Hi everybody! Many of you have mentioned the alcohol content of this foundation (pretty high on the ingredient list). Those sensitive to alcohols will probably want to avoid this one, or start with a sample before purchasing. Denatured alcohol is a common ingredient in cosmetics and skin care and can be drying to the skin. I personally am not sensitive to alcohols and therefore don't explicitly avoid them, but I do have an extensive moisturization routine in place. I also tend to use a beauty oil to seal in my morning skin care, prior to primer/moisturizer. Oils with larger molecules that don't absorb into the skin can help act as a barrier, preventing the alcohols from the foundation from absorbing as well. I wouldn't use this YSL foundation if you're sensitive to alcohols, but if you aren't sensitive and still want to try it, consider pairing your skin care with a beauty oil underneath for extra protection from potential dryness. That said, I have not experienced any additional dryness and do not feel dry at the end of the day (I've worn this 6 times now). Foundations with less alcohol can be far more drying on me - so there is something to be said for the combination of other ingredients as well. The YSL contains several moisturizing and pH balancing ingredients as well, likely helping to combat dryness. But please - consider my reviews as representative only of my own personal experience with a product. Your mileage may vary, and you should always stick to ingredients that work for you and avoid those that don't, regardless of what works for me! :-D
I love this idea! I'll have to plan it on a day when I'm getting up early to wear them for as long as humanly possible :-D I'm super curious. I also want to see how well the YSL holds up to summer humidity. I can wear the DW all year round, even in the sweaty summer, and it holds up great.

This makeup looks fab on you, the colour is perfect. I find it looks dry on me (my skin is normal) but I'm going to revisit it with lots of moisturiser.

Yay, 5 days of foundation!! Love the hairband - dead cute! Oooh this was a nice one. Bugger! An $89 foundation here (= US$71) so one my budget won't allow me to seriously consider, but yeah, it's really nice and looked so good on you.

I have been looking at foundations as far as high end, too. Something to wear on special occasions. I think this one looks much more beautiful on you (to me) than the Dior. I think I'll get a sample of this if I can find it at Sephora. Now I know which samples to get and the shade! You're pretty much the same shade and undertone as I am. Loving this! Nice! Looks good! The color and the texture looks fabulous! Ugh... I had a cold a few weeks back... got ready for a dinner outting. Blew my nose and took off my nose. Sigh. The husband giggled, apologized for laughing and said... it’s okay... take ten. Either foundation doesn’t stay on my nose and I must do layers of other products for it to stay... or I blow it off. I bought this foundation and it looked fabulous! I used it for a week then noticed that after I took it off my skin was like a prune. Thought it was just my dry skin, but then I read the ingredients. Alcohol as the third ingredient was a big no for me, so I returned it. I am loving my elf beauty shield primer! My zodiac palette came today and I am so excited to play with it tomorrow! Two things you made me buy! :). Love this series of foundation reviews !!!
Yep it does have alcohol pretty high on the list, so those sensitive to alcohol might want to avoid it. I'm going to pin a comment to that effect. I'm not having any dryness, but most days I seal in my skin care with a beauty oil before primer/foundation, so those molecules are large enough that they don't absorb into the skin and therefore prevent the alcohols from absorbing, too.
Wow, my holy grail foundation has been EL Double wear for as long as I can remember. BUT, you might have convinced me to try this one! My skin is dry and, sadly, aging as well. Love these videos, thanks so much. It's truly appreciated.
The true test will be in the summer humidity - I can wear Double Wear year-round with no problems. But holy cow... I am having a serious affair with the YSL!

I've been waiting for the Tarte to go up on Ulta (they've delayed the release)... though I have a review of the Hybrid Gel foundation (same ingredients as the new Shape Tape) and it did not work out for me. So I do not have high hopes for it. I haven't been purchasing any Nars since they went back on their cruelty-free status this past summer. I'm not 100% cruelty free but to take a step backward and go from being cruelty free to not bothered me. That's not to say I won't buy from them - but they're not at the top of my list at the moment. Which Nars foundation would you like to see most?
Honestly I liked the Estee Lauder much better on you. This one looks really dry on camera. The EL looks more youthful. Also the Bye Bye Lines looked great, too but it's your face and I didn't see it in person. The All Hours foundation does contain alcohol so that could create problems on dry skin as well. I have dry skin, too and I won't be trying this one. Great video as always!

