Hanging with Katie in her garage is my favorite Saturday afternoon past time. Beautiful job on a piece of furniture that would have been easy to overlook!
My favorite thing about this video was listening to you talk to the piece as you worked on it. "Excuse me, sir, but you are in the way!" I found that relatable and a delightful peek into your workroom. I'm also feeling spoiled with so much K. Scott content lately! It's the highlight of my weekend. Thank you Katie, you are appreciated and your content is loved!
Met the mentor of a part of my life who turned out to be well known and home in the best of mags. What yellow is this,I asked of her home dining room? That started it. She noted that yellows are the hardest to get. I found that to be true. But there was a time ,low on funds I got a kitchen yellow for a dark attic room being changed into a restful bedroom in a cloud. Sponged on beige, pink, lite gray carefully over that primal yellow. Inside a cloud,I sold that house on the added room, yellow can be anything but is always life and light. Thank you, miracle worker and teacher.
One of the things that takes time that people don't factor in, is trying to remove hardware, old nails, etc. And half the time your tools run out of juice half way through, or you can't find the right bit for some odd screw. I felt your pain, and triumph when you "won"!
Can’t love this enough. The bright yellow for the win and the wallpaper pushed this fun piece right over the top. Like you said, this piece won’t be everyone’s slice of life, but the right person will be willing to pay top dollar for this jewel.
Katie, I am totally with you about hinges... they are a pain and they never seem to go back quite right. I love that you did this piece in yellow. It's just lively and happy. Great job as usual.
I don’t know how I missed this from 2 months ago!! I have to admit when you said you were painting this piece yellow, I cringed. But when you finished I LOVED IT! So pretty!
I’d love to be her neighbor. Her best friend. I just know she’s the best in the world. A fantastic talent, heart, and personality. She’d be so much fun to be around. Of course being a country apart would make that difficult, but she’s everyone’s bestie furniture flipper on here. Virtually. That piece is amazing.
You did an awesome job of nudging a 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 seventies piece of furniture into the present.🥰I think the paint color choice and wallpaper were key in you pulling it off. Love that lemon pattern.❤ I’m pretty sure my parents had the same, if not a similar, liquor cabinet. As a Gen-Xer, it harkens back memories from my childhood. Great job!👏🏼👍🏼
I thought you were crazy for painting a piece yellow. But that piece does serve as a good canvas for yellow. The lemon contact paper was the perfect touch! You have a wonderful eye for transformations!
Wasn't sure about the yellow. But your vision is spot on! Turned out gorgeous and the color just makes it even more beautiful! It's a very happy decorating piece! 😊❤
We are heading back into bright. Kind of leaving the Wearstler era and moving back into Jonathan Adler. I would LOVE to see the room this gets moved into. Vibrant is the new black 😁
I love and really agree that all matchy furniture us just boring. This piece is pretty, fresh and fun. I bet it would be a conversation piece too but in a good way!
I’m at child of the 60s and I hate that style furniture, but this turned out so pretty!! That yellow is to die for!! Well done Katie! You are so good at what you do!! I want to be you when I grow up!! 😉
This server is a quirky piece for sure. In my extended family, there was a dresser that lived in the homes of most of my aunts. It was painted blue. Color can be fun. When you mentioned that the piece had some Asian inspired details, red popped in my head. Red would have been so cool. You chose yellow; to each her own. It would be interesting to see how someone used it.
You just took me right back to 1969 and in my room I painted it exactly that yellow and had lemon printed drapes! 😮it was insane. Then on my dresser I had three wooden wide dowel looking candle holders painted aqua and yellow and green striped with candles to add to the ambience. It was quite the room. I feel I moved on from my yellow period and never to return until I saw your cabinet today. It’s amazing!
