I was gonna point out a truck from the dealer like this would be over $100K. But, a new king ranch 4x4 diesel like this is already $100k. It’s a shame they started chasing horsepower and low cost over durable engines.
i believe that our 99 7.3 is exactly that. built for eternity. Our truck will never rust here in georgia, and it just now has 260k miles on it. all it does is tow our camper to 10 Nascar race weekends a year. it will do that till the end of time, or at least till the end of my time. i tow at 70-75 mph, getting 10 miles per gallon, it does that 100% stock. no reason to boost it to 300 or 400 horse. Just not needed.
That really is a sweet truck! I'm a die-hard GM guy, but I have always liked this body style, Ford. Now it has a great drive train, awesome suspension in it, and the king ranch interior it a perfect truck, in my opinion. I bet he could get 70 or 80 grand for it once it's buttoned up but I don't think I would ever sell such a sweet rig.
Levi Duff yeah its basically a brand new better version OBS truck. It's probably worth 100k. People pay that for new trucks that haven't had all their problems worked out like Rich has done with his truck. It's somewhat famous also so that might help the value also
This is really the first "Lifetime Truck" that I've seen built and documented on UA-cam with good quality. 👏 Its bulletproof design borrows from the best tech and ingenuity that spans decades of automotive design. While not everyone agrees with every part and/or decision Rich made, thanks to this series we can easily imagine tinkering to customize our own bulletproof, one-million-mile powertrain, on-highway pickup truck for family and work... and fun. Excellent effort from everyone involved. Congratulations! 🎉 🛻💨
I didn't think I've ever said this about any vehicle ever, and it still feels odd, but I think you should paint it yellow. This is a legendary build, the engineers over at Cat are likely very proud, yellow with black trim.
👎 Not yellow....at least not that much yellow. Think it def. should have the Cat yellow as an accent/complimentary color for sure tho! Black w\ yellow would look sweet👍💛🖤 The factory OBS two tone paint jobs on this era trucks(Blk\yel\blk) does look really good👌⬛🟨⬛👍. Anyways the truck is looking great Rich @DebossGarage. I agree I'd absolutely love this truck also! 💛🛠️ Can't wait to see it 💯% done & all buttoned up. Its almost there Man, just a few little trim pieces, etc to do. That KR interior is 🔥, I love that leather the best, looks so soft! 👍😆🛠️🇨🇦🍁 Keep it filthy!
Rich, huge congrats on this project! Was so great to meet you at Carlisle, thanks for supporting the Audi community!! Been a fan for a long while, thanks for the great content!
This is exactly why I wish these big industrial boys... Case, John Deer, Cat, international, etc... would build a full size pickup for working purposes or for the the non commercial market. Doesnt need to be all fancy, just heavy duty functional!!!
Instead of painting in over the winter, may I suggest you look into getting a "wrap" for it. The cost will be less, and there's more options with the wrap. You can incorporate logos and stripes, and so forth on a custom wrap.
im slowly building up parts for my truck. i use it for work so maintenance is always eating at the savings but piece by piece its getting better. you constantly inspire me to "figure it out", you make things work, and always give it your best. Please never stop what you do.
Great work. I followed this early in the build and lost track of it somewhere. Now I have to go back in time to fill in the gaps I've missed, because this truck turned out way nicer than I imagined. For a bunch of moose jockeys, I'm really impressed with the builds I see from the Great White North. Seriously though, great work.
Sir i am at awe with your build and stay power to see it through all the way. I came across your build and was glued to all the videos on all your builds. Hats off to you, just simply amazing.
Rich, I have a 99 7.3 powerstroke with the hydroboost I added archoil to mine as directed after a fresh flush night and day difference. 3.2 oz per quart for the system I added 6 oz archoil to the power steering system within 100km the loud whining noise I was accustomed to was completely gone. I'm not a big brand pusher but Archoil in the 7.3 oil and powersteering/hydroboost system is noticeable! As always love your content.
Doing that shackle reversal on those trucks make them ride and handle so much better. It puts the shackles at the back of the springs where they should be.
drove a 3126 box truck for a while delivering stuff for my work, those motors are fairly stout as is. cant imagine how capable it is with the tune, and the overall build is super slick, inside and out. great job!
I have to say this is one of the coolest builds I've ever seen. I can't count the number of times I've heard someone talk about wishing they could combine old and new the way this truck does. Awesome job!!
