Yes! I love that you are doing this series in January now that the holiday madness has quieted down. Excellent picks as well. I had fun trying to guess which products would be included, too!
Lol! Top 5 with 6 honorable mentions! A true foundation junkie! :-D While in Walgreen's today, I noticed a new display with the new L'Oreal Infallible Fresh Wear foundation and believe it or not, there were testers. Well just 2 testers and both were way too dark for me but I tested one to see what the formula was like. Really, really matte and strong fragrance. Oh well.... the hunt continues. :)The CYO foundation really agrees with you Shelly. Nice satin/natural finish and the shade looks great!
Wow from the name I was expecting a more natural/satin - I bought it on Ulta but haven't even looked at it yet. Doggone. One of my 2 Rite Aid stores finally converted to Walgreens (the other is supposedly in progress). I went in to check out the one the other day and the makeup section had next to no new releases. Total bummer. Hopefully it's just part of the transition and they will improve it. I was so looking forward to having a Walgreens again!
@@goow I have more than a few Walgreen's stores at my disposal and they are all different in what lines they carry. I think they base it on the demographic? The L'Oreal foundation has a very similar texture to the Catrice HD when it's first pumped, it spreads very smoothly and dries really fast. I covered the entire back of my hand from the tester and it dried in less than 20 seconds! I could not believe how matte it was, of course being the wrong shade (4 shades too dark) really emphasized it but wow! The fragrance is what really put me off as I hate strong fragrances on my face. I was a bit bummed as I wanted to try it but glad I didn't waste the money.
Thanks, Erica!! I filmed it because I was playing with some new CColor palettes, but it probably won't post until after all of the best of 2018's go up.
My 2019 resolution is to always Shelly when she recommends a product. I finally got around to trying the Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick foundation that's been sitting on my makeup table and it's so beautiful! My Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away concealer blends perfectly into it and F1 is a great match for me. Thanks again Shelly!!
Yay!!! That stick doesn't get enough love. I mean, it's crazy good and if I didn't know it was a stick foundation I would never have guessed it was. It's doggone pretty.
Thanks, Leah! Yep Double Wear has never let me down. If I know I'm going to be out in heat or humidity, if I'll be sweating, if it'll be raining, if I know I have to wear my face for 16 hours, etc... Double Wear is the go-to. It holds up and has never failed me.
My shopping list is blowing up watching this video! I trust your reviews the most out of anyone on UA-cam. And major props for trying to go cruelty free!! I went cruelty free 8 years ago and will never go back. 🐇🐇🐇
Drugstore kicked it in gear this year- I LOVE the candid and the MR stick so much! The new Loreal fresh wear is a good dupe for luminous silk IMO and I just got the CYO- it is actually a bit light on me so it mixes great with my too dark osmosis. Thanks so much for the videos- I just love your picks, they always seem to work with my skin. I find myself waiting to buy a new foundation until you review it. Thanks so much! I hope you get more PR in 2019, you deserve it!!
It definitely says something when I've got everything all the way up to La Mer and my top favorites were drugstore! I'm all for it - saves me on my daily cost of face! :-D
You are glowing today!! I recently bought the cover girl matte made and love it more than some high end foundations i have. Also enjoy the CYO and Dior backstage. Great reviews this year!! Can't wait to try the Revlon😊
your eye look in this video is BOMB!! Have you ever tried the Mac Pro Longwear concealer? I don't know how you feel about MAC but your undereye area sounds a lot like mine & that concealer is amazeballs. it's full coverage (but i can wear it without foundation no problem with good blending) it lasts all day & it doesn't crease & i have a huge ass wrinkle under my eye that every other concealer i've tried just sinks in hardcore.
I don't think I have tried that MAC concealer - I've only tried one from them, a very recent release, and I can't remember what it was called but it wasn't full coverage and I did not like it! I will have to check that one out - thanks, Jamie!
Your original "Foundation Friday" video for the Makeup Revolution foundation stick encouraged me to go out and buy it. I have about 30 other foundations in my collection, and I haven't used any of them since purchasing the Makeup Revolution. I agree with you 100%. I bought four backups when they went on sale at Ulta. Thank you so much for the review and recommendation!!!
I love the smashbox primerizer. I think it's the best primer I've ever used. And it really is great if you have dry skin or are prone to dry skin . I love your videos dm's have been binge watching lol. I of coarse subscribed. Oh and I love maybelline age rewind concealer and sometimes I use the Fit me concealer both in fair and I only need to use a very very light dusting of powder to set it.
