Great review! My unit with RTX3070 and R5800H is coming and it's reassuring to see this review of the Legion 7 as somehow it didn't get much coverage by the big tech youtubers compared to the Legion 5 Pro.
BTW, I know you probably know since you had the previous version, but make sure you enable Over Drive (drops the response time to 3ms for the display) and if you disable hybrid mode and go dGPU only, you get about 15% better performance in games. Also, enable Dolby Sound in Vantage, it makes the speakers sound much better.
@@denizeker89 Lenovo states that it drops it to 3 ms and if you check out Jarrod's review (1:45) it ensured an average GtG response time of 4.38ms so it's pretty accurate.

@@moonknight8693 No issues so far. Works like a charm and it's a beast of a machine. I just un-installed the unacceptable Corsair software, because it drained the battery and now I can get ~6-7 hours unplugged. Otherwise, extremely satisfied.

If you game, there is probably nothing better than thi machine. Effective cooling, powerful enough to enjoy FS2020 maxed out or Cyberpunk at max settings, beautiful, bright screen at 165Hz and the list goes on. However, if you need a general purpose computing tool that has to be light and portable, look elsewhere. It's heavy and the power brick alone is HUGE (300W!!!!) and heavy (probably weighs a kilogram). Other than that, I've been enjoying this PC a lot and it looks like it will last for many years to come.
These reviews have the production value of channels 100x larger! Its rare to find a channel that actually keeps it real and does realistic tests with the equipment so we can see what using it will really be like. Great humour too, cheers from the UK

Tobii Head tracking is best in Simulator games. Farming Simulator, Star Citizen, Flight Simulators, Etc. Pretty cool for that if it works as well as head tracking with the actual Tobii hardware. I will test it when I get my Legion 7 to see how it works for simulator games!
Tobii is VERY useful in Flight SImulators such as DCS or Microsoft Flight Simulator. My guess is that the reason that the Legion 7 DOESN'T have eye-tracking is due to it having a 720p web camera. Tobii does have devices that allow for accurate eye tracking, that are on my personal wishlist whenever I recover financially from getting this beast...

@@nic_k 7i. The audio is good - definitely above average for a gaming laptop - gets good and loud and doesn't sound thin or tinny. I haven't done any real testing in regards to battery life as I primarily use it for gaming and keep my laptop plugged in at all times. I also made sure hybrid mode was deactivated as soon as I received my unit to boost the GPU's performance. But I can say that the couple of times I used it unplugged (browsing UA-cam/web), battery drained real quick. I'm sure enabling hybrid mode and setting your panel to 60hz will have much better results though. I also have had the battery set to conservation mode since I got it so I've never even had a full charge - something to note. I also hear that the iCue software kills eats your battery real quick - I disabled that service immediately.

I've seen some reviews about legion 5 pro which they say the audio is trash (nahimic) bass is missing etc. Personally, I asked that because I like to listen to music without headset. From What I've read till now is that Bang & Olufsen (hp Laptop Speakers) sound amazing! Although i prefer to get a lenovo one as the display is amazing! As for the battery duration I expect around 5 hours. (if screen brightness is lowered)

Alienware m15 R2 owner with Tobi - I actually only use Tobi for easier navigation with the track pad. For me it makes more sense then a touch screen on a laptop. For example if you are clicking on the windows icon (bottom left); you just look at the icon then long touch anywhere on the touch pad and your mouse curser will automatically go to where your eyes are looking. Although this doesn’t always works flawlessly.

Personally, I use Open Hardware Monitor. It's a simple, but free, monitoring software that let's me keep an eye on Clock speeds, power usage, and temperatures, etc. My reason for picking this one is that it's very easy to keep windowed on my laptop screen (that I use as my secondary when at home).
My Legion 7i is coming on Wednesday (went with the i7-11800H and 3070 though) but I am coming from last year's (i7-10750H and 2080 Super Max-Q) and the Legion 5 Pro that I had just wasn't doing it for me.

Ended up ordering this, but with a 3060 and a 11800h. I mostly player easier to run games on my laptop, Fallout NV, Left 4 Dead 2, at most Black Ops 3 or Destiny 2, so I didn’t need anything more than a 3060, and I figure with the lower tier GPU it’ll be a bit quieter anyways. Looking forward to getting mine!

The 5i Pro 2022 looks like a really solid option too but that is nowhere to be found now because it just came out. You'll get a good 3 more hours of battery life if you disable Corsair's Icue software, at the expense of your custom lighting effects. Corsair really needs to fix their software, they've had the same problem for years...
OLED will always beat any LCD when it comes to image quality. That's a fact. The blacks are incredible and makes gaming look almost 3D at the pixel density you get at 15" or 16".
@@robhewitt5640 Depends on what I would use it for. For strictly gaming, where I need high frame rates, then it would be the Lenovo. I get more frames, a bigger display, and probably higher specs. For light gaming and pretty much everything else, then it'd be an OLED (not necessarily Razer as their overpriced).

But did they fix the stupid Corsair iCUE RGB battery drain problem?, They had that last year year and also in this one aswell, How did they not fix a huge problem like that? I purchased directly through Lenovo. They release them periodically though so you have to keep checking and hope to get lucky. Right after I purchase this particular model, it disappeared for some reason but popped back up a few weeks later.

You should try putting it on a stand or just elevating the back a bit. I have the same laptop and CPU temps are mostly in the 70s while gaming.
I have a thermal take massive 20 rgb cooling pad and at max my temps stay at 65 even while playing intensive games

I just ordered mine but with the 3070, couldn't stomach $650 for the 3080 just way too much money for only a little gain in FPS.
