So, at least on paper it has specs which make it interesting for Creatives, far being the "precice pointer to replace fat fingers". There should at least be detailed review on those features. Also, most of the time the slipperiness is GLASS with no feedback. Plastic would be fine and offer more resistance. But this is easily remedied with a matte screen protector (a matte screen protector like from Paperlike makes a huge difference on iPad Pro even). Of course, Wacom screens already have a matte finish applied out of the box (and some cheaper Wacom alternatives do too).
no headphone jack on a giant tablet. come on. that is just ridiculous. other than the size of the 3.5mm jack the port perfectly does what it is needed to do. In case you wanted to buy it, i'll just let you know that : - No headphone jack on both versions - No M-Pen support for the M5 8.4" version - No DRM security level 1 so for Netflix and any streaming media it's 480p (SD) and not 720p (HD) or 1080p (FHD) on both versions - No Microsoft Office (for free) option on the M5 10"8 version - No 120hz screen or Amoled screen The lack of headphone jack and HD streaming support is REALLY tough when you know that a tablet is made for media consumption. I was hyped for the M5 8"4 but no pen support and no DRM security level 1 for high quality streaming is crippling for me
-They removed headphone jack to make the battery larger -Yeah, because it's cheaper. You can get a third party stylus and use it. -I think you could solve the DRM issue by installing a custom ROM or using the web version of it. -You have to blame Microsoft for that. You can't run free office on devices larger than 8 inch or something so there's that. -Dude, for a tablet a AMOLED is too expensive. And keep in mind that this is a mid range device, so 120 hz screen is basically impossible.
- WRONG... especially when the battery size is exactly the same as the Mediapad M3 - Less interesting... not an excuse again because the Tab S2 8 supports the s pen - I don't know with a custom ROM but with the web version it's not true - Devices larger than 10'1 like the Mediapad M3 but yeah Microsoft told that many years ago - True but disappointing The Huawei MEDIApad is not for MEDIA consumption without headphone jack and DRM certification. I'm waiting for an update by Huawei to resolve the DRM problem but I saw that even on huawei smartphones users claimed for it but i don't saw any answers....

My Galaxy Tab S3 is still a killer tablet. HDR super amoled display, quick charge, quad speakers, S pen, long battery life, good stand by and doesn't have the typical Samsung lag. (I think Samsung has slower eliminated that problem on most of their newer products)

My only complaints are that both the 16:9 megapixel resolutions in the camera are incorrect & that youtube & video player applications change the audio equalizer so it changes the sound quality for no reason. So I have to open youtube through chrome to not make that happen.

Nice review finally a large screen android tablet to replace my Samsung tab s 10.5" let's just hope the screen is actually as good as the Samsung OLED screen. It is stupid not to have a 3.5 headphone jack but for me it's not a problem I have never plugged headphones into a tablet.

Any idea where I can buy this? Or if and when this will become available?
With bezel-less 8.4", 13.5"-15.6" 2K-4K display, latest CPU, at least 8GB RAM and PHONE call capability. Most important...reasonable price. Let's see if ipad could compete with it.
The reason for success of iPads is the company's attitude towards it's products, Apple always puts a more powerful chip, provides the same camera of the iPhones of it's time and adds crazy new features, whereas we have Android tablets who use previous year's chips, design, camera, so surely it's the company's fault if they don't have a success in tablet market😔😔😔
Francesco Gambini speed test ≠ real life performance. Also, iPhone tends to have longer software support than android, even compared with pixel phones.
Julius Verne when iPad pro was launched, iPhone 7/7plus was the flagship, so it shouldn't be compared to the iPhone X, wait for WWDC 2018, you'll see for yourself how newer iPads will be similar to iPhone X😑😑😑
Android tablets are not dead, however if Google-made UA-cam Studio app is a scaled up phone app instead of being a real tablet app, like it is on iPad, then something is not quite right.
The only tablet which is really usable for professional and entertainment purposes is based on a Linux platform with rolling releases. (true multitasking and never ending security updates and major upgrades) Manjaro-arm perhaps? Time will tell. I hope to see new generations 3:2 tablets with mid-high end specs and at least 10 inch screen.