So happy to hear you want to go more in the cruelty free way! I used to love Mac foundations as well but honestly there are such awesome cruelty free alternatives like Hourglass, Two Faced, Makeup Revolution etc
Awesome roundup, thank you!! I’m relatively new to your channel; I was searching for foundation reviews from someone with dry skin (as I have quite dry skin) and was very happy to come across your videos! I’m also 37 so hearing from someone who isn’t in their 20’s seemed more relevant to my actual skin experiences too. You fill a much-needed niche on UA-cam! So just wanted to say thanks for existing and also congrats on dating your check correctly; I always mess that up! Although I felt a little better (despite the annoyance) when my regular doctor wrote me my monthly prescription in December of 2018 and dated it 12/19, then when I went back to get a correct one, wrote it for 12/17 or something else radically wrong, haha! So there were several trips back and forth between the doctor and pharmacy that day 😉 He’s a great doctor, but the changing year can trip anyone up, I guess! 😊 Thanks again for these great suggestions! I just got the CYO Lifeproof but haven’t had a chance to test it yet but I’m eager to after hearing your review and of course ThaTaylaa talk about it all the time. Your review pushed me over into actually buying it though! 💖
Welcome, Sarah, if I haven't welcomed you yet!! Angie over at Hot and Flashy just reviewed the CYO as well and loved it! It makes me happy to see a relatively obscure drugstore brand (at least new in the US) knocking it out of the park in a category that is tough! Foundation over 30 is not an easy thing to master and the CYO is so great. I just wish they had more shades!
I really want to try the CYO foundation -- no luck finding it in stores yet! Can I suggest a Top 10 Sunscreens video? I have a really hard time finding sunscreens that don't dry out my already-dry skin.
I'll have my top 5 sunscreens in the best of 2018 this week :) I did a more exhaustive list over the summer (and a few from there will pop up in my best-of this week) - ua-cam.com/video/28dppHZnano/v-deo.html
I like the CYO shade 101. It is the tiniest, bit pale, for summer. Undertone is great! Shade 103 never is available. I have so many issues with oxidation but CYO stays true. Its also a pretty "clean" choice in comparison to most US made foundations. I am SO frustrated with the lack product availability. I wish CYO would branch out in the US, becoming available in other retailers. I am curious about Revlon Candid. LMAO..it is also not available for me locally. (Rural Living has drawbacks) Oddly enough, could not even get Wet N Wild Cushion in the lightest shade. Sold out at my local Walmart and Walgreens. Crazy!!!!!
Keep that Walgreens tab open and refresh whenever you think of it! The stock seems to fluctuate constantly, even on the same day. But when it's on sale like now, it's tough to get. :-/
I wish I could remember who suggested it! I never think to write the names down and then I can't give proper credit other than to say "somebody in the comments suggested..."
Nice one Shelly! I hope you had a great holiday season. Very cool to see some of my faves in your list.... and a few that are on my wishlist to try in the near future. Love the eye makeup in this one - really pretty - actually all the face products worn today are especially flattering so could I maybe request a grwm or tutorial on the whole look please (I love watching people do a full face of makeup - specially when all the colours appeal to me as stuff I could also look good using).
Thanks!! You're in luck! I filmed the eye look at least :) I was trying out some new CColor palettes for the first time (dupes for a couple of the Huda Obessions). It'll probably post right after the best-of videos. :)
I really like this makeup look! I'm excited to try the Ilia foundation as they released a few new shades; the lightest was a bit peachy/orange for me. I don't get along well with Smashbox primers but I have been loving the radiance primer from Clarins as I feel it helps keep my makeup on and adds a bit of a glow. I normally tend to avoid glowy primers because they can make me look oily quickly but this one does not!
Oh wow, I LOVED Candid, for a while, even stocked up on tubes, since I thought it was going to be my 4ever best drugstore foundation, but something happened, and it doesn't seem so good anymore. Probably it never got the advantages of all the "helpers", like primer, setting spray, etc bc I had so much to learn about makeup application, (still do). Also have a huge supply of Candid in several shades😄😎 Revlon such a good company, And they found their nook in drugstore sales. (I think I started liking the real liquid-y foundations, and Candid is a cream, a little less fluid) Interesting and good video, thank you. 👍🏼
Thank you Shelly; I love foundation Friday! It's good news to see that some less expensive ones are at the top of the reviews. I do like Candid too . Today I actually got Shisheido's Radiant Lifting foundation ( I got a really good deal on it!) it only took one application ( most full coverage I've ever used) I did not have to use concealer for the first time in years. It's been on for hours and seems to look better than when I first put it on( & hasn't worn off) it's got a dewy finish ( not drying at all like their other one) Anyway I was wondering if you ever tried this one? I saw you tried one of shisheido's other foundations, but this is a different one. It's weird that it improves as the day goes on & still hasn't worn off . I must add that your makeup looks so nice today! Have a great weekend!
Thank you for such a thorough video! 😊 I think you’ve convinced me to try the Revolution stick foundation! I think you said it did, but can it be sheared out for more of a lighter coverage?
Yep when I want sheer i just do one swipe on each cheek and a dot on my forehead and chin. It's a soft enough formula (softer than most stick foundations I've tried) so it spreads easily and that amount is enough to get sheer coverage all over. And it gives plenty of time to work with it if you need to dot some more on and blend together. It's super easy that way.
