I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.
I just bought it at home depot. I'm a trucker so I use this to clean out my 53ft refrigerated trailer. I can't wait until my trailer gets dirty and fills up with broken wood and woodchips from the wooden pallets xD. My 60v snapper blower just broke after 2 years so went out and bought this upgrade. I CAN'T WAIT TO USE IT!
@@Kitearmy I delivered at the Walmart DC at 0500. The trailer wasn't that dirty but I just couldn't wait for another load or two before it got dirty like I had planned. OMG! You're not joking! It's insane! It was pushing the small pieces almost halfway down the trailer and even the bigger peices I didn't have to walk up to them and practically touch em with the blower to move em like I did with the snapper. GJ to the folks over at EGO! This product is amazing so far! Also thank you for the reviews and comparisons cause that made my decision a lot easier. Cleaning out the trailer is a breeze now and I look forward to it unlike before xD
@@truespartan9267 Hey Spartan - so stoked it's helping out. Also I would be remiss if I didn't thank you for all your efforts out there right now. We really appreciate you folks keeping our stores stocked and the supplies moving. Hats off mate!
@@Kitearmy Oh you are very welcome! I've been out since mid January and planning on staying out until this is all over with. Hopefully its soon because I really want to go home, it has been too long and it sucks having to miss Easter with the family :C
I bought this yesterday, and it is worth it! Last two years I wore myself out raking leaves and last year I vowed I would have a blower for the leaves this year. I kept my promise to myself, and although I was tired after all the leaves I had to deal with, it was so much better than the raking. I have the EGO medal body brushless lawnmover and trimmer with the capability of interchangeable attachments -- and they have and still are performing well, including the original batteries. EGO is for me the best. No gas, no oil changes, no high maintenance, and no straining or frustrating myself with yanking a cord! That in of itself is a blessing!
Here is a bit of info most people do not think of.....Health Issues!! I have COPD. I just purchased this 650 CFM Ego Blower and I sold my Back Pack Blower. The Back Pack Blower is now too heavy for me. 20-25lbs is a bit much for my health condition. So getting this newer Ego Blower at half the weight is very helpful. Plus I use the strap to help carry it. So far it is not bad. It does what I need it too. Now it is not as powerful as a good Back Pack Blower... However, I am NOT using it to move all the leaves in the yard. (We have MEGA leaves...Mostly Oak Leaves) I am using it to get the leaves out from the house, beds, fence, and other obstacles. THEN I use my Toro Timecutter (50"/23hp Kawasaki Engine) to move/mulch the leaves toward the end of my property to then have a service suck them up and dispose of them. This 650CFM Blower is really nice. Does what I need it to. I am just hoping the battery (I plan on getting more batteries) and the Blower hold up. I have heard that people have had some Quality Control Issues with some of Ego's products but I have not seen any problems myself. I plan on getting a Ego Trimmer too. I just have not decided on which model yet... Thanks for the video. I will check out the 'Test Videos' you have made as well...
@@Kitearmy I already did (along with many other videos you made) The Beach Ball one was informative and Entertaining. Thank you! BTW: Did Ego stop producing the 580CFM Blower since they came out with the 650CFM?
Would love to know what you think. I'm having a hard time choosing between the 650 and the previous 580. The 580 has dropped significantly below the 650 which is making me lean more towards the 580.. curious to know if that extra CFM is enough for me to go with the 650.. here is the kicker, my primary reason to purchase a leaf blower is to dry my car when I wash it!!!
@@Kitearmy clarification: right know the 650 with battery/charger is going for $299. 580 is going for $230 at (battery and charger) Different of $69. Do you think paying that extra $69 for the newer model is worth it.. What would you do?