This turned out gorgeous! Yellow was not my usual choice for furniture but now I can see how it can work. I like that you showed other yellow pieces of furniture and inspiration at the beginning of the video to see how it can be styled in a space. I absolutely love the lemon wallpaper on the inside. Well done! Can you tell us how much this piece sold for?
I love it! Especially the lemon paper; That was a great call. The only thing I would have possibly done differently is, I would have put the antique gold Rub n Buff on the handle as well, to tie it in with the rails. But it still looks great the way you did it!
I was thinking the same. I have a drawer pull that wouldve looked great with the rails and the handle did look a bit chunky, that being the one thing that kept the 70s furniture design look. (Also would've reattached the casters) I'm interested what it sold for, I'd say minimum 450 USD.
The yellow is very 70’s & Peter Max. I was a teenager in the 70’s (so I’m also an antique) and had a yellow bedroom with a Peter Max bedspread! Love your work and your channel!
You just showed me the type of thing I’ve been looking for for my dining room! I knew I wanted a buffet of some sort, but now I DEFINITELY want a pop of color!!
As always, we saw a suitable reconstruction full of techniques and ideas. Personally, as a carpenter and restorer, I liked the painting part. Great and don't be tired for all this trouble 💚🤍❤
Holy moly lemon cannoli!! Absolutely love you were brave enough to make something this obnoxiously colorful!! Came out fantastic!!! Can't help but put you in a good mood. Hoping all is well Katie, Dirty Jersey out!!!
I loooooove this bright yellow color! My style is generally neutrals and Earth tones but i love adding in pops of "obnoxious" neon colors like this to keep things fresh and interesting
I discovered your channel a few days again and I have been watching you ever since. I have always wanted to start a business like this but never did. You have encouraged me to start. Your videos are clear, precise, and informative. You are encouraging to your viewers and down to earth. Which is wonderful . I love the colour choice for this piece. Love the lemon paper liner. ❤
WOW!! When you go for a bold color, you go BOLD! That's definitely a fun piece that will look great in the right space! Like you said, everything doesn't have to be neutral! ❤
if this had been actual wood I would have been heartbroken BUT I am so delighted that you cheered up such a sad material in such a fun way!! quality work ❤🎉
Love it - back in the 1970s my kitchen cupboards were this colour, with the harmonizing olive green and dark brown on white background wallpaper. I see this as a fun addition for someone with a MCM-feel home.
I thought for sure I’d *hate* the bright yellow but DANG! It turned out great. Good call using that wallpaper instead of the blue paint. Yet another great result!
Good Day Sunshine!!! I love this makeover Katie - it’s so cheery and bright. Well done. Ya know there are loads of furniture refinishers on YT but I haven’t yet come across anyone who can match your ability to teach and convey the steps in the refinishing process. You not only do a fabulous job of explaining WHAT you’re doing but WHY you’re doing it. You always cover the basics in every video and build out from there. I have never been the learner who accepts things “just cuz” and I have learned so much watching you work and know that there will be more pearls of wisdom yet to come. Thanks for sharing your expertise and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Love the bright yellow! I recently did a little bar in yellow and my husband thought I was crazy. The piece was free and it adds a nice little pop of color to our dining room 💕
I really like the very cheerful yellow along with the lemon paper on the back of the door and drawer front. This piece makes me smile! 😎 I can see this piece on a covered patio holding snacks for a bar-b-que. Great job!!
The lemon wallpaper was a good call!
I absolutely love how this piece turned out and it was a great call to add the lemon paper instead of the blue.