I know, I know, I'm a horrible person. 😔 But only because that means I will most likely love it and I don't want to love, aka feel I need to buy, anymore ridiculous expensive foundations. And then to top it all off, you had to throw in it might be beating out the Estee Lauder Double Wear?! 😲 Those are some big shoes to fill and no foundation has ever come close to taking that title. LOL I am crushing so hard on the YSL. It was hard to even finish filming the rest of the week because YOWZA. I've been wearing it every chance I get! I want to see if it can hold up to summer humidity the way ELDW can - that will be the biggest test. But I might even like the finish of the YSL a little better. Although now that we can get shade 1C0 here in the US, that's a strike away from the DW column. I'll try every foundation known to man, but I've come to accept my fate that my ultimate favorites will cost a fortune.
Geek Out of Water It's true, the best ones are the retardedly expensive ones. Although honestly, ELDW is not nearly as expensive as most of my other favorites and it's in 1st place! I have to return the ELDW Waterfresh Nude tomorrow (I just can't get it to last more than a few hours on my skin and I have tried a good 6 or 7 different attempts!), so I think I might grab a sample of this while I'm in there. Ivy Munro I’ve learned that mixing the EL Waterfresh Nude with a few drops of ELDW is THE PERFECT foundation for me. It gives me the slightest dewiness combined with lasting ability that I’ve been striving for. Have you tried to mix it with any of your other foundations? It’s such a wonderful product to add a little moisture back into matte foundations.

Hi KJ! I think this YSL All Hours would hold up well in humidity. I've worn it in the summer here but it is probably a bit more humid for you. I also really enjoy all of the MAC foundations. They all hold up very well on me in sweat and humidity and heat.
You look totally gorgeous in that foundation! I'm thinking of buying it myself, but have concerns that it will be too drying on uber dry, Tretinoin-treated mature & dry skin. I bought the Dior Backstage foundation upon your recommendation & love it! I need something with a little heavier coverage for dress-up days, or when my skin is red, irritated & peeling (every other day following my Tretinoin treatment). I find that luminous & dewy foundations make me look like a cakey old woman (I'm 50) & they don't play nice with my sunblocks. Could you do a video on sunblocks/screens that play nicely under foundations & don't dry out the skin? I have a terrible time with this & it doesn't matter if I'm using a physical block or a chemical screen. I have tried so so many products (UltaMD, LaRoche-Posay, Australian Gold & tons of Asian blocks...it all adds to the cake face phenomena & none of them are hydrating enough to make them comfortable to wear). Your recommendations are tremendously helpful & I love watching your videos. I watched your bathroom move-in/declutter video recently & wish you could come & tackle my bathroom, closet, bedroom, hoarder's dream home). I broke my neck & back in a car accident with a drunk driver & am disabled, so cleaning is a pipe dream for me. There's something oddly therapeutic about watching these types of videos; the only thing that could make them better...an ASMR voiceover...think about it! Yep that's exactly when I reach for this one - when the Dior Backstage isn't quite enough coverage, usually a dressy event or something like that. The one foundation I've gone through 3 bottles of is the Make P:Rem UV Defense Me SPF50. It doesn't dry me out or act weird under makeup. I have better luck with chemical sunscreens than mineral under makeup, but I know a lot of people prefer mineral sunscreens. I'll have a sunscreen video coming up, mainly exploring the European sunscreens I've been wearing. They have more advanced and newer chemical sunscreen agents that are more comfortable, less prone to irritation, and wear longer than the outdated US chemical sunscreen ingredients. It always costs a little more to get them here, but they're so good. The La Roche Posay European formulations are so good - the Shaka Fluid is blowing my mind right now. It's tough to get here though - the UK Amazon will ship to the US but every time I've ordered it, the seller has cancelled my order. I picked some up when I was in Ireland but I'm almost out of my first bottle.

When you have time, I would love a comparison of this one to the new. YSL, Touche Eclat Le Teint Radiance Awakening Foundation, if you are able. I’m having trouble with a foundation to stay on the nose, not sink in pores. I am trying Chanel “Les Bieges” now, and it is a disappointment so far, but I haven’t tried all possible combos yet. I’m the same color as you, and have dry skin , living in a dry climate. I hydrate tons. I’m older. The pore problem seems to be my main problem, then fine lines and wrinkles. I’m trying caprice and or photo ready smash box as primers. Actually Missha Bb ( I’ve loved this for years, buying on Amazon or EBay, (Missha Signature BB Cream #21 (light Pink Beige) - mixed with Australian Gold Botanical Sunscreen the only thing not looking caky and showing pores, especially on the nose. I've added the YSL to my shopping list to grab in the Sephora spring sale :) The odd thing about my nose is that it seems to have less settling in the pores when I skip primer on my nose. I've been doing that lately and it's counter-intuitive but for some reason my nose isn't liking primer lately.