Kite Army, you just cost me $300. Picked up this blower today at Home Depot and all I can say is WOW ! A little more powerful than my little DEWALT DCBL720
I love my Ego string trimmer but for my yard I needed something with a much longer run time for a leaf blower s I had to go gas. But I really enjoy how quiet my Ego string trimmer is and it’s power. And loading the string is so easy I can do it at my age. I purchased it after watching you test and review on your channel. I had looked at so many battery string trimmers I was about to lose my mind and of course we all want the best for our money. But when it came to a leaf blower I had purchased the very nice Ego you tested in this video but it just didn’t fit what I needed and I sure was hoping it would. I returned it to HomeDepot and went to my friendly Lawn implement center and purchased an Echo gas 2 cycle blower. It’s the (model PB-2620) Echo’s only hand help X serious - commercial blower + commercial 2 cycle gas engine = 172 mph air speed - 456 air volume at its nozzle. It came with 2 nozzles one for clearing a wider area and one for a narrower area. It’s not to noisy at 70 dB - weight 9.8 lbs full 5 year warranty @ $199.00 plus tax. You will pay $258.00 @ Home Depot for some reason and they don’t do any setup such as show you how to operate it and my local lawn product store filled its gas tank up showed me the correct way to start it - 1 - 2 pulls even my wife starts it - so once home it was ready to go. I just can’t figure out why Home Depot charges more than a Echo’s dealer does. It will run for about 25 minutes at full speed on one tank of fuel and I use about 4 - 5 tanks to do everything I need to do. It’s excellent for leaves but possibly not quite as powerful good as the battery Ego but close even though it’s lacks a bit on paper. So for those not able yet to have the battery Ego yet because of their yard and driveway area you might check out this Echo and make sure you check on the PB2620 because they offer a non- commercial one for about 19 bucks more and (find a Echo dealership other than HomeDot if you purchase one) - and it doesn’t have the second nozzle and a smaller fuel tank and a non commercial engine. But the factory rep stopped in I asked him about it the lessor price for a better blower - I was told there trying to after a better price hoping commercial lawn care people might purchase it. No way is a commercial law care person going to use a hand held there considered a sissy tool in their trade - I asked a couple companies in my area LOL. Again I still wish I could have gotten by with the Ego but I also have so many Oak trees I am doing their leaves for days in the fall. Maybe you might review some gas blowers even though the most can get by using - average home owners property - that is with a battery blower. Nice review as always. Again a am so sorry for my long comments + I may delete this one not sure. I recently found out I have my brain tumor in five years this one is cancerous- thus my confusion and memory issues. Thank You so much and you have a very good channel, Cheers
@@MYTOYMAKERZ I love your comments. I hope you get well soon. I have a hard time recommending gas yard tools to anyone and for the most part that is why I do not review them. Though I know that for big properties like yours it might be your only option. I just hate the fumes, the nasty oil, noise, oil changes, maintenance, starting issues - but that is just me . Be safe and get well - and keep those comments coming!!!!
Andrew,... you’re killing me! I watch your videos,.. and then I go buy EGO equipment. I currently own the 580 CFM blower, string trimmer(auto refill), and the edger. I’ve waited on a mower and WHAM, you produce the EGO Select Cut mower video. I’ll be buying that in the spring. You’re costing me a lot of money! LOL Thanks for the great videos and keep them coming!
Hey Andrew, I went for this blower and am totally impressed, fantastic product!! Your shootouts and reviews really helped me make an informed decision, thanks for all your intelligent and upbeat videos! Cheers man!
@@Kitearmy What's also great about this blower is that it does lower speeds/CFM's as efficiently as the higher outputs. That variable speed just lets you match the right power to the job so you're never overdoing it and creating more airborne debris. I clean up around a building where there are pedestrians on one side and I don't have to worry about blasting them. Plus the noise level is really pedestrian friendly unless you need to go to occasional turbo. A very sophisticated tool!

Hi Kite. No we don't have a brand of the EGO. I do everything on doing yard work as I love it. I use my ZT for the Lawn. Question> Can I lift this EGO to do yard work? My Husband does the edging of fenceline & curbing only because I haven't tried. I watch him doing that but I think it is a pain as to he stops to change the red string! What a pain in the butt. We have a small cordless in the Barn I use twice a day. I love it as to no extension cord. I have a blower both using extension cords in the front garage & shop. It is a pain! I just have to convince my Husband on the cost factor of this EGO. I had him watch the two videos that you have done in the past on each blower. So is Home Depot the only store you can get this from? Most of the time we deal with Lowes but we do have a Home Depot here in Northern Idaho.
