I like dewy and glowy, but I couldn’t get past the fact that it looked greasy. Wow! Thanks for taking this one for the team. I’ve been enjoying the Catrice dewy glow setting spray to get my dewy look and its been the perfect amount!
I'm loving that Catrice spray lately too! (I don't wear it in reviews but in my day-to-day I do!) This one was definitely pushing the dewy boundaries - my guess is it would be a total no-go for someone with oily skin. Mine is not even dry enough this time of year to pull it off.
Geek Out of Water Same! My skin has been pretty normal lately, but I chalk that up to a warm fall here in California. I am still fairly new to this make-up game, but I’m starting to understand just how easy it is to overdo it. I mean, everyone should wear whatever they like, but I am still pretty shocked by how quickly a little highlight or blush can go from luminous to disco ball. It is mind blowing. 🤯
I think you looked good! For casual I use Perricone Face Finishing&Forming Tinted Moisturizer. Goes on colorless, perfect color 15 minutes later. I don't use primer with it, think it defeats skin care benefits. But oh, yeah, I have to powder it, much too old to be that, um, radiant.Btw, after studying your spreadsheet and getting my hands on as many 'A' samples as I could, I ordered Dior Backstage foundation from Dior website. Omg! Free ship, 1st time discount and the exquisite presentation blew my mind!!! I'm so happy local Sephora didn't have it in stock.
Wow I've never ordered straight from Dior - and I love a good presentation! I just bought the new Dior fragrance Joy (at Ulta though) and I'm in love. It has such a unique finish to the scent. I also got my winter shade in Dior Backstage in the Sephora sale :-D I wore it tonight filming for Monday!
Love the radiance! I'm coming from a place of super dry s kin so I love radient skin. I hate that it's not full coverage. You looked just beautiful in the sunlight with your beautiful hair color and radient skin. I just placed an order at Beauty list and can't wait til it comes in. I bought the Hourglass ambient palitte edit 4, my first Natasha Denona palette the sunset palette. Liked it better than the gold. Also a few other items I've been wanting. Can't wait to get it in!!! Oh yeah the Wayne Goss Eye brush set. You sold me on those, well everytime I watch you I want something. Lol Love your channel!!
Oooh you will love the ND palette and Goss brushes (well you will probably love everything!) I'm thinking of buying a second set of Goss eye brushes with the gift certificate deal and the 3-payment option. They're just so good.
Hi Shelly, I've had this one as well and my thoughts are similar to yours. I found that after a few hours it was extremely "dewy" and really emphasized my pores...also settled in lines. It was a no-go for me. It does look like it oxidized on you when you were in the daylight. I will say it looked very pretty after you applied it! xxoo
It is definitely radiant. I didn't notice any oxidation. Thought it looked pretty on your skin. I think you might like Buxom show some skin. I discovered it last week, and am loving it. Sorry if you have reviewed it already. I didn't look at your spread sheet!!! 😍
I haven't tried any Buxom foundations yet, Rene! I think I have a different one in my bin awaiting review but I don't think I've bought that one yet - I will try them!
@@goow the show some skin is surprisingly lightweight, yet gives incredibly natural coverage. I believe the color I have is Dim the Light. You might have to go a shade lighter. I'm light, but with a golden undertone. 👍
@@LaurLoVideo I don't have red to cover, but I do have melasma on the perimeter of my cheeks, and I find that it does cover, but I always use a concealer over the spots. It has such a nice feel on the skin. I'd definitely recommend it.
I think it looked fantastic on your for most of the day. I wear this foundation for special occasions in lieu of my LA GIRL HD as I've mentioned my holy grail. The Hourglass is very pretty IMO for special occasions vs. all day wear. I ldid love it on you Shelly! Thank you for the review!
