reliability, easy to use and good preamps.
Good sound quality and RELIABILITY! And software upgradable if possible. Like it so far!😌🎶👍🏾
Strong pre-amps, and plug-and-play usability, and *reliability*. Been using a Behringer UMC1820 for about 5 years now and it has never once glitched, failed to connect, or any other funny business. It has worked flawlessly from the first day I plugged it in.
Good preamps, connectability, quality build, i/o options.
Good drivers, good converters, good headphone amplifiers
Hey ya'll! It's McKail. I'm the one who sang & played acoustic guitar for this video. Thanks to Warren for having me & to everyone who enjoyed the cover!
McKail! You’re amazing! Wonderful work my friend
McKail, You have a beautiful voice. Dont know if you have a deal but if not you should, Its a crazy business, A lot of talent and only a few spots to fill. Go get em girl. :)
I love you ❤ well done💐🎶
Awesome!
You sing just awesome. I could listen to you sing for hours.
Beautiful performance guys! And wow, Audient is absolutely killing it with their gear!
Yes! Thanks for sharing
I bought the Evo 8 after I watched your video on it. It has everything I need. I use stereo in from my guitar stuff and can use a mic but also I am able to use some outboard gearby routing out and in. A great piece of gear.
Thanks for sharing and I'm glad our video helped you
I just did the same, figured it was a no brainer, exactly the same use case.
@@greative.studio6462 I concur, the Evo 8 should be enough for a lot of use cases. Have fun with yours.
I think it is really fantastic how you make music production accessible for people. It is really encouraging and actually I started a recording career. I was a pre school however I always wanted a career in the arts, so thank you so much for your channel. I now have a great career in recording and it is videos like this showing the possibilities with inexpensive gear. Once again thank you for everything you do!
Thanks ever so much Eric! I am glad tp be able to help!
@@Producelikeapro your welcome!
@@erictimothyanderson7469 thanks ever so much!
Song sounds fantastic! We knew it would though :)
I’ve been waiting for this interface for so long, glad it’s arrived now. Excited to see you at namm to play with it in person!
Thanks ever so much Adam! Your video was amazing!
Thank you for recording this the way you did. I cannot afford really high end mics. I do have a nice Audio interface setup but only a couple of nice mics.
Thanks Arthur! This is all I know how to do! Using Mics to capture great performances is still my favourite thing to do!
I love the result of the recording with this unit! This is definitely my new dream audio interface, I need to save me some money and upgrade from my Behringer 2 channels interface! Great videos like always!
Thank you Warren for being always a step forward into new ways of making music!
Btw: the work you did on this song really inspires me and i think that the great Al Schmitt would be proud of a production like this!
Thanks Ferdinando!
I have the evo 4 and it’s incredible. I can only imagine how well the higher up ones are
Thanks ever so much for sharing!
was in the market for a long long time for a interface, your review was the final push. 1 week in the house, Loving it !! .. cheers and 'tot ziens' Warren !
I love that you don't have to "gain stage" there after. Seems really good interface and for that amount of money... mind blowing!!!
Yes, agreed!
This is a pretty nice interface! I like how each input can have each tracks volume done on the fly! Thanks
Thanks ever so much
i was watching the vid on the expensive vs affordable gear and the audient was mentioned 9000 times 😂
excited to see a video specifically about it, very timely!!!
thanks Warren!
Thanks so much! I'm really excited about this product.
Wonderful that tech is evolving and being affordable as well is win. Thank you for multi tracks
Great "I'm on Fire" both the performance and recording. Love the electric guitar playing and tone.
Thanks ever so much Frank!
Great job Warren. I enjoyed seeing the recording process and techniques you used in making the song. Keep up the good work.
Thanks ever so much Carl!
@@Producelikeapro I feel flattered that you respond to my comments.
@@carlsalazar4490 flattered that you're flattered! Ha thanks ever so much!
Really great guitar work!! Well done Warren!!
Thanks ever so much! I really appreciate it!
Every bit of this was excellent. You, and everyone involved, are doing great stuff.
Thanks ever so much Travis! You Rock!!
Playing around with mixing these tracks right now.
Raw tracks sound nice. Also, I'm impressed with how consistent and smooth the bass and guitar playing is.
I love this. I want this because as a singer songwriter I can set up my mic for vocals one for ousting and a di nd possibly a room mic. D just allow the evo to worry about the levels. Will take a lot of stress out of the recording and leave me to do what I do best.
