First to comment, yeah!! Great exercises. They really get those ankle muscles working. I have a bunion on my right foot and that really throws me off balance on that side. Thank you.
Wow. This is just the first test I sould do to truly understand the state of my physical shape. Why do planks and HIIT when I can't even stand properly! Thanks for a great video!

Hello Dr. I have a balance problem and vertigo due to eyes. The ophthalmologist gave me eye no. And I wear prescribed glasses. My question is , can I do these exercises with glasses or does it helps in my case ? Please advice. Thanks and Regards!
I have a vestibular nerve trauma Do you know the exercises on how to fix this. I just did an examination and I fall forwards when I look up I have lots of information, but I am needing a lot of help and homework
Hi dr, I’ve had vertigo symptoms for approx 3 months, my gp referred me to ENT but because of the covid situation I’m still waiting for an appointment, so I instead decided to see a vestibular rehabilitation physiotherapist, she picked up that I have downward beating nystagmus when I do the head hang manoeuvre, it had approx 30 seconds latency and would only last approx 3-5 seconds, and when repeating the manoeuvre the nystagmus does not reappear, she said it’s not central related because if it was it would not have a latency and would not disappear on repeating, I also had a brain mri last month and that was normal so that also ruled out a central cause. Fast forward to now, the last couple of days I have noticed that my nystagmus is gone, I have done the head hang manoeuvre on several occasions the last couple of days tabs still no nystagmus, so looks like the crystals have gone back to their normal place (I was told that mines a rare bppv, anterior canal related). I have been given gaze stabilisation excercises to do at home, I just wanted to ask, is it normal to still feel off balance even if the nystagmus has gone? Is it what is called residual dizziness?
I still have this issue I have had tests done like hearing tests and am getting an MRI next week for me. I have had the epley manouvir done a few times and they said mine was in the posterior canal but yeah like you said I still get an off balance feeling when walking and moving my head not as bad as it was but just lingering.
@@fatmamert4718 hopefully. Sometimes I still feel light dizziness, my vertigo happened last Oct. 3 and until now there is very light dizziness almost everyday :(
Dr Jo, I have a problem with dragging my feet (especially the right). I walk with a slight tilt forward and arms in skiing position. Already had two verified diagnosis (GAD) Generalized Anxiety Disorder, that developed intense tension on my neck, traps and shoulders. I went to physical therapy but didn't help much, can you show me how to ease the tension that's affecting my walking? Thank you.
Unfortunately, I really don't know what would be best since I can't evaluate you. Do you have access to a pool? Aquatic therapy (exercising in the pool, not swimming) can really help with tension.
How do I get courage to do these exercises? I have been to an ENT. They basically brushed off my symptoms and said "nothing serious" go to physical therapy. I went to physical therapy and was positive during dix hallpike. On both sides. I've had a CT of my brain, blood work for EVERYTHING, arteries checked in my neck, heart tests.. all normal. I'm only 23 and I'm mortified they've missed something bad in my brain!! My episodes are getting more frequent. I get mainly internal movement. Afterwards I'm very sleepy, and sometimes even have a headache the next day. I've been crying over this and I just don't know what to do anymore. Will this get better? Any success in here? 😭😭
When you went to physical therapy, was it with a vestibular rehab specialist? With positional vertigo, there are different canals that can be affected, so sometimes one maneuver works much better than another.
You're welcome! Did they work with you on balance exercises? Often, that is the safest place to practice these until you get comfortable doing them on your own. Did your physical therapist mention what canal was affected?
Definitely! The first appointment is mostly to figure out what is going on, and then make a plan from there. Hopefully she will get you feeling better in no time!