Your site's review of the Hauwei Mediapad M5 Pro is missing a massive issue that should greatly downgrade its score- Huawei no longer offers repairs or service on tablets after warranty. I have had this tablet for about 18 months. It works great, I love how it functions, but after 18 months the charging port has gotten loose. This alone doesn't bother me- I'd happily replace the port, BUT I CAN'T. I went to a local repair shop and called 3 more, they all told me they can't get parts. I called Huawei support first i was told I'd have to pay for a repair, which I was fine with- then I was told that the repair centers only do work on tablets under warranty and I should talk to local repair people- the same ones who can't get parts. So, I asked if i could buy the parts from Huawei. Nope. I asked if I could get the part name/ number so I could try to find one online. Nope. Asked for my money back (which I really didn't expect). Nope. Stuff happens with tech, a screen can get cracked, a port can come loose, what have you, it is part of life, so don't buy this tablet. You will never be able to fix anything that goes wrong and my something went wrong after only 18 months.
There is another difference between the pro version and the other, the pro version and the 8.4 inches models have the normal version of the Kirin 960 cpu but the other one have the kirin 960s which is a slightly downgraded cpu (it runs at 2.1ghz and the pro version and the 8 inches models are running at 2.39ghz) it doesn't seems much but when you have a 2K screen is a huge difference...
I'm just here to open your eyes to reality but don't worry I'll make it sound much more fun and interesting so I went to do my work and took my time researching the Huawei Mediapad M5 m k lets get started Huawei Mediapad M5 it takes great pics, works well with videos, lovely optimization, system great sound, and a pretty cool display. Now this tablet had a problem it has a home screen, back button screen, and multiwindow screen windows did not go away when I was playing a game called heroes of incredible tales so I addressed to a B&H Employee or worker that this was what was going on and I couldn't see the percent of loading so that I know if it is almost done cause you know sometimes I like to check every once in a while after I'm done doing some cooking or cleaning. I do not know if this is going to be an on going problem after its done loading and I try to play the game and press any other buttons that are also down at the bottom because I would love for the mini icons which is the home button, back button, and multiwindow to go away eventually cause I've never encountered that problem on my older tablet so yes Android and Huawei please fix that error because it lasted longer than seconds while the game was loading the same goes for Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 its a good tablet but it had this exact same problem as well so yes Samsung I suggest it best you have a fellow co-worker test out your tablet because if I start reviewing your tablet I base it off of what is working and what is not so people don't encounter these issues and that it is known worldwide so that you realize tiny problems like these could piss someone off n drive them nuts but it could also end up causing your buyers to buy a windows tablet now let me tell you who really wins in the computer, laptop, chromebook, and tablet and THAT is Windows itself now you can tell me it is not winning in the playstore but let me tell you something it is getting there slowly but surely it is let me show u how it looks Mortal Kombat Style T.T Apple vs Android Chrome OS FIGHT = Android WINS Android Chrome OS: Got dat right I'm da bomb cause I'm flashy and cool plus everybody knows it so suck on dat Apple T.T Windows vs Android Chrome OS = Windows WINS Android Chrome OS: wait what the hell? I don't understand HOW!? I demand an explanation >:O Windows: Well Android Chrome OS you are indeed very impressive with all of your entertainment especially on your chromebook but its not enough because you always bump into bugs and problems. Also you're very expensive while we aren't as a tablet and most people tend to come to us since we're less expensive plus not many seem to want an android chromebook that looks like a computer. Most of them just want a tablet that has flash plugin and is perfect for job work like some of the other laptops which is why they invented the Microsoft Surface Go to carry around and use for work easily and eventually we will also be able to update many more game apps and entertainment features like you do but we're taking our time fixing bugs slowly along the way and making sure everything is perfect and double checking it constantly so that everything is still stable :) Android Chrome OS: Well when you put it that way it does kind of make sense huh after all this time you were watching not only Apple but even me and brought me down this is so not cool, other than that I guess I've learned something and its that being a hotshot ain't everything, I'll just listen to my customers and stop ignoring them so much. T.T Windows: Its m k stuff like that happens but you are pretty cool though ^_^ Android: Thanks so are you ^_^ End Kayla: So you see if you look carefully at android and are using it way more often you notice there are certain things that you want to make sure u are aware of and sometimes those problems don't get fixed at all but I would suggest that if you want a perfectly good working tablet a Huawei Mediapad M5 Windows Microsoft Surface Go or Samsung Galaxy Tab A might be one of them but do make sure that if you do encounter the exact same problems like I ran into on both Huawei Mediapad M5 and on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 to report it because not reporting it might just make the problem worse other than that I'm not buying anything at the moment so yea oh and one more thing there will be another tablet called the LG V426 tablet.