Thanks Shelly for another AMAZING review! I think EVERYONE ( not you the veiwers) is confused by what this product is. It's called a skin-tint which is aka a tinted moisturizer, which typically has LESS COVERAGE than a BB cream or CC cream. With that in mind, I think that the product did AMAZING and held up and covered EXTREMELY well for what it was. It's not as much coverage or lasts as long as the "It Cosmetics CC cream/Foundation " but it also had a better color as the "It Cosmetics CC cream" pulls pretty orangey and it wears out in a similar manner, sort of simply disappears. So with that in mind, people should be quite impressed with the wear time and coverage for a tinted moisturizer. I think it would be fantastic for " no makeup" days and shorter outings! I would not waste your primers on it, I would simply touch it up with your fingers as needed below your blush/ highlight/ bronzer whatever you're using and on the nose and chin. Because your blush area & forehead stayed intact, I would simply touch it up here and there as needed after the four/eight hour mark. I wouldn't even call it a no makeup day, I would call it a natural Foundation day or Foundation break day! Xoxo
Yep I think you're spot on! I don't have a good match in the IT CC creams (I have a few shades and they all pull too yellow on me) so it's nice to have something lighter with a better match!
Hi Shelly!! I am currently addicted to Charlotte Tillburys Hollywood flawless filter! Thought Id never stop using MAC face and body but this one is doing a great job
The CT Hollywood is officially on my "cannot live without" list! Doggone it's pretty!! That's about the level of dewy that I like... this Hourglass is a little too far for me!

I didn't notice any oxidation. The lighting for your daylight check-ins is different from your studio lighting, but the colour at your final check-in seemed consistent with the initial application. You had me at "radiant" but I'm not so sure I want it if it only holds up for 6-8 hours. I trust your ratings because I can pretty much always guess spot on what you're going to give it. I'll wait to see whether you have a grading update in future. As always, thanks for taking it in the wallet for the benefit of those of us at home. Happy weekend!
Yep I'm going to try a couple different primers and see if anything makes it wear longer - because that's a big downside for me. I'm usually gone for at least 10 hours at a time and rarely do any touch-ups on my face throughout the day (maybe lipstick, and sometimes that is a stretch!) I'll keep you posted!
Hi Shelly. Thanks for another great product review. I thought this looked really pretty on you. Perhaps best used for special occasions where you don’t need longer wear. BTW I’m still patiently waiting on your PMG haul review. Can’t wait💜
Hey! Did you have a birthday?? Happy Birthday!! I know you mentioned something in a past vid. I just can’t remember the exact day you said or which video it was. Anyway HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎉🎂🎁 Thanks for your hard work!! See you in the next one!!
I just wrote that idea down, Belinda - and I also just picked up a few more items of organic makeup from a local indie shop near me so I bet I almost have a full face! Thanks!!
Hi Michelle! I get the pink sponges on Shop Miss A - they're $1.55 and they have 3 shapes, and a portion of the proceeds go to animal charities :) Here's the beauty blender shaped one - go.magik.ly/ml/gj2w/
This one might be a great mixer for foundations that are too dry and cakey. I wonder if you mixed this with the new Candid one if that would keep it less dry looking? On it's own it looked a bit waxy on camera. In person, I dunno.
I had the same experience with the Illusion skin tint...looked good for about 4 hours, and then it’s a hot mess. I have dry skin like you, and it did not feel dry at all. But I looked greasy at the end if the day when my face wasn’t greasy at all. I also thought it was too thick to be called a skin tint, but maybe that’s just me. On the plus side I just ordered my third e.l.f. Ultimate Blending Brush (on your recommendation...I love it) from Ulta today, and it’s one of 100+ items they are giving 10x points for through this weekend. I’m lazy with brush cleaning so I like to have clean backups. 🙂
I almost bought a bunch more of the Elf brushes for the 10x points but I talked myself out of it because I have about a dozen of them! 😂😂😂This was definitely more coverage than I expected by the name of it. I'm curious to see how it mixes with a more dry foundation - might work better as a mixer!
Is the Charlottte Tilbury powder u used today worth the money. I mean I've heard it's not as good as people say and I've heard it's the best ever so just wondering what u thought. Sorry if u covered this before and I missed it.
Hi Sherry! I am on the side of the fence that loves it :) I use it as a setting powder and it gives a very blurred finish. It's especially good for helping out foundations that don't do enough blurring on their own. But I also wear it on days when I'm just doing some spot concealer and no foundation, and then I kind of buff it into the skin - same blur, tiny bit of coverage to even everything out.
