Like my last request, I love watching a Great Performance! I'm a mega music fan!
(I promise, my next request will have lyrics!) I knew you'd love this!
Well worth waiting for!
Great choice Morris!
Phenomenal choice Morris. You my friend are a true Trash Talker. Again we can't stress it enough on how much we appreciate all your love and support brother.
@@Hollywood6IX You guys are worth it! I watch everything!
(Still, need to catch up a bit on the Podcasts, but I watch every reaction video!)
@@Hollywood6IX … please continue checking him out, definitely one of the goats.. ANYTHING from this concert, ‘El Macambo’ is the best choice for y’all’s next SRV video… ‘Texas Flood’ or ‘Lenny’ would be a great start..:)
Good suggestion. And yes. When he sings you’re like…really?! He’s got that voice too. Amazing.
Little Wing was originally done by Jimi Hendrix but Stevie Ray Vaughan perfected it and made it his own.
R.I.P. Stevie will always be the GOAT.
Clapton and Jimmy Page agreed.
"He IS the music right now" - truer words have never been spoken regarding SRV. He didn't play music, he was music. He received it from somewhere in the heavens and it came out of him like it was meant to be.
Eric Clapton has told a story about watching Stevie before he died, after he had sobered up, where Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Jimmy (Stevie’s brother who is also a good guitarist), and others were just standing on the side of the stage with their jaws dropped. He truly was a guitar god
...nobody ever wanted to follow SRV...not even Clapton...SRV is legend, blues were in his blood, no one could do it better....RIP SRV
I’m a fan of his brother as well. The Fabulous Thunderbirds are up there on my list
He was speaking of the last performance at Alpine Valley theater, the encode they all played together. Afterwards Clapton was asked for an interview and gave SRV his seat on the helicopter and Stevie was happy to accept as he wanted to get back to Chicago to meet up with his girlfriend. That helicopter crashed soon after takeoff and robbed the world of a legend...
Clapton killed SRV. They swapped tickets last minute. He jumped on the wrong copter
I was able to play with Stevie Ray a couple of times before he died. He was a incredible guitarist one of the best blues guitarist out there there is a video of him and Jeff Healy together which is insane. You really need more Stevie Ray Vaughan videos up to check out
Oh wow that must have been absolutely amazing
@@Hollywood6IX yeah it was beyond words he would just take off playing and you would stop and just watch. Many moments like that.
SRV and Healey? Holy hell!!! I cant imagine the BLUES that came out of THAT!
@@lowellupchurch1609 there is a video on UA-cam of them playing check it out
they likely jam together very day in Guitar Heaven
An absolute monster of a guitar player. The studio version of this is one of the greatest guitar recordings of all time. It's a cover of a Hendrix song, but the original has lyrics and is only about 3 minutes long, while Stevie’s is almost 7 minutes and beats the original IMHO. His career was mostly through the 80’s. He died in 1990 at age 35 in a helicopter accident after a festival in bad weather. Eric Clapton was originally supposed to be on the helicopter so....we would’ve lost a guitar legend in any case.🥴
should have been clapton.
Clapton fucking blows
@@jonporter1233 Should've been nobody.
@@Sometimes-even-lyrical Exactly.
He was 35.
It's always been my opinion that Stevie could just hold one note, let it ring and it would have so much emotion behind it that it could bring a tear to your eye. God, I miss this guy!
This ENTIRE CONCERT (Live at the El Mocambo) is the stuff of legend. Texas Flood, Lenny, Voodoo Child, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Love Struck Baby, Testify - ALL OF IT
A must for any music lover.
one of, if not the, greatest recorded concerts of all time.
SRV was blues reincarnate. Emotion flowed through his fingers. ‘Texas Flood’ or Hendrix’s ‘Voodoo Child’ are suggested (required) listening. He was fire live!
Agree. Texas flood from the el mocambo show is one of the greatest performances ever!