It did help a little to just put the Chanel Les Bieges on straight on nose. I moisturized a ton as usual, let dry. But still, after not long it seemed to sink into all my pores and looked awful. So I layered on more, and finally ended up looking like I had a giant rubbery prosthetic nose with clay like skin all around! I’ve tried so many ways now, II just don’t know if it’s old age or the makeup. Going to try more makeups, everyone says I have beautiful skin, but this is making me look way older and fake. ( you look like our family, have similar dry skin, so glad I found your channel, love the way you organize it.,). For the under eye, I am having better success with other products, definitely not Chanel’s. Corrector, but it is ok. (Adding the trick of one drop of oil ( I use rose oil) over my moisturizer and sunscreen fixed the corrector problems under eye., but Lancôme and bare minerals, and rewind,under eye still better than Chanel).Their Bb cream is ok. Getting more from your lists to try this weekend and taking this one back...how embarrassing, I Hate returning stuff, especially at the counter of Macy’s! They are so snobby!
I can't recall, but have you tried the YSL radiance awakening? I know you like matte and it's actually a satin I'm 45 with dry skin. It is one of my top foundations. I prefer medium coverage with dewy, radiant formulas for the most part, and I know that's not really your thing. I might get a sample of the all-hours to try. I was concerned it my be drying after multiple wears and too flat on me.
The reformulated radiance awakening is not dewy anymore :( the old one was beautiful.( with all Gold printings on bottle,the new one is in black). But the new one last longer tho,the finishing is not dewy at all :(
This is one that I’ve really been wanting to review...but haven’t yet because of the high concentration of Denatured Alcohol that’s in it. I’ll probably still review it, simply because of all I’ve heard and how popular it is. It looks really nice on your skin, too, sweetie! Hi Shelbie! I've worn this no less than a dozen times (it was all I took with me for a week in Chicago with family, for example). It doesn't dry my skin out even after daily use, and my only explanation is that there must be enough moisturizing ingredients to balance out the drying that the denat. alcohol would do - because typically a high concentration of drying alcohols WOULD dehydrate my skin! This is my favorite matte foundation right now. I just do my usual skin care underneath it (which includes moisturizing, but is the same as any other day wearing any other foundation). It kind of baffles me but I'm not complaining! :-D
Thanks for the review!:) I bought br10 as well,but usually I wear lightest shade of most foundation (but not pink toned),I bought touche eclat in b10 it supposed to be a neutral shade but it was horribly peach orange on me.i wanted to try out this all hours one,I found that this foundation is not true to its undertone,it will oxidize and this br shade turned to neutral leaning slightly warm shade after oxidation,b10 will turn to orange.for anyone who wants to purchase this if you have very cool toned skin this may not a good color match for you,and those who think b10 is a neutral shade u should order br10 instead :) xoxo Ps: i have dry skin and love this foundation as well although denatured alcohol is the third main ingredients,as long as you moisturizer your skin very well it shouldn't be a problem,also use minimal amount and use beauty blender to blend it out is best,if you layer it so much it will look cakey,thin and even just enough to smoother over your skin it will make this foundation wear the best.i paired it with becca backlight primer,omg it's the best finishing ever!!❤️
Geek Out of Water thanks for your review again!:) and yea I ve just put the backlight primer on my forehead nose cheeks and chin,didn't put it on whole face,it made my face look so much more dimensional:) I have the same Problem like yours,having dry skin but want a kind of matte foundation,tried them all out there this one is the best!i have double wear as well for sure the wear time is longer with that one,but it's so thick and cakey.i found that all hours has a very similar texture as Lancôme teint idole,but all hours is smoother,more spreadable,more skin like,over all ysl all hours looks better on dry skin,but maybe not for everyday use for me in winter time because of denatured alcohol is the third ingredient,I'm worry iit will dry my skin out super fast if I use it everyday in winter haha. Ohhhh btw I saw that on ysl website they have just came out all in one glow tinted moisturizer but it has medium coverage! The ingredients seem good too! Can't find any swatches online since it's brand new,I'm so wanna try it out! I guess it will be nice for dry skin!if u will try that one?:) xoxo
It's soooooo good. It's probably my top favorite of the moment - I just need to test it in humidity to know if it's my new all-time go-to (which is currently Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place - the one that never lets me down no matter what the conditions are).
It's called a matte foundation but I would consider it a natural-matte. But it definitely leans matte and not dewy. Not quite satin but not a flat matte.
Hi Shelly, wanted to ask for some advice 😁 i love a matte foundation, but for example... The estee lauder double wear is drying on me. The urban decay stay naked foundation is also very drying. Even the Charlotte Tilbury airbrush flawless foundation is a bit dryin. I'm loving the smashbox hydrating foundation, but I have to use 5 pumps to get the coverage I like. Could you maybe recommend one for me? Would you think this YSL one work? Love the nails in this video 😍
Thanks, Natascha! I’m pretty shocked that the YSL doesn’t dry my skin out. I’ve worn it at least 30 times by now (probably more). If you have access to a Sephora store you can get a sample of it. The Dior Backstage is also great but is nowhere near as much coverage as the YSL. You’d probably be in the same boat like the Smashbox. If you’re not opposed to drugstore, the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define is great coverage and also not drying.

