Harley-Davidson loaned this brand new, 2021 Street Glide! I get to ride and experience this motorcycle for a couple weeks and I can't wait to get some miles in her seat! Where should I ride her?? Also, Before you comment about how I could waterproof the GoPro... please read the description! 💗

I bought a 2018 Street Glide Special a few months ago. I’m 5’4” and it fits me well. Previously rode a Heritage Springer and often toll my husband’s road glide on long trips. To me the RG is just smoother at high speeds and I like the look better. The SG won me over because it handled like I was still on my Springer. I had the shorter windshield initially & it would be fine for around town. I put on a taller Memphis Shade and it made a huge difference. Overall, I love my Fancy!

Looks like Harley Davidson is finally learning to take advantage of the motovlog community. I think they will reach so much more of their target audience through motovlogers than through Jason Mamoa commercials. And I like Jason but you guys will sell more bikes

Personally I research the hell out of stuff before I buy it. UA-cam is a great way to learn about stuff and if there’s a bike that I have interest in I will UA-cam it. Great platform to live vicariously through others before I myself take the leap.

Having ridden a Limited with a Batwing and currently have a Road Glide special..I’m more partial to the full faring bikes. Between the two I prefer the Road Glide.

Well, I bought my Road Glide because my Street Glide had too much buffeting, Sharks are better than Batwings....but I had the most fun on the Road King Special the year they came out in 2017, yes with the M8 engines. LOL I can totally relate to this video hahahaha.
-But. you cant ride across the interstate system for LONG HOURS or days on end without a Road Glide, and having the weather radar and navi and XM radio, and Weatherband and the versatility of storage and there really is no substitute to a Road Glide.
Road Kings are the most fun for non highway touring,
Street Glides look pretty when parked outside a bar,
and Road Glides are GODS that walk among mere MORTALS in the motorcycling world.
Having personally seen every state and every province in North America on one? There is no substitute. My 2017 Road Glide Special is on its second engine now and 145,000 miles and rising!
That all being said Dyna's are the coolest street cred known to the Harley world.......dont give up on that bike, keep her for life IMHO........you can pack tons of gear on her and shes a beast.....and it hits home with alot of your viewers having a Dyna

  • @jdeack
    @jdeack 3 роки тому

Jess, the wind from the Street Glide is coming from below the fairing and coming up in front of the tank and creating the buffeting you are experiencing. I have the Ultra Classic and it did the same thing until I went to J&P Cycles and got this to put on my bike. www.jpcycles.com/product/744-635/kuryakyn-chrome-lower-triple-tree-wind-deflector . The biggest gripe I have with the Road Glide is the angle in which the radio is mounted and causing a lot of glare especially if the sun is behind you. Makes it extremely difficult to read the GPS or text on the screen and you won't have that problem with the Street Glide or Ultra Classic Limited.. Ride safe girl! Love your content.

I own both a Road King standard and a Road Glide special. If I had to sell one the Road Glide would be the one I sold. There honestly is not much difference in wind protection and the Road King is a much more playful bike on the back roads. Running it through s turns and just turns in general just so much more fun! The Road Glide is fun if I want to go long day's on a two week trip but you really feel the extra weight in day to day short trip use. Just my opinion.

I'm a Road King kinda' guy, feels like an 800lb sport bike compared to the fairing bikes😁, if I had to choose between the Street & Road Glides I'd prefer the Street Glide because I like the looks of the batwing fairing compared to the shark nose fairing, b.t.w. for buffeting I'd recommend a set of fork mounted wind deflectors, one might not like the looks of them but they work tremendously.

In my opinion...I prefer the Street Glide. I have owned both ......putting 10k miles on each one in all kinds of weather...well not snow!
I was surprised at your wind buffering comments.
I thought both the batwing and the sharknose had exceptional wind buffeting dynamics.
I liked the Streetglide bratwing better simply for the shorter reach and accessibility to my gadgets.
I think you have a hard choice....they are all GREAT super bikes for road trips.