The song Little Wing was originally written and performed by Jimi Hendrix in the 60s. SRV idolized Jimi and did everything he could to honor Jimi when he played his music. The other song of Jimi's that SRV used to play and sing to was Voodoo Chile. I'm 70 years old and have seen them both play live. I don't don't compare them because they both played at different times when what was available to play with were different. But, both had a profound impact on me with their music. I am just happy and blessed to have lived during a time that produced some of the greatest music of all time and just wait for that day I get to go and watch the great gig in the sky...
Stevie Ray Vaughan (1954-1990) first album was released in 1982 and his final recording was released in 1989. His life was taken when he died in a helicopter accident. So, SRV was an 80s artist totally
It looks like it's from 82 Live at the El Macambo
@@wc1994 84
Nobody is better than SRV! It’s all about the feeling you get when you watch him play. We miss you Stevie!!!! RIP😢
Eric Clapton supposedly once said that SRV was the only guitarist he never wanted to follow after on stage. SRV was the show ender! Absolute Legend.
Stevie's premier live performance is "Texas Flood" live at El Mocambo.
SRV played straight from the soul to his guitar. No man can think that. His soul did it all.
The G.O.A.T.! He won an Grammy for the studio version of the Jimmy Hendrix songs.
"pride and joy" and "life by the drop" are some of my favs by Stevie ray Vaughan
Life By The Drop is my absolute favorite Stevie song!
And Life without you, love that one.
Look up his performance of Texas flood at the celebration of blues. He broke the strings mid performance, switched guitars and kept going. This man was a God of guitars and music...#RIP
Also check out: Riviera Paradise, look at little sister with Jeff Healey, Texas Flood live at the El Macambo, Look at little sister - Austin city limits (smoothest guitar change you'll EVER see), his session with Albert king....there's so many good ones.
I was lucky enough to see him play in Birmingham, 1986. Total mastery.
If you look at his face expressions the music flows through his whole body like electricity this man is one of the greatest guitarist in music history I truly miss him he was taken too soon from us.
This is absolute mastery of an instrument. Musicians will tell you that they never quit learning, and I'm sure there was one or two things left that SRV didn't know, but I couldn't name them.
Most talented musician that ever lived
This man took playing a guitar to some other place. Check out SRV and Johnny Copeland at Montreux performing Tin Pan Alley or Texas Flood live at the El Macambo. You can't go wrong . Or if you're feeling alittle whimsical check out Mary Had A Little Lamb live at the El Macambo. He was with us only 35 years but what an impact he made. Legend isn't a strong enough word to describe what he left all of us.....Absolute magic played with passion effortlessly. May he rest in peace.🎵🎼🎶🎸
SRV was some rock, he loved Hendrix but he's known as THE Texas Blues man. So many great songs. Do his own " Life without You" live at the Capitol Theatre. You will see how truly talented he was. RIP SRV.
One of my favorite guitarist ever. The man was afraid of helicopters (flying) and the very first time he gets on one, it kills him...
Legend!
The one and only Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan. G.O.A.T.
Anything by this man is GENIUS.
I've often thought, how is it that guitar never just burst into flames in his hands ? The way that man spun his soul into sound was natural born. Little Wing is so special to me, I hope it will fly me home when it's time. Jimi wrote and composed this magical tune that I first heard in 1968 at the age of 14. It was love at first listen, I was already a Hendrix fanatic. Stevie Ray does this incredible tune more than justice, and I fell in love once again. Anything SRV does is golden. He's a force of nature, a tornado,,an electric storm. Whatever planet he's from, he was born to make a guitar talk, sing, scream and cry. And a voice for the Blues, silk over sandpaper. Wish he'd been here with us all these years. RIP SRV, 🎸👽💔💙. ☮️to all.
Now you’ve watched this, you need to watch him do the song “Texas flood” live His playing is insane during that
Live at the El Mocambo
ua-cam.com/video/KC5H9P4F5Uk/v-deo.html
The great Tommy Shannon is on bass. Before Stevie, he played with another Texas guitar genius, Johnny Winter , who is worth reacting to as well!
Johnny, another great blues man!
Watching Stevie play makes me want to cry every time. Just so beautiful.
Stevie Ray Vaughan "Texas Flood" Live At The El Mocambo..AN ABSOLUTE MUST SEE/HEAR PERFORMANCE!!
