crazy, I didn't think someone would make a documentary about this bit of my childhood almost nobody I know today has ever heard of. I recall commenting on one of his videos asking how the comma glitch happened and he gave a detailed response akin to what you covered -- guy is very much deserving of all the fruits of his labour
Seriously man, whenever I ask my friends "have you guys played swords of sandals" every single time it's a "nope" it's such an amazing game that continues on with it's story, I love the lore so much and never knew he made a game past swords and sandals 2. I come back 8 years later now that I'm 20 and he has, 3, 4, 5, immortals, pirates, etc. Such an AMAZING series
My friends all knew this and I didn't even meet them until later. I think it was just popular in school. Who knows maybe some kids played on flash browser during computer class and when the next kid from next class entered the computer, he would find that game. Or same could have happened in the library
wow, not even 5 minutes in and i'm already very impressed by the amount of research here. even I who consider myself a Swords and Sandals expert and long time fan have no idea of the amount of stuff and history Swords and Sandals have, it's utterly amazing. Toast to you, Toasters!
I did yeti project on my 3rd try and without a little kid putting something in his breakfast ( that would be dishonorable of course! :D). I did 2 lucky critical hits in a row and completely ignored his armor and he was death. I was lucky but i knew only chance to kill him is just do get few lucky critical hits, otherwise theres no chance :D But i remember when i was kid it took me like 200 tries.
this man defined my childhood i really loved swords and sandals and i still love it and one day I can't help but hope that one day i will buy the entire series all at once.
Thanks you so much for making this video. Swords and sandals was always a game I looked back at with a smile and after watching this video just made me look at it with a bigger smile 😃
I was never so Lucky to have the last Play Station console or Xbox so, all I had to entertain myself in my humble home was Internet conection, a PC, logged into Armorgames,Kongregate or Newgrounds and just play over and over the Swords and Sandals games, they were so well made for a flash game, and I really enjoyed their cartoonish humor, thanks for doing this video.
We, the smaller contributors didn't get a mention haha. You could have used my title theme when you introduced Immortals in the video. That song was my happy little mistake.
Didnt realize there was so much story (irl) behind this series, I suppose I should have assumed so when I saw the remasters released on steam (bought them as soon as I saw them of course)
19:47 funny you say that. when I got to him on the steam version, I was still in a disadvantage tho, I got an overkill hit from him, having like around everything 250, he hit me with a grievious 1587 crit ... x)
is there even a series like swords and sandals? its so strange knowing that a game i know from my childhood has almost no similarities with other games.
even though the artstyle has changed drastically over the years, i'm glad the series is still just as great as it's always been.. the only one i hate is the mobile exclusive remake of the original
first time i heard theres a steam version i catapulted myself to my computer so i can buy games and support Oliver. SWORD AND SANDALS GLADİATOOOOOOOOOOR
"GLAD-i-a-TOR! ... GLAD-i-a-TOR! ... GLAD-i-a-TOR! ... GLAD-i-a-TOR! ..." ... has been living in a luxurious, rent-free penthouse in my midbrain since, I dunno... (what day is it?)
here at brazil an bodybuilder lost his own youtube channel rights to his (supposed) friends who was just the crew members because he did not read a renew contract and just had signed it.. he leaves the channel, it lost almost all the views and they tried to sell it back to him.. he refused because he had started a new one..
I really really enjoyed swords and sandals 1 and 2. Just how original it felt. I even paid and currently playing the 2nd game on mobile which (although slightly buggy) really fun! I honestly think the 3rd games design and after look weird and ugly. It lost its touch but I like how ambitious they were. Great video!
Oliver's soundtrack WAS cheesy. He's right, but the whole game series is delightfully cheesy and absolutely coated with Oliver's dad humor. It's a cheesy soundtrack for a cheesy game and I love it.
Thus video inspired me to play it again, and I think I have found a bug: even the shittiest ranged weapon with 10 agility oneshots everyone, including the butcher, wtf?
GLADIATOORRR GLADIATOORRR!
Sword and sandals!
gladiator! gladiator! gladiator!
Swords and sandals

When you go full charisma run, "Swords and Sandals" turns into "Words and Sandals"

i thought you were talking about the Peplum genre. I never played this game. Maybe I should start
Heavily inspired by it! I'm planning on doing a video on pepla in the near future.