I have a 2019 Street Glide Special and the buffeting is much more bearable with a taller, curved windscreen! However I think it would be even better with a 8.5” or 10” windscreen versus the 6.5” windscreen I currently have.

  • @charlesgru8978
    @charlesgru8978 3 роки тому +1

I'm not a fan of the Sharknose fairing, but I also admit it's a matter of personal preference, not "right or wrong". I have a Street Glide and love it to death, but were I to get a new touring bike....well, it would depend on if I still have my Softail to cruise around on. If yes, I'd save the effort & get another StreetGlide. But if it was to be my only bike, I'd get a Road King Special, and then get a quick-releast fairing with a radio in it for roadtrips. :)

I went to Harley and tried to trade in my 2020 iron 883 for the new street bob, which is very cool and I dig it, but I really want a Sport Glide or a Fat Bob, but they gave me a price of 17 thousand dollars for the new street bob, plus $2500 down, plus my 2020 iron 883, plus an extra $100/month in my payments! Yeah, sounds fair to me.....NOT!! Have they lost their freaking minds!? Something is totally whack with these Harley dealerships here in Oklahoma! I guess I’ll need to start a UA-cam channel about my Harley Davidson, grow it, get super popular, have tons of subs and then MAYBE I’ll get treated like I actually matter to Harley Davidson?

I prefer my BMW ❤its always interesting to see them road tested by those who genuinely ride them without all of the guff .. 👍That wind judder does vary enormously or so I've discovered over my 40 years.. across bikes and the 'fairing' fitted whether as in your case its a 'half or semi enclosed' type. 👀 My girl used to have to put her head down against my back when riding pillion as the air can get thrown up and over buffeting the pillion passengers helmet.. In fairness you don't ride long distance without a fairing as it can be unpleasant re jerking your head etc. Full fairings give leg protection as well from wind and rain in particular.. which leads me to a tip. Wet weather. Can be hell re wearing leather gear as it is NOT repeat NOT waterproof unless specifically chemically treated etc OR NOT GENUINE leather! 👀
    1. Boots can be synthetic and OK OR if you are wearing leather ones ? Gonna get wet feet. Solution? Gonna sound crazy but I learned the hard way with soaked feet time after time until one of my mates bought me a... wait for it LESS THAN $15 pair of PVC overshoes.. 👍Trousers= day starts out great but turns to a real downpour.. still got miles to go? Wet weather gear out with PVC or similar over trousers slid on AND a JACKET cover to match.. NOW almost fully waterproof. Those items cost next to nothing, stashed away under the seat or in the top box etc AH what about gloves? Well you can get synthetic waterproofs or the handlebar muffs that you slide over the and shove your hands into that keep your hands warm AND DRY!

I have had 3 Touring Bikes. 2015 Street Glide, 2016 Road King & 2019 Road Glide. I traded the Street Glide in for the Road King. Hated the Street Glide, to much weight on handle bars at low speed and high winds the handle bars get pushed around. Put 15k on it before trading it in. Road King, love it. Put 52k on it and still have it. I use it for short rides, comfortable bike. Road Glide I put 18k on it and still have it. It's my go to bike for long ride. Great for long rides and riding in the rain. Can't go wrong with Road King or Road Glide. Hope this help. Go visit my Instagram page check out pictures of bikes. 2wheels_rolling

I rode both Road Glide & Street Glide. Had the dealership put 14" windscreen on the Street Glide. Still got buffeting like crazy. The Road Glide was much much much much better of a ride for me personally. I knew it within the first couple miles. I am tall at 6'4, the street glide, I felt to compacted. 2021 RGS sits in my garage now. Just picked it up Saturday with 6mi on it. Could Not be happier.