This was Stevie performing in 1983 at age 29 and what he was wearing was partially inspired by Jimi Hendrix of course. The eighties was Stevie's decade where he rose to global fame as an other worldly musician who played with more passion and commitment than anyone else. His body of work that he left behind should be mandatory listening for those people who love guitar. I promise he will blow your mind🎸🎶‼️ sadly he left us on August 27, 1990 just a few months shy of his 36th birthday. He did Jimi proud with his covering of his songs but he composed his own songs and everything he did do was simply stellar✨⭐️🌟. More Stevie Ray please🙏✌️
SRV is my favorite guitarist of all time. Hands down. I vividly remember the day I heard he passed and it ripped my soul out. He played with a passion like no other. RIP sweet Stevie 💔💔💔
There's a video of him playing live when one of his strings break and he doesn't skip a beat. There's also one where he plays half of one of his songs behind his back. This man is a LEGEND.
Huge SRV fan here... We lost Stevie Ray at the tender age of 35yrs.old he was killed in a helicopter crash leaving a venue in Wisconsin on Aug. 27 1990 we only had him a short while shortly after he had just started to become famous, which was some where around 7 to 10 yrs when he tragically died. Who knows just how much glorious music we were cheated out of hearing 😞 the live performance I'd suggest is " Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood (Live at the El Mocambo)" prepare to have your 🤯 mind blown. Stevie Ray never performed any two concerts the same. A true "Texas Bluesman" there will never be another SRV RIP: U R MISSED 💔 🔥🎸✌🏼
Stevie always hit that zone,, played the music that came from his heart,, he didnt need to think about what he was doing or where he was on the neck,, he just played,,, and it was all improvised, all made up on the spot,, he had more tools in his guitar toolbox than most other players would even dream about,, lot of great technical guitarists out there, but to improvise like Stevie is unique and precious,,
RIP SRV... As long as reactors keep discovering, you'll never die!!! Great reaction gentlemen! As the infamous BTO song say's, "You ain't seen nothing yet"! Trust me, que up same venue and show, "Texas Flood" will completely blow your hair back!!!!!! Nuff said.....
Texas Flood from this same concert is the best guitar performance of all time IMO. Love for you guys to see it.
Check out Stevie's live version of Texas Flood. Your mind will be completely blown forever
SRV kills this version! It's a shame Jimi Hendrix music is being suppressed so much on the internet. Would love to see Hendrix songs reacted to.
Man what I wouldn’t give for a decent “If 6 Was 9” video on UA-cam! 😩
@@ShanLH5 Seriously, so many great songs that influence so many great artists over the years. His suppression is on a level of conspiratorial at this point. I wouldn't know why, but I just feel that for some reason.
@@mattiefee It's Hendrix's family! They have a tight grip over his music rights!
@@morrisgautreau6704 yes their family is definitely holding a tight grip on it, but there are some more conspiratorial sides to it. Many different researchers, journalists, authors, have written on this topic. One specific one is an excerpt from the book "the covert war against Rock" by Alex Constantine. There is a dedicated chapter to Jimi Hendrix and the mysteries surrounding his death. This book also covers many other well-known deceased artists and the odd ways many of them perished.
@@mattiefee Sounds like a good read! I subscribe to the idea music can and does heal people! It's one of the most beautiful gifts to humanity! Music is to be shared anyways and it should never be hoarded over! Maybe someday they'll see the errors of their ways and let it free!
Texas Flood from this same show will blow your minds!!! Guaranteed!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME.... PERIOD!
This was actually in 1983. Check out Texas Flood, that performance will blow your fking mind.
It was sad how we lost such a great musician like SRV, like Ramirez said, the man was the music when he played
He has a way of linking all his riffs in such an amazing flowing style that other guitar gods were blown away by. Wait until you see him do solos behind his back 😂. He truly was a master of his art.
One of the best guitarists of all-time. Especially blues
Read this in a Stevie biography:
Hendrix taught the guitar to sing.
Clapton taught the guitar to cry.
Stevie taught the guitar to scream.