Exactly!! That’s the main purpose I can see, along with the fact that it’s very easy to use, making recording quick and simple when working fast, which I like to do!
@15:00 Duck Snare w/Kick side input -- Gold!!!
Those EVO interfaces are really good ones for the money, I was very impressed with the EVO 4 sound, this EVO 16 is a step forward in everything.
Thanks ever so much for sharing
Wow, that version of "I'm On Fire" is fantastic.
I agree
Thanks ever so much Frank!
@@thesongacademy5017 thanks ever so much!
I can't say enough on how fantastic those Lewitts sound. One of my favorite mic companies as of late. I'm saving up for a 1040.
I couldn't resist using the mic for this demo!
It’s not cheap, but sounds amazing! I didn’t use any EQ at all on the vocals on the mix
@@Producelikeapro Vocals sounded fantastic. I'm about a grand short. Soon I will have that beauty in my cabinet. Thanks for all the great educational content you put out.
@@RyvenProductions thanks ever so much!
Thank you for the detailed review, I already own audience products and I am very happy with them. I just wanted to comment more on the singer. Her performance was amazing and “floaty” with out overly slurring the notes. Thank you again for the video
Would be cool to hear how these compare to Apollo 8 built in pre’s. $500 is a no brainer though. Can’t deny that this recording sounds professional.
Thanks ever so much! I didn't use much or any EQ or compression! Wanted to preserve the recording for you all to hear!
What a GREAT song, vocal and performance in the beginning, outstanding my friend!
Thanks ever so much
I did not think I'm on Fire would translate so well to a slower jam but it really does. It helps that you guys are all excellent musicians. I think The Boss would approve lol.
Great post Warren as always . And I'm getting excited for my first NAMM. I'll try to say hi, as long as your security detail lets me within 50 feet and allows it, hehe. Superstar level with all you do!
NAMM is gaging to be so much fun! Finally back to it! It's been a long two years away from everything!
This is a stunning demo of the gear! Credit to great performance and recording techniques!
Wow!! Thanks ever so much

@@Producelikeapro Dear Warren,
I sent you a bunch of DMs on your Instagram account about a scam artist who is operating through your channel. Could you please read this and warn this wonderful community of followers you have? Thank you!
Looks great but the Roland Octa/Studio capture interfaces have had the automatic gain setting feature for many many years now before this came out 👍
I enjoyed the song and the mix. Thank you for a great episode.
Thanks ever so much
Such a great song performed in a unique way. So nice.
Thanks ever so much
Question : "What does the warm setting do"
John Rambo: "It makes the sound warmer!"
Hahaha thanks
Awesome playing and those vocals are SO beautiful!
Wonderful tune. I loved mixing it as well. Go McKail and Warren!
You’re the best my friend
@@Producelikeapro I really enjoy the new works of McKail and Katie. Your guitar work as always is astounding and wonderful. I like the new vibes very much…..
I was about to buy A Scarlett Clarett for $1000, but I'm thinking this would be a cheaper, 'smarter', option. I love the smart-gain option as well. Thanks for giving me other options!
Thanks ever so much for sharing
You could pickup 2 of these for 16 in and outs for the same money, seems like a no brainer to me
@@tarkett8529 I was just in contact with an audient rep about running dual Evo 16’s. Unfortunately you can’t sync them via USB C, So you would do better cost wise with adding something like an ADA 8200 ADAT Preamp with 8 channels.
@@reread2549 yeah the Behringer is cheaper but you could still run 2 evo’s using adat and for £399 I would prefer those.
Love my Evo 8. This new unit can be an amazing addition to my mobile setup!
Thanks ever so much
lovely version of one of my favourite Bruce songs! love the vocal, feel and Warren's tasty licks. great video, thanks Warren
Thanks Warren for the cool demo!! Wow, what a great deal! Useful piece of kit. What a great company. I jumped the gun last week and bought the Focusrite 18i20 which has similar features, but costs $50 more and doesn't have the auto gain on preamps. Oh well, live and learn I guess.
Thanks David! I really appreciate your support!
@@Producelikeapro You're so welcome. I wouldn't be where I am if I hadn't chance upon you and the Academy way back when.
@@davidhammond3973 thanks ever so much my friend!
My friend ! Receipts and 30 day cash back guarantee exists for a reason ! Return it !
Who knew Warren was a shredder?! Nicely done guys. Considering this unit
Thanks ever so much
I love playing guitar!!
I didn’t even know about this product. What a great review from beginning to end.
