the publisher part was not understandable can u explain what the pyramidion publisher is? What does a publisher do? Do I need a publisher? Ithought CD baby was the publisher?
He doesn't know, that's why a year later and no response. MOST people on UA-cam talking about this topic don't fully know the ins/outs or semantics. They just pretend they do 😆

thanks, from my understanding publishers collect 50% of the (original) songwriter's royalties by default. since these are covers they already have publishers/songwriters who originally wrote and registered the original., you have to mark them as "cover" when submitting. and the short answer is "NO" you don't need a publisher for covers. cheers!

hi ! where I put Pyramidion is where you would put YOUR publishing company. BMI is a performance rights organization like ASCAP. you would need to register a "publishing company" under them if you haven't. this is in addition to your songwriter account if you want to collect publishing royalties directly. cheers!

it's not required, however if you're serious about protecting your music then I would definitely copyright it

I now realize my only hope is to do my own thing; you could say I’m late in waking up. Tell me, is this system fairer than recording companies who take advantage of artist and writers? Which is the best Online service that helps the artist get off the grown.

I know that many big labels make artists sell their soul to the devil. literally. and they have too much control over artist's creative freedom of artistic expression. another option is smaller independent labels. who are probably more fair. but landscape has changed due to covid and in many places playing music is illegal. including church! and everything is even more digital and online than before. good luck to you! and God bless.

Hey! Just out of curiosity: I became affiliated with BMI, and I'm getting ready to release my debut EP. Is there a way for me to add my IPI information the songwriters section? Or does adding songwriters automatically associate you to your PRO's IPI number?

What are the barcodes? Do you have to have them if you are only trying to upload to digital streaming services?
yes, it's required. for digital they use the UPC number of the barcode to track sales.

hi Aishie Galaxy - you can apply for a official youtube chanel through CDbaby once you have music released through them. barcodes aren't free but they can be cheap. free distribution is only if you're distributing on CDbaby store. and you have to pay one-time-fee if you want your music on other stores/streaming services. cheers and good luck

What do you do if CD baby uploads your track to the the wrong artist name if you have never had a release?
you should contact them to sort it out
I set my release date for 2 and a half weeks out. Will it be on Spotify the morning of the date I set it for? That's my biggest concern because that's what I've been promoting on Social Media. If I log in to Spotify that morning and it isn't on I'm gonna flip. Lol First time CD Baby user.

@@432HzMusicTV I realised they explain what a single, Ep and Album implies on the different platforms but for example in this case a single on spotify being 3 tracks doesn't mean they will allow you to upload 3 tracks for the price of one single..

if you're new then wait until they deliver your music to Spotify and then try. for Apple I don't believe you can do that unless ur major label artist..

How much is it to sign up for a PRO like ASCAP or BMI.
From what I was told, it’s a one time fee of $100
last time I signed up (for ASCAP) it was only like 20 one time.

If I'm releasing a large album on CDBaby (12 tracks) & svera single are being released ahead of the album can I simply set the release dates of the singles to be earlier than the rest of the album or will they charge me extra? I was told it's standard practise & would be fine but can't find any info on it.
each single is treated as a separate release with it's own bar code. there's no way to release them separately without paying separately for singles and the album. it's standard practice to do singles first and then the album. but you have to pay for them and release them separately. cheers.

Wait I'm confused when it asked the name of the publisher. What does it mean? What if I don't have a publisher.
if you don't have one CDbaby can collect those royalties on your behalf (they keep a share). or you can register your own publisher under a PRO such as ASCAP or BMI for example. publishers get 50% of songwriter royalties by default with the other half being the songwriter. cheers!

location is just what CDbaby displays on CDbaby site. it doesn't apply to any other distributors. it's only relevant to when your music comes out it would be featured under that location category in the CDbaby site under new releases. so it's up to you what you want it to be..

Hi, you have to follow what CDbaby accepts for audio file types and resolutions and they will take care of the rest like submitting it to Apple..
432 Hz Music well I released through TC. Plus they are giving 3 months free when you transfer from Distro. And TC promo is giving 50% off. Distro Kid cheats on streaming rate and even numbers I feel. That's why they charge only $20 that's how they are covering. This month they gave me 0.0008 for 400k plus streams. That's highway robbery.
There it shows $5 but said 10 for upc barcodes ?!

no way. it usually wouldn't even get delivered to all partners in 1 week. getting paid usually takes at least 1 month or so..

Yes, a basic one, but It’s best to get a Spotify for Artists after So you can manage your info. You can’t edit your Spotify artist profile through cdbaby. Cheers!

yes, however to maximize them I would use PRO or join ASCAP or BMI as well as SoundExchange. I personally use TuneCore Publishing to really maximize it and it's great... cheers

no, mp3 is highly not recommended b/c it's low quality. they have a list of preferred formats. i usually do .wav