I saw Stevie at several shows all over the east coast, they were never the same, he played his songs differently every time. Some were balls to the wall, others were really mellow blues. His Austin City Limits concert was incredible, as was the entire show you pulled that clip from. Just an incredible lead for a group. We got SO wasted the night he died, we were all devastated when it came across the radio at work.
I was privileged to see SRV several times, in Austin & Corpus Christi. His hero was Hendrix. A mutual friend from Dallas described him as an “idiot savant.” “The boy was none too bright, but he was an F’ing genius on the guitar.” RIP Stevie Ray 😢💔
Great reaction gents. This is an amazing Jimi hendrix song. It would be worth doing a reaction to that also as it has lyrics and sounds beautiful when Jimi does it. SRV was a massive Jimi fan and covers quite a few of his songs.
I cannot tell you guys how excited I was to see y'all did a SRV video! I grew up listening to this legend. My dad had him playing at least once a week. I even did a book report in him in high school. He's another artist we lost too soon but is kept alive through his music. I could honestly recommend a few songs of his that I think y'all would dig.
"Cold shot" "Life without you" "Change it" "Tin pan alley" "Pride and joy" "Life by the drop"
Those are my top favorites and look forward to seeing if y'all choose to react to any of them.
I love you just knowing what you shared. It’s a big, F’ing deal for me. His music is so inspiring. “Life by the Drop” makes me teary
@@shelleysparks210 YES! It's always been one of my favorites. I've actually been listening to SRV a bit here lately. The anniversary of my dad's passing is right around the corner so my "Dad mix" will be played for awhile, I'm sure.
@@horrorqueen-ze9tm I’m so very grateful for people like yourself. TY for appreciating what a true treasure that he was. I’m grateful that I have memories of his live performances. The friends I dragged along were amazed & appreciative.
@@shelleysparks210 Thank you very much for your kind words. I have always made it an unspoken life mission to introduce new people to the gloriousness that is SRV. I have often wondered where he would be in his career had he not tragically passed. However, though he was at the peak of his fame, I feel as though many wouldn't appreciate his artistry the way we as fans all do now.
@@horrorqueen-ze9tm He was less than a month older than me & I have family in the
D/FW area. It’s like going to church as a kid almost. I still totally relate to & appreciate his music. I want my grandsons (& daughters) to love & appreciate him too.💗🙏🏻
He was so in tune to his sound and the bending of the strings. He played with 12 and 13 gauge strings which are the thickest and heaviest. No one else used strings that thick. He bent them with big super strong hands. Super glued his finger tips back on when he ripped them off. Please do more SRV!!
And he was only about 5-6 and maybe 130 lbs.
Eric Clapton was privileged enough to play Number One after SRV died, and he said it took a lot of effort to bend the strings. SRV must have had forearms like rebar.
There will never be a better version of this song, ever.
100%. 1980s. SRV was just plain & simple one of the best. End of story.
Truly one of the greatest all around, technical guitarists of all time!! He had such stamina and endurance to play with his whole being for a prolonged period of time! I sure it was years of practice, learning from other greats that he aspired to be like or even better than, but how on earth could he play like that for such a long duration? I heard that if the callouses fell off his fingers he would super glue them back on. Could be unfounded rumor, but whatever it was he was incredible. John Mayer said some guitarists can play an incredible riff for like 20 seconds or so before their fingers go numb or their arms are like putty, but he was different in that way. Many of the greats, who SRV was privileged to play with (and many of them felt the same way about him) count him among the greatest! I truly love the generosity I see among so many of the greatest blues guitarists in the world, they alway looked thrilled to be playing together. I enjoy the live collaborations and the pure joy on faces that knew, this moment in time will never, ever happen again. I wish I could have seen many of them in person, but man, I do feel blessed that we have many videos, and TV collaborations available to watch. All live performances: Voodoo child/chile (he's wearing the black hat and black leather vest) ,Texas Flood live from The El Mocambo, Pride and Joy live at Montreau 1982, Love Struck Baby/Rude Mood live 3/25/87, Leave My Girl Alone live from Austin Tx,.....well look, you just need to watch all the live ones, but the ones I mentioned are the most popular for those particular songs. There is stuff out there playing with the greats too, you will fall out of your seats watching Look at Little Sister w/Jeff Healey live.
