- A quick update on the Ribble , I have it working normally again 👍 but it still requires an update Ribble told me to take it to any Mahle supplier bike shop for the update , thanks Ribble for all the help…. Not !
I did it! I pedalled and use on/off till 89%. Your battery level must be 89%!!! Once you achieve this level, your bike will be ready to run. My advice is not to charge more than 88%, and you'll avoid 193 error.
Thank you very much for your help.
Thanks for the tips atb Dave 🚲👍
Can you explain a little more on what you mean
Having similar problems very informative.Thank you for posting.
Your welcome
Glad you got it back up & working Dave & the update will 100% sort this issue out
Cheers , yeah hopefully get the bike in next week 🚲👍
Hi Leon, I have the same problem with my bike, how did you manage to complete the firmware update? Thanks, Sean
@@Hawkeye-Flyer local bike shop called Leisure lakes bikes did it for £25, problem solved & never returned
@@Brookes79 Thanks for that. Much appreciated
I finally got tired of taking my Cannondale ebike with X35 to the shop for weeks to get an update. Bought a GCU cable for about 100 dollars and did the update myself. Despite all the "fears" it was quite easy. The bike took the generic update on the Mahle site with no problems. Just follow their instructions.
That’s good to hear , but it’s a poor job that you have spend $100 on a cable to do the update. We should be able to do this via the app , I’m sure if they updated the app so we could do it without taking to the shop.
Hi Dave I just had the purple flashing light, so I went out with no power and it started fine when i turned it on after a couple of minutes, and been fine since. I'll try not to fully charge it in future 'til I can update it at a shop Which is probably 25 miles away....Thanks for the video very helpful, unlike ribble's customer service!
Mine is still the same, flashes purple after charging I cycle a few yards and it disappears 🤷♂️ I’ve heard folk getting it updated and it causing issues and needing batteries replaced ! think I will just leave mine without the update .
Getting there dave 👍I was quite lucky when I bought my Ribble customer service wasn't to bad as it was before they were took over.ive dealt with most of the big online bike shops & they can all be luck of the draw😢Merlin & wiggle aren't to bad.hope you get it fully sorted👍🚴
Cheers Geordie , they want your money but that’s about all . I have emailed a local bike shop they can do it for £25 👍
PS, after the update even got the Garmin Edge and Ebike Remote working perfectly! Yay!
Great to hear!
Keep us updated Dave I've just got a Ribble gravel ALE great bike but terrible customer service. I'm in Carlisle as well so would be interested to see where you get it updated. Have you tried Palace.
Will do , I have emailed Scotby cycles they said they can do it for £25
@@davesolobiker5601 great stuff Dave. Didn't think you'd have much joy with Ribble I waited 4 month for the bike. They were shocking to deal with. A shame really as the bike is decent.
Yeah poor service mine was about 5 month in the end then it appeared lol . Great bike tho
have you had any issues where the bike, quite soon after using, wont let you engage a higher power mode, if you try it flashes and goes back to green? its like as though the battery is a fraction of the capacity it shoudl be?
No I can’t say that I have had that issue , sounds a strange one ? Faulty battery maybe
@@davesolobiker5601 yes probably, i've not seen it anywhere hence asking. thanks.
Dont get an orbea ... mine wouldnt switch on with 200 miles on battery and 2 month out of warranty.. Misdiagnosed by orbea .. 4 month off the road and a 300 pound for labour .. I told shop it was battery but Orbea said it was lighting cabling... 650 for a new battery 90 pounds more for labour .. then no guarentee of success .. disaster ..
Sounds like you have had a pig of a bike , I still get the fault after charging but as soon as you start pedalling it goes away thankfully . But not good especially when you can’t even update via the useless app
I’ve got my bike on a stand and still can’t get out of the error mode. Just cycle on-off with back wheel spinning or just press iWoc button repeatedly while spinning? Thanks!
Yes that’s all I did , kept pressing Iwoc on off whilst spinning the wheel and eventually it kicked back into life atb Dave
@@crc6209 shame it didn’t work , let me know how you get on with the cgu cable ? Are they really that expensive ££
@@davesolobiker5601 Success! The firmware process is quite cubersome, as you’re only able to rely on the GCU lights for status.
This might be helpful to others in the future:
You may need to do multiple flashes to update all components correctly. I had to do a few for some reason, but eventually I ended up with the GREEN light on the GCU indicating everything flashed OK. The log files on the USB stick are also helpful.
Here’s what was updated:
Joystick: iM2EM121 > iM2EM126
Controller: 4107 = 4107
Battery: 48 > 4B
The GCU controller was updated also at first flash to 1.07. Best to reformat the USB stick and then flash the bike after the GCU flash.
I’m now charged to 100% with no error 193. Everything good!
I’ll just keep the GCU for future updates and since no shops in my city will do the updates. The Orbea dealer didn’t even have the GCU. 😮
* You don’t need a laptop to flash. The firmware files go into a USB stick and the USB plugs into the GCU cable.
@@crc6209 that’s great news although not as straight forward as you thought ! Where did get your cable and how much are they , as they seem difficult to come by ? Atb Dave
@@davesolobiker5601 There’s a few online sellers here in the US. It was US$131 for the GCU cable.😮 mind you, it’s not just a plain USB cable. There’s obviously some circuitry in there as it’s reading if the flash status and even writing the flash log on the USB stick. But yeah, it’s expensive!
I had a very bad experience with Ribble and vowed never to use them again!
Same here, really poor customer services but it had already been paid for !!
i had a purple flashing light for a year, nightmare, ribble are useless
Agreed , poor sales and after sales
Wow, one year! How did you fix the problem?
i haven't...
