Lets be honest, the amount of work it takes to make AAA games has increased so much that there’s not enough time to do both sp & mp justice unless you split resources and accept one less from both.
Not every game has to be a AAA banger exclusive though. Thats where people get it confused. One reason why the PS2 era was so goated it cause devs took risk and tried anything. Multiplayer ain’t what it used to be. I remember going over to a friends house to play gears of war 2 multiplayer on a Friday night, and not leaving until 3am sometimes because we were so hooked. And playing battlefield 3 on PC and being in matches that would sometimes take a hour or more. I’m currently playing black ops Cold War multiplayer, which has been better after updates, but have to deal with sbmm. It’s just not the same anymore
Honestly gaming in general hasn’t been “fun” like it use to be. Ppl might hate to admit it but these studios get criticized for every little thing now with how social media is setup. Not saying games don’t have flaws but the creativity with video games are gone to me. Seems like everybody is just following what the next developer is doing to stay above water. 👎🏾
One of my fave memories is Halo multiplayer using RPG's only on the close quarter teleporter level. It was hilarious popping out firing and hopping back. The banter in lobbies was great.
Bro the editing and work that went into this video 👌 I haven't been playing multiplayer shooters much. Usually just play black ops cold war or cs:go if I want a comfort food version of an online shooter. Some of the shooters I spent a decent amount of time that I might go back to are. -Rogue Company -Rainbow six Siege -Paladins The thing that I hate most about modern shooters is that there is always a feeling of a paywall hidden somewhere. It just demotivates me to play the game.
I think games in general have gotten worse. There's a focus on cost and content versus actual quality of content. A game like Resident Evil 4 is like 14 hours but that shit is so fucking fun from front to back. I've replayed it so many times. Something like Fallout 4 may be technically impressive and have a ton of content, but is that content great? Nope. It's not just multiplayer games, it's the whole market.
Multiplayer as a whole is complete trash compared to years ago. In order to even have a good time you HAVE to be tethered to your friends because playing with idiotic/selfish randoms makes team based games unplayable. Back in the day one of the best experiences was actually playing with randoms, meeting and adding new people to your friends list. The social aspect of it is gone because of over toxicity and party chat.
Definitely agree with you on multiplayer games. Multiplayer games today have a lack of identity and being more of a cash grab. When you play Halo 3 multiplayer, it didn't feel the same as Modern Warfare 3 or a Red Dead multiplayer. Some games had identity like Overwatch, Fortnite, and Rainbow 6 Seige. But when it comes to trends in multiplayer, other devs just copy and paste other popular multiplayers which makes it over saturated and devalues the original concept.
This is pure facts, it’s like they use everyone’s competitiveness to make money, instead of making good games. There’s Nothing like some socom teamwork, or toxic lobbies on halo/cod that actually made you want to show out.
Halo 3 was the first mulriplayer game i ever played, never expierinced anything like it, the 4 player co op campaign, the game chat, custom games... endless fun....
Really liked the camera placement for this video Jeremy. I also liked this video idea, maybe you should do story modes for games now vs then. Would really like to watch something like that from you, Keep it up my brothah !
Haven't really played a multiplayer game that kept my interest like in the old days. I'm not into this battle royale shit and I tried all of them, not my style. 2k has been ass this year, 19 was the most recent I had fun on. I tried madden that is the only multiplayer game that kept my interest last year in 2020. But this year man idk I'm just waiting low key, would like to play MW2 again tbh cuz I have that itch for a fun multiplayer game that isn't battle royale. Back 4 blood looks fun but rn I'm looking to play mass effect for the first time hopefully that holds me over for a good number of months never played mass effect before so I'm looking forward to it.
shooters really don’t hit like they used to but part of me feels like i might have just grown out of the genre because these days i don’t even like playing shooters at all. they all play and feel the same to me and these predatory microtransactions and loot boxes don’t help either. since the beginning of last gen i’d much rather play any other genre of game instead of a shooter. this is why i wish ps5 had full backwards compatibility so that it would bring life back to these old shooters i used to play
I think one thing people fail to realize that’s had a huge affect on shooters in particular are Xbox live and PlayStation private party’s. Players are so often in party chat that people don’t interact nearly as much and meet new people . People will be in a party while on a shooter with their friend not even playing the same game . Removing that interactive experience and sh*t talking between players or even being able to talk to your own random teammates really hurts them imo
I think the trajectory of shooters is indicative of the trajectory of our society. People want streamlined experiences, which burn you out faster. Also the amount of money in gaming now doesn't incentivize developers to make games that can last super long. Hence all the purchasable add ons that you mentioned
Ace video brotha Jeremy. Back in the PS3 and 360 days I used to be on multiplayer quite a bit. But these days I barely if ever play any multiplayer anymore. Always thought I just grew out of multiplayer and while I do think that is part of it, a bigger part of it is just that these multiplayer games today don't interest me. MP just doesn't hit the same these days.
