thanks for this...I didn't listen to 'The Queen is Dead' at the time, in fact I avoided it...I arrived to The Smiths on the release of This Charming Man, I saw them live first in 1984 and was a true believer...but when Meat is Murder came out I was a little disappointed, and when I saw them on that tour, they hype and hysteria was enough to make me move away from The Smiths...and I have only recently moved back, in my dotage, to appreciate the later works...possibly Cemetery Gates is my favourite of all Morrissey songs...

Glad you decided to return to The Smiths. Meat is Murder actually cemented my love for them. I wish I had been able to see them live. Thank you for watching.

@fidelios_frequency You're right. I think the 80's had better pop rock, pop metal, pop R&B, pop Reggae & so on. 90's pop music was more watered down & basic. I might have some vinyl recommendations if you're interested? I don't disappoint. 👍

@fidelios_frequency You started with the 60's to the 2000's so I will do the same. I often like to recommend groups and albums that people are not aware of or have forgotten. 60's Self-titled album Gary Lewis and the Playboys album (The legendary masters series)The Crykle album (Red Rubber Ball) 70's Isaac Hayes album (Live at the Sahara Tahoe) Stevie Wonder concept album (Journey Threw The secret life of plants) Alan Parsons Project album (Pyrimid) 80's going just a tade deeper than the Metalica type stuff Sodom album (Percicution Mania) Rollins Band album (Hard Volume) Sade album (Stronger than Pride) Men at Work album (Cargo) 90's Red House Painters album (Rollercoaster) or (Ocean Beach) Jamiroquai album (Emergency on Planet Earth). Michelle Indigo Chello album (Plantation Lullabies) Stevie Wonder album (Natural Wonder). Late 90's going into the early 2000's Billy Bang album (Big Bang Theory) My last two are based off the times we're living in musically being that Hip Hop is basically where rock was in the 90's before it commercially took a plunge. Self-titled album (Deltron3030) & Aceyalone album (A Book of Human Language) are probably the last vinyl Hip Hop albums you can get that are essential for understanding Hip Hop at it's peak in the late 90's and early 2000's. In fact Deltron3030 is a concept album about what would happen to the music industry from that point on. Don't listen to these two albums without headphones being there's special effects included. Also I recommend Googling them to find out what they're about so you won't get lost when listening. I'm sure some of these will become apart of your collection & will be interested to see what you think of them in the future if you do a review??? There's only probably a couple you may know on the list but the ones you don't know will be a left turn & a eyebrow raiser for you. Thanks for replying. 👍

'Doolittle' was my first Pixies album and also have that reissue. For some reason 'No. 13 Baby' is a top track for me. While I was a fan and actually saw them in concert back in the day, I have not picked up an R.E.M. album in awhile - thanks for the reminder that 'Automatic for the People' is a great album. I did this thread as well, and 'Avalon' is part of my most listened to and revered album.

The Smiths is another exemple of music that really stood the test of time as it doesn't sound too ''eighthies'', a cousin of mine always made fun of me because i was into 70s or 80s music and i realized that he liked The Smiths, so i guess that's the sort of bands everyone agrees on

Some of my all time favorite records are in the video but quite a few are not. There some records I can’t play often because the listening requires almost an emotional drain. And there are times I’m not ready for that. I usually play new releases daily but the oldies I go back to are the ones in the video. I’ll be making another new release video shortly.

“Hats” might be an un-rediscovered gem (i have no idea, maybe it’s well known by now). The production on that record is incredible. Also the best use of the technology of that era, which might sound dated now but completely transcends the “80’s sound” that might put people off initially. The way Downtown Lights builds and builds is almost unbearable. Unique album at the time and today.

What's Going On - I haven't given this record enough attention. I mostly listen to Let's get it on.
Avalon - Haven't listened to it at all. Roxy Music largely flew under my radar.
Smiths - Same. Never listened them.
I'm an 80s guy as well.
I can't stand The Pixies. Hated both this record and Surfer Rosa. Just hated them.
Hats - Never heard of the record or the band. I'll check them out.
I loathe REM. Everything about their sound is irritating to my ear.
    Never heard anything from Portishead.
Tried listening to Radiohead. Could not get into it.
Never heard anything from Lana Del Rey.
