at the end of the shows, if you look at the video he happily waves to the crowd before absolutely bolting off
Mr. Peart definitely seems to have been a classic introvert, I agree. Also, anxiety is a real thing and he wrote about having anxiety about people. Unfortunately, there were some people who reenforced that fear by violating his boundaries. It's a bummer.
Neil was an amazing drummer, but he legitimately hated his fans, particularly the idea of meeting them. If you were a fan and you wanted to meet him, he didn’t want to meet you.
He didn't hate his fans, quite the opposite. He was just an introvert that was uncomfortable with the adulation. "I can't pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend" -NP
No he didn't hate his fans. He just didn't like the "limelight". Back in the early 80's, if you sent him a letter through Modern Drummer, he would personally send you a hand written post card response. Google it. I received two of them from him.
As good as Peart was I never got his penchant for snubbing his fans. The excuse is "well he's shy." Bullshit. That's not shyness. That's ass-holier-than-thou is what that is.
When he was a child, he was nearly drowned by strangers at a lake. He had trauma and mistrust of strangers from it. Ignorant and opinionated people like you are also the types he's afraid of.
Geddy's still talking and Neil is on the freeway on ramp! :)
Surprised he didn’t have his motorcycle unloaded and ready for him 🤣🤣
He always did that at the end of every show. wtf I miss these guys, the world is just not the same without them.
Except the very last one when he took a bow together with the other two. Such a legend ❤

Punching the time clock and getting the hell out of dodge.
I love this so much. I'd watch footage of him doing this every show
If I had a big fancy motorbike waiting for me to ride after work, I'd be out in a split second too.
Man on a mission...
That will always crack me up. he is literally trying to be on the road before Geddy is done talking and beat the traffic...and the people lol
I actually really understand why he did that.
Sadly, the Spears-Peart sprint-off can no longer take place.
Neither can Neil’s 😮😊
Glad to that... Just to that.
In the words of Ian Malcolm: when you gotta go, you gotta go.
Hey, when you gotta go,you gotta go!!

Geddy should of said, Neil has left the building at the end of each show

The problem with that idea is that Alex and Geddy *wanted* to tour. I understand your point, but I'm glad they got to.
Live performances is where the performers make money. They don’t make much from recordings.