RoadGlide, hands down! Way less buffeting from wind and semis! Each mentioned has the exact same frame!!! Don't ever change your suspension by lower to fit you, change your SEAT! Your suspension is designed that way for a reason. Only change your suspension if you are upgrading to a fully new system. There are a ton of great seats out there, change the seat.. and again, RoadGlide! Each are great bikes...if your buying, don't buy one that's LIKE what you are used too, buy something new! I did, had a Heritage Soft Tail for 14 years, bought a RoadGlide last April! Freaking love it! I was in love my Heritage, and didn't want to trade it in, but I couldn't afford a new / used one if I didn't. Got that 2018 RG, haven't looked back!! Getting ready for a 2000 mile solo trip next month! Stay safe. Really enjoy your channel 😀

You're too young for any of the 3......
Get the sport glide as in SPORT ! You look the SPORTY type and get working customizing it to your wants and comforts. After all big part of having a bike is personalizing it to be your reflection. I have one since 2018, and still replacing parts. Looking at it, I doubt anyone would be able to guess it's a SG. But......it's me.
BTW, it's difficult to find neutral on most new bike. Not a big deal.....either hit neutral a second before stopping or have your mechanic adjust it.
Next, you can place as tall a transparent section of the fairing as you like.
The SG is a nimble, very responsive, "young and sporty" version of the 3 tourers you have mentioned with the difference that it's not such a heavy looking bike.....rather it's nimble, very responsive and at the same time a real cruiser.....it has the sporty looking bags......
You're too young and too sporty of a person to be sitting on those 3 "more settled & older" ones, as great as all 3 are.

So, you say that the Red Street Glide fits you like a glove! Well Tweetie, sounds like that one's for you! seems like
you handle the bike very well and it grew on you in a flash! Well now, the price comparison from a 2020 Street Glide
to a 2021 seems to have gone down from the previous year, while the APR of 8.9 percent after the down payment of
10 percent on 84 months term at $384 per month, is nothing to sneeze at compared to the purchase of a car which
is a lower APR finance. If you are totally convinced that you NEED that bike, dare I suggest that you pay a minimum
down of 20 percent, and when making the monthly payments (now adjusted), that you set aside a single payment of
1 1/2 's worth of payment or for instance of $576, to make an extra annual payment (or a 13th) installment to reduce
the principle towards the loan each year; and that will save you interest paid for the life of the loan!! Other than that,
perhaps that is the bike for you provided that you have a very good if not great income and great credit! Some people
here recently, now are saying is NOT the time to go in debt, if not debtor's prison, provided that this kind of wisdom is
hard for some people to actually experience. So, be careful but be wise! Somethings that are shinny and new can get
you into trouble Hon! Ask me, I know from the experience/outcome back in 1986-1989!

Love love LOVE the Street Glide. I like the gauges and GPS up close. The weight of the fairing is negligible when riding. At a stop, yeah, it’s a pain. The little wind screen is notorious for buffeting. I switched mine out for an F4 Customs 8 inch screen, problem solved. Enjoy!

Definitely a taller windshield. I know the "blade" style ones that tend to come with the bike look cool, but, for the most part, are completely useless at blocking enough wind, hence the buffeting. I had to do it with my Vic X Country. Highly recommend, if/when you get a new hog bagger, to take a look at Long Ride Shields (LRS). They're priced right, look awesome and most importantly, they WORK! www.longrideshields.com

A recurve windshield and an air dam on the back side of the forks would help the buffeting.

Taller windshield. I have a 2014 Firefighter shrine Street Glide. The standard screen looks OK but isn't really practical. A taller screen will cocoon you. I personally ❤️the Street Glide and like being closer to the front of the bike. The Road Glide for me is like trying to reach the car front dashboard. It's way to much of a reach up front , but I believe it's better for taller riders to stretch out ( less cramped). I also don't like the fixed ,frame fairing but even though I haven't had any problems with high winds on the Street Glide it would be easier to turn just the handle bars on a Road Glide.

    At 8:45 in...
Was I the only one that thought that truck looked like an ol' school county sheriff tailing you in his 87 Crown Victoria? 😂
Oh...and I love my Street Glide. Clockwerks windshield and shaving my seat solved the same issues you have. Plus..I think the fairing looks more "integrated" rather than bolted on. If that makes sense.