I have been curious of this one as well, but I am dry skin too and a bit nervous lol My dry skin gets bad, but it might be one to give a go? Hey Lori! I've worn it a dozen times or so now, and I don't feel any dryness at the end of the day - which is saying something, because even luminous foundations that are supposed to be hydrating can dry me out! They must have the right cocktail of ingredients to balance out the denatured alcohol in there.
They delayed the release at Ulta but as soon as it's there, I will at least be picking up the matte version. The luminous one has the same formula as their Hybrid Gel, which didn't work very well on me - so I might not pick that one up. We'll see!

I was looking at your skin recently before you put foundation on it. You really don’t need foundation. You could get away with bareMinerals complexion rescue or even just putting a hydrating cover up on a few spots and then some blush and a little lipgloss. Your skin really is so beautiful. Aren’t you glad for good genetics and taking care of your skin?
You might check the ingredient list-I’ve heard it’s terrible for your skin. Brianna Stanko posted a video about this specific foundation a few months ago...which successfully steered me away.
Sorry but she's spouting totally non evidence based information. There's nothing wong with the alcohol content in this, it's not high enough to be problematic for most people, and is used to stabilize the formula. The only reason that the alcohol could possibly be "bad" is if a particular individual has a sensitivity to it. It is not a "bad" ingredient.
When alcohol is very high in the ingredients, it is always a problem for the skin! Please I know a lot of ingredients and what they doing! I'm a makeup artist and I work since 25 years with a lot of products! So much alcohol as an ingredient, is like putting pure vodka on your face day by day! Do do do that? Hope nol!!

Same exact Fair shade/undertone, dry/dehydrated texture. I don’t need nor want *any alcohol* (or even alcohol in such a high quantity such as listed in this product) in my foundation. Such levels could possibly undo all of my extensive Drunk Elephant day & night skin care regime to combat the dryness & aging, improve texture and elasticity. Thank you!! 🤗👍🏻☺️

Shell was available in the us until approx 2008 when i was a teen and first stated wearing dw, i was glad to see its back

I have been looking at foundations as far as high end, too. Something to wear on special occasions. I think this one looks much more beautiful on you (to me) than the Dior. I think I'll get a sample of this if I can find it at Sephora. Now I know which samples to get and the shade! You're pretty much the same shade and undertone as I am. I'm just a little cooler than you. I can't go warm at all or I look sick. Thanks for the review! =)

