Received my ND filters yesterday. Got out my notes from your Exposure video. Watched this one and made more notes. It was a bright midday, so used the ND16 filter. The screen went from way overexposed to great colour. Amazing results for such a little accessory. Thank you for the simple to understand videos for beginners you are producing, please keep producing these. I am learning a lot. The next step for me is to build confidence in playing with the different settings for the environment I am filming.

Confidences comes with use and trial-and-error, so keep up with the hard work and we will keep producing these types of videos for you! Good luck and happy shooting!
How do you know which ND filter to use. Like the way you mentioned if it's 1/60s, you'd use ND 32 and at 1/120s, you'd use ND 16. Do you just try it and see which sits right for the exposure
Hi Jeff. Thanks for the video. I would ask why I am having issues with certain lines in my videos becoming "digitised" . I have been taking plenty of video over the last few years for real estate and have just switched to the pocket 2.

This video is really useful especially for eager beginners like me. I just got my OP original. I didn't fall for OP2 hahaha. Thank you so much for the brief but very informative video.
Thanks for the video , very informative , for some one like myself looking into buying a Dgi pocket . Hopefully when I visit new York in a few weeks time , I hope I can find a good deal on this amazing action cam. Love the fact you can get filters for some thing so small. I need some thing like this for a future project I have planned once I return from the US trip.

I have my first set of Polar Pro filters, ND and polarising at nd4, nd8 and nd16 and while they work OK, the nd16 does not reduce enough for bright sunlight where I live in Sydney Australia where we get very severe contrasts. I hooked a set of cheapies to test nd32 and nd 64 and wonder if its worth the cost of buying the Polar Pro versions for these values. Good review !
You are correct! A shutter speed of 60 and 1/60 are the same thing. Both refer to 1/60th of a second. Some cameras display it as 1/60 while others abbreviate it to just 60 to save screen space. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance (:
I am going to an indoor trade show where there will be displays, bright flashing neon / LED lights, and such. What white balance settings do you recommend, shutter speed? Is there a need for a filter? Thanks!
Hey Michael, I always keep shutter speed at double frame rate. For White Balance, its completely up to you on how you want your end result to look. Experiment with different values when you get there and shoot the look you like. You probably will not need a filter for indoor filming, have fun!
Hi ...superb video, thanks. Could you tell me if there is a phone to Osmo adapter ''microUSB 2.0, USB On-The-Go, for Oppo Rs9 Plus'' ...the 2 adapters that came with the Osmo pocket don't fit...?
Thanks for the great video. Helped me a lot with my photography! Just wondering about what you said at 4:48 when you added the ND32 filter to bring EV 2.7 to almost 0. Since ND32 is a 5-stop filter, wouldn't that actually bring EV to -2.3 (2.7 minus 5)? Thanks for the advice!
Thanks for watching, using EV allows you to quickly dial in a little positive or negative compensation in order to adjust the scene to your liking. It’s a useful tool to have control of!
Mine has just started beeping overtime I press a button, I never had confirmation beep before and I'd rather not have it. Any ideas? There's no silent mode option but for some reason I had it before this evening.

Just curious why you didn't do an ND filter/no filter comparison? Also questioning whether or not you suggested these particular camera settings to justify the need for your filters....
Hey Ava! Every creative has their own preferences on which cinematic settings they like in order to get their specific go-to look. As a result, these are our favorite settings in order to achieve this. (:

Great vid. Just received my polar pro filters. Looking forward to testing this week. I have a quick question though. What are the adjustable lenses supposed to do when you turn the dials and how are you supposed to adjust while they are fitted to the gimbal. Seems really finicky. Thanks.
Hey, Dave! Rotating the ND/PL filters adjusts the polarization intensity. Doing so gently should cause no harm to the gimbal (we'd recommend supporting it lightly with one hand while rotating with the other). However, if you want to test it out prior to application you can hold the filter up to one eye and rotate until you're happy with what you see. Feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions (:
My footage looks great, but is there a reason I still get jittery video playback when I pan the OP even after I apply the 180-degree rule and have a ND filter on? Should I be panning way shower then normal? What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Hi Atort Photography, thanks for the question. It really depends what you will be shooting as each filter set will give you options for photos, videos, or both. @PolarPro I am very interested in vlogging on the trail with the dji osmo. Couple of questions, how do I zoom, is through the phone or the actual camera. How about the built in mic? Is it good enough to pic up my voice in the outdoor environment?
