I kinda like the avalanche ending. It's like Woody said. Nature dictates that the strongest species survive. The only reason the apes survived the avalanche and the humans didn't was that they were naturally stronger and better at climbing. It's symbolic of a lot of things.
Avalanche was stupid, impossibly big, and logically an avalanche building to that size would have been triggered by the wall's construction, or the opening volleys of tank shells.

Exactly. Apes only have a chance to win the war thanks to a new mutation in the virus (potential throwback to the original). Even then, why would the virus develop in such a way...? I'm glad this series is seemingly over, because after the first movie, they appeared to lose their way, in terms of storytelling and quite frankly, warfare realism. I don't need them to be 100% accurate to what war looks like, but when an ape can ride around on the only horse in site, with two (literal) machine guns, firing wildly and hitting numerous targets he's not even aiming at, all the while, not being hit by a single round.... I gotta say... "What?". Cool 360 camera shot, though. The first movie had a horrendous battle at the end, but at least the story was compelling. I can't really say that for the two that followed.

Lol yeah but It's like saying "TECHNICALLY they're cartridges, not bullets!" doesn't matter. Fucking no one calls them bolts. Even guys I know who are mad into it and crossbow hunt on the regular just call them arrows or rounds.
I felt like that sniper soldier was underdeveloped. He was spared and they kept showing him throughout the movie feeling torn and conflicted. I feel like he should've like looked at Caesar at the end and chose to not shoot him and Caesar nod to him, and maybe the soldier by Donkey do it and maybe sniper get caught in the crossfire but it would've made him more relatable and likeable by the audience and would've caused extra emotional pull. Then we'll have teo humans to emphasize with, not just Nova. It gives the movie more dimensions.
There was no obligation for him to be "relatable" or "likable" When you have doubts about something, you sometimes change your mind and sometimes you don't. That traitor ape did, the soldier didn't. It would be kind of cheesy if he did. Kindness _doesn't_ change everything.
A horse that size could probably hold around 220 pounds at most. I would imagine that Luca is about 300 pounds so that horse will probably get "sway back" or in other words the horses back will make a u shape. This happens when there is to much weight on the horses back or when the horse gets a disease that will cause it when is born
I know this comment is 2 years old but my god that sounds cruel AF. Just watching those CGI horses carrying 500lbs of CGI ape in this movie was bad enough, imagine seeing it in real life. *shudder*
Those horses could certainly support the individual masses of Maurice, Rocket and Caesar. I highly doubt one horse could support a male mountain gorilla's sheer mass, let alone both Luca and Rocket combined.

Isn't that avalanche just a logical consequence to these big explosions in a mountain covered with snow? It doesn't serve a clear purpose, sure, but it makes total sense to me.
How is NO ONE pointing out that in DAWN, caesar got shot by an AK, fell a hundred feet out of a tree, stayed there overnight, and STILL survived, but here, he's killed by a few inches of flint and wood in his side?!
Not necessarily. Depending on how he fell, and how serious the gunshot was. If it missed vitals, your platelets can clot your wound, so it seals itself. Not saying it is likely, but it definitely can happen.
I'm just going to give Andy Serkis an Oscar myself for the work he has done as Caesar.....and Gollum.....hell, even Baloo in the new Mowgli movie. This man is a GENIUS when it comes to doing characters. They create these characters digitally and he gives them a SOUL and a HEART and he makes them real.

It was similar to how he escaped the animal facility in Rise. Lots of similar moments. Remember when Ceasar killed Draco Malfoy by accident. That shit hit a nerve in him which is why he was against killing. So now he finds himself in the same position with Woody Harrelson's character and he decides not to kill him. I think it was a beautiful poetic story for this amazing trilogy. Lots of other things you can take from both movies, but that prison escape was just a way to rhyme in character arcs. He's no longer trying to escape his own people to free himself, he's trying to free his people to escape his mistakes... or uggggh in this case his apes.
its was suposed to be symbolic to Ceaser freeing his people like Moses freeing the people and the snow avalanche was the splitting of a sea and when the humans got there they got destroyed by the snow just like the water
Give your Enemies a choice between surrender and death. If they refuse your initial offer, but try to surrender later on, kill them. Your other Enemies will be a lot more eager to Surrender right away, thus saving lives. Another example would be responding to an attack with devestating Violence. If an answer to aggression is utter destruction, would-be attackers may behave a lot more civil.
I thought it was genius how Matt Reeves was able to tell his own story, while also connecting it to the original Charlton Heston movie and Andy Serkis really made Caesar was the most likeable, badass characters in sci-fi cinema history!