Loving this! Nice! Looks good! The color and the texture looks fabulous! Ugh... I had a cold a few weeks back... got ready for a dinner outting. Blew my nose and took off my nose. Sigh. The husband giggled, apologized for laughing and said... it’s okay... take ten. Either foundation doesn’t stay on my nose and I must do layers of other products for it to stay... or I blow it off. I bought this foundation and it looked fabulous! I used it for a week then noticed that after I took it off my skin was like a prune. Thought it was just my dry skin, but then I read the ingredients. Alcohol as the third ingredient was a big no for me, so I returned it. I am loving my elf beauty shield primer! My zodiac palette came today and I am so excited to play with it tomorrow! Two things you made me buy! :). Love this series of foundation reviews !!!
Yep it does have alcohol pretty high on the list, so those sensitive to alcohol might want to avoid it. I'm going to pin a comment to that effect. I'm not having any dryness, but most days I seal in my skin care with a beauty oil before primer/foundation, so those molecules are large enough that they don't absorb into the skin and therefore prevent the alcohols from absorbing, too.
Wow, my holy grail foundation has been EL Double wear for as long as I can remember. BUT, you might have convinced me to try this one! My skin is dry and, sadly, aging as well. Love these videos, thanks so much. It's truly appreciated.
The true test will be in the summer humidity - I can wear Double Wear year-round with no problems. But holy cow... I am having a serious affair with the YSL!

Hoping for a Tarte and Nars review 🤞🏻
I've been waiting for the Tarte to go up on Ulta (they've delayed the release)... though I have a review of the Hybrid Gel foundation (same ingredients as the new Shape Tape) and it did not work out for me. So I do not have high hopes for it. I haven't been purchasing any Nars since they went back on their cruelty-free status this past summer. I'm not 100% cruelty free but to take a step backward and go from being cruelty free to not bothered me. That's not to say I won't buy from them - but they're not at the top of my list at the moment. Which Nars foundation would you like to see most?

Honestly I liked the Estee Lauder much better on you. This one looks really dry on camera. The EL looks more youthful. Also the Bye Bye Lines looked great, too but it's your face and I didn't see it in person. The All Hours foundation does contain alcohol so that could create problems on dry skin as well. I have dry skin, too and I won't be trying this one. Great video as always!
Thanks, chlojoe! I've been sealing off my skin care with a beauty oil prior to primer/foundation, which (when using a larger-molecule oil) helps prevent the alcohols from absorbing into the skin. So far no additional dryness! I need to grab the Bye Bye Lines more often. It's all the way on my top shelf so I can't reach it from sitting down... lame excuse!! :-D I love its skin care ingredients.

I know, I know, I'm a horrible person. 😔 But only because that means I will most likely love it and I don't want to love, aka feel I need to buy, anymore ridiculous expensive foundations. And then to top it all off, you had to throw in it might be beating out the Estee Lauder Double Wear?! 😲 Those are some big shoes to fill and no foundation has ever come close to taking that title. LOL I am crushing so hard on the YSL. It was hard to even finish filming the rest of the week because YOWZA. I've been wearing it every chance I get! I want to see if it can hold up to summer humidity the way ELDW can - that will be the biggest test. But I might even like the finish of the YSL a little better. Although now that we can get shade 1C0 here in the US, that's a strike away from the DW column. I'll try every foundation known to man, but I've come to accept my fate that my ultimate favorites will cost a fortune.

I have to return the ELDW Waterfresh Nude tomorrow (I just can't get it to last more than a few hours on my skin and I have tried a good 6 or 7 different attempts!), so I think I might grab a sample of this while I'm in there. Ivy Munro I’ve learned that mixing the EL Waterfresh Nude with a few drops of ELDW is THE PERFECT foundation for me. It gives me the slightest dewiness combined with lasting ability that I’ve been striving for. Have you tried to mix it with any of your other foundations? It’s such a wonderful product to add a little moisture back into matte foundations.

Hi KJ! I think this YSL All Hours would hold up well in humidity. I've worn it in the summer here but it is probably a bit more humid for you. I also really enjoy all of the MAC foundations. They all hold up very well on me in sweat and humidity and heat.