Just made my second payment on that exact bike. Except mine is vivid black. Upgraded from my first bike which was an 07 syna street Bob. Loved my dyna but always wanted the street glide. Love the bat wing faring. Hate the shark nose. Personal preference. That red suits you. Think you should consider the upgrade 😉

100% Road King. It sounds like it'd perfectly fit the bill for your needs-- without the extra expense of the things you won't use-- a la Street Glide. OR! Go with the 2022 Indian Super Chief Limited and have it all. Drive safe.

One of the things you mentioned not liking about the Sport Glide is that the gauges and indicators are low near the tank. If I remember correctly, you'll find similar positioning of gauges on the Road King. For me, it was so close between getting the Road King -- it looks SO GREAT! -- but I ended up getting the Road Glide because of the nav system and better-viewable gauges. I also prefer the looks and the frame-mounted fairing of the Road Glide over the Street Glide.

I ride a Honda CTX 700N DCT, which does not have a fairing, but I added a Puig windscreen. I enjoy seeing the road in front of me, so fairings seem like car dashboards to me. That said, if I were riding a Harley, it would definitely be a Road King. That fits my riding style. No fairing, just clean visible road in front of you. You can see my bike on my you tube channel.. Take care. Enjoy your videos, and you ride very well.

Road King would be great with a Memphis Shades fairing and T bars (Shadetree Road King Kong) but it has the speedo in the tank that you hate.
Street Glides are nearly impossible to fit with T bars, and as you found out, there is a buffeting issue from both above and below the fairing. I tried 5 windshields and finally gave up and cut the stock shield down to one inch high. I get wind in the face but it’s clean air with no buffeting.
Road Glide - T bar it and relocate the gauges like Adam Sandoval. That might be the ticket for you.
How about a camping trip to KRiver in the fall - maybe attend Adam’s October event?

Love the channel. As far as which of the 3 touring bikes to get, I recommend the Road Glide. I’m a little biased, I know. But, I had a Road King for a while, which I loved and still miss. I’ve done pretty much the same trips and rides with the RG that I did with the king, and you just can’t compare the comfort. Radio was a big deal for me. I had rumble road audio speakers on the king, and as good as they were (highly recommend) it’s not the same as actual speakers connected to a real radio system.
Riding wise, the king is the best handling bike in the fleet hands down, but for longer trips the shark takes the cake. Never ridden a street glide longer than around the block, so can’t really speak on that. But ultimately, whichever bike you can ride for 2 hours between stops and not pray for instant death when you get there is the one for you. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for the content and as always, shiny side up, rubber side down. ✌🏼
P.s. look into freedom shields windshields. Great company, and they work awesome!

I think the pick between the 3 is completely a personal choice. I personally love the openness of a windscreen, but I’m old school. My Dyna was great, my Heritage is great, and I really don’t want any more weight than it. At 5’7” on a great day😂 backing a bagger is just too much. Love the looks of a RG or RKS but that extra weight and height is a bit much. Yes they can go lower but you lose suspension travel and most seats used to lower you just suck.
At the end of the day you have to ride what you feel best on and like the most (and can afford). I see people give opinions like they are the only way to go and man that is just the opposite of what biking is all about. Your ride is your ride! Whatever you choose has to be comfortable or you’ll end up with a bike that sits more than it’s ridden.
Be safe out there Jess, and keep up the great work. You are a wonderful ambassador for our passion of riding and kudos to Harley on finally picking up on the importance of vloggers in the biking world. Congratulations on your success, it’s been a lot of work but obviously it’s paying off.

I have a 2020 Road King Special, and for me it is the most versatile bike. Add the windshield and soft lowers for colder weather or rain, or remove those for hot weather riding. As far as the buffeting, that is caused by the wind coming up over the tank. I just added the fork wind deflectors, also known as fork fangs. They have completely eliminated the buffeting. If you buy a Street Glide, they will fit that bike as well.

  • @K9RickRet

All three of the H-D baggers that you’re considering are the same basic bike (frame & drive train), with obvious difference being the fairings. If you don’t care about or want the infotainment system, then go with the Road King. Eliminates the weight of the fairing, and the $, changes center of gravity and handling…for the better! But most important is which one are you most comfortable with! 👍