Dawn was basically a re-imagining of The Warriors. Re-watch the "They shot Cyrus, it was the Warriors" scene when Koba shoots Caesar. I laughed so hard in the cinema that my sister hit me.
2:27 That's sand not dirt. They made it clear that they found a Desert. 2:56 Caesar didn't scream "bloody murder" here because he didn't want to alert the men with guns. He instantly made the best decision by deciding to take out the introduces silently, minimizing collateral damage of men with machine guns trying to fight their way out of the ape colony they'd infiltrated. Caesar probably saved dozens of lives with that split second decision. 3:05 Easily accessible? This place is like in the side of a mountain that you'd have to climb to get to. Caesar lives in a Jungle. I can't think of a safer place than an elevated location that requires climbing to get to. Even a cave is a bad idea because you can be smoked out. 3:30 The guy is shooting with one arm because he needs the other arm to hold on to the rope that will pull him to safety. You try firing a fully automatic rifle with one arm at a moving target and tell me how that goes. 5:24 They rescued her clearly. She was definitely going to die on her own. 7:58 I've seen about half the movies you listed and they were not like this movie. They have some vague similarities but this is a slave camp about a slave revolt. A successful slave revolt that doesn't end with all the slaves being murdered. That is VERY rare. I'd even go so far as to sin you for trying to make this lazy comparison. 8:09 Yea she did say that. She was clearly trying to lift the boulder as she made those grunting noises. She was communicating, and the apes, who live in a culture built almost entirely on non-verbal communication, would know what she is trying to communicate. Even if it doesn't translate completely into sign language, the subtitles are relaying what she is communicating successfully to the apes. This is as far as I got before just stopping to enjoy the rest of the video. Excellent work as always Cinema Sins.
They killed her father or whoever that person was that was taking care of her. They didn't rescue shit. And she showed more emotion when the fucking gorilla died than when her father died.
We have no reason to believe he was her father. Who he was was a man about to shoot apes without provocation. In fact if Caesar hadn't jumped in when he did one of those apes would have died. Caesar shot literally at the last second. We have no idea what that man's relationship was to her. He could have been a pedophile for all we know. What he was was a man with a gun about to shoot to kill.
If you had told me that this would be the bookend to one of the BEST FILM TRILOGIES OF THE PAST 25 YEARS, I wouldn't have believed you. This trilogy is a masterpiece in subverting my expectations and overall it's just incredible. Looking forward to the fourth one to tie in both series.
Sin 83. There were meant to be over 2,000 Apes. In those Cages it looked like quite a few hundred. I doubt they would have been able to easily move all of them to safety while moving in single file.
Worse than a Batman villain (Adam West version). Just pull the trigger and end it. And that avalanche was such nonsense. If that much snow was built up, the construction of the wall would have triggered it, or at the very least the opening volleys from the tanks. Tank shells exploding would have triggered it a lot sooner if it was that fragile (the snow pack). Or the Tanks themselves racing at breakneck speed...
I went into this movie without seeing the others, and I still understood it quite well. I thought it was incredibly well made, and the cinematography is beautiful. My one problem is the little girl, who seems like a bit of a liability. But, the relationship between her and the orangutan is nicely written.
Eh she showed the relationship they could have in the future with apes given the mutation. Also showed the apes did t lose their ability to show/have mercy and understanding for a potential enemy.

Funny you mention that. He actually has a ton of deleted scenes on the Blu-ray that expand his character arc in the exact way you're saying.
Showing humans as sympathetic goes against the message of this film. Apes good, humans bad. Period. Such a depressing view of humanity.
Colby King dang go figure lol
But the movie will get too many sub plots in its already long runtime
There was no obligation for him to be "relatable" or "likable"
When you have doubts about something, you sometimes change your mind and sometimes you don't.
That traitor ape did, the soldier didn't.
It would be kind of cheesy if he did.
Kindness _doesn't_ change everything.
Planet of The Stallions 😂
I'm pretty certain that already exists. With an R rating to boot.

You're thinking of Equis.
Hey, are you on iFunny?
A horse that size could probably hold around 220 pounds at most. I would imagine that Luca is about 300 pounds so that horse will probably get "sway back" or in other words the horses back will make a u shape. This happens when there is to much weight on the horses back or when the horse gets a disease that will cause it when is born
I know this comment is 2 years old but my god that sounds cruel AF. Just watching those CGI horses carrying 500lbs of CGI ape in this movie was bad enough, imagine seeing it in real life. *shudder*
THEORY: the virus in the movie affected horses, and made them stronger than before. It all makes sense now.
Those horses could certainly support the individual masses of Maurice, Rocket and Caesar. I highly doubt one horse could support a male mountain gorilla's sheer mass, let alone both Luca and Rocket combined.