You look totally gorgeous in that foundation! I'm thinking of buying it myself, but have concerns that it will be too drying on uber dry, Tretinoin-treated mature & dry skin. I bought the Dior Backstage foundation upon your recommendation & love it! I need something with a little heavier coverage for dress-up days, or when my skin is red, irritated & peeling (every other day following my Tretinoin treatment). I find that luminous & dewy foundations make me look like a cakey old woman (I'm 50) & they don't play nice with my sunblocks. Could you do a video on sunblocks/screens that play nicely under foundations & don't dry out the skin? I have a terrible time with this & it doesn't matter if I'm using a physical block or a chemical screen. I have tried so so many products (UltaMD, LaRoche-Posay, Australian Gold & tons of Asian blocks...it all adds to the cake face phenomena & none of them are hydrating enough to make them comfortable to wear). Your recommendations are tremendously helpful & I love watching your videos. I watched your bathroom move-in/declutter video recently & wish you could come & tackle my bathroom, closet, bedroom, hoarder's dream home). I broke my neck & back in a car accident with a drunk driver & am disabled, so cleaning is a pipe dream for me. There's something oddly therapeutic about watching these types of videos; the only thing that could make them better...an ASMR voiceover...think about it! Yep that's exactly when I reach for this one - when the Dior Backstage isn't quite enough coverage, usually a dressy event or something like that. The one foundation I've gone through 3 bottles of is the Make P:Rem UV Defense Me SPF50. It doesn't dry me out or act weird under makeup. I have better luck with chemical sunscreens than mineral under makeup, but I know a lot of people prefer mineral sunscreens. I'll have a sunscreen video coming up, mainly exploring the European sunscreens I've been wearing. They have more advanced and newer chemical sunscreen agents that are more comfortable, less prone to irritation, and wear longer than the outdated US chemical sunscreen ingredients. It always costs a little more to get them here, but they're so good. The La Roche Posay European formulations are so good - the Shaka Fluid is blowing my mind right now. It's tough to get here though - the UK Amazon will ship to the US but every time I've ordered it, the seller has cancelled my order. I picked some up when I was in Ireland but I'm almost out of my first bottle.

When you have time, I would love a comparison of this one to the new. YSL, Touche Eclat Le Teint Radiance Awakening Foundation, if you are able. I’m having trouble with a foundation to stay on the nose, not sink in pores. I am trying Chanel “Les Bieges” now, and it is a disappointment so far, but I haven’t tried all possible combos yet. I’m the same color as you, and have dry skin , living in a dry climate. I hydrate tons. I’m older. The pore problem seems to be my main problem, then fine lines and wrinkles. I’m trying caprice and or photo ready smash box as primers. Actually Missha Bb ( I’ve loved this for years, buying on Amazon or EBay, (Missha Signature BB Cream #21 (light Pink Beige) - mixed with Australian Gold Botanical Sunscreen the only thing not looking caky and showing pores, especially on the nose. I've added the YSL to my shopping list to grab in the Sephora spring sale :) The odd thing about my nose is that it seems to have less settling in the pores when I skip primer on my nose. I've been doing that lately and it's counter-intuitive but for some reason my nose isn't liking primer lately.

It did help a little to just put the Chanel Les Bieges on straight on nose. I moisturized a ton as usual, let dry. But still, after not long it seemed to sink into all my pores and looked awful. So I layered on more, and finally ended up looking like I had a giant rubbery prosthetic nose with clay like skin all around! I’ve tried so many ways now, II just don’t know if it’s old age or the makeup. Going to try more makeups, everyone says I have beautiful skin, but this is making me look way older and fake. ( you look like our family, have similar dry skin, so glad I found your channel, love the way you organize it.,). For the under eye, I am having better success with other products, definitely not Chanel’s. Corrector, but it is ok. (Adding the trick of one drop of oil ( I use rose oil) over my moisturizer and sunscreen fixed the corrector problems under eye., but Lancôme and bare minerals, and rewind,under eye still better than Chanel).Their Bb cream is ok. Getting more from your lists to try this weekend and taking this one back...how embarrassing, I Hate returning stuff, especially at the counter of Macy’s! They are so snobby!
I can't recall, but have you tried the YSL radiance awakening? I know you like matte and it's actually a satin I'm 45 with dry skin. It is one of my top foundations. I prefer medium coverage with dewy, radiant formulas for the most part, and I know that's not really your thing. I might get a sample of the all-hours to try. I was concerned it my be drying after multiple wears and too flat on me.

