  • With pictures and alittle video, here is where I am at on building a deck for a good friend. The holes for the Sonic tubs (10" tubes) were drilled with a 2 person auger that has no idle. Once that motor started, the auger was moving immediatly. It was a handful and hard to keep it from walking at the start. So, my alignment of the footing were not spot on, but I was still able to work with them. Holes range from 28" to 36" deep with 1/2" rebarb installed in all of them. Cement is a fiber cement to prevent any cracking over time. Ledger is 2x10x16' pressure treated and anchored into the foundation using 5" galvanized anchors. My outside rim joists are doubleed 2x10x22' pressure treated coming out from the house. They are held together with Liquid Nails and framing nails 2 3/8th long every 14"s. The boards were clamped together before nailing. My cross joists are also pressure treated 2x10x16' doubled but clamped and just nailed together. My legs are 4x6 pressure treated with a step cut into them to support the outside joists then thru bolted.
The products I am using are not promotions for the brand. They are just products I have purchased in order to do the work correctly.
