- Learn about the Kua, where it is and its function in Tai Chi movement. The position of the Kua is essential in directing our posture in life and during the practice of Tai Chi. Many Tai Chi practitioners focus on the Dan Tian, but in truth the Kua is far more important. If the Kua is positioned properly, the Dan Tian has to move properly and your body moves properly in Tai Chi. Becoming aware of your Kua is an essential element in doing Tai Chi correctly. Improve your Tai Chi by watching this video and becoming aware of your Kua.

Thanks for letting me part of your Tai Chi Journey!
Great explanation about what the kua is. Opening the kua and using it is very difficult for many people, but it is essential for advancing in tai chi.
Thank you, Joe! 😊
Many thanks for your very informative reply about the watch. I am looking at replacing and older Fitbit and you were quite helpful.
Quite impressed with your pup. Very calm and well behaved, doing his "stretching" excercises in the background.🙂
You’re very welcome! During the video shooting I’m oblivious as to what my dogs are doing. Afterward, when I’m editing the videos, It cracks me up to see them stretching and participating in their own way! They love feeling the Qi!
Thank You for Sharing in Tai Chi Connection Facebook Group!
Thank you. Hope it is helpful.
Thank you very much for sharing! 🙏
You are welcome!
I don't really understand what you mean by the hip joint/socket 'dropping'. The femur can drop but a joint can't 'drop', can it? I can feel the bottom of the hip edge but below that all I feel is muscle/tendons...are you trying to create space in the joint itself or sink the hip onto the femur?
That is a good question for me to clarify. You are actually trying to create space in the joint.
Susan, enjoyed your discussion of the Kua.
On an unrelated subject, would you tell us what brand fitness tracker/watch it is that you are wearing?
Thank you kindly..
:-). Thank you! It is a Garmin Vivoactive HR. The one in this video is the small simpler version. Usually I wear the Vivoactive 3 HR which has more features. Garmin watches are a bit pricey, but in my personal experience is that they are SO much better than other smart watches, especially if you are wanting accurate fitness data. The compatible app is great. Hope this helps! OF course none of them measure my Tai Chi steps! Lol. I take it as a compliment when my watch gives me notification to "move" while I am doing Tai Chi because my steps are so soft it doesn't pick them up!
Where did you get the small skeleton? So great for teaching!
I got him at some general store during Halloween season. I've had him a long time! 😊
thank you for sharing, great explanation:)
Thank you! I'm glad it was helpful .😊