For some, the greasiness of McDonald's hash browns is part of their charm. It adds a certain indulgence and decadence to the breakfast experience. It's like treating yourself to a guilty pleasure once in a while. However, for others who prefer a cleaner and less greasy meal, it might be necessary to explore alternative options or modify their order to suit their preferences.
I like very much that it´s not rolling coal. That´s very, very nice even with tune. Seems like a very nice and happy Kitty. Congrats!Wow, has it really been three years? And please keep the white color. It´s plain and simple. I like it a lot. The truck is awsome in itself, it doesn´t need a "lookatme" colour.
Nice job. I just finished spending three years shoving a Cummins ISM and a 13 speed road ranger in my motorhome. I have the same smile on my face going through the gears after looking forward to it for so long. I am on the other end of Canada.
I totally agree, after all the work you’ve done it just deserves a fresh coat of paint, and maybe a simple pinstripe or something to break up all that real estate 👍
I work at Ford and we use the friction modifier designed for limited slip diffs to solve the whining. Just pour a bottle in and always solves it. We obviously use the motor craft friction modifier. My 96 was whining and it solved it 2 years ago and all is still good.
A friend swapped a commercial 7.3 diesel into a f350 that had a ford 7.3 in it years ago. The thing was a monster. They are not the same motor. I can’t remember how much power he was making but it was absurdly fast.
Such a cool build, congrats on finishing the truck !!! Besides odds and ends, it runs and drives , seems to pull really well. Those older Fords are such a great looking truck , Awesome content as always , keep it up man !! 👍
I questioned your use of ready rod on the air tank but I should have just been complimenting the insane amount of planning and work that has gone into building this amazing truck.
Nice build. I wish I had the time to build my own truck. I'd go with this same CAT in a 2007 F-350. That way you get the built in trailer factory brake controller, coil front suspension, larger frame, etc.
Finding out about the atmospheric pressure sensor might be a big reveal in setting my SUV up to run harder than it does now it's old. Always a good video when I learn something useful.
I love this build especially Caterpillar 3126 F350 with a sleeveless engine like the 5.9 liter cummins glad you got this classic Ford truck towing a car hauler not bad considering it pulls great
So my superduty 7.3 made 200ish at factory, making 300 ish (all to the ground) now. At 300 it has bitchslapped any trailer I’ve towed up to a 21,000 lb trailer. If you’re making 330, and comparing that to the 3126 high torque dyno sheets… that thing should make short work of anything you latch onto. Love the build rich! 😊 HEUI noises make for an epic soundtrack.
just love seeing someone else who just finds a way to make it all work and in true fashion less than two days from a trip great vids and inspiriational content man keep it up
I stinking love this build, Rich!! It gets me excited to work on my 95 1/2 ton. Please look into doing an 05+ super duty axle swap please!! You would be much happier with the front coils and better turning radius!
Great videos ....I love to watch the progression as the truck evolves into a sweet machine. As much as I would love to do something of the same sort there are just too many skills I don't have that I would bog down on the project . SO I've done the same type of thing but with an abandoned home in the mountains that I bought at auction. It's taken me 3 years to rebuild (health issue delays.) But now that it 95% complete it is a joy to live in.
We had a little hole in our trailer too. Just cut a square patch out of some sheet metal, squirt on some RTV around it; put your patch in a diamond shape and rivot it over the hole. It's looks perfectly fine, as if it belongs there; like some kind of 'hazard" sign or something. You won't even notice it again.
This truck is probably the peak for pickups its comfortable without being a Lincoln Town car inside and the engine is all mechanical that is over built and solid axles, If I had to buy one truck forever this is it.
THAT LONG WHEEL BASE DEFINITELY HELPS WITH RIDE QUALITY BUT IM SHOCKED HOW QUITE IT IS AND YOU HAVENT TOUCHED THE DOOR SEALS WHICH ARE USUALLY SHOT. MY DAD HAD TWO OF THESE BACK IN THE DAY..GRANTED IT DIDNT HAVE THE CAT ENGINE BUT I THINK WE ALL CAN AGREE THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD HAVE CAME FROM THE FACTORY BUT IF THEY DID, IT WOULD COST WHAT THE NEW TRUCKS COST.
