    Moving through the Kua and the idea of releasing and opening through the Kua is a key component of all Taiji and Qigong practice. This particular exercise is not only a useful tool for releasing through the Kua but also works to improve the strength and flexibility of the coccyx (tailbone), sacrum and lower back. This is vitally important for practitioners of Neigong who want to open the Weilu pass (often the most ridged of places) and to improve the quality of internal movement in this area.

    Thank you,for sharing. My one request would be the first exercise from a side view, to better capture the contrast in hips front to back spatially. I learned a lot and enjoyed the content!

    Brilliant! Thank you for going into detail. Really helping to open up hips. On a journey the realign bow legs this is a great practice.
    I have one question about the rotation. The hips move forward and back in opposite direction. Do they then separate? As if you are pulling the hips apart from inside? Thank you

    Hi Tina, this exercise is really engergizing. Thank you again.how would you translate or define KUA?
    IS thes part of your web cours on Neidan Gong. When does the cours start? Best regards, Peter

      Hi Peter, the kuà translates as the innominate bone - where the 3 bones of the pelvis meet on each side. The Neidan Foundations course has stared but you can still join. If you are interested please go to our website and drop us a message through the contact page: Ruyischool.com

    Jeez Tina, this is an amazing movement! It’s going in my daily repertoire 😁
    I started off very internal rather than external with the knees and I noticed that when I make light fists like you and follow you, it can feel almost like an energetic movement with the area inside moving with my hands, which is a seriously cool feeling.
    However my question is should it be more of a ‘physical’ movement rather than a tiny subtle sensation of movement? If you get me! There is definitely a movement but it’s very subtle. Thank you 🙏🏼

      Awesome Caroline! This is such a fantastic exercise that I've been doing regularly for 25 years now and still value it greatly. In answer to your question it really depends on what you want to get out of it. If you have enough experience and awareness to feel the energetic movement then you can continue with this more 'subtle' side and develop the quality of this aspect. However it is also a great exercise in a physical way in order to soften, strengthen and maintain the physical health of this area. I find it helps enormously with my posture and flexibility and if I've spent a long day in the garden it really helps ease the body ;) In practice I personally start off with the physical, albeit in the hip (innominate bone), tail and sacrum and the associated muscles, then I move my focus inside to the soft connective tissue, the opening and closing and all that flows through it.

      Ruyi school thank you. Yes I can see how I could give a little more focus to the physical, the energetic side I picked up on straight away so I could give that less attention. When I sat down for my still practice I could tell how activating it is.
      I could feel movement in the kua but there’s always plenty to let go of in that whole area and I can see how regular practice could compensate daily life tensions that creep in. Many thanks. 🙏🏼

      @@carolinewilliamsinternity468 You don't have to give less attention to the energetic, especially when you are feeling it so well :) but focus on one and then the other. Also how one affects the other.

    So, now I tried this too. My hips send some interesting signals now. One question: You presented the intro into the movement with the fists. At the end - staying in motion through your exolanations - I opened the hands with the lao gong downwards. The effect is somewhat different, but quite intensive. Should I integrate this or is there a possible problem with this variation?

    • @Ruyischool
      @Ruyischool  2 роки тому

      Hi Klaus, there is no problem with this variation, just remember that the primary focus is the softening and opening & closing of the kuà.

    Very good video. I saw inner side of your feet were not grounded it means something is wrong. I guess your kua is not open. My open means creating space not the actions open vs close. There will be no need to move your feet when your kua is open up with space. Also the knees should be always relaxed.

      Thank you for your comment. Remember that this is an exercise and not a Taiji movement.
