There are a few websites which offer upto 4 stems for free - Bass, Drums, Other & Vocals. And I think for free models their quality is very good. I just wish FL could integrate a 6 stem separation model adding lead guitar and piano too which some websites do provide. Thank you Michael :)
It will be very interesting to listen how Stem Splitter works with some intensive metal tracks like Rammstein - Engel. Absolutely amazing feature for remixers.
This is impressive! Not, that there are online tools out there that can do stem separation already, but now one got the entire workflow in his DAW. I just combined the separation process with NeuralNote (which is audio to midi as open source) and it makes it way way easier to recreate or remix a track.
As a fairly recent user of FL Studio, I didn't expect much in terms of lifetime updates but damn, this is quite substantial. Thats a tool I'd have expected to pay big bucks for.
I'm not one that likes to test beta releases, so I will wait till it comes out. I already own a great separator, Demix Pro. It also leaves some artifacts, however if I continue to separate stems, the artifacts are reduced and then I use the Fruity limiter and does a decent job of removing the artifacts. I will also use the mod X on the sample properties and remove some of the high frequencies until I satisfied with the stem. It takes some work, but so does all work done in Fl Studio. There's no one-click solution. Aside from that, another outstanding video from the master. Thanks Michael. You're the best as usual.
Dude, this update has been mind-blowing They gave us so many wonderful features in such a nice package It'll be amazing to see what people will get up to in the hands of someone truly capable The future is here and it's exciting
This will be pretty awesome to play with. But, on a related note, I've wanted to ask someone: being that you can actually play instruments well, do you ever actually use loops/samples yourself? And if so, in what context? My music theory knowledge isn't great, but I rarely ever use anything besides one-shots from the loop bundles I've got. It's a "if I didnt come up with these parts of the song, is it really my song?" kind of feeling.
I was really hoping you'd use it on something with screaming vocals, because that seems to be what these things struggle with, in my very narrow and limited experience using them. Using these splitters on metal has always been one of my tests. Ultimate Vocal Remover 5 so far has done the best for me in that situation.
Wow I watched this earlier and I was like ok its a kool feature but then this morning I am working on an old song that I only have a stereo track of it, was starting to rebuild the whole track and realized wait a minute this new stem extraction is freaking awesome, I will now be able to take out my horrible vocals from waay back and fix 4 of my old songs that I only have cd quality stereo tracks of. Sooo glad I got into FLStudio !!!!
Welllll...this existed in hiphop it was called "Multing". Basically, you track the sample(s) used to multiple tracks and then on each track, using EQ, you carve out each instrument/drum/vocal so that you could have control over the levels and more. Lots of 90s hiphop hits were done this way. There, you had the option to bring back some of the frequencies for "seasoning" though.
This is how AI should be used. To do good and making remixing easier :D Will do you a video about the mastering AI as well, or its not yet available to try? curious how that one works.
I'm not a fan of IL update strategy but I think this feature is a good decision. Extraction does the job fairly well, given the circumstances. Tested on 3 songs with traditional instruments (guitars, drums, bass, vocals, little fx) and stems were clean and isolated. Each stem was named accordingly, which I find very sweet. Of course, the results with electronic music is not going to be that good, but that's not IL fault.
For the record, Tracktion Waveform (£) also includes stem-splitting. I don't have FL Studio so can't compare quality-wise, but the workflow is similar.

FL is just missing the sample modulation options like ableton (like the warp mode, and easiness to use), but besides that they are the best!! Great video as always
Great video. A quick side question... I see you use the DT 1990 pro here, but earlier it seemed that you switched to use the VSX. I'm very curious, because I'm just about to decide between the two to buy one. Can I ask which one would you recommend for mostly orchestral film score mixing? Thanks in advance :)
Do you know how many hours I've spent EQing, dynamic compressing, and baning my head againts a wall because I just can't clean up vocal.......... I can't describe how happy I am for this feature. It's hard to say which daw is the best but image line is trying their best to make it FL
One of the ways I used the stem splitting features (on sketchy websites) is to remove bleed in my vocal mics. If i had drum bleed or piano bleed, i find it doesnt take away a lot from the vocals because the bleed is minimal anyway.
To be honest, FL Studio is FINALLY stepping up their game and I couldn't be happier with it. If they'll step up the "user-friendliness" with sampling and exporting the samples or saving them on the go, FL will truly be unmatched right now.
I've never found a stem splitter that didn't leave severe artifacts. They still have their use, don't get me wrong. For example, I've used them to remove the vocals from a famous song and replace them with my own words, just as a joke. I did a parody of "Riders on the Storm" to amuse some friends. But I've yet to be able to get the stems clean enough for actual remixing purposes. I would love it if I could because I want to remix some music by my old band. The songs are good but we weren't good players. And this was in the days before digital recording, so everything was done to tape. This means there was no correcting timing or pitch issues. This FL Studio software seems to do an amazing job, but you're using super clean recordings with great separation already. I wonder how it would handle a rock band recorded in a room together with bleed. Seems like you need Peter Jackson-level AI technology for that.
fire review!!! As always!!! quick question; I'm purchasing FL studio at the end of this month; I'm getting the producer version Will I be able to upgrade to get the stem separation feature? Thanks.