I never heard regular reviewers mention it even if it is good digitizer tech (like Wacom technology in Samsung Note series).

The 8.4 inches will be my next tablet, need to replace my shield K1 that died yesterday and i think it's the best option right now
My only complaints are that both the 16:9 megapixel resolutions in the camera are incorrect & that youtube & video player applications change the audio equalizer so it changes the sound quality for no reason. So I have to open youtube through chrome to not make that happen.
Current Reviews state, that Netflix and Prime Video WON'T WORK with HD content!
Meaning you can but only stream SD which is why the M5 has gotten fairly negative reviews from buyers. Could you please elaborate on that particular issue?
First class review. Thank you!
Why u can get the Huawei mediapad M5?? Where I can buy it... thank you very much
When is this being released
where from i can buy it plzzz tell me
Nice review finally a large screen android tablet to replace my Samsung tab s 10.5" let's just hope the screen is actually as good as the Samsung OLED screen.
It is stupid not to have a 3.5 headphone jack but for me it's not a problem I have never plugged headphones into a tablet.
Watching this on my Mediapad M2 8.0 ❤💓💕💖💗💙💚💛💜💝💟
can u use bluetooth and wifi at the same time? i read an amazon review that says they couldnt
of course u can, Lol
Prosím proč se neaktualizují i starší tablety Huawei MediaPad M2? V důsledku toho nejdou stahovat a instalovat aplikace a hry z Googlu Play! (CZ)
No headphone jacks the deal killer for me. Guess I will keep using my Blackberry Playbook everytime I go on holiday.
Why wouldn't you put a headphone jack on a tablet!!!
I am looking to buy the 10.8 inch model, and in my country I can not find the pro model, just the simple one. And all the sites/shops can not give me informations about the processor of the non-pro model. They could not tell me what’s the difference between the pro and the non-pro models.
So thank you a lot for the explanation man! I appreciate!
Good review and very informative.
Cheers.
please review mediapad m6 10.8
When come to Singapore sale ?
how many nits is the brightness?
thats an excellent review
names of the games ur are playing on the tablet
Where i can buy this ?
Can you delete the pre-installed apps? I heard they take up a lot of space
Is this future proof? When it comes to updates or are updates really that necessary?
Nah, like most other Android units
Great review, I really enjoyed that. Thanks
So what are alot going to use a 10" tablet for? Media consumption! So no headphone jack? Huawei just got lazy. The cheapest 8" model is over 400$/349 euros, uh uh. Sounds more 200$ max.
Still haven't found a successor to my Tab S 10.5, 1600p amoled screen, headphone jack. Performance ain't great, but its 4 years old too.
BrysNightWorld Samsung tabs suck. I'm thinking you probably shouldn't talk
Conspirazy right 😂 all of samsung tabs SUCKS! except for the Tab S3. Trust me i've used many tablet from samsung even one of their oldest tab 2 7.0 and currently using Tab A 7.0 2016, After seing other brands i've decided to switch. Now i'm waiting for the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition. Don't really care if it's a iPhone X knock off. Performance wise it's great.
BrysNightWorld the tab s4 just came out from samsung. It should be a good replacement for the tab s
Memory is poor and can't move to sd card,
Most of the stores including Amazon only offer a 32 GB version (very rarely you find a 64gb). When this tablet was announced more than a month ago a 128gb version was shown and the Pro would also come with a pen and with detachable keyboard.I want to buy the 128Gb Pro version with the keyboard and pen. Any idea where I can buy this? Or if and when this will become available?
in china, we can buy it on taobao
With bezel-less 8.4", 13.5"-15.6" 2K-4K display, latest CPU, at least 8GB RAM and PHONE call capability. Most important...reasonable price. Let's see if ipad could compete with it.
Where can I buy one in USA ?
The reason for success of iPads is the company's attitude towards it's products, Apple always puts a more powerful chip, provides the same camera of the iPhones of it's time and adds crazy new features, whereas we have Android tablets who use previous year's chips, design, camera, so surely it's the company's fault if they don't have a success in tablet market😔😔😔
Shubham Khamaru same quality of the current iPhones, really...? 🤔
RoseWolfz Prime salty much?
RoseWolfz Prime I believe quad speakers and 120hz refresh rate panel was first seen on the iPad 😑😑😑
Hey Lanh any other Tech UA-camrs in KC? Just curious live in KC as well.
