Hi thanks for your video. I just started getting the purple light yesterday. I have the same set up except I use the Mahle that came with it. The light comes on climbing after about a 1/2 mile into ride. Everything I looked up said firmware too. Though just to get through the rides if I took the battery out of the Mahle and "rebooted" it didn't do it gain . Same today.(I also have extended battery) . Happy riding ... I do love this bike. I have had so many surgeries this bike gives me so much freedom. Enjoy your rides!

I have found that if I wait till about 50-60% to turn on the battery it won’t blink purple. So I don’t use the extender until the bike battery is down a bit. On an extended climb I’ll have the battery ready to go and at 70% I’ll reach down and turn it on. That will usually keep the bike charged to the top of the mountain. The purple seems to be warning of over charge on the bike battery. In this instance. The messages are not quite great on actual issues. Because purple also means firmware update needed.

Thanks for this, I've got a different make with the same ebikemotion system and have just had the same purple blinking error (193 apparently), but your video gave me a bit of confidence it's fixable! Happy riding!

So we (wife and I) just picked up our Merida e-bikes with ebikemotion fitted. Charged them up for our first rides. Mine was fine but wife's started blinking purple when turned on with error 193 (Cell Over Voltage). Back to dealer and quick 30 sec firmware update saw the lights operating normally again. BUT the error on the companion app still shows error 193. Unsure why and dealer confused. Trying to find out how to remove that dreaded red triangle with exclamation in the app.

@@jefftorr4802I've had this error a few times since when I've left the charger plugged in. I find that a few minutes peddling around with it blinking resolves the problem (or leaving it on overnight, it eventually turns off automatically anyway) discharges enough excess to make it fully functional again - maybe if you unpair the app, cycle a bit and then try pairing again after a bit of use? Not the best functioning obviously, but just in case it helps.

What I do when I get cell over volt (happens after charging) I just spin the peddles to get the motor running then it goes back to fully functional.

Bought a used SuperSix Evo and charged it for the first time after a couple rides and got this issue. Spun the pedals like you said and the light & warning on the app went away. Good save. I’ll still take it to the shop and see if there is a firmware update needed.

Mine is doing this I don't have the extended battery. PoS system IMO had so many issues in 5 months of ownership.

When do you get the purple flashing light? I have found that when I over charge the battery, like over 100%. Not leaving it on the charger, ie: paying attention to when it will be fully charged and disconnecting and burning a few minutes off 100% has helped. That is when I get the dreaded purple (nice color tho) flashing light. I found so far, if I stop and reset (turn it off then on-which is a pain) it it goes away. I have also found that it hasn't affected my assist, it's just annoying to have it. If you have the extender I find if I plug my extender in when I am down to 30% and then I never get the purple light. Have you looked up what the actual error code is? If you log into your ebike motion account you can get more info on your actual error code. Also, these lithium batteries may be giving us more issues than we think. They can't be fully discharged-they can't be over charged... blah, blah, blah.... They are kind of a PITA. This because my phone has one, my Vanagon has one...for the house battery, my boss just bought 6 for his RV for $10,000 and has issues with his inhouse computer. It's new technology, we are the ones figuring it out. PS, I now have the Gain and the Vibe.