Geek Out of Water thanks for answering me when I ask a question. I appreciate that a lot. It sounds like a great powder. I've heard beauty gurus say it's not as amazing as they anticipated then I see em using it all the time lol
hi, shelly! i thought at your mid day check in, it really had oxidized a lot, it might have been the direct sunlight that created that illusion (or my colors on my screen). too glowy for me for sure. anyway, looking forward to seeing what is next and hope you have an excellent weekend planned. take care and enjoy! ~k
The direct sun made it look a bit darker (the afternoon sun had a very golden light to it that day). I think it might have been a little less pink by the end of the night but not as bad as I thought when I saw it mid-day. Have a great weekend, Karen! Saturday I'm headed to the annual black-tie-optional gala fundraiser event for the Wildlife Center of Virginia where I volunteer :)
Hi Shelly! Another question...because of your location ... do you order on line from Sephora or travel to get color matched for new products? While I have both Ulta and Sephora close to me...might be a great video or tip within a video on tricks to ordering online for color matches. If you come to Richmond to shop...would love to say hello while you are there! 😄
Hey Michelle! I'd say all but maybe 3x a year I order online. I have an Ulta and a Sephora JCP here but the Sephora doesn't carry many brands and the closest full-size Sephora is an hour away in Charlottesville. So sometimes for the Rouge sale I'll drive out to Cville and shade-match a bunch of foundations. But usually I just wing it and hope the online descriptions are accurate. I've had some pretty bad online guesses so I might not be good at advice for choosing online! 😂😂😂
Belif True Cream Moisturizing Bomb is my ride or die! go.magik.ly/ml/139i3/ Any time of year, day or night, under makeup or not. It's my absolute all time favorite. For body, it's La Roche Posay Lipikar Balm. go.magik.ly/ml/139hy/
😂yeah the sun was getting lower on the horizon so it had a little warmth to the light, but I definitely think the foundation moved away from the pink undertone it started with more toward yellow, even in the pure studio lighting. Melted DreamCicle 😂😂😂
I love a dewy foundation! I wonder if a setting spray would have kept it from wearing off/breaking down. I thought it made your skin plump and moisturized. I may be biased as I am quite dry myself so I am always drawn glowy skin.
I'm definitely going to play around with this one to find its preferred primer/setting spray because if I can get it to last a little longer, I think it'll be great for mid-winter when my skin is parched dry!
I have the same type of skin as you. Since you have reviewed so many different foundations, what is your absolute favorite as far as long wearing and one that gives some luminosity to the skin?
That is the shiniest foundation I've seen you wear. The shade seemed good though. Interesting that the primer side had more makeup missing at the end of the day, maybe caused it to slide off? During your daylight check-in, I too wondered if it had oxidized a bit but indoors it looked okay. :)
Hey Shelly!! Definitely illuminating for sure! I can see a slight oxidation shift but not a major shift like some others. It didn't look too bad at the 3/4? Hr mark. (Beautiful tree i definitely I agree! ) However, by night fall it had turned into a shiny disco ball mess. Ugh! Never A good look. Definitely see the lack of product left on both sides. Almost as if you used no primer or powder anywhere. I'm curious, if you use it under another foundation, if it would give you that glow from within/glass skin look but not break down the other foundation and wear off as badly. Seems like it would be better as an illuminating "primer" base rather then an actual foundation. 🤔 I did like the glow it had at the beginning especially for when your skin is dry. Its hard to find that type of glow on a dry skin. Just wish the performance was better. 😒 Thanks For The Review. Enjoy your weekend love! ❤ PS - I just noticed the colorful wall behind you! 😲 Did You Change It Or Am I just slow in noticing it instead of all the cool things on the shelves?? 😂 🤯
Hi Joleen! I'm curious to mix this one with a drier foundation and see what happens. I'll also try it with a couple more primers and see if I can find a combo that eeeeks a few more hours out of it. And you are not slow! :-D I rotated my vanity to face the other direction because I got new lights and didn't have enough space to fit them in the other way. I had my setup this way in the very super beginning of my channel, then flipped it so I could get a big window facing me for natural light during foundation videos. But it was pretty inconsistent light with the balcony over that window, so it wasn't really benefitting the lighting situation. So recently I bought new lights and rearranged again!