Great news KIte> My Husband has decided to go to Home Depot tomorrow to look at the new EGO 180 mph 650 CFM-Volt Blower (Model #LB6504) which runs up to 75 min. of run time! Now I have another question I was looking on Home Depot Online and there is another Ego (Model #LB5804) that runs a little more in price & runs 3 Hours I believe?
@@StarOne311 That is the older model - make sure they have them in the store - these are so new you may have to order on home depot website. Funny comment by the way, it is normally the husband wanting to buy and the wife objecting. You are a great wife :)
I just had a showdown with a commercial backpack blower. I left the poor landscaper in tears. Bwah-hah-hah! One of my favorite uses is gutter cleaning. I have one 60’ gutter run, and I can clear it in under a minute even when it is full of wet leaves and composite gravel. NOT in turbo.

Early EGO 650s have some kind of flaw \ safety shutoff that can get triggered, bricking your blower. They claim it happens if the user removes the battery while the dial is not in the off position. Allegedly you are supposed to be able to re-insert the battery, set dial to off, and pressing the trigger to reset. I had one die, but I didn't pull the battery with the dial on. EGO \ HD did replace it no questions, but it was only a month old.
@@Kitearmy No problems with the replacement (First week in June), but scanning EGO community sites (including their own site) and their CS confirmed they had seen these models dying. But, at that point the model was probably 5 mos old, so likely they had not found root cause, or could be a bad batch. I still think it's one of the best on the market. Don't know that you can get close to this much power without going to a gas backpack model.
I think you missed a dramatic opportunity in this video. You never showed the effect of hitting the turbo button. I just bought one of these and it's a fantastic blower, even without using it in turbo mode. But when you hit that turbo button... OH MY! If you need a burst of power, you'll love it! I was using it to blow some leaves off my driveway and in to the street. In normal mode, I could get the leaves about halfway across the street... which is better than my old corded blower use to be able to do. But when I hit that turbo button, I could send the leaves all the way over to the other side of the street! It was amazing. I'm surprised you never demonstrated it in your video.

awesome video, thx for making it, I went to my local Home Depot in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada where i have bought all of my Ego yard stuff to buy the Blower and was blown away and sad to say the least that Home Depot Canada no longer sells or carries Ego any longer, pissed off they are only selling off existing stock and parts/acessoroes, checking other places holy crap the mark up is stupidly high that blower was 398.00 CDN at HomeDepot is now $500 or more everywhere else in Canada, this totally sucks , guess i'll have to see if theres any available as sell out or clearance items, oh well i tried , 👍
Hey I have the 530 cfm blower. Its great but I have a question. When i pull the trigger it makes a small crank noise then blows. Is that normal? Never had one do that
Question, since I have large yard, will 5ah battery do the job? Can I also add 10ah battery to this, 7.5ah, or it's only for 5ah? How is the wind speed with just 5ah, 180mph? Or 180mph is only for turbo mode?
I just got one yesterday and Wow, you could fill a hot air balloon with it ,I ,I didn't find it that heavy either.great controls.was apprehensive about getting it but not now.!!!!!
Are you not going to show us the ego gutter cleaning kit? It’s been available at Home Depot for $50. Looks like just a lot of black plastic tubing with last piece being u shaped. No taper etc. looks cheap but
Tried it this morning. I didn't like it. the piece that piece that is supposed to blow out the gutters actually flew off while i was doing the job. I had to go get a ladder and get it off the roof. I am really curious as to its run time. My gas blower was an Echo PB200 and it lasted me 14 years with nothing done to it but a few spark plugs and air filters. Well it bit the dust this fall so after purchasing my Echo string trimmer which I like a lot I thought why not a leaf blower. I purchased one but even using the battery from my string trimmer it couldn’t nearly get through my yard. I returned it and went back looking at gas ones and ended up purchasing the Echo PB2620 their commercial hand held model. I must say I really like it it’s powerful at 456 CFM’s and 172 MPH. It’s not that loud at 70d and starts on one pull but it takes about 3 minutes of running it before it kicks out its max engine rpm. Now for a gas hand held its the most powerful one so far sold. But you just had to go and spoil my purchase LOL with the new EGO blower with a Five amp battery. But I still don’t feel it’s going to give me near the run time I need even again using my string trimmers battery. I am also curious about the weight of the new EGO and how close it will weight more or less than my gas one. Regardless these battery trimmers and blowers had up in cost and I could justify it if I had the money. But at 74 years old and a fixed income I cannot honestly afford all of them as it is my EGO trimmers battery has to be charged twice to get my trimming done unless I do it fully every week which my body tellls me you had better not push me LOL. But I really enjoy all of these neat battery yard tools but myself thinking about their run time this winter my body is telling me it’s cutting down on its run time. So having to wait for a battery to charge turns out to be a plus LOL Thank You
If it takes 2 charges to get through your yard with a string trimmer this blower probably will not work for you. I would estimate the real world run time to be about 30min.