Ok Shelly, you've done it...You've talked me into the MR Fast base stick! 😂 Do you use it to contour and bronze too? I'm really getting into cream products and it's so hard to find affordable cream bronzers. If you do, what shades do you use?
I have shades F1 through F5 to cover all times of the year :) F2 is a bit too yellow for me. Most of the year I'm F3. By the time we're in the deepest of winter, I can pull off F1 or use it in combination with F3 (it's a soft formula so you can mix shades and blend them together). In the summer I'm F4 and when I'm self tanning, F5. I wanted to try it as bronzer but when I went back to my Ulta to swatch shades they didn't have it in store anymore! I want the least warm shade for bronzer in hopes that it wouldn't pull yellow/orange on me, but it's hard to tell from the online pictures. It's so cheap I should just buy a couple more. I already have 5... 😂
Definitely looking forward to the eye cream one - I have been having the darndest time with eye cream and since we are about the same age and skintype I am interested in what has worked for you!
It seems like such a no-brainer to me, even if it's purely from a business standpoint - more shades = more people that can buy your product. I can't imagine it's that expensive (relatively speaking) to have 20 shades vs 10 or 30 vs 20 etc. So even if they aren't doing it to be good, inclusive humans, it would make them more money! I always smh on this one.
I've heard that some people find it in stores but none of the Walgreens near my family in Chicago or around me in Virginia have ever had it in-store. I always have to stalk it online.
I can't say how many times I've picked up and put down that Revlon Candid foundation. I'm pretty sure it'll be too dark but everyone loves it so much! I might succumb the next time. 😁
Great video, those are my top 2 concealers as well. I have had the makeup revolution foundation stick on my list to try for awhile, I’m gonna grab it soon! Can’t wait for the skin care lists! I found some great stuff this year.
Hey Shelly girl! Gr8 vid, but tht goes without saying. You gotta try the Juice beauty concealer pot. my under eye LOVES to crease, & look crepey. Tht concealer I dont need to set it, & it does not settle into lines. Pretty amazing considering no concealer seems to work for me. Plus, the coverage is quite lovely. 💜🖤💜
@@goow Heck yea! Juice Beauty skincare is gr8. I really enjoy the foundation as well. The shade range actually has a nice range for fair skin. I can't wait for your review of it! 💜
Always love hearing your top 5 picks (or top 11 in some cases LOL). I just want to mention in case it matters to anyone, the price per ounce on the Revolution concealer is way higher than a lot of high end concealers like the Laura Geller (about a $15 difference!) I always thought I should try to stick to drugstore products for budget reasons until one day I did the math and realized I could get more for my money from some of the high end brands. Can't wait for more of your Best of 2018! Have a great weekend!
Love the favorite' videos!,,, Did you see that Tatcha is coming out with a smaller version of her Primer? Sephora will carry it. I would rather have smaller sizes of some products ....they are easier to use up....
It's on their site now! Just my luck that after waiting months for the "soon to come" mini, I finally buy the full size...and the mini launches 6 weeks later 😑
You have me hooked on the Strivectin primer, it covers my pores very well. I am so surprised with your #1 foundation pick, I thought for sure it was the unicorn CFO . Unfortunately, the makeup revolution stick did not work on me at all, I may have to try it again, dang it Shelly 🤣
Omg you look stunning in this video. I love your hair styled like that. I use the Revlon primer and I love it, also the age rewind concealer. They are great for aging skin lol so I love it. I purchased the photoready foundation already and I'm on the fence. I like it up to about 6 hours, but I'm oily. I don't wear my makeup for long periods so it's great for me most days, but like I said I'm hella greasy girl lol. Great video my friend
Thanks, Renee!! lol it's so funny to me that my hair turned out well because I just took a claw clip and was like... remember those banana clips from the 80s? Maybe it was the 90s. I was like, maybe I can twist and flip a pony upside down and throw the little clip in there like a banana clip and let it hang all messy 😂and that's what happened!
@@goow well whatever happened it looks great. I still use them claw clips. I have banana clips to lol. I think we are showing our age girl lmao and idc
Happy New Year Shelley! Love this video, as you are my only UA-camr for new foundations for 2018....picked up the Lancôme and the Dior Body and I’m really enjoying them. Since you have 2 drugstore picks in 1st & 2nd place, I’m going to have to give them a try this year! Thanks so much for all your content and looking forward to 2019 videos!
You could've mentioned if they are water based or silicone based for the primers, that could've been nice. I'm trying to buy me a primer based on the ones that you recommend but need to see if they are water or silicone based. Great, information though...
You're in luck, Karen! I filmed it! I was playing with some CColor Cosmetics palettes for the first time, so I usually film those. It'll probably post right after the week of best-of-2018 videos.