@@goow so glad it wasn't just me being super focused on the shelving items!😂 I'm usually pretty observant but had that moment of wait... has it always been like that?! 🤔 how did I never notice it before?? 😳😱 I'll be 45 in Feb and I was hoping I hadn't started losing my mind yet. 😂 Definitely Would Like To Hear An Update On What You Find Testing This Out Different Ways. ❤
Shelly, I hope you won't be offended by this, but do you have a way that we, as your subscribers, can help you pay for the products you review? We could do it anonymously, if that's a concern. Aside from the fact that I just adore you, your reviews are very well informed and a helluva lot of fun. Best place on UA-cam!
Thanks, April! No offense taken at all! I have no aspirations to quit my day job over UA-cam but I do hope that someday I'll make enough through the ads/links to at least make my out-of-pocket makeup expenses minimal. I spent $7k on makeup last year and I don't even want to see the total this year! The best thing that helps earn money (other than people watching on UA-cam!) is using the links in my description boxes. I get a percent or two of each purchase made through those links :) Thank you!
I was wondering the same thing April. I've been thinking of sending her something too. She helps us save so much money on products I felt it was the least I could do. Sometimes I just let her videos play one after the other to let the ads run and run.
Hey Boo Boo Butters I’ve sent her a few things. Not money, just little decorations. However, I’m sure you could send her Ulta, Target, Walmart, or Sephora gift cards. Her P.O. Box is in the description. I’ve seen other UA-camrs receive gift cards. Shelly would NEVER ask for that, though. ☺️
I love skin tints but they don't work for me anymore( wish they did) I need full coverage as I have lots of discoloration to cover. I like the dewey look that that it gave though. 👍🏼
I have super oily skin and your 12 hour checkin looks just like my face after 5 hours with the mattest of foundations! Lol hard pass for me, but nice to see you glowing like us oilies today! So funny how extremely different skin types can be.
Ok I found the most AMAZING product for fine lines, even deep set lines, and wrinkles!!! Have you tried the Murad Rapid Collagen?? OMFG after the 1st use, and you need a small amount, my smile lines and 11s (which are so deep set, I'm very expressive or furrow? all the time) were diminished considerably. I use at night and under my makeup and my smile lines are non existant and my 11s are barely there. I use under my eyes too and those wrinkles have gone down so much too. It's super expensive but worth the cost totally. But I found a vendor on Mercari that sells 25ml (5ml bottles) for $15!!!??? 😲 I just had to mention it cuz I had deep smile lines and I think it would do wonders for you like it's doing for me!!
@@StephiesCorner Ya I bought 10 bottles cuz its so good!! You will actually do a double take in the mirror, which is what I did, cuz you won't believe the results. I can't believe I didn't try it sooner!
Hm, this product looks interesting! I don´t think it will cover my red cheeks but it looks like it could be light enough, and I always have problem with finding that. But I´m not ready for paying that amount lol
I didn't love this one. Mind you, when I tried it, my skin wasn't in the best shape as I had only just re begun my skincare journey. I actually found it looked quite cakey and broke apart very early into the day. I am hunting for the best BB and CC creams. Both the *Dr Jart BB creams* and *Lainage BB Cushion Hydra Radiance* seem to be quite popular as far as Sephora goes, but omg Yesstyle has soooo many korean makeup brands and a endless supply of BB and CC creams. Do you ever shop on there?
I've been looking at that Laneige cushion... thinking about it! I just wrote down yesstyle because I've heard of it a bunch of times and always forget what it is before I have time to go look! I need to check it out!
@@goow Actually, I ended up becoming too overwhelmed and abandoned my cart on there last night. Its unreal how many products they have! Also, the website seemed kinda glitchy on my phone. Im going to try on my computer next time I'm on there maybe. I kinda went over board during the Sephora Rouge sale last week and the Beauty Boutique online points event tonight (Canadian thing.) So maybe it's for the best anyways. Seeing as I have bought five high end foundations plus a boatload of miscellaneous makeup and skincare in the past 3 weeks 😬
I can definitely see the difference with the side you used primer. Your pores and lines were definitely more noticeable at the end of the day on the side you didn’t.
Hey Lisa! I just started getting into perfume maybe a year ago! I should do a video... I'm soooo bad at describing scents that it would probably be useless! But I was thinking of taking one of those quizzes where you tell it what things you like to smell and it tells you the profiles of perfumes to try - and maybe that would give you guys enough information to get in the same ballpark :-D I just bought Dior Joy and I'm in love. Kat Von D Sinner and Juliette Has a Gun - Not a Perfume are my two favorites. I also love Marc Jacobs Daisy and Pinrose Pillowtalk, and I like KVD Saint too. Those are my constant-rotation perfumes right now.