I agree with you %100 I literally don’t play games as much anymore now and sum games literally require you to have a pc and if you of a console sum games are hard to play
Im just not a fan of Battle Royale to keep in 100. And thats pretty much all these companies are doing with shooters. I honestly feel like there are some really good modes on Cold War...I know, i Know..its call of duty, but I think people just have COD fatigue after all these years, and rightfully so....but I've had fun with Cold War in faceoff mode and some of the seasonal modes they have. Im really just waiting on Factions 2 so I can play that the next 7 years. lol
First of all....i love u sucka! U are my favorite UA-camr of ALL TIME!! Now lemme start by saying im pretty much only a COD player when it comes to shooters. I think the problem with these games are #1 parties, #2 the MAPS, and #3 censorship. I remember in, i think it was mw2, there was an entire playlist that didnt allow parties. We need that back to make gaming fun again! We also need simplicity and not all that extra sh1t! Literally if they would release mw2 remastered multiplayer i would play it for another 3 years. I think little kids also play a major role in why gaming is the way it is today....sad times 🤦🏿♂️. Anyways, THANK U JEREMY for always brightening up my day! I literally watch and like EVERYTHING u put up. Its LOVE sucka! ❤️ THANK U!
i think a lot of these types of conversations are filled with nostalgia/revisionist history, people remember the good times & not the bad. its easier to remember the bad from the past few months/years then your childhood years. I still have so much fun with friends for hours on end playing some of these online games to this day
can you give me some examples of games today you're having fun for hours on end with?? I'm not even saying you're wrong. I feel your statement has truth to it
@@TheGamer2323 warzone has been that for the last year with a splash of valorant & before warzone, it was Blackout, & Fortnite took over my life from launch till Blackout released. I think another thing people don't realize is they probably miss the friends they used to play with where as my friends never really stopped playing games. Also multiplayer is a standard today, where as back then it was brand new, it was a lot more exciting. Shooters aside, I don't think people appreciate the variety of multiplayer games we have, back then it was just shooters & some fighters.
People are still playing the origonal doom and quake games, about 1000 concurrent players, which does not sound like alot compared to AAA, but AAA cant hold their gamers for more then 2 years, where as doom its been like over 30 years and still has people playing it. The halo saga on mcc still holds its users.
Man I almost thought it was just me that felt similar to this.. I wasn't sure if I started falling out of love for multiplayer shooter's or if they just aren't made like they used to be🤔
Soulless is a perfect way to describe it. The current multiplayer shooters out right now are just a bunch of boring, played out battle royales. I seriously don't understand how the genre hasn't died yet. It feels like the main objective of every multiplayer shooter is to keep you playing for as long as possible so they can sell you skins rather than actually making a game that's fun to play. The rise of extremely strict skill based matchmaking also makes it feel artificial in a way. You really don't know if you're actually getting better at the game or if you were just thrown in a lobby with thumb-less 8 year olds to keep you playing so you buy skins. The only multiplayer shooter I've had fun playing since Uncharted 4 is Due Process but it's just another Counter Strike/Siege elimination game. Its starting to feel like no multiplayer shooter will ever live up to games like MGO, Uncharted 2/3, TLOU Factions or Halo.
I'm not usually a shooter or fps type of guy , but I just started playing last of Us factions couple months ago and the Uncharted 4/Lost Legacy multiplayer man those are fun . I'm trying to get myself back into call of duty and also to play battlefield for the first time . Just recently bought like cod and battlefield game I was missing on consoles ( except cold war cause I'm waiting for it to get cheap then get it for PS5 . I bought black ops 3 and WW2 on eBay most came from other stores . All brand new as well . Around like 40 or 30 Canadian dollars each 😁 ) I wish there wasn't so much copy and pasting going on with some of these games . They start feeling like the same thing over and over again . Haven't played cod since like 2014 I think or 2015 . It's been a while lol. Hopefully we'll get some more creative shooters again . Wonder if Sony is making a brand new fps game that has a whole different take to it . I mean we got shooters like Killzone, resistance, last of Us and uncharted. All those multiplayers were amazing and best of all , basically different from what I've seen . Just recently bought all the Killzone and Resistance Games as well. Gonna be playing those for the first time too 😁 I have a huge gaming adventure for my self lol
I purchased mario kart 8 this past weekend to play with viewers on switch.......MY GOD I aint have this much fun in years as far as playing with viewers. Got me thinking bout splatoon. MY SWITCH WAS JUST A DUST COLLECTOR! LIKE 48 HOURS AGO
Honestly man I agree with you on this, it just isn't the same excitement that it was back then when one of your favorite shooter series was getting a new game. Now when it happens it's just oh yeah I forgot it's been a year since they released the last one but I think Battlefield 1 and V was as solid recent shooter that I've played. Right now I just stick with Bo1 and Bo2 Zombies and MP on PC because of the fun and great mods also DOOM.
I've been playing Rust recently and it's been a blast. It feels fresh, and it's nicely competative. "Matches" last about a week, where you can come and go as you please, so it's rewarding to have that continuous progression, rather than feeling like 20 minute rinse and repeat cycles. I'd highly recommend checking it out - it's crazy addicting.