Yes,yes, yes!!!!thank you for doing these!!!! We have pretty much every skin concern in common right down to age so these are more helpful than you know!!! Just substitute Boston Terriers for cats and that's close too!!!💗💗💗
Shelly, another amazing video. Thanks for the info on the Covergirl foundation. I was hesitant to try it, since it said matte. And now that they are cruelty free, I have a new option. I still love the CYO, just wish they increased their shade range. Also, I ordered the moisturizing primer from First Aid Beauty, and their avocado concealer. I also caved and ordered Catrice's glowy setting spray, since Thatayla raves about it. Have you tried it? Thanks again. Have a great weekend! ❤
I love the glowy Catrice spray!! I got the avocado concealer and it's kind of a hot mess on me. :-/ The Cover Girl is definitely not matte on me - more like satin natural. It's quite pretty (I hate to say I'm surprised, but it really surprised the heck out of me!)
@@goow thanks. I always appreciate your feedback! I wanted the avocado concealer just for under my eyes, since they are so dry, and everything seems to settle into the fine lines. I'll let you know what I think of it. Glad you like the Catrice setting spray. 😊
How do you feel about the becca first light priming filter? It's my favorite 😊. It hydrates my dry skin, its shimmery and glowy, it makes my foundation go on smooth and it makes my foundation last all day 😍❤
I have it and I like it and I think it just gets buried under my other primers in my drawer so I don't grab it! I need to pull it out and use it some more!
Love this list - just need these brands to get on producing more shades. (And CYO on being in stock - I still haven't been able to try it!) I'm excited to see the rest of your favorites. My wallet might not be as excited. 😉
Yep CYO you just have to keep a browser tab up and check it every time you think of it :-D They restock often but sell out often, so it's just a matter of catching it (which is annoying, yes... why can't they just produce enough to keep it in stock, knowing its popularity has been in force for at least a year now). But it's worth getting your hands on!
Gosh, I have a few foundations I would like to try out, I do mostly get drugstore as of late because many of done me well. But there has been those that I want to try in the higher end, thanks for sharing have a good week.xoxo
Now I'm going to have to try the stick foundation...oh well..what's another run to ulta? Have you tried flower beauty? I'm still trying to find a color match, the Ulta by me doesn't have it in store which makes it hard. Love the recommendations and can't wait till the next video!!
I didn't have much luck with the Flower beauty foundation but I am liking some of their other products! I love Drew Barrymore so I'll keep trying anything she puts out 😂
I'm surprised actually! I have been trying soooooo hard to figure out my shade in the Candid foundation; do you have any suggestions on how to figure that out? My tried and true findation.com doesn't have it listed yet... I also want to try the new Loreal Infallible 24H Fresh Wear, but can't figure out my shade in that either. I hate that Loreal doesn't have a shade match option on their website. Btw, I've fallen in LOVE with the Lancome Renergie Lift! Anyway, great picks, and some I'll give the ones I haven't tried a shot. Thanks, Shelly!
I really should have put the Lancome in my list - I dismissed it in my mind because I haven't worn it in a while, but the reason I haven't worn it is the only 2 shades I have are summer and self tanning shades. I thought I bought a winter shade and it was still way too dark (more like summer). So I didn't think through it well enough because if I did I would've put it up there!
I’ve been on the fence for a while, but this video convinced me that I need the Charlotte tilbury concealer. It was so helpful to hear you describe the colors. And...since I’m placing an order anyway, which is your favorite of the pat McGrath lip glosses? I need to try one of those as well!
The concealer is so good!! Wayne Goss described it as spandex under the eyes and it's so true - it's smoothing like nothing else I've ever tried. For PMG lip gloss Flesh Fantasy is a great nude that goes with just about anything! I need to get more of her lip glosses. They're a favorite find of the year for me.
I love the Flower concealer on my age spots. Too bad the foundation didn’t work for me, too peachy of a shade. My favorite concealer is Avon True Color, it’s very pigmented. The CYO sounds great, hope they get the lighter shades back in stock. I’d like to try the Covergirl. I’ve heard the new L’Oréal is good, but it has fragrance and I’m allergic. I’m really disappointed in L’Oréal, they don’t usually put fragrance in. Covergirl does sometimes, a masking fragrance, but this new one is fragrance free fortunately. Enjoyed the reviews!
What shades do you have in the makeup revolution sticks? We are the exact same skin tone I love you watching you! I hope you use one for contour 🤞 looking to get one for that as well!
I have F1 to F5. F2 is too yellow for me so I don't really wear that one. Most of the year I wear F3, though in the deep winter when I'm as pale as possible I mix F1 and F3. Then in the summer I'm F4, and if I'm self-tanning I'm F5. I want to get a shade for contour/bronzer but I was hoping my Ulta would get testers so I could try them. They haven't.... I should just wing it and get another and hope for the best!
Thank you so much! If I give a contour shade a guess I will let you know how it works out because I really do feel we’re so similar in tone.. and skin issues! You and thattayla are my favs!
Shelly, I’m flying home to CA next month and was thinking of buying the Strivectin Line Blurring Perfector that you love but I was wondering if it has an overwhelming silicon texture? The worst silicone texture is The Original Smashbox Primer. Is the Strivectin much lighter that the Smashbox? I’ll also be buying CT’s concealer too! 😁 Thx for your help!
