Your monologue writing continues to be just perfect. Alex Grimes is a treat and totally unlike the previous two designers in a way that is really charming and funny. Having a wry and snarky designer who both looks down on and is a little afraid of the importance of his work is great worldbuilding for the Omniplex. As for Rex? Axel said it, "*Chef's Kiss*", a wide-stance load shifting mech that can move loads up to... 15m in the air (Guessing based on the implied sizing for the primary hydraulic pistons coming from construction equipment meant to stabilize apartment compelxes.) like a forklift. He's made from repurposed and reconditioned detritus - but by someone who's got a mind for both engineering and repairability. I understand why Axel is pissed about being put in charge of reclamation - he's an engineer. Obviously he's an engineer who scored too highly on keeping the big picture in view and reliability, so he has to manage city-critical services instead of building things like he wants. I'ld be snarky too. It's not like anyone expects to test too high for their dream job. Back to Rex, though. I can't wait to see the detail pass on this figure. I generally have an... issue with modelers using rivets in sci-fi designs, For the most part they were superseded by welding improvements and the ability to forge and machine larger parts. Rivets are essentially stitchwork and are inferior to doing it right the first time, if you can. This guy? Built out of mismatched components that had to be machined into tolerance with one another? I can't wait to see the rivets pop up any time you have two load-bearing parts from different sources. I bet they will look cool as hell there. For the paint pass, I cannot wait to see how you decide on his look. Grimes could betray his namesake and give Rex a full stripdown and fresh primer in order to give the mech a cohesive look, orrrr he could just order someone on his shit-list to clear the actual rust and grime from parts as they were pulled from The Pile and not waste time repainting something that is going to go straight into the waste stream anyway. Rex is supposed to be a new mech, so it feels wrong to fully age him and give him rust-lines and whatnot, but I think having him turn out to be a medley of colors would be awesome. Old whites from factory parts, construction machine mustards and oranges for repurposed heavy-lift equipment like the pistons, random single pieces in bright reds or blues from who-knows-where. He would simultaneously look motley and cohesive. I cannot wait, as always.
@@bearnaff9387 thank you for your continued support! I love this feedback and I’m glad you can enjoy all of the thoughtful design I try to put in. Axel has been a blast to voice, and the mech has definitely sparked a lot of ideas of grime and rust. I’ll do my best to make it make sense of course 😁 You’ll love part 2 where I’ve started adding bulk but I probably won’t get to detailing until part 3 because Rex is king size!
I enjoy your creativity with both building and storytelling!!!! Really cool build!!!

@@krzysztofmathews738 excellent! I have a whole box of phones I have to get through, it’s in The Pile 😂