Does anyone know what game he is playing on the tablet?
does it output video via USB C?
Awesome review Lanh, thanks!
Is it good for gaming
Android tablets are not dead, however if Google-made UA-cam Studio app is a scaled up phone app instead of being a real tablet app, like it is on iPad, then something is not quite right.
*BEST OF LUCK BRO*
No headphone jack = No buy
Love when Lanh's accent comes out....southern gentleman
You will never be able to fix anything that goes wrong and my something went wrong after only 18 months.
not available on amazon yet.
Try using leena launcher with pro version
But can it run Critical Ops at 50+ Fps?
M pen does with Bluetooth?
I love the way he says its a two handed device while holding it in one hand. Classic.
matt69savage, when he utters the phrase 2 handed device he is actually holding it in 2 hands...
Does the pen work in m5? not m5 pro
Waiting for Galaxy Tab S4
Me too
Me too
Rocking a Tab S3 and absolutely amazed by it. The tab 4 would need to be a serious improvement for me to ditch this.
I'm just here to open your eyes to reality but don't worry I'll make it sound much more fun and interesting so I went to do my work and took my time researching the Huawei Mediapad M5 m k lets get started
Huawei Mediapad M5 it takes great pics, works well with videos, lovely optimization, system great sound, and a pretty cool display. I do not know if this is going to be an on going problem after its done loading and I try to play the game and press any other buttons that are also down at the bottom because I would love for the mini icons which is the home button, back button, and multiwindow to go away eventually cause I've never encountered that problem on my older tablet so yes Android and Huawei please fix that error because it lasted longer than seconds while the game was loading the same goes for Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 its a good tablet but it had this exact same problem as well so yes Samsung I suggest it best you have a fellow co-worker test out your tablet because if I start reviewing your tablet I base it off of what is working and what is not so people don't encounter these issues and that it is known worldwide so that you realize tiny problems like these could piss someone off n drive them nuts but it could also end up causing your buyers to buy a windows tablet now let me tell you who really wins in the computer, laptop, chromebook, and tablet and THAT is Windows itself now you can tell me it is not winning in the playstore but let me tell you something it is getting there slowly but surely it is let me show u how it looks Mortal Kombat Style T.T
Apple vs Android Chrome OS FIGHT = Android WINS
Android Chrome OS: Got dat right I'm da bomb cause I'm flashy and cool plus everybody knows it so suck on dat Apple T.T
Windows vs Android Chrome OS = Windows WINS
Android Chrome OS: wait what the hell? I don't understand HOW!? I demand an explanation >:O
Windows: Well Android Chrome OS you are indeed very impressive with all of your entertainment especially on your chromebook but its not enough because you always bump into bugs and problems. Also you're very expensive while we aren't as a tablet and most people tend to come to us since we're less expensive plus not many seem to want an android chromebook that looks like a computer. Most of them just want a tablet that has flash plugin and is perfect for job work like some of the other laptops which is why they invented the Microsoft Surface Go to carry around and use for work easily and eventually we will also be able to update many more game apps and entertainment features like you do but we're taking our time fixing bugs slowly along the way and making sure everything is perfect and double checking it constantly so that everything is still stable :)
Android Chrome OS: Well when you put it that way it does kind of make sense huh after all this time you were watching not only Apple but even me and brought me down this is so not cool, other than that I guess I've learned something and its that being a hotshot ain't everything, I'll just listen to my customers and stop ignoring them so much. T.T
Windows: Its m k stuff like that happens but you are pretty cool though ^_^
Android: Thanks so are you ^_^
End
Kayla: So you see if you look carefully at android and are using it way more often you notice there are certain things that you want to make sure u are aware of and sometimes those problems don't get fixed at all but I would suggest that if you want a perfectly good working tablet a Huawei Mediapad M5 Windows Microsoft Surface Go or Samsung Galaxy Tab A might be one of them but do make sure that if you do encounter the exact same problems like I ran into on both Huawei Mediapad M5 and on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 to report it because not reporting it might just make the problem worse other than that I'm not buying anything at the moment so yea oh and one more thing there will be another tablet called the LG V426 tablet.
I'm thinking about buying one, but Huawei is not known for releasing a ton of updates
Has anyone tried note taking on the m5 pro? I really don't like iOS and I wouldn't like to buy and iPad. This one looks like a good option but no one really talks about how the pen works.
I just want a good pure Android tablet. Pixel c is getting old. Can we get a better speced and better build nexus 9