It came out today!
Do you know if the evo 16 does class compliant audio? Another example of an interface that does class combined audio would be the tascam model 12. Granted that’s a mixer, but it also does class compliant audio (by which I mean I can plug The tascam model 12 into my MPC and it will be recognized as an available audio interface).
I checked the support documentation at audient, but can’t find any clear answer.
On a side note, the only thing I wish the evo 16 had which it doesn’t is midi. However I can also see the value in Audient just focusing on the audio side.
Anyway, great job on the review.
love her voice and your guitar playing wow that was brillent
Thanks ever so much! I really appreciate it!
How are the pre amps compared the id44 which is almost twice as expensive for half the inputs?
Same thing I’m wondering
She has such an amazing voice! Awesome demo :)
We love McKail’s voice!
Spectacular cover! Perfect voice for this.
That auto gain function is really something. Not quite enough to get me to change over from what I have but if I were buying new it would be a big persuasion.
beautyful performance and recording session !
Ooouuaaah !!! Very very good sound on Springsteen ! Fabulous voice !!!! Thank you very much for this moment. Is there a possibility for buy this version ???
McKail is incredible! This version is not available for purchase but this is McKail's arrangement. I heard it live and knew it had to be recorded.
Multitracks will be available soon
@@Producelikeapro Thx !
Another great demo/cover for a product, Warren. Very good reference for scope. So assume that the ADAT IN/OUTS are 8ch?
Glad you like it!
Those drums just snap. I know it's on fire. So why did I overwelmingly hear Lennon's stand by me. The bass and drums just scream it. Awesome stuff warren
Im going to order one in a few days when I get paid. I was at first set on the iD44. But the higher price tag for this is far more worth it in the end. Thanks
For the number of inputs as well as the built-in features, the price certainly is attractive! Would love to give the automatic gain control a whirl!
Thanks you for this very nice video. It's good to see how you could get great result with a simple and affordable setup.
Thanks ever so much! That's exactly what we are trying to achieve here!
Put that on spotify and I would rock that song on several playlists.
Wow! We will definitely release it!
What an amazing performance and singing! Amazing!
I haven't been able to get anything suped up yet in terms of interfaces yet. For me, the main thing is something that can get you straight in to recording. Gotta keep the inspiration flowing and ready to tape, without nerves or overthinking getting the better of a performance!
cool unit.
only thing stopping me is no dsp there, Im used to my mr816 where I can dial its nice dsp reverb with zero latency to a singer (they always want reverb, you know that) and not have it later on track at all. everybody happy.
I could use external reverb on monitor line for that purpose, but I just don't have one.
If would, this evo will be no brainer for me as it offers 2x adat ins/outs and that another adat evo unit could be linked there for extra 8channels 96kHz if Im not mistaken.
my mr816 has only one pair of those (limits me to 4 adat channels when above 48kHz sampling rate).
great vid/song/recording. thank you:)
Jesus F Christ what a cover! What a voice! Love the Yamaha bass
Thanks ever so much!
Can we team it up with ID44? which one should be the main interface?
Very well presented Sir! Thank you!
Thanks ever so much!
Is it better than the ID44 ?
The new MKII has just been announced! There are some really interesting differences. Head over to Julian Krause's channel to check out a comparison
@@Producelikeapro Yes, nice i've seen your review on it!
I really like the efficient and convenient workflow on the physical side of things and the constant visual feedback. Not to mention the autogain feature! The GUI seems to be well thought off as well. I was looking for a modern Audio Interface, different from the others!
I'm thinking of replacing my old Saffire Liquid 56 with this, combining it with the Octopre MKIIi Dynamic I have aside by exploiting the EVOs ADAT and word clock connection options.
All very good points! Thanks ever so much for sharing!
Pretty cool! For $500 that's rather unreal. A couple of suggestions though which seem like they'd be easy to implement (maybe I'm wrong though). Having preamp Channels 1&2 accessible on the back of the unit as well as the front would be very beneficial. Not the end of the world but particularly session drummers or project studio engineers will likely have the inputs semi permanently wired into either a snake or a Patch bay. Having those cables permanently wired into the front would be an eye sore and potentially difficult to manoeuvre any XLR's into if they are part of a snake that also attaches to channels 3-8 in the back. Again, likely not a deal breaker but might be for some depending on their rack setup. Many interfaces have Hi-Z inputs on the front as an option with regular XLR inputs on the back so that they're still accessible on both sides.
