This is what it feels like to be at the bottom of the food chain. This is war.
it doesn't look like the player is in much danger mechanically though, like still just shooting basic enemies on a linear path with a tutorial guide. All the destruction is happening outside that path as a wallpaper and it's mostly faraway views of stuff being exploded, we don't exactly see people being harvested up close and grisly
@@alisonpurgatory85 Sure but I think that's the point. Save those more gruesome up close scenes for later. Besides, it still has to be a tutorial, and it's still a cool as hell area.
Really pays off if you own a copy of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Mass Effect 2 & 3 have bonus equipment available if you have a KoA save on your system. Makes Shepard's pistol look like a pop-gun.
It's mainly in a DLC from Mass Effect 2 but Shepard was only able to buy everyone in the galaxy about a year by sacrificing MILLIONS of Batarians by blowing an outlying relay the Reapers could have used to leapfrog to the Milky Way Galaxy faster which wiped out the entire solar system.
First this is the one opening from a game that made my jaw drop, I am always speechless every time I watch this scene. Secondly at 21:17 the two fires look like a pair of eyes, Kinda reminds me of Saren looking down upon the Galaxy at what Shepard delayed.
It makes me so mad there wasn’t a “save humanity and damn everyone else option” like the first two games were alluding to. Staying with Cerberus and watching them slowly twist and transform as they use reaper tech to fight the reapers would have been amazing

as old as this game is I want to say, I don't think it does Reapers justice. imagine if they were simply floating ominously in the atmosphere, instead of landing and lumbering slowly around the city scape. imagine if their mass effect fields were so powerful they would pull buildings, vehicles and people in the air. imagine if instead of fighting husks and other generic cyborg zombies we'd fight people, civilians, who, in true lovecraftian fashion, were instantly indoctrinated by the sheer presence of so many Reapers at once, and the terror they instill
oh and remember how Sovereign said that their numbers would block out the sun on every world? imagine if that was what would happen on Earth, like it was literal. Imagine reapers so many that the sky goes dark, maybe yellowish to look ominous and apocalyptic
Reapers mission was to destroy organics in all galaxy. It is reasonable they didn't put all their forces on the earth battlefield. Even liara has the thoughts to just stay in her planet because she thinks the harvest gonna take at least 100 years
@@antoniocapone877 their harvest has been going on for 1 billion years, that gives us 20k reapers added in total in all of the cycles, not acounting the ones that had already existed. and assuming it would take 100 years, it's safe to say they would go methodically about it, a civilization at a time, so them spreading their forces thin right away wouldn't make sense to me

The opening always makes me emotional!
better opening than any modern game imagine that in modern graphics
i mean, if the Reapers cleanse all organic life every 50k years theyve done a crappy job
They only harvest the space faring life the species that are in their stone age are left alone
This was the most shocking opening any game has had
It's one of the most cringe openings i've ever seen
A graphical remake and animation updates with some gameplay tweaks would be amazing for this trilogy, as well as proper endings
I remember when this first came out the hopelessness when it pans up to the wreckage burning up with that music I mean damn
My resolution was goosed for the whole opening. Shepard looked like a dwarf running around the screen. Finally fixed it for the Mars mission
"I'm no politician" biggest lie iv ever heard bro is one of the best
First this is the one opening from a game that made my jaw drop, I am always speechless every time I watch this scene.
Secondly at 21:17 the two fires look like a pair of eyes, Kinda reminds me of Saren looking down upon the Galaxy at what Shepard delayed.
Gotta love how Anderson got promoted to president in Rick and Morty
Shep- "You're brought me here to confirm what you already know. THE REAPERS ARE HERE!!"
Man this opening was insane
no importa cuantas veces lo vea, siempre termino llorando XD
The reapers represent inevitability. You can fight it. Run from it. But it can’t be stopped.
7:27 imagine if that table killed shephard.
7:20 Someday we're gonna see that in live action I hope.
Man this opening is far better than most openings I've seen in movies
It makes me so mad there wasn’t a “save humanity and damn everyone else option” like the first two games were alluding to. Staying with Cerberus and watching them slowly twist and transform as they use reaper tech to fight the reapers would have been amazing
This opening, and really the entire game itself, just make you feel like we've already lost. I don't care what anyone says about the ending, nothing can ruin that prevailing sense of dread and sadness that Mass Effect 3 has. Literally "We're all fucked: The Game"
I totally agree.all the 3 games were masterpiece but this one keep you in constant pain. U see dying a lot of friends, innocent people and feel the responsibility for all those lost lives
Three highly experienced admirals walk up to a glass window to observe their base being attacked. Nice job. Shepard is surrounded by idiots
One of the best games ever BioWare has ever produced.I dont know how many times i beat the trilogy yet i end up playing again.
this game was fun to play
I can't watch this video without thinking about Agsii1's edit of this scene.