Kite Army thanks so much just smashed the like button a million times until it turned blue!! One more question probably the toughest one so please don’t feel bad not being able to answe me it. So the question is... if I use the 2.5ah on the 650cfm blower how long will the blower last under the turbo setting and on the non turbo settings.
Thanks again for bring out news on the new product. What is your thought on this unit vs the 600CFM Backpack unit and which additional nozzle adapter is most effective (or do they do anything at all)? I don't have much leaf to blow without many trees around; however, using the 530CFM to blow clean the lawn mower, trimmer and drying car as well as cleaning the garage during warm weather. I use the leaf blower more during the winter time to blowing away light snow off driveway and car as well as drying car in the garage.
always wanted a cordless leaf blower for clearing leaves and cleaning gutters but also for drying my truck after wash. Has anybody used this leaf blower to dry car or truck and how did it perform? thx
I’ve blasted the like button until it turned blue!!!! QUESTION- I just bought ego trimmer that came with a 2.5 ah battery. If I use that battery at 2.5 AH and buy this blower 650cfm TOOL ONLY will I still be able to get the 180mph? Or would I need to get the 5ah. REASON FOR THE QUESTION: I just bought the trimmer with the battery for $220. If I buy the blower with the batter it will cost me $300. Do you see now it’s becoming an expensive journey mate. So I’m trying to play it smart and save a few Benjamins. Thanks 😊 🙏
I just got this blower and took it out today, but I don't know if my battery or charger is defective. The manual states to charge it before first use. On the charger, it indicates that when the light is blinking green, it's charging, and when the light is solid green, it's full charged. However, the green light on the charger is solid, but pressing the power on the battery shows that there's only 1 green bar. The battery has been charging for 1 hr with the solid green light, and the battery still shows 1 green bar. Can you confirm?
Having a choice to buy the 650 or the 580 for the same price, with the same 5amp battery. Which should I choose? It’s for my own little landscape use. Thanks so much for your help!
Maybe for this blower my question doesn’t apply because it’s brand new but...how do I know if the ego batteries come with the new fuel indicator? I emailed one authorized dealer and the kit I inquired about came with the old batteries (glad I asked). I want to pull the trigger but it seems it may be hit or miss until the old batteries are gone. Any info is appreciated. Thanks
I'm curious if you could do a direct comparison between he new 650fcm and the old 580cfm. It would be nice to know if the new one is worth it vs a use/refurb 580.
Kite Army I’ve heard that this can be temporary when a new model is being rolled out. And of course I’d expect if you compare the models as brand new side by side the 650 is a no brainer. But I’d expect every soon Home Depot will start listing refurb 580 models at a discount the way they do with other older ego products. The real question is whether a refurb 580 would be a better deal or if there’s enough value/difference in performance there to spring for a new 650
does anyone know the cell configuration of the Ego batteries? Assuming "56V" is referring to nominal voltage at 3.7V per cell what averages out to 15 cells in series per battery pack. is this correct?
@@Kitearmy Side by side, is the difference noticeable? You are probably one of the few who have used both of these models. I would be interested in your opinion a value given the current pricing.