The Osmo Pocket has a fixed focal length and unfortunately does not allow you to zoom. The built in mic is okay, but has a tendency to pick up a lot of background noise when shooting outside-- we would suggest using an external mic like we used in this video: ua-cam.com/video/LW3ao5BcyQo/v-deo.html
Thank for your clip. I have a question : how can you decrease the speed 50%? Do you use the other video maker to do that after or direct in Osmo pocket?
Hi quac bao Tran, Thanks for checking out our video and hope you found these tips useful! We have another video covering this topic, give it a watch! ua-cam.com/video/l8v3YFwQAgU/v-deo.html
Hi quac bao Tran, This is a tough question as conditions and lighting are consistently changing and is the reason for providing a set that you can switch on the fly when needed. However, if you were going to go out for a day with only one filter, I think the ND8 or ND8/PL would be a safe choice!
I realize this may be a question for DJI but I’m experiencing some skipping or flickering when I am panning. I believe to have all my pro setting perfectly setup for certain shots and it will often still do this. Any idea why?
For Slow motion shots that you slow down in post 60fps or 120fps is what you are looking for. A lot of people thing 24fps looks the most "cinematic" but my personal preference is 30 frames per second for videos such as this one. Then for our higher production shoots (like our Quartzline video) we use 24fps. Hope that helps!
Awesome video, one doubt tough, for normal recording situations, what works better for cinematic look, to shoot directly at 24fps 1/50 or 30fps 1/60 and resampling the framerate back to 24 fps in post?
Thanks Mauricio, the term "cinematic look" is very subjective. Most feature films use 24 fps, but we usually shoot in 30fps for youtube. Also we don't resample footage, if we are going to upload on a 24 timeline, we will shoot in 24. Hope that helps, and happy to answer any other questions!
Hey, Joshua! We would recommend reaching out to DJI support for this question, as they will be able to lend a little more guidance on this issue. Also, this forum may provide some further insight as well: forum.dji.com/thread-175225-1-1.html
Wow!! This is going to help a lot... I just through it all in auto and hoped for the best... I am going to use. your suggestions in my next cook!! Thanks bro!
Hey Drew Trains, glad it helped! In terms of what filters to use, it depends entirely on the outdoor lighting conditions and your intended look of your footage. For example, in extremely bright mid-day conditions you would want to use an ND32 or ND64; whereas if it was golden hour, you would not want to use a filter this dark. For further details and specifics, feel free to reach out to our support team as they will be happen to answer any questions (: support@polarpro.com
Thanks for the tips! I’m Torn between the cinema series - shutter & the Vivid with ND/PL. Question: does the rotation of the bezel on the Vivid series just orient the gradient horizontal, like on the Mavic set or does it lessen and increase a holistic amount of polarisation across the filter? I’m finding conflicting info on the web. Thanks in advance if you get the chance to answer. All the best!
Hi Dan, Thanks for watching and hope the tips help you on your next use of the OP! You are correct, the Vivid series is designed similar to that of the Mavic set in regards to the orientation. Hope this helps narrow the decision but let us know if you have any further questions!
Hey, there! We would love to give you personalized advice on this issue; please reach out to our support team: support@polarpro.com who will be happy to help (:
Hi PolarPro! I have encountered a problem (and have seen other people experience the same issue as posted in the DJI forum) regarding losing milliseconds of audio when we film >5mins in 4k60fps with DJI pocket 2 (without external microphone). Have you encountered the same issue when you shoot continuous videos greater than 5 mins in DJI pocket 2? Any suggestions? Thanks!