Hi Susan! The Strivectin is definitely a silicone feeling but it has a bit of grip to it rather than the super-slip, if that makes sense. I just ordered their new eye primer to try. It's supposed to blur both under the eyes and the lids!
Hi Shelly.. Your makeup is beautiful and your skin looks airbrushed. I didn't want to love the ysl foundation but I really really love it. Quick question..How do you apply the makeup revolution stick foundation? I have that one too and I need to use it more.
Thanks, Becky! I'm wearing the CYO and no powder - it's so doggone pretty! I do a sponge with the MR stick when I want light coverage, and a brush when I want medium+ coverage. It's a pretty soft formula so it blends out easily either way (more easily than other stick foundations I've tried).
Got the Revlon primer and you were right--it is really good. I like that it isn't slippery and gives good "traction" when applying the foundation. Thanks!
I’m interested to hear you use the 104 in the CYO foundation. I think we’re close in skin tone, so that gives me an idea what to order next time! I ordered it in 103 this weekend & they sent me 113 by mistake. Of course, now all the lighter shades are gone :/
Oh man - it's like the holy grail slipping away!! They always seem to restock in low quantities so it pops up available on the web site and then it's gone again. So you just kind of have to keep a tab up and refresh it whenever you think of it 😂I was wearing 104 in this video - a month or so from now when I'm as pale as possible I'll mix a little 101 into it but it's a darn good shade match for me most of the year.
and the tatcha only lasts like 6 months before it supposedly expires, so, use it up, girl! lol. I also heard the coin it comes with is only supposed to help with the original top layer. who knows? did i hear that from you? I cant remember. lol
I hadn't heard that about the top layer! I just don't like sticking my grubby paws into everything 😂I just saw the new mini size on Sephora - I wish they were more comparable in price per ounce. The $20 mini ends up $83/oz while the $52 full size is $74/oz.
hi, shelly! love this video and, as a d.d., i love the drugstore showing! just to let you know, inserts this week should have revlon coupons and cvs will be having a deal. gotta save money, right? looking forward to more favs of 2018 next week. take care and enjoy! ~k
Neither the Infallible waterproof nor Pro Glow were drying on me - both were pretty hydrating actually. But I had much better luck with the Infallible Pro Glow in terms of my lines and texture.
I swear I've been trying to purchase the CYO foundation for over a year and it's NEVER in stock online. I wish my Walgreens carried it but no luck. I keep hearing good things but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to try it myself. Which foundation would you say is the most comfortable to wear of those you mentioned? I have sahara dry skin and I need something full coverage that makes me dewy.
Of all of the dewy foundations in my collection, I'd say the MAC Mineralize is the most hydrating of them all. Lawless Woke Up Like This was quite dewy as well but it didn't wear as well on me as MAC does.
Happy 2019, Shelly. Love the eye look. We've chatted about primers before and since your #1 is still not perfect, I'd like you to try my #1: Perricone Instant Blur. It's too expensive to use everyday but I got a really good 2fer & if it's ok, I'd like to send 1 to you. Save$ with Wet&Wild Gel Lip Balm! Packaging is unfortunate but texture & wear are great
I haven't tried that WnW lip balm - I'll add it to my list! I need cheap lip balms anyway because I lose them or put them through the washing machine constantly! And I surely don't want you to give up your beloved primer! My PO Box is in the description box but I have added it to my list to check out when the next coupon comes around!
Walgreens carries it! Not all have it in store, but you can get it on their web site. Of course right now it's on sale and a bunch of shades are sold out, but they come in stock and sell out constantly, sometimes multiple times in a day - so just keep checking the site every so often and you'll eventually get it!
Hi could you please explain what the difference between the 2 maybelline age rewind concealers are please, I use the light but not sure if that’s lightens my under eyes area or if it’s my sort of skin colour. I hope this makes some sort of sense 🙂 x
Ann-Marie duffy The brightener (highlighter) is to cancel out dark circles under eyes. You still need a concealer on top of that bc it’s pretty pink. So then there are skin toned concealers in that same range. Fair, light, medium, etc. They later well, Not thick.
Amy Leonhardt ThankYou, I would like to lighten my undereye do you know which would work best please as I have shade light which I feel is my normal concealer colour
Hi Ann-Marie! The highlight one is very definitely pink so if you're very fair with a very pink undertone, it would work as a concealer on its own - but it's a little too pink for me, so I use a tiny bit on top of the fair shade to just brighten up my undereye area after the fair shade conceals my purple and matches my skin tone more. LOL I feel like I should say the same thing - if this makes any sense at all! The fair shade matches me but I want a little lighter than matching under my eyes to brighten them up a bit. And the Ivory shade (the new lightest shade) is too yellow, so I have to go with mixing the fair shade and the highlight shade.