I’m actually returning my backpack blower made by ego to replace it with this since it’s better somehow got a love when The only thing that can compete is another item made by the same company 😂
I use mine to clear snow of my car - works great for this up to about 3 inches - more if it is real dry. Not sure it would work out if you wanted to do your whole driveway
You have 2 hands, why not use 2 blowers?

@@Kitearmy Oh you are very welcome! I've been out since mid January and planning on staying out until this is all over with. Hopefully its soon because I really want to go home, it has been too long and it sucks having to miss Easter with the family :C
@@truespartan9267 Yeah - for what it is worth, happy Easter
Great comment - thanks for sharing
I bought one last week and it is awesome. It moves wet pine straw and oak leaves with no effort at all.

I bought the chainsaw recently... definitely worth it. The chainsaw outlasted me in the yard. I wish Ego developed a riding lawnmower.
Rumors have been around forever about an EGO riding mower
Any advice on which battery to go with between 2.5ah and 5? I keep hearing the 5 is too heavy, but have no idea. Thanks!
I received an email from EGO 2 weeks ago. Their riding mower is coming in early 2021. You can see for yourself at egopowerplus.com.
I bought this model for my mother 2020 for Christmas, and she loves it!!!

(We have MEGA leaves...Mostly Oak Leaves)
I am using it to get the leaves out from the house, beds, fence, and other obstacles.

People give me grief about being an EGO fanboy until they try them
@@Kitearmy What's also great about this blower is that it does lower speeds/CFM's as efficiently as the higher outputs.

Let us know what you think
Early EGO 650s have some kind of flaw \ safety shutoff that can get triggered, bricking your blower. They claim it happens if the user removes the battery while the dial is not in the off position. Allegedly you are supposed to be able to re-insert the battery, set dial to off, and pressing the trigger to reset. I had one die, but I didn't pull the battery with the dial on. EGO \ HD did replace it no questions, but it was only a month old.
I have not heard or had that problem - anyone else
Good point

Just waiting for the backpack version of this. And it could have two battery slots like the Ryobi's backpack blower.
EGO does make a backpack blower - I think 600CFM
This is more powerful, not to mention maneuverability
Have it waiting for gen 2 backpack blower.
@@lichking1951 I would bet that a updated backpack blower could be in the works
Why is the amazon link for the lower grade unit (530 cfm w/ 2.5 amp battery) instead of the beast you are reviewing?
I will check it - amazon sometimes switches products
What happens if I use the 2.5ah... will I still get the hurricane 5 winds?
Same power - shorter run time
Kite Army thanks so much just smashed the like button a million times until it turned blue!!
Given how you describe you want to use it - I would go with this over the backpack - just grab and go
Kite Army thanks for the reply. Now I just have to wait for Home Depot to have them in stock.
@@Jeo-What Yeah - I think they are on back order in lots of home depots
always wanted a cordless leaf blower for clearing leaves and cleaning gutters but also for drying my truck after wash. Has anybody used this leaf blower to dry car or truck and how did it perform? thx
For some reason Home Depot is not selling the 580cfm, I was trying to buy that one but it seems that I am going to buy the 650👌👌
That is the best blower available
I'm sold!
You should consider working with Consumer Reports!
Sometimes it feels like I do!
we have this model it lasted 90 days and died ego is sending us a new unit
I hear they have problems near water - i have tested a bunch of these and never had an issue
Do a video on hart 40v blowers i have one its pretty powerfull
Thanks 😊 🙏
Perfect plan - I like the 2.5Ah paired with this blower
I just got this blower and took it out today, but I don't know if my battery or charger is defective. The manual states to charge it before first use. On the charger, it indicates that when the light is blinking green, it's charging, and when the light is solid green, it's full charged.
However, the green light on the charger is solid, but pressing the power on the battery shows that there's only 1 green bar. The battery has been charging for 1 hr with the solid green light, and the battery still shows 1 green bar.
Can you confirm?
I would run the blower till the battery dies and then charge
@@Kitearmy Thanks for your reply. So the charger should be blinking green to indicate charging if the battery is not fully charged right?
@@6thDAY Yes
Just ordered mine yesterday
Good thing we have a while before those leaves start falling
Do the beach ball test against the 580CFM model. Reduced run time with this extra power?
