You basically rebuild the motor. Wow that's a lot of work. How much time do I have to wash the motor with salt away in the field and then take it home for more thorough cleaning, before its too late?
considering that the jets are the most restrictive part of those passages, there is no reason to remove them other than proving that you haven't learned what makes a carburetor work. Flushing and blowing out with air is all that you needed after removing the float bowl. Don't make things that are simple into something difficult.
Great video! I followed these steps on my mercury 150hp 4 stroke outboard. It kicks right up first try now. However, it cannot handle speed. When I go above 15mph the motor turns off. Then it will only be able to handle 10mph and shut off. Then goes down to 5mph and shuts off. It also makes a very high pitched whining sound when idling. Any thoughts of what could be going on? Thanks, Dave
Good video but that was major overkill on the carburetor. All you had to do was drop the bowl and blow the Jets out. There was no reason to pull the manifold and carburetor off and take the carburetor apart.
That guy knows what he is doing, great job, clean work!
surely putting the whole thing in a fresh water tank is the best first move

Don't think y'all needed to take the carb down that far, pays to be thorough though. Excellent work.
These little plastic clips at 20:50 are very notorious for breaking. I always secure them with a zip tie whenever I'm working on yamahas.

David Potalivo I’m assuming that some of the electrical components are fried
For how long was it submerged?
Was it submerged in salt water?
No
