4:55 that's called a Hurdy Gurdy and is a european instrument from the medieval ages :)
Its peculiar direct predecessor was called an organistrum and was played by two people with one turning the wheel mechanism and the second pulling on the keys. That must have required a lot of synchronization.

This is in my opinion the best folk metal band in the world! Their last album "Ategnatos" is more metal without losing their folk sound at all. Fabienne Erni is in my top three female vocalist together with Floor Jansen and Simone Simons. I simply love this band to the moon and back! They are my absolute favourite band together with Epica of course!!! Hope you guys check out more Eluveitie and Epica as well!! 🤘
the hurdy gurdy player Michalina has a youtube channel (heck, she started uploading Hurdy covers of Eluveitie six years ago) and now she is in the band.
She did a cover of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica a few months ago (she sings in it along with Fabienne, the other singer in Eluveitie), you all might enjoy that one

Don't know if there is a lot of demand for it, but I'd love a reaction to something off of Evocation 2: Pantheon. Either "Epona" or "LVGS" would be good choices.
The Evocation albums are the band at their folkiest (is that a word?) and are sung entirely in Gaulish, which is actually a dead Celtic language. Either way, it's just another facet of Eluveitie and really shows how versatile this band it.

I'm a big fan of this band, it's my favorite, definitely the best one I've heard so far, and I can say their top songs are: Thousandfold, Inis Mona, King, Helvetios, Tegernako, Call of the Mountains, Kingdom Come Undone, Quoth the Raven, Do(Minion), Everything Remains, Neverland, The Siege, Havoc, From Darkness, Sucellos, Inception, Nil, Deathwalker, The Slumber, Breathe and Rebirth. There are more but these are some of the best. Let's say they don't have any bad songs. They also have instrumental songs, the best are: Jêzaïg, Andro, The Cauldron Of Renascence, Carnutian Forest, Slania (Folk Medley) and Aventia. All of them are worth a try. You won't be dissapointed. If you can check their entire discography it'd be great, you won't be missing one of the greatest bands ever! Great video reaction, greetings! lml (-.-) lml

That's a hurdy gurdy and the new hurdy gurdy player in the band since Anna left is Michalina Malisz. She has her own UA-cam channel and posts hurdy gurdy metal covers and it's awesome.
Rebirth was the first song Eluveitie released since the departure of 3 or 4 longtime members (including the singer you saw in the previous song - who was also their previous hurdy gurdy player) a few years ago. Definitely check out more Eluveitie. Folk metal is so good.

I just discovered Cellar Darling with Eluvietie's former singer Anna Murphy. I must say I much prefer Cellar Darling's music. It reminds me more of 70's Prog and Anna's shredding on the Hurdy Gurdy blows my mind. Check out "Insomnia" Live. I think both bands and singers have now found the right chemistry.

As others have already said, the strange instrument is a hurdy gurdy. It is a string instrument that uses a roisined wheel instead of a bow (like a violin). The wheel rubs against the strings and therefor produces sound. By pressing the buttons you can manipulate the strings to create different sounds (like you do with your fingers on a violin or on a guitar). Michalina Malisz has her own UA-cam channel where she posts covers of other metal songs (like "Martyr" by August Burns Red: ua-cam.com/video/Mvs39ZeQjq4/v-deo.html ) and her "5Riffs" series, where she plays riffs from famous metal bands on the hurdy gurdy. She also does hurdy gurdy playthroughs of Eluveitie songs, but I would strongly advise you to avoid these playthroughs if you wanna do more Eluveitie reactions.
The "new" singer is Fabienne Erni and she also plays the Celtic harp. She is a great singer and fits so well in this band. Now that you have seen the "old" line-up and their "new" line-up with some harder songs, I think you could check out their acoustic side. Eluveitie has done two pure acoustic albums where the lyrics are all sung in Gaulish. You could try "Lugus" (the Celtic god of trade and craftmanship) with the new members from the album "Evocation 2: Pantheon" or "Omnos" with former members Anna Murphy (hurdy gurdy and vocals) and Meri Tadic (violin and vocals, she left the band in 2014) from "Evocation 1: The Arcane Dominion".
If you like to see a live performance I would suggest "Deathwalker" from Wacken 2019 (not acoustic).
