Excellent and informative Mark 👍 I see and totally get how you look at the stones. Mine spoke to me as I was building, so what your saying is totally true. I do love the way you wish to help others. If I ever meet you I will buy you a pint 🍻
I really enjoyed watching this video, you’ve given a great insight on how the rocks speak to you. I now know what to look for in a rock a bit more. It’s fascinating how you see the rocks as framing, spillway or interesting stone. Thanks
I really enjoy your waterfall videos. the way you brief al the detailed elements, its really helping me to build my own. could you please make video on small size and very small budget pond and waterfall i really appreciate it thanks in advance
Another great video Mark. Just wondering, what's the approximate flow rate at the end there. Perhaps flow effects related to different flow rates could be another video. Cheers
Right. I'm basically addicted and binging on your videos now... My garden is being relanscaped as I type this and I can see an opportunity for a small wildlife pond and waterfall. Really would appreciate your advice though, my trusted resource! Is it cool just to email you? 👍
Great video mark, i think i will have to re look at my stones now, would like that first stone , a few questions. 1/ Do you look at the rocks when you first pick them from supplier, 2/ Is there a certain size rocks you start with for the pond size and 3/ Would you ever break up a stone to fit or change a feature
Getting set to build short waterfall. It would be nice for a specific video on design with smaller stones as mine is a one man build and I can only manipulate boulders of 35-50 pounds at best. Love the videos.
That’s a great insight into what rocks to use and where, I guess it’s all trail and error, after a lot of practice I might be happy with it but probably not 😂
Do u start by using some sort of base for the waterfall rocks? Like maybe cinder blocks for a base so u don't have to use as many good rocks for the build up
I always love your videos so much! You have so much information. And I love the way you make use of space. I know somebody that has carnivorous plants…… 🐸
Hi Mark, another great video! Was just wondering the waterfall filter and skimmers etc are all from aquascape which is a American brand, do you sell those products separately as I can’t seem to buy them any where online Many thanks and keep those videos coming love the channel!!
Hi im planning to build a pond on my back yard. I dont know how to figure out the size for pond liner for the pond. Could you please tell me how we can figure out the size of sheet needed for a pond
Hi Mark, What sorts of rock compositions are ok to use in building ponds? I have heard all sorts of opinions on this some based on composition and others based on hardness and shape. I have heard limestone is bad as it changes the pH (but seen people use it), sandstone is bad as it is too soft (but sandstone with more quartz is much harder but I have not seen any ponds built from it, I mentioned sandstone because is the most available rock in our area), don't use rocks that can leech chemicals into the water (I heard this about ironstone as well as other igneous rocks but seen it used), common river stone (you call glacial stone) is very round and is not common in most builds except near the bottoms where it isn't visible and seem aesthetically to be a bad choice, and a few old builds using stacked slate or flagstone is now uncommon. I guess do you have any pointers on how a DIYer can go out and source and select good rocks for a pond build and make sure the selection is ok for a pond with fish (might be different here in Australia than UK but I am sure some tips still apply)?
Hi mark I am looking to build a waterfall for my pond and I have a pond filter that has a round nozzle is there any way to hide it so it appears to flow naturally. Thanks
the only thing that i can see wrong with that interpri is with how interesting a rock is if you fall on to it if you look every cutting edge this rock has can and will at one time maintaining the pond come back to get you but you are right far more interesting edge on or is it natural how a rock tips slides and falls into a hollow
Thanks for your feedback, depends on the rock type and how it’s harvest. Millions of years old. The edges of this rock are angular but not sharp. We do cover the liner with an over liner so the angles will not cut the liner. Human skin is just like rubber if you were to twist or drop a stone on the bare liner yes it would damage the liner for sure. If someone was to fall on the rock and twist it would damage the skin yes
Thanks for your feedback, soft landscaping was not really planned on this one but once the plants grow in it will be much better, like all waterfalls they are all based on rock and the plants grow in over time.

love it, i will take you up on that
I agree Mark with the position of that frame Rock. It creates a light pocket if wanted
yes sir

Thanks for the video, Mark. Once again putting your passion and artistry on display! Keep ‘em coming!
thank you

i do not do a lot of small budget stuff any more, i love my art, when i was 11 I was all over that paper rounds to fund my addiction
Another great video Mark. Just wondering, what's the approximate flow rate at the end there. Perhaps flow effects related to different flow rates could be another video. Cheers
thank you i have a couple of ideas for that flow rate on this was around 20k litre per hour at the base

Fantastic. I want to build more features..... So many rock ideas....
love it
Definitely wanna see this one finished Mark! Looks awesome already! 👌
thanks, showcase in the pipe line

1 yes we hand pick from our own rock piles, 2 bigger is better, but interesting all the same, i break up stone on most projects

we use aqua blocks sometimes in the builds, never cinder blocks or concrete, we dig out the benches for the size of the waterfall rocks
My 6 biggest rocks got lost, so I put them on top of other rocks and some of them I put on their side to make them look bigger !
nice
I’m placing my rocks today! Thank you for this.
I’m not sure what type of rocks I’m using because I just found a few big ones in my yard that were here
My pleasure, enjoy playing in the dirt!
Brilliant topic.
thank you
Thanks
thank you for your time

i would love to find a few this side of the pond I just need to sweet talk and possibly build them a bog

you want weathered limestone! (nothing coming out the ground), fish safe stone is key we use only three or four types of stone
exactly what I was looking for. Great stuff!
Could you speak up? There's a helicopter going overhead. 🙁
Thanks for the feedback
i love rock talk.
Thanks 🙏
Never underestimate the importance of being physically able to move a rock during rock selection.
so true, physically move the rock "with safety in mind"
I like rock...................if it's from Blackpool.
Nice
Where is good to get these big rocks from without having to pay too much?
Bulk purchase, it’s the delivery. Have you seen my video on where I get my rocks from?
@@ThePondAdvisor I haven't no, I'll give it a watch now! Thank you

Hi mark I am looking to build a waterfall for my pond and I have a pond filter that has a round nozzle is there any way to hide it so it appears to flow naturally. Thanks
You can run the return pipe through a bulk head and then hide it with a waterfall
I built one and I found the red onion thanks guys remarkable work 🤣
Do you get a refund on excess stones then?
Refund? We use the stone on site once we take the stone in to a garden it stays in the garden as our cropping stones

Yes but too many stones its not natural

A ten minute video of a guy talking about one rock...seriously?
