    Most newbies like my self arent too familiar with relays and if you could do a video on how to fully install and set up a relay just for multiple remote turn ons for amplifiers would be a major help for us beginners. I know thats a lot to ask but it could showcase your large relay that had the leds on it and get people to see how easy it is and get people like my self to buy one. Thanks man your videos are awesome and thank you for all the info you put out.

    Great video like Always! One thing about coil polarity, although possibly a topic for a new discussion or a little more advanced users; the flyback diode and why sometimes the polarity in which the coil is connected matters..
    But! A very good video, I love the ways you present things and approach the "learns" 😉 (fantastic for pups doing a learn).
    Keep them coming!😃

      Thank you, I should have stated that this relay does not have a diode and that some on the market do. I didn't want to get bogged down in specifics for a basics video though.

    The kicker ZR series amps have relays on the board. I can't think of another amp that has them on the board. My Yamaha m-70 home amplifier has them but I just don't remember seeing or hearing them on a car amp.

    I'm looking for a clean/easy way to run multiple accessories on my side by side; front/rear/rock lights, radio, fan and winch. I like the relay box you offer and see it's backordered. Any idea of when it will be back in stock? I'm looking at a similar product called a FuzeBlock but from what I can tell it only has a single 30A relay to power all of it's accessories. One of the things I'm trying to figure out is say for instance the winch, it will have it's own relay to actuate the larger relays powering the winch. If using something like your product or similar to the FuzeBlock can relays be stacked?

    Question...? I just added an EQ to my audio system and it introduced noise. After many videos I found this one...thanks, great video. I use a relay in the back for amp remote power, and fans, but would a relay used to power up the head unit and EQ together, along with a shared ground eliminate the noise? My theory is to give both components a shared accessory power from the fuse box, and a new shared ground from the chassis. Both connected to a single relay. Would this work?

    Please help!!! I have a relay in my trunk shutting on and off my amp but it keeps making that switching noise n cutting my subs in and out when they play.. it’s random & really annoying.. the noise it made when you showed clipping the alligator clip on & off.. the blue wire is spliced into one of my sub speaker wire going to my sub box terminals.. I can’t remember if it’s spliced into the positive or neg spkr wire..
    It’s a 3000 w rms Zapco Z3kdII my 4ch Zapco AP doesn’t have one. I have a dsp with remote setting so I want to remove the relay if possible to get rid of it messing up my subs/ amps .. I have clamped 55 V Ac thru that 12 ga ofc so I want to upgrade to 8 or 10 ga spkr wire.
    I have a false floor so have the tear down whole trunk build to access the relay, thank you in advance 🙏

    Pin 85 and 86 are coil wire.. as long as you have +&- to them relay will activate or close the contact for 87 an 30. If no coil activating then 30 and 87a will be closed. U can also make it a latched relay using a diode between the 87 an 85 or 86 matter on output of +or - .. relay are used in every car today from fuel pump to trans power... learn how relays work an uou can have fun..

      @@speaker13100 remote turn on voltage from the head unit will be the same as battery voltage. So if a head unit is connected to a 14v electrical system, it's rem out will be 14v. Everything in the entire system will be 14v including any relays.

    Great video, Ed. It helped give me a better understanding of how they work, especially having seen one exposed. Thank you. The suggestion I have is about a write up I saw on the12volt.com years ago about using relays to switch to 4ohm dvc subs back and forth between 4 ohms at the amp and 1 ohm at the amp. Kinda like using a nitrous button on an engine. You don't always need it but when you do, it's there. 😁

    Im curious as to why you say 2 or more amps require a relay. There is a video here in youtube that shows that is not true. The person tested amount of power that it actually takes to activate the coil on a relay and then powered 8 amps using less than half the power it took to activated the relay. according to these numbers you can actually power 16 amps before you reach the power required to activate the relay.

    • @SparkedEd
      @SparkedEd  2 роки тому

      I probably state it in the video, but forget. The average head unit has a max Amp turn on capacity of 500ma. Many amplifiers can require 150ma for remote turn on making the limit at about 3 amplifiers. A single 20A relay drawing 150ma from a head unit can help to turn on 133 amplifiers.
