  • Learn how easy it is to make one of Cambodian most favorite and popular soup. I am using pork ribs but you can substitute it with beef and even add beef tripe to this soup.
For the lemongrass paste (Kroeung) you can visit my website khatiya-korner.com
    Ingredients use
    1.5 pounds pork riblets
about 2 pounds water spinach aka morning glory
1/2 cup lemongrass paste aka Kroeung
1 tablespoon fermented fish paste aka prohok
    1 tablespoon sugar
    3 tablespoon fish sauce
    3 tablespoon tamarind soup mix
    a handful of holy basil
    whole chilies (optional)

Thank you for sharing! I have zero experience cooking Cambodian food, but an old coworker would share this soup with me that his wife made. I hope I can recreate this amazing dish!

Glad to hear you enjoy one of our popular Cambodian soup. Hope you are able to re-create this soup. When you do, you can definitely mix it up with switching the vegetables and the proteins.

First time I visit your websites, I have no idea that you sell kreung and I just purchased some. You can't imagine how happy I am. Sound silly but for me I haven't had Khmer food for more than 10 years. Bad at cooking and feeling lost when going to the Asian grocery to pick up the ingredients.

I help my Mom sell some of her homemade good. Thank you for your business.

@@KhatiyaKorner it's my pleasure to support home business. I know it all too well how difficult it is to prep the ingredients just to make Khmer food. I remember my mom use to be in the kitchen all day. Plus many years ago my parents use to make twa-kho to make ends meet in Modesto. None of my siblings want to continue the family business because it's labor intensive. I'm so happy your Mom makes them, I will totally buy them next.
Seriously, I really appreciate both you and your mom for making it available online. Where I live it took me 2 hrs both ways sitting in traffic to Long Beach, let say it was the last first and last time.

For me this is the quintessential Cambodian Somlor and my all time favorite.
Do you know how to make somlor prahoar?

I actually do not know how to make somlar proher. I don’t like it either 😂 maybe because there are too many vegetables in there that I don’t like. But then again this was over 15 years ago since I used to live with my parent. I don’t think I have eaten it since. Not sure if my taste buds has changed or not. Maybe someday I will ask my Mom to share me a bowl to see if I like it now 😂

Hello do you have tutorial for a another soup with water spinach. I had it years ago from my friend’s mom and miss it so much it is sour, has chicken in it and the soup is lighter but foggy consistency.

Yes, I think you are refering to the countryside sour soup. I do have a tutorial for that but using the Indian taro as the vegetable. You can switch it to water spinach and chicken instead. ua-cam.com/video/vS6gpR5qFNw/v-deo.html