Hey girlfriend! Fantastic video and you're looking particularly beautiful in this! Xoxo I am surprised you didn't give an Honorable mention to the Lancome Multi lifting Renergy makeup///Foundation l! It's my Holy Grail you did a positive review of it! The reason I am mentioning this is because I live very close to you in Warren County and I would totally take it off of your hands if you want to declutter it! LMAO! Our skin pretty similar, so just let me know! ;-)
Ya know? I probably should have. I dismissed it because the only shades I have of it only work when I'm self tanning and mid-summer, and then I thought I bought a winter shade and it's still way too dark. So I think I just dismissed it in my head as something I don't wear, but now that I think about it, it's doggone good and I wore it constantly in the summer when it matched me. Definitely worth an honorable mention!
I also bought the Revlon primer due to Thatayla. I'm impatient and didn't give it a good chance. I will! Do you use tatcha primer before or after the revlon?
I do the Tatcha everywhere first, and then the Revlon just pressed into my cheeks around my nose where my pores are bad, chin, and in between my eyebrows. Sometimes I do my nose but I'm finding that my nose does better with no primer at all. Totally counter-intuitive.
Thank you for an excellent video -- new subscriber here, with an observation (and truly not intended as a criticism) -- MAC is not cruelty-free, as you reference, but of course neither are several other brands featured here: YSL, Dior, Estee Lauder, Revlon, Maybelline, StriVectin, etc. I appreciate your inclusion of a broad range of brands, including some that are cruelty-free, and acknowledgment of the status of brands, so your viewers can make informed decisions based on their individual priorities. Also support your desire to pursure more cruelty-free brands in your own choices :). Thank you again for a great video and your channel content overall!
Most of the non-cruelty-free makeup brands I currently purchase, I've only bought foundations (Dior, EL, YSL etc) and what I said about MAC applies to them as well. I am not going full into new-to-me non-cruelty-free brands as a general guideline, beyond foundations. As a channel that specializes in foundation reviews, I haven't eliminated non-CF foundation, as my channel is not specifically a cruelty free channel at this time. I may get to that point. But that's where I'm at currently.
@@goow Yes, understood -- I only mentioned it because you seemed to highlight MAC in the video specifically on this issue. I think your philosophy is pretty clear, and I wanted to express appreciation that you include cruelty-free as well. Cheers.
I'm looking for a foundation that help disguise large pores, any recommendations??? I'm talking huge pores!!!!! I've tried pore reducing primers but they make my makeup look worse, dry, cakey, ages me bad. Any help is greatly appreciated. The self confidence is down the drain at this point
Hey Amanda! If you pull up my spreadsheet, at the top right of the spreadsheet type in "blurred" in the search box, and it'll show you all of the foundations that blur pores on me. If you want to narrow it down you can type "blurred drugstore" or "blurred high end" or "blurred hydrating" etc. depending what you're looking for, and it'll filter them out. I've got all of the details on the finish and notes on wear time, etc, and links at the far left side to the original review videos :) geekoutofwater.com/foundation-fest/
Geek Out of Water 😲 you are talking to me right??? Lol. Nobody ever replies to me!!! You seriously just made me feel so good 😊 Thank you so so so so so much!!!!
Geek Out of Water WHOA WOW WEEE!!!!!! That is the most amazing list of information!!!!! You are fantastic and deserve so so much more recognition for your work!! I am sharing your channel and info as much as I possibly can!! I personally can't thank you enough for the wealth of information so easily accessible, thank you, thank you, thank you,
Geek Out of Water One foundation I didn't find was the Ulta Beauty Moisturizing Foundation Stick. I would love to know your opinions on it. Again, thank you so much for replying to me. ❤️
Your makeup, and or skin is glowing today! beautiful!
Thanks, Stacey! I hadn't worn the CYO in a bit and it did not disappoint!
Your makeup is exceptionally beautiful today!!
You look absolutely stunning!!! The Estée Lauder double wear foundation is my all time favorite...it never ever fails me 🦉🍀🦉🍀🦉🍀🦉
Thanks, Leah!
I feel like this was a year of a lot of really great products! The usual duds too, but the things that were great were really great!
Great video! Your makeup look very good, love the smoky eye!🙂
Thanks, Eve!
You are glowing today!! I recently bought the cover girl matte made and love it more than some high end foundations i have. Also enjoy the CYO and Dior backstage. Great reviews this year!! Can't wait to try the Revlon😊
Thanks, Kelly! CYO never does me wrong 😂
your eye look in this video is BOMB!!
I will need to try out some of these concealers. I get creasing too.
Also I love your makeup today.
Thanks!! I was trying out some new CColor palettes!
They really knocked it out of the park with that foundation!!
Thanks, Jill! Welcome! Fit Me is a concealer I like too - I forgot about that one! I haven't worn it in a while.
So happy to hear you want to go more in the cruelty free way! I used to love Mac foundations as well but honestly there are such awesome cruelty free alternatives like Hourglass, Two Faced, Makeup Revolution etc
Great video. Need to try the revlon candid. Looking forward to your moisturizer review!