Why not just record at 60fps at all the time? And off course, I am going to get the PolarPro as soon as they are in stock here. I also use them for my drones :-)
Hi Steen, that's a great question, and it is actually personal preference. There are quite a few UA-camrs who shoot 60fps for regular speed. When you don't slow down 60fps, motion doesn't look the same as we perceive it in real life. 24fps and 30fps is much closer to how we perceive motion naturally. However there is no right or wrong way to do it, its up to you as the cinematographer to dictate how your audience receives your work
Hi Luca, A good starter set is the Standard Series 6 - Pack ($79.99) that will cover everything you need. If you are looking for higher production grade glass, our Cinema Series Vivid + Limited Collection is a good starting set too. Happy to answer any other questions!
@@lucaa.trunzo4116 If you are looking for a 3-pack to capture cinematic footage, the Shutter Series with the ND4, ND8, and ND16 or the Vivid Series with the ND4PL, ND8PL, and ND16PL would be the best option. The difference will be that the Vivid Series has the rotating polarizer, whether or not you want/need this feature during your filming will determine the best set for you. Hi Gilesie, Thanks for watching and the positive feedback! At this time we do not have plans for a gradient filter for the Osmo Pocket. Is this something you believe would be useful for yourself and the other OP consumers?
That's a shame that gradient ND filters aren’t currently in your thinking. For me personally it would definitely be of use. For example, at 00:36 in my video (ua-cam.com/video/JDsT-Omdc3A/v-deo.html) the sky is over exposed, which I feel loses from the reveal and I’m not sure a normal ND filter would have helped with this? What do you think? Also, if you are making golden hour time lapses (which I often use your app to assist me with 😊) this type of filter would help. I would like to think there are multiple more examples, maybe you could run a quick Instagram poll? 😉 From your 153k followers 😊 I’m hopeful you will be able to get a good feel on if it is a worthwhile venture. 😊
Thanks for following up with the video promoting your case for the gradient ND filters. Here at PolarPro we like to read the comments and the feedback and as you note, if there is enough support for a project, we will certainly assess the feasibility of it!
@@PolarProFilters Thanks that's great news. I'll be keeping my eyes out for them. In the meantime are you planning any giveaways of your current filters or gear? Or is there a way for people to become effectively beta testers for your new kit?
Thanks for watching and the positive feedback on our video! Here is a link to the PolarPro App overview: ua-cam.com/video/1DmoFdb0ZR0/v-deo.html
I find it impossible to apply all the settings you recommend. If shutter speed is twice the frame rate and iso is 100, there is no available adjustment for exposure and I get -3.0EV trying that. So what’s a practical way of doing it? Aperture is fixed at f/2,0
Hi! Thank you for watching our video. To answer your question, to utilize the recommended settings the use of an ND filter is required to get the EV back to zero. If you start the video at 4:20 this concept is discussed in detail. If you are interested in filters or other Osmo Pocket accessories, check out the link in the video description!
PolarPro I’ve thought about filters, but never realised they were vital to do any PRO video with the pocket.. Its a shame you can’t auto the ISO separately from controlling the shutter. I’d stopped just short of there to ask the question! Silly me.
You can change the frame rate of your Osmo Pocket directly on the device itself, or through the app once the device is connected. Let me know if you have any further questions (:

For Slow motion shots that you slow down in post 60fps or 120fps is what you are looking for. A lot of people thing 24fps looks the most "cinematic" but my personal preference is 30 frames per second for videos such as this one. Then for our higher production shoots (like our Quartzline video) we use 24fps. Hope that helps!
@@PolarProFilters thanks, and what is the difference between 24 and 25 fps? and at 4k too?
What kind of camera did you used to record the/this video?
Hi Hanif, Thanks for the clarification. This was recorded using the Nikon Z6!
@@PolarProFilters yes it does! Thank you so much for your help!!
This helps out a lot, since I am planning on buying one. I like how it's not big and bulky.
Glad we could help! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions after purchase(:
@@PolarProFilters Ok thanks! I am sure there is a learning curve.
just got my osmo today. Cannot go into Fine mode while in 4k 60...only 30 and below. Is that right?
Hey, Joshua! We would recommend reaching out to DJI support for this question, as they will be able to lend a little more guidance on this issue. Also, this forum may provide some further insight as well: forum.dji.com/thread-175225-1-1.html
Why not 60fps for regular speed as well? I find pretty much interesting, looks like the movement is more realistic :)
Great video. Curious though. Which camera did you use to film the non Vlogging shots when you had the Osmo in your hands during the wide shots ?