I recently switched my OM603 over to T6 after I developed a lifter tick sitting over the winter. Ran two cans of liquimoly engine flush and filled it with T6, she's purring like a dream with 503,000km on the clock!
I cut my teeth working on these things and the old 3116 topkicks, i always wondered about the idea of putting one in a pickup, figured it would last forever if nothing else. Pretty cool that someone let the intrusive thoughts win and tried it. And such tidy execution.
It sounds great! Love the sound of CAT engines. I’ve driven 3126B, 3406E and C15 and like them much better than the Cummins and DT466 I’ve also driven. I’m used to that lower RPM shifting now too. Takes a bit of adjustment when I jump in a highway tractor with a Cummins. Lol.
Rich we have had two of the 21,000 Hijacker 5th wheel hitches and were very pleased with them. Used them for our cattle and flat deck trailers. If James doesn’t give it up, check them out.
If you don't mind me asking, what size are the tires and rims on your pickup? As a Ford man for over half a century, I have to say that is one of the very nicest pickups I've ever seen, and an incredible build. May God continue to bless you brother!
If powdercoating letters again i would hang them on some welding wire so hanging down. Then bake that way. Will get better coverage and finish. As usual builds are brill.
We just did 1200 miles with our 330hp cat 3126 motorhome with 6 speed allison and we are doing the 1200 miles back this weekend. Such a good setup! Nothing purrs like a kitty!
I remember when you purchased this truck 3 years ago. On your way back from California you went to Pfispeed and put it on the Dyno. Love this build! One day I’d love to Cummins swap my 88 Ramcharger. Very inspiring to watch all the progress that was made on this and all the other projects.
That’s a really straight forward swap! I’ve got a 12 valve sitting in the corner of my shop because I ended up putting a hemi in my 79’ instead but they fit like factory. Only problem is getting an intercooled core support.
@@goonridingupnorth1382 I have the 4WD, does all the factory trans and transfer case bolt on to the the Cummins? Or does it require an adapter? All the research I’ve done folks swap frames when the do the swap, or cut the frame in half. Which I find is a tad extreme to go that route.
@@BoostedCajun I wouldn’t use the stock transmission, the Cummins would turn it into confetti, that should be an NP208 transfercase though and that’ll basically bolt up to any chrysler transmission. No reason to swap frames, they were basically the same from 74-93 anyways and being a ramcharger means the frame is a completely different shape than a pickup frame.
might have been said already but after you degrease the part before powdering, you need to outgas it by baking it before the powder is coated. Probably save you some redo's in the future, nice build!
Dont see a lot of heirloom trucks hitting the road nowadays. What an incredible showcase in persistence and dedication. If i could choose a OBS as my forever truck, this would be it. Hell of a ferd.
Wow gotta say I been watching this series since day 1 I love this truck so much I’m a ford fan I have a few of them and would love to do a build like this some day It’s gotta be the best f-350 build on UA-cam
@@DEBOSSGARAGE thanks for responding it’s good to see a bigger channel still respond to comments I’ve watched you for years and so good to see this thing done and driving You did a phenomenal job and I really appreciate the details you have out into videos It gives me hope and confidence in myself for a project like this.

You built the coolest truck man, I'm a huge cummins fan but the cat swap is a very cool twist from what alot of people are doing currently!
I've done 1/2 dozen cummins swaps. TIme for something different

My Ford doesn't have a turbo but gets that sweet turbo whine from the power steering pump.
FTreeKitty coming along nicely Rich!
That would be more like a supercharger whine...
That's a sweet rig. I expect the Cat engine to last a long time. My rollback has a 3126 with 500k miles, still running strong as it should.

What a sweet truck! Congrats on the build!
might have been said already but after you degrease the part before powdering, you need to outgas it by baking it before the powder is coated. Probably save you some redo's in the future, nice build!
Dont see a lot of heirloom trucks hitting the road nowadays. What an incredible showcase in persistence and dedication. If i could choose a OBS as my forever truck, this would be it. Hell of a ferd.
Wow gotta say I been watching this series since day 1
I love this truck so much
I’m a ford fan I have a few of them and would love to do a build like this some day
It’s gotta be the best f-350 build on UA-cam
Thank you very much. Much appreciated.
@@DEBOSSGARAGE thanks for responding it’s good to see a bigger channel still respond to comments