Guys..PLEASE react to more Stevie Ray!! There's a video of Stevie, Prince and others playing together..Trash Talkers can help me out w who else in it💜
Stevie is also a beast vocalist. Life without you is a great one for that
You know Stevie Ray Vaughan can do so many things with that guitar, he started playing at the age of 7 and he played behind his head, broken string, switched guitar in the middle of a solo and never missed a beat, one handed, no hands like you seen him move the guitar up and down making a beautiful sound, tune his guitar while playing, adjust his AMP'S while playing,, his teeth, backwards, his elbow and play behind his back longer than anyone ever did or ever will. His career was only span 7 years from the release of his album Texas Flood in 1983 until his death August 27, 1990 in a helicopter crash in East Troy Wisconsin. In only 7 years he in the Austin Music Hall Of Fame, Blues Hall Of Fame, he won 6 Grammys, 10 Austin Music Awards, 5 W.C.Handy Awards, Entertainer Of The Year, Instermental Of The Year and he is in The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame since 2015. You talk about Guitar God's and other list and I hate that Stevie Ray is never #1 he is always # 7 or 8 and one hisbhe was even in the top 10. I always say show me a guitarist that can do all the things that Stevie Ray could do and I'll agree and no one has ever been able too. Not to say Jimi Hendrix wasn't great on the guitar but even he couldn't do it and he's always #1 it makes no sense. Stevie Ray never used a play list he said because he couldn't read music he played from the heart so basses Tommy Shannon and drummer Chris Layton never knew what or how he was going to play and still never messed up one note because Stevie Ray said he didn't know until he got on stage. Sorry my comment was so long but when it comes to the master of guitar I get a little carried away. Stevie Ray Vaughan will always be the GOAT ( IMO)
Totally agree...always the GOAT!
Stevie is definitely in consideration any time greatest of all time is debated. You must do Riviera Paradise my personal favorite SRV song. Tin Pan Alley is also a must. Myself and two friends were listening to it once on a road trip and I swear it lasted for an hour...if you know what I mean 😁.
The man could play rythym and lead at the same time. I've watched his videos many time and still can't tell how he did it. When he was in the throes of addiction his morning pick me up was a coffee cup full of Johnny Walker Red with two heaping teaspoons of cocaine dissolved in it - per Behind the Music on VH1. The rythym section known as Double Trouble has performed annually doing the same duty for the Jimi Hendrix tribute tour that performs every year.
Stevie has such great transitions. He literally can switch it up and make it tasteful
This is a great authentic reaction.
It seems a lot of people react to Stevie because it gets views but you guys really understood and appreciated what you just saw and it shows.
You will be floored by his live version of Texas Flood live at El Mocambo!!
He sings. Pride and joy. Tightrope.
His performance of Texas flood from this same concert is the greatest guitar performance ever filmed in my opinion so check out Texas flood live from the el Macambo
Stevie Ray Vaughan is the GOAT and his guitars often needed a cigarette after he was done with it.
Guys....please, please, PLEASE do more Stevie Ray Vaughan videos. There are so many incredible performances! ❤️✌🏻
SRV remained my late dad’s absolute favorite musician ever! Our last name is Vaughn (different spelling) but I grew up with SRV and I want to thank you guys for that awesome trip down memory lane approaching what would be my dad’s 65th birthday.
SRV's one of the few guys from that era I can still keep in my rotation.
His older brother, Jimmy (Fabulous Thunderbirds) is an accomplished guitarist in his own right, but the music and feelings came out of Stevie naturally. Jimmy took music theory classes which Stevie skipped and did his own thing and developed his own style without being boxed in by "theory".
Sry, I wasn't trying to repeat your comment when I made mine. I suppose I should have looked through comments before I spouted my thumbs off like I did! 😂
Regardless, these 2 are,/were phenomenal guitarists!
@@jangles1839 no, no worries! Comment away, we are all big fans of that Vaughan Family talent!