My grandson was sitting close to me while I watched. He said “Is she talking to the furniture?” 😂
" It's gonna be a brite, brite sun shinny day"
The color is absolutely refreshing and happy!
Really cute 🍋The lemon paper was a fun enhancement!
I think so too!
Finally!! furniture that is fun and functional and not taupe with a paint wash top!! Well done and thank you for a fun to watch video
I do not usually like yellow. This piece is beautiful. Great job
Glad you like it!

I really like the bright fresh yellow. I see that being a coffee bar on a porch as you enjoy the morning.
YES!!!
Very bold color but very cheerful and sweet! A great addition for the right house! I like it!
One of the things that takes time that people don't factor in, is trying to remove hardware, old nails, etc. And half the time your tools run out of juice half way through, or you can't find the right bit for some odd screw. I felt your pain, and triumph when you "won"!
Probably my favorite piece you've ever done.
Can’t love this enough. The bright yellow for the win and the wallpaper pushed this fun piece right over the top. Like you said, this piece won’t be everyone’s slice of life, but the right person will be willing to pay top dollar for this jewel.
I love the color, yellow is my favorite! Does anyone else see a face on the door, with the handle as a mouth and the curlicues as eyes? 🤣🤣🤣
I thought I was the only one
Katie, I am totally with you about hinges... they are a pain and they never seem to go back quite right. I love that you did this piece in yellow. It's just lively and happy. Great job as usual.
I don’t know how I missed this from 2 months ago!! I have to admit when you said you were painting this piece yellow, I cringed. But when you finished I LOVED IT! So pretty!
I love what you’ve done with this piece. Most people are restoring with beige and neutrals, it’s great to see some personality.
The color is fantastic❤ and I love the lemon paper. So festive and cheerful.
That’s beautiful…now I want to bring brighter colours into my home…
Bold, bright and spreading joy every time you walk by this creative gem 😎💛🍋🍋🍋. A winner, Kate👍
Preciousness! I want one!! This is now my favorite piece in your repertoire💛💛💛💛💛
That turned out great, and I love the lemon patterned paper on the draw and door
I’d love to be her neighbor. Her best friend. I just know she’s the best in the world. A fantastic talent, heart, and personality. She’d be so much fun to be around. Love the lemon wall paper inside
Love the sunshine yellow so much!❤
Wasn't sure about the yellow. But your vision is spot on! Turned out gorgeous and the color just makes it even more beautiful! It's a very happy decorating piece! 😊❤
I admit I wasn’t a fan until you added the lemon paper. 🍋That made it! Very good call to not keep the blue.
We are heading back into bright. Kind of leaving the Wearstler era and moving back into Jonathan Adler. I would LOVE to see the room this gets moved into. Vibrant is the new black 😁
I love this. It's so much fun. The wallpaper adds a great surprise that just makes me smile.
Love this. More makeovers like this please. The world needs more colour.
I love and really agree that all matchy furniture us just boring. This piece is pretty, fresh and fun. I bet it would be a conversation piece too but in a good way!
Adorable! Great, informative video, too. I think it could easily go for $350 or $375.
I hate yellow in clothing for me, but I love yellow away from my skin. This piece looks gorgeous.
I didn't think I'd like the yellow - but WOW! It's fantastic! Another great job! Thanks for sharing.
I’m at child of the 60s and I hate that style furniture, but this turned out so pretty!! That yellow is to die for!! Well done Katie! You are so good at what you do!! I want to be you when I grow up!! 😉
Absolutely LOVE this! Does anyone else see Chiquita Banana lady on the door?! 😂❤
I love it n changing blue for lemon wallpaper was absolutely the best idea!
I loved the paper over the blue
I love it Katie!! Such a fun color! Glad to see that I’m not the only one that talks to my furniture while I’m working on it!! 🥰🥰🥰
I love it. Yep: not for everyone. Fortunately. I prefer to be different. It turned out very well.
Love the yellow.
I LOVE this - that colour turned that unit from fugly to fabulous. A pop of yellow is always a yes in my opinion.

Good call on the yellow, it’s a happy color & who doesn’t need some happiness in their home? 🍋

Katie going bold and I LOVE IT!! 🍋
yellow always makes me happy, Its a fun piece and refreshing from the normal neutrals. I for one would love to see more fun colours .Thank you.
I love it! Especially the lemon paper; That was a great call. The only thing I would have possibly done differently is, I would have put the antique gold Rub n Buff on the handle as well, to tie it in with the rails. But it still looks great the way you did it!

Yellow is my favorite color. I was excited before the finish. Nice. 😍
I was like "Oh No!! Why that color?!! But it turned out really nice. Good job!
It was a gamble but I’m glad it paid off!
I really liked your choice in the color and after adding the lemon paper it's even better looking and fresh
Gorgeous color choice! I love the lemon liner paper as well. You took this from tired and heavy looking to fresh and modern. Beautiful!
Love it - back in the 1970s my kitchen cupboards were this colour, with the harmonizing olive green and dark brown on white background wallpaper.
I see this as a fun addition for someone with a MCM-feel home.

Bold, i love it! Perfect for the patio.

That is awesome!
Katie, only you could make a bright yellow look fab!! Love it as always!
SO creative. I'm unsure of just how much I'd sell it for. Then again, it turned out so great that I'd be tempted to keep it.
❤the lemon color
Tbh, I wasn’t sure about the yellow (even tho I adore yellow!), but it really turned out great! I love the wallpaper too, what fabulous touch! 👍🏻
This is so vibrant and colourful, I love it Katie!! Going for the lemon paper over the blue was definitely the right choice 🤩👏😍
I love the yellow, it looks so fresh and fun! 😊🩷
Looks beautiful. So glad you changed that blue to the paper. All I was seeing was “IKEA”, LOL.
Right?!
My front door is this color! I LOVE it!
I think the lemon paper looks great!!
Love the happy cheerful piece of furniture you created from the not so attractive original. The colour is FABULOUS. Great job Katie.
Thanks so much! 😊
Surprisingly beautiful, esp the lemons inside!
I was pretty skeptical at first that you could possibly work your Katie-magic on that (ahem) piece.
But you did!!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I really like the very cheerful yellow along with the lemon paper on the back of the door and drawer front. This piece makes me smile! 😎 I can see this piece on a covered patio holding snacks for a bar-b-que. Great job!!
I love it, but then I always love painted furniture and yellow is my favorite.
Very Mediterranean, I am seeing this with a jug of Sangria on and some tapas! 🫒🧆🍹Gorgeous 🥰