Woah, that looks super oily. Not a fan of this one at all. Not sure if it's my screen settings but that really never looked like you had foundation on it just seemed like you smeared oil all over your face. Hard hard pass for me. Looks like it is good for those that enjoy that type of look though. Thanks for the video. Hope you are having a great weekend.
I'm hoping there's a primer/setting spray combo that might make it hold on a bit better. I'll keep you guys posted if I come across any winning combos!

Is this a dupe for the Neutrogena skin tint? I use, and like, that product.
This wears a little bit more dewy on me than the Neutrogena - I might even say I like the Neutrogena a little bit more.
Hi Shelly! Looks very nice on you! Until, you did your last check in😳I think it will be nice for shorter days. 😃Have a great weekend🌺🌺🌺
Yep definitely for shorter days - it was very pretty the first half of the day!
Love the skin tint but am curious on your take
Yand it does oxidize on me after a few minutes
I thought maybe I was losing it but it did seem to oxidize - very slightly, but it was nowhere near as pink at the end of the day as it started out!
hi, shelly! i thought at your mid day check in, it really had oxidized a lot, it might have been the direct sunlight that created that illusion (or my colors on my screen). too glowy for me for sure. anyway, looking forward to seeing what is next and hope you have an excellent weekend planned. take care and enjoy!
@@goow hope it was wonderful!
Thanks for always doing the dirty work for us!!
Always an adventure! I just filmed day 1 of the next Foundation Fest and it is a doozey! 😂
Please tell me what moisturizer you use?????
Belif True Cream Moisturizing Bomb is my ride or die! go.magik.ly/ml/139i3/ Any time of year, day or night, under makeup or not. It's my absolute all time favorite. For body, it's La Roche Posay Lipikar Balm. go.magik.ly/ml/139hy/
My first thought in natural light was it oxidized. I am a slight bit more pale than you. Might look like Melted DreamCicle on me.
😂yeah the sun was getting lower on the horizon so it had a little warmth to the light, but I definitely think the foundation moved away from the pink undertone it started with more toward yellow, even in the pure studio lighting. Melted DreamCicle 😂😂😂
@@goow I have faced melted DreamCicle for years, LOL!!!! My skin.. it does crazy things!! Just moody!
I would say my top 3 luminous would be Hourglass Vanish stick, Estee Lauder Water Fresh Nude, and MAC Mineralize :)
Geek Out of Water Thank you so much!😊
That is the shiniest foundation I've seen you wear. The shade seemed good though. Interesting that the primer side had more makeup missing at the end of the day, maybe caused it to slide off? During your daylight check-in, I too wondered if it had oxidized a bit but indoors it looked okay. :)
lol yes I don't think I've ever been so shiny in my life!!!
PS - I just noticed the colorful wall behind you!
I'm all over it, Shelly! I have Prime, so I luv me some Amazon.
I was wondering the same thing April. I've been thinking of sending her something too. She helps us save so much money on products I felt it was the least I could do. Sometimes I just let her videos play one after the other to let the ads run and run.
@@heybooboobutters2862 You guys are the best!!! 💜
It is very light reflective.
Very!!!
It is wild, isn't it??!!! Body chemistry is fascinating!
I love the super dewy look on my 48 yr old dry skin
Might have failed in the strength department but it sure looked nice on you. Your skin always looks good though....!
Thanks, Kara Ley!
Hey Sara, I will definitely check that out! I love Murad!
I'm going to try it!
Hi Shelly! I was just wondering if you wear perfume? If you do, I would love to see some that you enjoy.
Too bad. This one sounded fabulous. BooHiss!
Thanks, love🍃🌸.
Man looking for a good foundation is like needle in a haystack!!!
😂it totally is!!
Yeah it's a super-dewy finish (bordering on shiny, depending where you draw the line between dewy and shiny!)
For a skin tint it really fell apart. I really liked it in the beginning, but anything that leads to polka dot pores is a hard no.
I'm hoping there's a primer/setting spray combo that might make it hold on a bit better. I'll keep you guys posted if I come across any winning combos!