It never gets old watching musicians react to this video!RIP SRV!
"Stevie was an endless, open channel that music just poured out of. He made people who'd never touched a guitar in their life want to pick one up and start playing, and he made those of us who'd played with him live onstage before want to quit"......................Eric Clapton.
I am so fortunate to have seen him live. He was magic.
At 61 years old....been listening to Stevie most of my life...i still get goose bumbs....you dont hear stevie ray you feel him in your soul
Great reaction! SRV is my guitar GOAT. Texas Flood, live at the El Mocambo, Life Without You, live at the Capital Theater are two reactions that I would love to see you guys do. Talk about guitar magic, these are both magical performances.
Greatest guitarist of All Time, blues or otherwise.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was from the 70's and he had an amazing blues voice, all the Blues greats B.B. King, Buddy Guy and most of all Albrrt King who was Stevie Ray's godfather love Stevie Ray. Stevie Ray played 13 gage strings and people couldn't believe that he would even break those.
So many great pieces to listen to from SRV. Go down the rabbit hole and prepare to be amazed each and everytime!
That's the greatest guitar player that ever lived. period
I used to live in East Troy, Wisconsin, which is where Alpine Music Theater is located. It’s a wonderful outdoor amphitheater, just a beautiful spot on earth to enjoy live music. It was at Alpine that Stevie Ray’s helicopter crashed after his performance. I used to walk to the theater and just sit on the lawn, looking down at the stage, to just think and meditate. Of course SRV was with me every time. Legendary guitarist.
Stevie is your favorite guitarist’s favorite guitarist. There are many out there that are amazingly technical and impressive but nobody bleeds his souls on a strat like SRV.
You guys need to do Texas flood live and be prepared to fall out your chair.
SRV was a gift. I wonder if he ever asked himself, "Why me?"
You'd know Texas Flood or Mary Had A Little Lamb. Both fire songs. Another amazing musician who died young, sure he was in his early 30's when he passed in a helicopter crash. RIP
SFRV He played what he felt in his soul…he had talent in the sweat that dripped from him
🤘
Ok so I'm 73 years old and I have to say when it comes to strings on a stick SRV is at the top of my play list . We lost a great one when he passed away.
SRV was on a whole other level. Musical genius...gone way too soon. RIP Stevie
He always gives me Goosebumps.
Mad respect for Stevie! My mom loves SRV so I grew up knowing him and listening to him but it’s been awhile. Great suggestion, Morris!
SRV was 36 when he passed. RIP Stevie ❤️
Look up "srv breaks string" and see how smooth he is. He also did a cover of Voodoo Child which is incredible.
This is actually a Jimi Hendrix song, played as an instrumental. If you look closely, the tremolo bar and bridge on this guitar is actually left handed...it's the mirror image of Hendrix playing left handed on a right handed guitar.
I'm sure everyone has already suggested but you guys gotta check out these live!
And I'm pretty sure this is the 80s
- Texas flood
- voodoo child.
A great "feel" song br SRV is Life By The Drop. If you want to hear Stevie sing and play about himself and his struggle and his world...that's the one.
B.B.King quote " I play soul music in sentences but Stevie brings it in paragraphs!" And yes he can sing !
Stevie might be one of my all time favorites right after Jimi Hendrix the thing I feel that Stevie is better at is dynamics, emotion and is a monster on those 12-13 gauge strings. Some of my favorite songs from SRV is Life Without You, Lenny, Riviera Paradise and Say What and his version of Voodoo Child (Slight Return). Glad you guys checked him out!
This man was one of the best I ever saw.
Him and Johnny Winter.
Now both are gone. So blessed to have seen them both.
SRV:
Texas Flood. Live at El Macambo.
You would be a fool to not watch this.
Ever seen Roy Clark ? . . . . .
It's the subtle details that distinguish the greatest .
This , Stevie displayed .
Stevie didn't "play" guitar, he POSSESSED it.
It’s Steve Ray Vaughn, and Double Trouble! Vaughn is the 80’s, and late 70’s.
SRV is saving me a seat in the smoking section for when it's my turn to depart this world.