Good question, Luke! This was shot using the Nikon Z7 with an QuartzLine Nd64/PL, and a Zoom F1 recorder for audio.
PolarPro thanks. I guess that makes sense as the quality is so much better than the Osmo especially when A-Bd around the 4 minute mark.
You bet! That Z7 is great, though the Osmo Pocket definitely holds it's own!
PolarPro would you say it holds its own as an A cam. Most people say it is great as a vlog cam but in filmmaking only as a b or c cam ?
Great content man. I’m a new Osmo Pocket user and I appreciate your tips. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching, Ian! Hope you enjoy the Osmo Pocket and hope our video series of tips helps you get started! Happy Shooting!
Wow!! This is going to help a lot... I just through it all in auto and hoped for the best... I am going to use. your suggestions in my next cook!! Thanks bro!
You're welcome! Good luck with your next book! 🙌
This is a great video! Thank You!.... regarding filters... how do you know which filter to use and when?
Hey Drew Trains, glad it helped! In terms of what filters to use, it depends entirely on the outdoor lighting conditions and your intended look of your footage. For example, in extremely bright mid-day conditions you would want to use an ND32 or ND64; whereas if it was golden hour, you would not want to use a filter this dark. For further details and specifics, feel free to reach out to our support team as they will be happen to answer any questions (: support@polarpro.com
These are the tips I needed!! Thank you
Thanks for the tips! I’m
Torn between the cinema series - shutter & the Vivid with ND/PL.
PolarPro Soooooo, to be clear, the rotation lessens or increases the amount of polarization, correct? It seems to work that way.
Great video and answered a couple questions for me. Filters should be here today cant wait.
Thanks for watching Todd! And thank you for supporting our brand (if you chose our filters)
How can I get the menu to show up where I can set shutter speed? I don't have that option right now.
Hey, there! We would love to give you personalized advice on this issue; please reach out to our support team: support@polarpro.com who will be happy to help (:
Great video, but why do you have on that coat in the hot desert?
However there is no right or wrong way to do it, its up to you as the cinematographer to dictate how your audience receives your work
@@PolarProFilters Thanks for your answer. Maybe I should try shooting in just 30 instead of 60 all the time then :-)
THANK YOU MAN! :)
GOOD VIDEO!
Just subscribed...will get my Osmo Pocket tomorrow!
With what kind of camera did you make this video?
Hi Summertime Chris, This was filmed with the Nikon Z7 camera! Thanks for watching!
thank you @@PolarProFilters & no thanks you did a good job
Which set should I buy for my Osmo Pocket to capture cinematic footage?
Hi Luca, A good starter set is the Standard Series 6 - Pack ($79.99) that will cover everything you need. If you are looking for higher production grade glass, our Cinema Series Vivid + Limited Collection is a good starting set too. Happy to answer any other questions!
PolarPro i don’t think I need 6 lenses, just 3. That’s what I had for my drone, any other ideas?
@@lucaa.trunzo4116 If you are looking for a 3-pack to capture cinematic footage, the Shutter Series with the ND4, ND8, and ND16 or the Vivid Series with the ND4PL, ND8PL, and ND16PL would be the best option. The difference will be that the Vivid Series has the rotating polarizer, whether or not you want/need this feature during your filming will determine the best set for you. Again, we are happy to answer any other questions you may have!
Very helpful, thanks!
You are as always awesome..love your tutorials...and your products are of the highest grade and so great...keep up the great work...cant wait for more...
Thanks George we appreciate you as a customer!
Thanks for the work, good video.
Hey Joel, glad you enjoyed it!🤙
Thanks for sharing
Which camera did you use for filming this video?
The Main camera is a Nikon Z7 :)
Amazing! Really cool content! Thanks so much and greetings from Czech republic! 😊 🇨🇿
is there an automatic pan?my handheld pan is not smooth
Hey jz Gurung, there is using the motionlapse feature! You can check out our video on the motionlapse here: ua-cam.com/video/u-MLkI9H9LQ/v-deo.html. We would recommend the use of a tripod or stead surface if planning to use this feature to make it as smooth as possible!