The reformulated radiance awakening is not dewy anymore :( the old one was beautiful.( with all
Gold printings on bottle,the new one is in black). But the new one last longer tho,the finishing is not dewy at all :(
This is one that I’ve really been wanting to review...but haven’t yet because of the high concentration of Denatured Alcohol that’s in it. Hi Shelbie! I've worn this no less than a dozen times (it was all I took with me for a week in Chicago with family, for example). It doesn't dry my skin out even after daily use, and my only explanation is that there must be enough moisturizing ingredients to balance out the drying that the denat. alcohol would do - because typically a high concentration of drying alcohols WOULD dehydrate my skin! This is my favorite matte foundation right now. I just do my usual skin care underneath it (which includes moisturizing, but is the same as any other day wearing any other foundation). It kind of baffles me but I'm not complaining! :-D
Thanks for the review!:) I bought br10 as well,but usually I wear lightest shade of most foundation (but not pink toned),I bought touche eclat in b10 it supposed to be a neutral shade but it was horribly peach orange on me.i wanted to try out this all hours one,I found that this foundation is not true to its undertone,it will oxidize and this br shade turned to neutral leaning slightly warm shade after oxidation,b10 will turn to orange.for anyone who wants to purchase this if you have very cool toned skin this may not a good color match for you,and those who think b10 is a neutral shade u should order br10 instead :) xoxo
Ps: i have dry skin and love this foundation as well although denatured alcohol is the third main ingredients,as long as you moisturizer your skin very well it shouldn't be a problem,also use minimal amount and use beauty blender to blend it out is best,if you layer it so much it will look cakey,thin and even just enough to smoother over your skin it will make this foundation wear the best.i paired it with becca backlight primer,omg it's the best finishing ever!!❤️

Problem like yours,having dry skin but want a kind of matte foundation,tried them all out there this one is the best!i have double wear as well for sure the wear time is longer with that one,but it's so thick and cakey.i found that all hours has a very similar texture as Lancôme teint idole,but all hours is smoother,more spreadable,more skin like,over all ysl all hours looks better on dry skin,but maybe not for everyday use for me in winter time because of denatured alcohol is the third ingredient,I'm worry iit will dry my skin out super fast if I use it everyday in winter haha.
Ohhhh btw I saw that on ysl website they have just came out all in one glow tinted moisturizer but it has medium coverage! The ingredients seem good too! Can't find any swatches online since it's brand new,I'm so wanna try it out! I guess it will be nice for dry skin!if u will try that one?:) xoxo

It's called a matte foundation but I would consider it a natural-matte. But it definitely leans matte and not dewy. Not quite satin but not a flat matte.
I have not liked the Este Lauder Double wear, but may need a primer for my cheeks. I have a sample.

Hi Shelly, wanted to ask for some advice 😁 i love a matte foundation, but for example... The estee lauder double wear is drying on me. The urban decay stay naked foundation is also very drying. Even the Charlotte Tilbury airbrush flawless foundation is a bit dryin. I'm loving the smashbox hydrating foundation, but I have to use 5 pumps to get the coverage I like. Could you maybe recommend one for me? Would you think this YSL one work?

Thanks, Natascha! I’m pretty shocked that the YSL doesn’t dry my skin out. I’ve worn it at least 30 times by now (probably more). If you have access to a Sephora store you can get a sample of it. The Dior Backstage is also great but is nowhere near as much coverage as the YSL. You’d probably be in the same boat like the Smashbox. If you’re not opposed to drugstore, the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define is great coverage and also not drying.

Hey Lori! They delayed the release at Ulta but as soon as it's there, I will at least be picking up the matte version. The luminous one has the same formula as their Hybrid Gel, which didn't work very well on me - so I might not pick that one up. We'll see!

I was looking at your skin recently before you put foundation on it. You really don’t need foundation. You could get away with bareMinerals complexion rescue or even just putting a hydrating cover up on a few spots and then some blush and a little lipgloss. Your skin really is so beautiful. You might check the ingredient list-I’ve heard it’s terrible for your skin. Brianna Stanko posted a video about this specific foundation a few months ago...which successfully steered me away.

Sorry but she's spouting totally non evidence based information. There's nothing wong with the alcohol content in this, it's not high enough to be problematic for most people, and is used to stabilize the formula. The only reason that the alcohol could possibly be "bad" is if a particular individual has a sensitivity to it. It is not a "bad" ingredient.
When alcohol is very high in the ingredients, it is always a problem for the skin! Please I know a lot of ingredients and what they doing! I'm a makeup artist and I work since 25 years with a lot of products! So much alcohol as an ingredient, is like putting pure vodka on your face day by day! Do do do that? Hope nol!!

Thank you (and Maureen Allen) for your insight. Before reading these comments, I was all set on trying it. Thanks to both of you, I definitely won’t be. My skin is nearly identical to Shelly’s. Same exact Fair shade/undertone, dry/dehydrated texture.
I don’t need nor want *any alcohol* (or even alcohol in such a high quantity such as listed in this product) in my foundation. Such levels could possibly undo all of my extensive Drunk Elephant day & night skin care regime to combat the dryness & aging, improve texture and elasticity.