Also, I'm not sure that I saw the Smartgain button in the software mixer. If that's the case the Smartgain feature might not be usable for any session drummer who doesn't have easy access to their interface from their drum set (i.e. separate control room or simply having their setup more than a few feet from their drum set). Some setups are in tight spaces and manually hitting the smart gain button then trying to get back to your kit in time before the function turns off might not be very intuitive or possible depending on the setup.
It looks very promising though and the preamps definitely sound amazing for the price!
This is amazing guys! what you do is pure love and for minutes i just forget about the review and EVO16 but it sounds so great...thank you all for making this beautiful song, and my special thanks to Warren as a great mentor to many of us who follow his works, tips and lessons...thank you
Great performance also !!
I appreciate it!
Great video Warren. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks ever so much I really appreciate it!
great produce like a pro!!!!
Thanks ever so much
Everybody is blowing their beans over this thing, I really can't wait to get one in my hands!
Haha thanks for sharing
For me I've narrowed it down to the 18i20 and the Evo 16 ... but I'm a little wary of the Evo 16 because there's so much hype about it and because there are no real world reviews of it because it hasn't been released to the public yet. All the influencer reviews focus on the smart gain function and say nothing about noise levels, fidelity etc. I also wonder if it's wise to buy an unproven interface in which all of it's functions are controlled by one knob ... it's just a reliability concern. I dunno ... I'm on the fence ... but so far I'm not convinced.
Midas Venice F24. FireWire Studio One 5.. factory plugins.. killler mixes...
Looks like a great option for those of us in home studios with smaller budgets
Fantastic!
That guitar sounds 😍 lovely
Thank you!
always been a big fan of Audient. Still using my ID22 and the converters are top notch. They never bowed to the pressure for "latest and greatest" (example: re outfitting a 2 input interface with thunderbolt 'just because') They came straight out and said "USB2 is enough" and that was that and they were right. this looks like a SOLID unit and SO cheap, money wise. sounds amazing too. Companies like Audient, Warm Audio, Focusrite, ART, etc are heroes for those of us not rich enough to splurge on gold.
Thanks ever so much for sharing! Yes, agreed, great to have affordable, excellent sounding gear that we can all use!
@@Producelikeapro its an honor to hear back from you. been a fan for a long time and you're doing the good work over there! We all appreciate it more than you know. cheers and have an amazing weekend!

Great video, Warren! You are the best.
Thanks ever so much!
ooh that demo song is sweet!
Thanks ever so much! I really appreciate it!
That Smart Gain function is a blessing!
The Audient gear gets better and better. A real innovative company thats punching way above it's weight in that price range. For any Linux users, Audient is plug in and play straight away. Great gear and very concise video that shows amazing results can be had with this interface. Thanks very much for the video
Thanks ever so much Joey!
It seems this is now the cheapest adat i/o system as well. Dang. If I was instead looking at the Motu 828es it seems like this would give it a run for its money.
It could!
I'd like to hear more of this talented lady McKail Seely :)
Definitely more to come!
Which mic leads did you use as they look quite decent. Good quality leads make hell of a difference.
What a lovely song.
This one sounds like it has biggest sounstage and sounds very bold and smooth compared to other Audient products. Seems they did a good job with converters and preamps :)
HA! Flying that in personally is...totally illegal. Well done Audient!
I have an EVO 8 - and I can tell you - I am buying this
Thanks for sharing
Gorgeous vocal...✌💜😁🎤
A Yo, Adam Steel. What you saying cuz. is that demo out, loved the guitars
she's a great singer! well done guys and gals!
Yes, wonderful singer
My 8-in/8-out of 20 years ago was the Gadget Labs Wave/824. That was a great unit for its time, great quality at a great price. I still have it, but the NT 4.0 DAW I used it in has been dead for a long, long time. :-)
Great singer
Thanks ever so much JP!
ngl i want to upgrade to this one despite buying the EVO 8 a few months ago haha, thanks tho since it's because of you guys I even decided on an Evo 8 👌👌
How would you use this with the Apollo Twin X ?
And I ordered a new audio interface yesterday... wish I knew this one was around the corner.
I would be all over this if it featured MIDI ports, oh well, I have to choose Focusrite I guess 😭 Nice video!
Audient pulled a rabbit out the hat with this one.
It’s pretty awesome!!
How many sets of speakers can you hook up to
I like that version of Bruce Springsteen. I also have recorded some various versions of it but I like that one very much.