Great tips🎉
Glad they helped!
What camera did you use to film this? The Osmo is too sharp on your face.
we used the Sony a7III-- which is our go-to camera for any film project we do (:
Very informative video.. by the way where can we purchase the mount you have used on your osmo pocket? Any link to share?
Thanks for your positive feedback, Ome Aurelio! Here is the link to our Osmo Pocket lineup: bit.ly/2t9jdV2
Excellent video. Definitely have to get a filter set
Thank you! Let us know if you have any questions on the filters, we would be happy to help
does the app have zoom in function ?
Hi reaction real, there is no zoom function within the app for the Osmo Pocket.
This is highly informative and with sample vids too. Thanks!
Glad we could help!
Hi, EV cannot be set to the my pocket in manual mode. Why?
Hi Stefan, for issues with your Osmo Pocket, we recommend that you reach out to DJI support team for assistance. You can contact them here: bit.ly/30V6PYk
Very useful, ty sir 👌🏼
Wish you had a set with an anamorphic filter.
Great video
Do you recommend 60 for fast scenes? If no slow motion will be applied?
Lastly, for hyperlapse, what would you recommend as far as fps?
Hi Chris, You can certainly use 60fps for fast scenes! We would recommend you take test shots and different frame rates to determine that the look and feel you are trying to create is achieved!
As for hyperlapse, check our our video covering that very topic for our tips and tricks: bit.ly/2uFBNou
I'm new to shooting video. Just bagged a pocket. This video was very useful and a great location 🌵
Thanks for watching this episode, Christaki! Good luck and enjoy the OP! Hope these videos highlighting our tips, tricks, and favorite settings help you along the way!
@@PolarProFilters fo sho. Once I'm more advanced I might bag some of your accessories 👌🏽 Do you know if the pocket works well on the Android app? Planning to get a S10e
@@chr1staki Thanks again! If you have any questions on our products, do not hesitate to reach out! As for Android, we have not encountered any issues with the app. Should be good to go with the S10e!
Nice tips bro. I love this baby camera
Thanks for sharing this!
Great video. Well done.
I need a notebook for all these great tips
Nicely presented. Ordered filters.
14 days to have the PolarLens .... hey team , improve the delay to France ... i will report my buy because too long ... no retailers in France ? ... the video is good ; thanks for your advices
Hi Sebovertherainbow, Thanks for watching and glad that the tips were found useful! We are constantly working to have our products available with as little delay as possible and plan to minimize this as much as possible in the future.
Cheers for the useful video Jeff (polar pro). Are you going to release gradient filter for the DJI osmo pocket? 😊
Here's the video link again: ua-cam.com/video/JDsT-Omdc3A/v-deo.html
Thanks for following up with the video promoting your case for the gradient ND filters. Here at PolarPro we like to read the comments and the feedback and as you note, if there is enough support for a project, we will certainly assess the feasibility of it!
@@PolarProFilters Thanks that's great news. I'll be keeping my eyes out for them. In the meantime are you planning any giveaways of your current filters or gear? Or is there a way for people to become effectively beta testers for your new kit?
Great tips for osmo pocket!
Thanks!
Great video, you give recommendations on which nd filters to use at certain times. How do you make that determination? Thanks!
Thanks for watching and the positive feedback on our video! We recommend to use the guide the comes with the filter sets OR download the PolarPro app in the Apple & Android stores which will help you determine which to use on the spot!
Silly me.
No problem, here to help! Perhaps that will come in the form of another update to the Osmo Pocket! Until then, a filter set would be a great option!
PolarPro Its already on my Wish List on Amazon!
usefull tips! great job thank you
Clever settings. I just start with my osmo pocket. Thank you
wait...where to find and set the frame rate on the Osmo Pocket again?
You can change the frame rate of your Osmo Pocket directly on the device itself, or through the app once the device is connected. Let me know if you have any further questions (:
Thanks dude. By from Switzerland
great tutorial , help me to understand my osmo pocket, THANKS!!!!
Glad we could help! Feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions (:
I like the Osmo Pocket but ND filters are a must. Everything gets blown out otherwise.
Yah, its pretty much impossible to get shutter in that sweet spot without them