Man, if Vancouver is unaffordable now... I have no idea what it'd be like in the 22nd century. Good for the Reapers for lowering those prices, though.
Its ridiculous that we don't get a happy ending for Shepherd in this game no matter what paths we take but i can't help it... While ME2 is absolutely the masterpiece its known as... ME3 has always been my favourite of the trilogy 🤷♂️
In the perfect Destruction ending, Shepard is at least alive and breathing. That's all we could hope for.
That little kids death and the music. Probably one of the more iconic scenes in gaming history. I’d rank it up their with the airport terrorist scene in Modern Warfare 2 (I think). I like this one much more. The music knocks it out the park. Ah, the memberberries….
Definitely the best opening coming off the high of the last mission of ME2 just to get your shit pushed in
Still amaized how Bioware could make THIS and then proceed making something like Andromeda and Anthem...
Just realized the voice actor for Anderson is the Sergeant from MW2. "Ramirez! Get control of that Burger Town!"
Wear headphones with this, the Reapers sound fucking insane.
In my option this is my favorite cut scene in any game
Did the arks from mass effect andromeda leave before the invasion or after?
as old as this game is I want to say, I don't think it does Reapers justice. imagine if they were simply floating ominously in the atmosphere, instead of landing and lumbering slowly around the city scape. imagine if their mass effect fields were so powerful they would pull buildings, vehicles and people in the air. imagine if instead of fighting husks and other generic cyborg zombies we'd fight people, civilians, who, in true lovecraftian fashion, were instantly indoctrinated by the sheer presence of so many Reapers at once, and the terror they instill
oh and remember how Sovereign said that their numbers would block out the sun on every world? imagine if that was what would happen on Earth, like it was literal. Imagine reapers so many that the sky goes dark, maybe yellowish to look ominous and apocalyptic
Reapers mission was to destroy organics in all galaxy. It is reasonable they didn't put all their forces on the earth battlefield. Even liara has the thoughts to just stay in her planet because she thinks the harvest gonna take at least 100 years
@@antoniocapone877 their harvest has been going on for 1 billion years, that gives us 20k reapers added in total in all of the cycles, not acounting the ones that had already existed. and assuming it would take 100 years, it's safe to say they would go methodically about it, a civilization at a time, so them spreading their forces thin right away wouldn't make sense to me
I love that they had this all happen in Vancouver.
When I've played ME3 for the first time, after openning scene I tought to myself "Sh*t got serious right now."
Shepard is now back in the alliance
3:00 I came here looking for the dialogue difference if the player didn't complete Arrival. Small one but noticeable.
They hit the Pentagon!
I didnt play this series until the legendary edition and i gotta say. I feel like the drama over the ending is blown out of proportion.
only took them few minutes to breakthrough human's defense in the space and landing on the earth
The military council in this scene.... That's some serious decision making incompetence. No one would be on that council who can't make decisive, split second decisions.
My story with this franchise is funny cause I actually played it in reverse order ME3->ME2->ME1 cause I wasn't interested in it at the beginning + less time due to school
Despite that, ME3's opening made me instantly interested in the franchise. The attack on Earth made me wanna get to the end so that I could make the Reapers pay for what they did to Earth
That's just how powerful this scene was + the OST is a banger
Which invasion was more devastating? This one or the Covenant invasion of Reach?
Still comfortably the best gaming trilogy ever. Revolutionary in so many ways, yet people choose to focus on the ending.
Why didnt they hear from Admiral Hackett? He wasnt indoctrinated through the entire game
the opening started like well crap the repears are coming to suprise there allready here the repears practically said hold my beer
This and Dragon Age are my favorite games. DA needs a remaster.
General shepard and sgt folley
I remember playing a demo
This was a great opening, but it really sucks that the third game removed the ability to holster your weapon - meaning you are stuck in that nauseating zoomed-in, super narrow field of view all the time. Legendary Edition was the perfect opportunity for them to remedy this
