This is unironically exactly how you're supposed to play
Yesss
Being an avid player of this game, it is true.
This is unironically exactly how Nestle operates
I know it's actually capitalism, but since this is privatizing + monopolizing water Nestle fits too well
Shit he's right
It's Monopoly, just faster and more brutal.
the reason there was little water was because of all them sprinklers in his logging company opps i mean"prison"

I'm genuinely surprised Spiff didn't realize that having a monopoly of water automatically gives you a secondary monopoly on food, since you need water to grow plants (which are food) and both water and plants to raise livestock (which are more expensive, but equally important and necessary, food).
So what i need to make my tea, now.
Is blood. Cheaper then your prices.
From what i have seen
... I don't need to pay...if i harvest blood right... I mean blood is a liquid

Step 1 Extract the blood
Step 2 Seperate stuffs with centrifuges
Step 3 Use the seperated liquid for tea and put the solid blood back
???

@@espurrjelly you'd be stealing blood, which requires humans or animals which need water and air.
So in a round a bout way, you'd just be stealing water.
2 minutes in the video I came to my senses: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! WHERE IS YOUR TEA?!??
Paused, got my tea: There you go! Please good sir! don't forget to remind us!
I'm gonna be honest, I never get tea please spare me

He who control the water controls the tea and he who controls the tea control the world! By the world I mean Brittan.
Well, the British Empire pretty much controlled the world for a long time by having the most badass navy. So, Britain controlled the water and the tea.

@@John_Smith. To be honest tho, having a merc army from all over the world twice the size of what amounts to a bunch of islanders with a handful of colonies isn't that great of an achievement, in fact I'd say that it's rather underwhelming. To be honest, ANY monopoly in a rare resources map is almost always a winning strategy. Except carbon, unless you also patent carbon scrubbing. Outside of rare resource maps it's almost impossible to monopolise anything until late game specialization begins.
so....youre Nestle now? lol, monopolizing water, i love it
And here we see a rare youtuber who accidently discovers the completly normal effects of marked elasticity of demand. Congrats!
Spiffing brit makes a monopoly on tea supplies. To the absolute surprise of no one.
It's nice to see him play a game the right way for once.
That's actually a valid strategy in terms of games where there is little water supply.
...which is saying something as spiff clearly can't play this game :P
This is still one of those games where you sit for a few minutes in the title menu just to listen to the soundtrack..

Just got into Offworld Trading Company and it is a *really* good game if you are into capitalism and competition.
This video actually made me download the game... I had it sitting in my library for quite some time, but always thought "nah"
I was drinking a cup of apple cider, and this video turned it into black tea. Clearly this is what the alchemists of old meant by turning lead into gold.
This video brought to you by the Nestle Company
Nestlé had the same idea as you! If they'd control all the water resources in Africa everyone would have to buy from them!
(Or die of thirst, but who wants to die of thirst?)
Replace "water" with "air" and you become the villain from Total Recall
Damn it Cohagen! Give these people eaa!
i like how spiff narating in the start of video, a singular green apple while the apple on the video was red
he said “sir” even though he was talking to a woman
Only thing that's better than having monopoly on water is having monopoly on water when you're a robot.

I've never seen someone play a game so wrong and yet so right at the same time.
After watching this vid I bought Offworld Trading Company and my opponents proceeded to destroy themselves with $300 food/water costs. Thanks Spiffing Brit!
I just wish the game didn’t have like 15 DLCs. Feel like they just released the game early and sold the finished product in bite size chunks.
You had all the water, food, and the fuel to make tea.
POV: You're here because the game is free on Epic Games!
YOOOOOOOO
Everyone wants tea bit where's the water?
The Spiffing Brit: $$$$$$
That's certainly an interesting early Spiff artwork.
All other commpanies: "running away and screaming the british are comming".
If a man with a fabulous mustache, top hat and, monocle told me that an apple was exactly 1000 dollars I might quite nearly believe it. Very devilish of you good sir.
"I would like to buy this *green* (red) apple please"
Nice avatar fine sir! I once controlled all charcoal ressources, yet the enemy AI was still not impressed, it seemed like they where 0 affected by it. Will try again with water.
Loved this!! Please play more of this game! (If possible)
What is the one of two crucial parts of tea?
1. Water
2. Tea leaves
So in fact you are a tea monopolist
God this series is awesome. Keep up your great job!
Took me two solid focus watch throughs to realize that apple isn't green.
How did you get a monopoly on water when the other players clearly bought water tiles near your 3-deposit?
Those other 3 water spots were pretty bad spots. That can't sustain 3 players/NPCs really.
They got water, but it was barely enough to give to their people, and then they didnt havev enough to make their own fuel.
You've gone and turned Mars into Arrakis. Watch out for angry Fremen!
"I have monopoly over water"
Goes to show enemy AI having a water pump ... Seems legit.
From what I’ve seen in other replies, that’s not enough to survive
This kind of reminds me of a game called MULE that I played way back on the NES. I'm guessing it was an inspiration given the one thing you can buy on the black market.
11:49. Actually no, this is EXACTLY what the game is supposed to be like.
Congrats, you figured out how to become Space Nestlé.
"Buy out all the water"
Nestlé wants to know your location.
Weirdly want to see more of this corporate espionage.
I sit here, at the end of my cuppa, thinking: yes. I will consider subscribing you spiffing wacko.
Looking back at the game, it's absurd just how lucky the setup was. We have:
1. Little enough water for a water monopoly to work
2. No ice (even dry ice would have helped by providing oxygen)
3. Nobody chose Robotic
4. No Mutiny, Pirates, or Underground Nuke
Offworld Trading Company is actually balanced and the AI is good by AI standards.
I had to drink my tea black for this one because someone bought the monopoly on milk
Every time I spawn a map, there is quite a bit of water, gotta check the version
Water monopoly, the oldest ever ruling system! Still going strong some 40 000 years later!
