Stop Wasting Time on the Man vs Bear "debate"!

A few quick thoughts on the "would you rather meet a man or a bear in the woods?" "debate" which is generally a whole waste of time in a world where most people never meet a bear.
"Don't try to save people who don't want to be saved." Well said. I'll add "Don't try to save people who aren't willing to try to save themselves".
I was wondering what the bear thing was? Silly trends expose silly people.
It's not about not letting them do stupid things, it's about the double standards , the misandry , the biased eay of putting it . I can garantee you that if this was about generalizing any other category of human beings they'd be livid. Also they vote , the same kind of herd mentality and logical fallacies used to claim a bear is safer can and are used to spread racism homophobia ....heck even misoginy . I am SUPER happy that there are some eomen eho call a biased question and a fallacy for what it is . There are plenty of smart girls.
I agree. And yet, nothing you say or do will change their minds. They enjoy their fear and victim mentality. It gives their life meaning and they'd have to improve as people if that got taken away. And that's harder than just hating an entire gender.

I think you are missing the point. The point is that many women feel unsafe around men. For whatever reason. Past experiences I assume. I’ve had horrific experiences with men. Sexually abused as an infant until puberty by my own grandfather. Date raped 2x in college. Do I think all men are like this? Absolutely not. Do I GET why a woman would pick the BEAR? Absolutely yes. With a bear you know their intentions. With a bear there is no false sense of security or trust. The bear isn’t trying to SA the woman. THIS IS THE POINT.

And with 99% of men there is no false sense of security either. Same with most women. The vast majority of people of either gender are not psychopaths who do this sort of thing.
I'll acknowledge women are under constant threat of violence, misconduct, and creepiness from men, and that sometimes this violence can be so bad its worse than death. What happened to you is terrible and there's no excuse for it. I can't speak for other men, but Im not offended nor do I think you're saying "all men".
But you can make that point without resorting to ridiculous statements, and your experiences don't immediately make those statements valid. If you encountered as many bears as men, for the same amount of time, they would pose far more danger to you. There's a reason women in tribal societies universally choose men.
I don't think using this kind of messaging is helping spread awareness, it's just fueling men's preconceptions that women are hysterical. Because this claim is completely based on biased emotion, and that doesn't merit credibility.
So I'd argue YOU'RE missing the point; if you want to say something just say it. Don't hide the point in a bad analogy and then blame other people for not resonating with the analogy.