Thanks, Gracie!
Fabulous faves. Looking forward to your upcoming videos!
Thanks so much, lovely🍃🌸.
Your hair looks so good today lady! Killing it as always, love your videos!
Thanks, Autumn!
Im so excited for this !!! Just wanted to get that out there and now Im-a gonna watch the video Yippee!!!!!!
Crazy!!!!!
Try 102. It came back in stock on Walgreen's website recently and I picked a couple up. I mix with 101 and it's been great.
@@amydaniels6442 Thank You!! Just checked. 101, 102 and 103 out of stock.
Keep that Walgreens tab open and refresh whenever you think of it! The stock seems to fluctuate constantly, even on the same day. But when it's on sale like now, it's tough to get. :-/
@@goow Thanks for the tip!
Love the guitar pick hack! : )
I wish I could remember who suggested it! I never think to write the names down and then I can't give proper credit other than to say "somebody in the comments suggested..."
I love the cyo foundation in 101 it’s my everyday foundation my problem is smile lines too high end being the worst for them looking cracked x
You look really nice today I love your top x
Thanks, Heidi! I can't remember the brand of the top... it's one of my Gwynnie Bee rentals.
great video 💖I want to try the candid foundation 💚💟💜💛💙
Thanks, Kelly!
Thank you Shelly! Wayne Goss is also digging your fav primer, StriVectin. Again your foundation chart is amazing! 💜
And I love some Wayne Goss!!! I can't wait until his makeup line launches!
Super excited for his products as well!
I usually like all the same foundations as you. I am also over 40 with dry skin but the Revlon Candid dried out my skin. Only wore it twice. ☹
:( that is a bummer!
Yay!!!!!!! I am so excited for your upcoming videos.
I discovered your channel in 2018 and have been enjoying your videos ever since! Keep it up!
Thanks, Lucy!!
Great video to start the New Year and happy New Year to you look forward to your upcoming videos
Happy new year, Jan!!
I'm liking the Clarins SOS peach primer but I haven't used it long enough for it to make best of the year.
That one you saw that I tried is the only thing I've tried from them - I'll have to check this one out! Thanks, Jacqueline!
Shelly, today it didn't look as nice on me as it did yesterday 🙄 sigh . Lol!
Also the Lancome stick Foundation is glorious if you have money to spend on high end!
@@goow I have seen 2 people use D14 because it's undertone is cooler but it's so dark I'm totally afraid, lol.
I've been waiting for you to do this! Cute blouse.
Thanks, Jennifer! It's one of my Gwynnie Bee rentals. Can't remember the brand!
Definitely looking forward to the eye cream one - I have been having the darndest time with eye cream and since we are about the same age and skintype I am interested in what has worked for you!
I've had some good luck with eye creams this year! Best luck so far, anyway... still seeking the holy grail, of course :)
Love it! Your makeup looks amazing!
Thanks, Jamie!
Great video!!! Thanks for reminding makeup companies to be more comprehensive with shade ranges.
Well said
I want to try the CYO. I was hoping it would be in the Walgreens store but I guess it's only on-line. Enjoyed the video, Shelly!
I wear 130 and I think there is at least 1 shade lighter, maybe 2 - so maybe??
@@goow yeah, there's 110 which is also in the Colorstay line and is too dark but I'm going to give it a go anyway 😄
@@goow it was bogo 50% off at Walgreens so I just bought 110 and 120. 🙈 Undertone on the 120 seems better for me. Excited to try it out!
Great video, those are my top 2 concealers as well. I have had the makeup revolution foundation stick on my list to try for awhile, I’m gonna grab it soon! Can’t wait for the skin care lists! I found some great stuff this year.
Yep I had a lot of turnover in my skin care faves this year, too!
I just added it to my Ulta list! I've had great luck with their skin care. I have their foundation to review too - just haven't gotten to it yet!
@@goow Heck yea! Juice Beauty skincare is gr8. I really enjoy the foundation as well. The shade range actually has a nice range for fair skin. I can't wait for your review of it! 💜
@@goow ps. The concealer goes a long way.
Such good advice. Use it! I've shrined 2 many products till they've gone bad. Enjoy them right now!
And it's so much fun to use them, too. I'm much happier about spending the money when I'm also enjoying the things!
Yes I just saw that travel size!! I love minis.
CYO 🤪
That MR stick has never given me a bad face day! Body chemistry is so quirky though - it's worth trying again if you still have it hanging around!
Just discovered your channel and I'm loving your videos. Btw I have that exact same Rarity MLP plush on my makeup table too, nice 👍
Ponies for life!! Welcome!! :-D
😂😂😂totally!!!
Happy new year, Roo!! :-D
Happy New Year! I’m going to have to try the Covergirl foundation....have a great weekend!
Happy new year, Timbra!!
You could've mentioned if they are water based or silicone based for the primers, that could've been nice. I'm trying to buy me a primer based on the ones that you recommend but need to see if they are water or silicone based. Great, information though...