They claim longer run times - that will have to be tested
How would compare the 650 to the 580? Some said the 580 is better and quieter. I would really appreciated opinion pls.
I think they are about the same in performance - they both kill
What is the cfm on low? On boost (normal gas blower cfm) what is the run time?
Can you do a beach ball test to allow comparison to your prior shoot-out?
Having a choice to buy the 650 or the 580 for the same price, with the same 5amp battery. Which should I choose? It’s for my own little landscape use. Thanks so much for your help!
At the same price go for the 650
Maybe for this blower my question doesn’t apply because it’s brand new but...how do I know if the ego batteries come with the new fuel indicator? I emailed one authorized dealer and the kit I inquired about came with the old batteries (glad I asked). I want to pull the trigger but it seems it may be hit or miss until the old batteries are gone. Any info is appreciated. Thanks
I'm pretty sure this model is only available with the new Gen3 battery (fuel gauge)
how long will it allow you to work with it and what is the battery life generally?
see my new blower shoot out
I'm curious if you could do a direct comparison between he new 650fcm and the old 580cfm. It would be nice to know if the new one is worth it vs a use/refurb 580.
Great suggestion. I noticed the new model is priced lower than the 580
Kite Army I’ve heard that this can be temporary when a new model is being rolled out. And of course I’d expect if you compare the models as brand new side by side the 650 is a no brainer. But I’d expect every soon Home Depot will start listing refurb 580 models at a discount the way they do with other older ego products. The real question is whether a refurb 580 would be a better deal or if there’s enough value/difference in performance there to spring for a new 650
@@TK-mj9rd I like the 580 too - if you can get 1 for a good price that is a good idea
does anyone know the cell configuration of the Ego batteries? Assuming "56V" is referring to nominal voltage at 3.7V per cell what averages out to 15 cells in series per battery pack. is this correct?
It is a good starting point then they build them in parallel to increase the amps
Nice video, thanks
Thank you too
Andrew, you should tell Ego to come out with an ice auger !!!!
after the battery beer kegerator
Hows it compare to the EGO back pack blower?
I think the backpack is putting out 600cfm
How fast does the turbo exhaust the battery ?
I watched all your blower videos and you you are the best , EGO should pay you lol cause they are the best in the world i guess right now
Thanks mate - cordless just keeps getting better and better
I'm partial to the Ego backpack blower....too much weight carrying these as opposed to hauling it on my back with those 7.5ah batteries
The 7.5Ah does get heavy - the battery on the handheld is 5Ah
Really good review
Thanks mate - more to come
The quick charger from Ego is worth the investment. I can get a full charge on the 5mAh battery in like 20min.
I now love the dual battery charger
doesn't it get heavy holding it so so long?
Is the backpack blower better or this one?
Yes is it can. I just keep switching hands. This works for about 30 to 49 mins which happens to be the battery run time. Then I rest and recharge.
So if the older LB5804 is $70 cheaper (brand new at Home Depot) than this new version, is the extra 70 cfm and 12 mph worth it?
If you want to save a few bucks - jump on the the 580cfm
@@Kitearmy Side by side, is the difference noticeable? You are probably one of the few who have used both of these models. I would be interested in your opinion a value given the current pricing.
I’m actually returning my backpack blower made by ego to replace it with this since it’s better somehow got a love when The only thing that can compete is another item made by the same company 😂
They beat themselves
You think if you strapped a bunch in a circle you could make a flying craft?
don't think i have not considered that
@@Kitearmy Way too expensive though.
You show is excellent
Thanks mate
Will this blower work on snow? Unlike the 530cfm model .
Don't know - many have said that it will be a problem with snow
How do you think this blower would work for clearing an inch or 2 of snow?
I use mine to clear snow of my car - works great for this up to about 3 inches - more if it is real dry. Not sure it would work out if you wanted to do your whole driveway
I just tried my 580 on 3" of kinda wet snow on my patio. Waste of time, as it sprayed it all over.
@@jasonk3038 Yep - I use mine on my car - great for that not huge snow removal
How about comparing the 615 cfm model to the 650? Is the 650 worth $50 more?
It is if you get the 5ah battery