I'm super excited about the new features, but it took me a bit to settle in with FL Studio, so I don't want to damage my fragile relationship with it by fiddling with the beta. But man, each step of the way, FL is becoming more and more of what I FL to be for me. The lock to scale thing is magical and way easier than in Studio one and Cubase. The only thing I hope to see some down the road is to have be able to have arrangements serve as subprojects in a master project like with Reaper. But I'm excited about the stem sepreations, regardless
nice video. u have a good way to talk. Do you know by any chance,, how did Peter Jackson manage to "stem out" the last ever recording of John Lennon, now and then, as I understand.. it took 20 years?.. I guess not FL studio.. but still you get goosebumps knowing this can be done even with an old tape recorder cassette. So fascination the future in music can be
U r the best. All ur videos it's amazing ❤ Thank for video👌 . But I very need to know is it important to scale the drum beat . I mean to be tuning to and match with strnings scale . Or not ?
Most people in this comment section probably never heard of Ultimate Vocal Remover 5 which is standalone (so you can use this for any DAW like Ableton, Cubase, etc too), free and open source, and has various (free) AI models integrated like for example demucs v4. It separates a whole input track into vocals, bass, drums and other stems using CPU or (very speedy) GPU conversion. Also you can freely combine any combination of AI models of your own liking, so for every stem you can try setup your own AI chain (advanced users).
Ive always been proud to say I use FL Studio since it was FL Studio 9. But I've never been more proud than now. What used to be the DAW Logic and Ableton users mocked will continue to climb up the ladder of BEST digital audio workstation available for the entire industry.
Love the vids, and will continue to watch along my journey. Got a question regarding Vocodex, is it possible to invert the filter, so that it ducks the carrier signal, making space for vocals while preserving the other frequencies that dont clash with the vocals. I believe trackspacer is fairly similar as far as its operation, but I unfortunately dont have that plugin.
I have been using Izotope's RX to isolate vocals for a remix, but it keeps a bit of instruments in the track. I hope this gives better results! I'm gonna wait for the version to be released out of beta. That noise gate trick looks super useful, by the way, I'm gonna try it!
Can't wait to be able to do this, makes it so much easier than using an ai site that only lets me use it one track per day and it sounds so much better.
Very Decent. It would be so nice though if you could map those Mute/Unmute buttons from the playlist to your midi controller instead of having to aim at them with your mouse. This should have already been updated a long time ago and I've seen people have been asking for this for a long time as well. I hope it happens soon. Cheers Michael
SpectraLayers v10 goes much further although at a cost. You get cymbals kick snare and it can also split off multiple voices or main and backing tracks. Crazy thing is Steinberg did not include the full version in Cubase 13 only a cut down version.
5:24 - The way you just casually dropped in that power tip, of how to turn an isolated audio into a midi clip using Newtone, was so classy. 👍
Worth paying for Newtone at least (I only have the producer edition, so Newtone is not included for free).
@@inzanity7212 You can do that without Newtone. Just load sample into Edison and click Tools - Dump score to piano roll

As always!!! quick question; I'm purchasing FL studio at the end of this month; I'm getting the producer version
Will I be able to upgrade to get the stem separation feature?
Thanks this has brought me back into creating music 💯🔥
nice video. u have a good way to talk.
All ur videos it's amazing ❤
Thank for video👌 .
I believe trackspacer is fairly similar as far as its operation, but I unfortunately dont have that plugin.
no shot this comes "for free" with the lifetime updates. this is insane! Thanks for sharing, can't wait for the official release of this.
I've been testing it to make clean edits for my DJ edits, the minor imperfections are what you mentioned but it's pretty impressive nonetheless.
This is very exciting to me as a beginner trying to learn!
I have been using Izotope's RX to isolate vocals for a remix, but it keeps a bit of instruments in the track. I hope this gives better results! I'm gonna wait for the version to be released out of beta. That noise gate trick looks super useful, by the way, I'm gonna try it!
Awesome video! But, how do you set the bpm? Doesn't the stem get warped or deformed?
Unbelievable. I might be able to use this to go back and fix old tracks that I lost project files for!!!!
Great video- thank you 🙏 FL Studio is truly the best daw out there. Technology has just come so far, it really is amazing!
i was skeptical at first but honestly you've convinced me
Me too. When I saw it in the beta announcement I initially thought it would be a gimmick. I was very wrong!
Can't wait to be able to do this, makes it so much easier than using an ai site that only lets me use it one track per day and it sounds so much better.
I can't wait to get my hands on this update
Best fl tutorial channel! many many thank you
Hey, great video. What camera are you using. This looks great.