Please do a video on your Beautiful eye makeup in this video!
You're in luck, Karen! I filmed it! I was playing with some CColor Cosmetics palettes for the first time, so I usually film those. It'll probably post right after the week of best-of-2018 videos.
Love your makeup & hair. Great video!
Thanks, Tish!
Yes,yes, yes!!!!thank you for doing these!!!! We have pretty much every skin concern in common right down to age so these are more helpful than you know!!! Just substitute Boston Terriers for cats and that's close too!!!💗💗💗
Boston Terriers are awesome!!! The only dog I ever had as a kid was a terrier mix.
Great video as usual!
When you do the masks ( masques?) can you do one that’s fragrance free? I would like to try one. Thanks and Happy New Year !
I will check through my stash to see if any of them are (and will say so if I have any!) Happy new year, Julie!!
I love your hair like that!🌴🌈
Shelly, another amazing video.
Love watching and learning from you videos
Thanks, Deb!!
@@goow i wish I had that problem 😂 i have the becca and the smashbox primerizer and that's it! All I need 😁
Love this list - just need these brands to get on producing more shades. (And CYO on being in stock - I still haven't been able to try it!)
I'm excited to see the rest of your favorites. My wallet might not be as excited. 😉
Cyo is on sale this week at Walgreens. Keep checking. I was finally able to order my shade yesterday.
The drugstore has really upped their game!
I enjoyed your video ☺️ great products. Digging your eye makeup look today ️ ☺️
Thanks, April!! I filmed it - will probably post it after all of the best-of videos :)
Your hair and makeup look 💣
Thanks, Glenne!
I've been waiting for your 2018 picks! Thank you Shelly!
I have the Revolution stick but haven´t tried it yet! It looks like a really need to lol
Yes. It's a must-try. I've seen it work on every different skin type (like some kind of magic voodoo).
My concealer should be here tomorrow! 🤗 Did you see the pat McGrath mini gloss trio at Sephora? 😻
I have an Avon foundation in my bin to review!
@@goow Awesome! I haven't tried their foundations.
Yay I love best of/favorites videos!! Thanks Shelly!!❤️
My favorite week is the week of favorites every year :-D next to foundation fests of course!
I just found you today, so for me, it's like Christmas in June!! :)
Your skin looks great! Took a pic of your list to take to the store. Thanks :)
Thanks, Jay! :-D
I am glad I found your channel. Great videos and loved this top 5.🎉🎉🎉🌻🌸
Welcome, Heath!
Thanks Shelly :)
Thanks--I've just ordered the Photo Focus primer!
Let me know how you like it!
@@goow I will!
Got the Revlon primer and you were right--it is really good. I like that it isn't slippery and gives good "traction" when applying the foundation. Thanks!
Thank you for the reviews, really appreciated your perspective.
Thanks for watching!!
With the Makeup Revolution -- do you apply it with a beauty blender or brush? Great lip color!
It's a pretty soft texture so either way works well for me. I do sponge when I want lighter coverage and brush when I want more medium+ coverage.
and the tatcha only lasts like 6 months before it supposedly expires, so, use it up, girl!
You look beautiful!! Loved the video 🤗
Thanks, Monica!
hi, shelly! love this video and, as a d.d., i love the drugstore showing! just to let you know, inserts this week should have revlon coupons and cvs will be having a deal. gotta save money, right? looking forward to more favs of 2018 next week. take care and enjoy! ~k
I love me some coupons! I'm overdue for a CVS haul!
Please review the new L'Oreal Fresh Wear Foundation! It's supposed to have a natural finish :)
Yes!! I just picked it up!
@@goow Yayyy I can't wait for the review!! :)
What is that little pan that you squeeze your foundation onto? Would love to grab one up somewhere. Thanks
Hi Eileen! It's this little palette from Amazon, $7.99 - amzn.to/2FnsAHP
What do you think of Loreal's Infallible concealer?....Is it drying ?
Neither the Infallible waterproof nor Pro Glow were drying on me - both were pretty hydrating actually. But I had much better luck with the Infallible Pro Glow in terms of my lines and texture.
No elf beauty shield primer?! I'm surprised!
I still wear it in the summer (when I want as much SPF as humanly possible) but I'm in a phase where all I want is smooooooooth lol.
In the mail tomorrow
Apparently a priority package from FL to VA goes via Minnesota. 😒
Where can I pick up c.y.o. foundation? I've seen it before I just can't remember where
Jill Sivertson Some Walgreens carry it. You can order online and have it shipped free to a local store if it’s in stock online.
Ann-Marie duffy try Fair
Amy Leonhardt ThankYou for your time and advice x
You look so pretty!
Thanks, Amanda!
Ha! I know what your favourite "new to me brand" will be 😜 Happy New Year Shelly!
... with a net value worth the entire rest of my makeup collection 😂😭😍
@@goow
Isn't that weird! I also find my nose does better without primer! Any primer makes my nose look terribleeeeeee!