Andy Serkis isn’t winning an Oscar in this scene
The Oscar nominations haven't been finalized yet, so it's still possible that he could. But he's at least not winning a Golden Globe, and that's worth a sin.
And neither are the animators! Or the rigging team, or the modelers, or the texture artists, or...
Wait, are there people who think THAT performance is worthy of an Oscar? More like a Razzie to me.
Paulafan5 take your trollshit in the dumpster and live there for the rest of your life. Even if you mistakenly thought Razzie was a golden globe level award, that's still mention for your ignorance.
+Paulafan5 i think the Sirkis worshipers are just receivers of his brainwashing Hollywood virtue signaling.
Yelling "reload" is actually a thing to allow for friendlies to know you can't support them for the moment and that you might need cover.
Funniest scene in this movie is when Bad Ape freaks out about how small everyone is because he's looking through the binoculars the wrong way, and Maurice's facial expression that follows.
Maybe if you’re twelve and have never seen any other movies. All of the jokes in this movie have been done thousands of times before.
@@TehRebolt Yeah, Bad Ape had purpose tho at least he wasn't just comic relief. He helped them find the base and to escape. It still annoyed me that they had to put him in for comic relief tho, he's not at all depressed that his fellow apes died..guhh.. lol

Isn't that avalanche just a logical consequence to these big explosions in a mountain covered with snow?
It doesn't serve a clear purpose, sure, but it makes total sense to me.
Clowdono illogical and convenient like the magical tunnel they escaped In
Convenient, yes, to be sure they are not followed but how is a bunch of explosions causing an avalanche illogical?
Clowdono if you are building a wall preparing for war why have a base at bottom of a mountain makes 0 sense
Having a mountain behind you is actually good strategy. This way you're sure the enemy can only come from one direction
Clowdono keep telling yourself that kid
How is NO ONE pointing out that in DAWN, caesar got shot by an AK, fell a hundred feet out of a tree, stayed there overnight, and STILL survived, but here, he's killed by a few inches of flint and wood in his side?!
Luca Guccione-Jimenez ceasers old now so less surviving chance
Sometimes it matters WHERE you get shot. You can get shot in the leg with a .308 and be fine, but take a 9mm to the heart and die.
right, but wouldn't he have bled out after at least 8 hours of lying on the forest floor after a hundred foot fall.
Not necessarily. Depending on how he fell, and how serious the gunshot was. If it missed vitals, your platelets can clot your wound, so it seals itself. Not saying it is likely, but it definitely can happen.
¡Spoilers, esse!

Great movie, but not a fan of the prison escape thing. The movie excels when it focuses on Caesar's psyche but the prison escape is pretty bland
AGREE
its was suposed to be symbolic to Ceaser freeing his people like Moses freeing the people and the snow avalanche
was the splitting of a sea and when the humans got there they got destroyed by the snow just like the water
If there's one thing I got, it's that showing mercy leads to more pain and suffering
Mercy actually is pretty unethical, actually. But without it we would be sociopaths.
How is mercy unethical?!

So..... your sister is impulsive and overly physical?
Sin to the academy for not giving andy serkis ANY recognition for any of his work
Jacob Carrion There is time, but if it does not happen soon we will start a rebellion.
The fuck
They killed her father or whoever that person was that was taking care of her. They didn't rescue shit. And she showed more emotion when the fucking gorilla died than when her father died.
We have no reason to believe he was her father. Who he was was a man about to shoot apes without provocation. In fact if Caesar hadn't jumped in when he did one of those apes would have died. Caesar shot literally at the last second. We have no idea what that man's relationship was to her. He could have been a pedophile for all we know. What he was was a man with a gun about to shoot to kill.
You guys are taking this shit too far
That's kind of the point of cinema sins.
I laughed way to hard at the "planet of the stallions trilogy" joke for breaking the horses back hahaha....

Sin 83. There were meant to be over 2,000 Apes. In those Cages it looked like quite a few hundred. I doubt they would have been able to easily move all of them to safety while moving in single file.

Saw this in the theater as Andy skris better get a Oscar nomination for best actor because he did a fantastic job playing a CG ape.
The Colonel wanted Caesar dead, but kept NOT killing him. And who builds their military base at the foot of a snow covered mountain?
Michael Cooper the filmcrew did😉
Worse than a Batman villain (Adam West version).
Batman villain, yes, or a Roger Moore era Bond villain. This script was horrible.
7:08

I went into this movie without seeing the others, and I still understood it quite well. I thought it was incredibly well made, and the cinematography is beautiful. My one problem is the little girl, who seems like a bit of a liability. But, the relationship between her and the orangutan is nicely written.
I found her unnecessary overall, but I guess Caesar needed someone to give him water.
Eh she showed the relationship they could have in the future with apes given the mutation. Also showed the apes did t lose their ability to show/have mercy and understanding for a potential enemy.
