You became one of my favorite channel to follow and i'm like a child waiting for a christmas gift each week when you post a video. As you said in your video, sky is a huge part of each of your drawing and i totally understand why you start with it. But how you will approach a drawing, in a closed space ? For example, if you have to draw a scene like "an adventurer exploring a cave or knight entering inside in a huge temple". I guess in those examples, you have to really "emphasis" or "focus" on the perspective by starting with far points and architecture (walls / towers / buildings / ceilling or anything else) to get the main ambiance and the scale ? But for the lights and shadows, in those cases, i guess it's better to start with grey scale to have a good ideo of the balance / contrast in the scene and starting to add lights to adjust this balance ? Once again, sorry for my english, i'm not sure the last part of my comment is understable. For the video part itself, it's interesting to see you "struggling" (in a good way) and working outside of your comfort zone for the jet design part and still pulling up a very nice result. I think this is the nice thing to do, to get new experience and learn new things, for every artists but that's never easy to do. As references, still images / movie etc. are of course the main source of inspiration but i also really like books. I'm a huge fan of sci-fi genre and i'm always impress by long description of atmosphere / things which doesn't exist but feel so real when it's well writed and you can start visualise in your head.
as a long time fan of your work, it's amazing to see your process and hear your thoughts. the bit about knowing when to be fast and slow really resonated with me. Also amazing seeing you change your mind so much too, makes me feel a little less daft for doing it in my own work. :)
Another awesome tutorial. Have you ever thought of releasing an "Essentials" brush pack? I get so bogged down with so many brushes it'd be awesome to get a simplified essentials pack from someone like yourself 👍