Valid points I also think it came down to our free time and the friends/family we hooked up with to play. I'm more jrpg/rpg. Our things lately have been nobody wants to grind and turn based is archaic arguments
I definitely agree when I started playing multiplayer shooters it started with MW2 and Halo which open the door for other games like gears, left 4 dead etc. Now I find myself playing a lot of story drivin games which some our good and bad but I just lost the interest in multiplayer I'm not playing 2k or cold war all day it's just boring
After playing that Master Cheeks Collection I can honestly say I've had more fun playing halo than any current multiplayer game on the market. The feel of the games, match making, and playlists make it worth while. I agree when you make the point that the games offer more to different kinds of people. To me Halo is a game where you can play casually and if you are really feeling it, you could play competitive. Multiplayer shooters nowadays feel like you have to be forced to be good at the game to enjoy it like the new COD.

I haven't been playing multiplayer shooters much. Usually just play black ops cold war or cs:go if I want a comfort food version of an online shooter. Some of the shooters I spent a decent amount of time that I might go back to are.
-Rogue Company
-Rainbow six Siege
-Paladins
The thing that I hate most about modern shooters is that there is always a feeling of a paywall hidden somewhere.
You have answered why im getting board of current shooter games. I feel like im forcing myself to play them instead of having fun playing them.
I miss uncharted 3 so bad
Thanks for making content for us gamer! One of my best youtubers so far! Keep ya head high brotha
^ this guy gets it
Definitely agree with you on multiplayer games.
Proud of this man he didn’t stutter once
Halo 3 was the first mulriplayer game i ever played, never expierinced anything like it, the 4 player co op campaign, the game chat, custom games... endless fun....
It’s great tat you back uploading bro. Keep ya head up and stay positive
Really liked the camera placement for this video Jeremy. I also liked this video idea, maybe you should do story modes for games now vs then. Would really like to watch something like that from you, Keep it up my brothah !
MCC, H5 to get max rank, and Siege with friends. That’s about all the shooters I play these days.
I see you gamer! Branchin out with your creativity. Loved the vid. Keep it up.
Man Halo 3 multiplayer was the bomb used to play until my controller batteries die out
Ace video brotha Jeremy.
You are really going in with the content lately on YT/Twitch. Keep going champ
❤️ THANK U!
Ps3/360 era was the peak of online gaming from 2007-2012 gaming was lit
i think a lot of these types of conversations are filled with nostalgia/revisionist history, people remember the good times & not the bad. its easier to remember the bad from the past few months/years then your childhood years.
Your video content quality is really amazing, the growth crazy 🤯
Man I almost thought it was just me that felt similar to this.. I wasn't sure if I started falling out of love for multiplayer shooter's or if they just aren't made like they used to be🤔
0:53 the golden age of multiplayer games jeremy
Still playing Factions lol
I knew there was a reason I like you my guy... you were a Socom and Halo kid growing up. Damn I'd love to play some rounds of Socom II again lol
Hope you're doing great today man. I know this video is finna be epic as well.
Don't sleep on splatoon y'all it's really good
I purchased mario kart 8 this past weekend to play with viewers on switch.......MY GOD I aint have this much fun in years as far as playing with viewers. Got me thinking bout splatoon. MY SWITCH WAS JUST A DUST COLLECTOR! LIKE 48 HOURS AGO
Hot Take: Splatoon (or 2) is better then any battle royal game right now
bro I want uncharted 2 and 3 multiplayer back so bad I'll pay anything! just take my money ;(
I Feel the same way about gaming in general. the golden age has long since passed.
Sea of Halo is coming 🌊
No one seems to remember that Unreal Tournament 3 mp *that sucka fire*
3:23 you got LongbeachGriffy?
8:25 THIS BRO
and maps, goddamn Halo hit every note perfectly
gaming aint been the same for years
Valid points I also think it came down to our free time and the friends/family we hooked up with to play.
I'm more jrpg/rpg. Our things lately have been nobody wants to grind and turn based is archaic arguments
I feel like the in-game voice chat between both teams is a feature that shouldn't have been removed from the multiplayer games.
The passion isn't like it was in the early 2000s
Back then multiplayer shooters used to be off the chain and on fire now days it's bare bones
Now if you curse in ps4/ the next day you are banned 🤣
Man I really hope Naughy Dog can save us with Factions 2
Trust. 🙏
Gotta give credits to cod 4 for being the first with that formula, to mw2 for really improving on it and to black ops 1 for mixing it up
For me socom 2 was peak multi-player experience.
if you lived through the socom 1-3 era......oh man. Magical
@@TheGamer2323 you bet man, throwing a grenade through the window in desert glory and accidentally killing all the hostages 😆 giving the terrorists a win is forever engraved in my brain.
I wouldn't know because every shooter that releases without an offline singleplayer mode, I skip dont even wast the money.
