Just got started on a record collection and started watching a few UA-cam channels to start getting my knowledge up. Then today I went by a record store on my lunch break my wife's step dad told me about. The shop was noble records, I didn't realize until just now when I saw the channel name it was your store I went to. Randomly bumped into you through both the internet and word of mouth!

Sadly and I have been doing is over 40 years, I keep a record of what I listen to (its all in a database now) so the last year from 10th Aug 2022 to 10th Aug 2023....from a 5k+ collection....in no order.....Free - Fire and Water, Family - Bandstand, Budgie - In For The Kill, Gil Scott Heron - Winter in America, John Martyn - Bless The Weather, Hermann Szobel - Szobel, Frank Zappa - Guitar, Captain Beefheart - As Safe As Milk, Black Crowes - The Southern Harmony.... and Tom Waits Blue Valentine. Great to hear your picks !
Bette Davis. I worked for her record distributor decades ago. Beautiful voice. I had some of her 45’s, but sold them when I sold my record collection years ago.
Great to watch this Dillon, thank you. I'm so interested in your choices, and do have a couple of them, Joni Mitchell, + Eddie Hazel. Thanks for turning me on to the Oscillations, 70s African music. In 1973 I was 16 working as a Pizza cook in a village in a National Park and our sound system was an 8- track machine with maybe 4 8-tracks to play. One was Osibisa "Woyaya". Loved that, still play it. African Funk has always been a joy for me. Manu Dibango, Fela Kuti, Angelique Kidjo, and now the Oscillations. Thanks
Its hard to pick a top 10 that you have listened over the years without crossing so many genres and types of Music. Over the years (50 of them to date), I've kept going back to the Allman Bros live at the Filmore East, Anything Mahavishnu Orchestra, Marvin Gaye, Weather Report, Miles Davis, The Porgy and Bess Songbook, and Joni Mitchell. Thanks for turning me on to these Dillion. Luv those Oscillations.
I like your choices. My list : Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon Supertramp - Crime of the century Steely Dan - Can´t buy a thrill The Smiths - The Queen is dead The Waterboys - This is the Sea Pavlov´s Dog - Pampered Menial Keith Jarrett - Koln Concert Jethro Tull - Songs from the Wood Television - Marquee Moon Neutral Milk Hotel - In the aeroplane over the sea Pixies - Doolittle Sufjan Stevens - Illinois Pink Floyd - The Wall Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms Gang of Four - Entertainment!
So glad to see you talk about Zach Bryan! His album DeAnn is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. So heavy and such beautiful song writing like you said.
Great post..such an eclectic mix to reflect your moods and tastes..id say we are all similar in that our tastes and favourite "go to" records change with time..Some superb obscure choices..Love RATM mind...a personal go to is Lee Morgan The Cooker..always brightens my day and mood..that and Led Zeppelin 1..Thank you from the UK for taking the time to post and share 👌

I used to go to a proto metal website years ago ( cant remember the name ) and there was a thread in the forum about heavy funk and someone brought up Betty Davis. I ended up picking up 2 of hers and i think theyre great. I absolutely love Dont Call Her No Tramp. Love Eddie Hazel's version of California Dreamin' . Great album Heres Mine... Jefferson Airplane - Crown Of Creation Love- Forever Changes Gandalf- S/T Doors -.Strange Days Black Sabbath - Master of Reality Beatles - White Album Kiss- Rock and Roll Over Led Zeppelin II Rush- Fly By Night Uriah Heep - Live 73
Good I love that Eddie Hazel. I had the pleasure of meeting George Clinton when he joined my professor’s lecture last year. Super cool experience asking him how he got Eddie’s mom to let him go record and tour with them. One of my favorite moments in college.
Top 10 for today (no particular order) Nick Drake - Bryter Layter Kinks - Self Preservation Society Small Faces - Ogdens Nutgone Flake Oasis -Definitely Maybe Beatles - Revolver Stone Roses -Stone Roses Charlatans- Tellin Stories Lennon - Mind Games The Jam - All Mod Cons Miles Davis - Kind of Blue Quadrophenia for a close 11th
Great video, it's always nice to get a peek at somebody's listening habits, preferences, and favorites! I would love to see a video of albums you grew up with that stuck with you, like stuff your parents played or that was always on at a friend's house, stuff that you don't even remember hearing for the first time because it was just always there.
YES, Alice in Chains is the greatest band since Led Zeppelin IMO…… Layne’s voice is EPIC. You are so right. Their stuff is so heavy and emotional. Then again, when you are hooked on Heroin your life must be hell. Such a shame that he left us so soon. Speaking of Zeppelin, I have a interesting LZII RL question I need some help on. Keep up the great videos. John
Great list Dillon! 👍 I would love to see some of those 90’s vinyl getting the UHQR treatment; Jar Of Flies and RATM for example. Wouldn’t that be something? 😊
Townes name popped up all the time but it wasn't until Lockdown that I gave this album a listen. It made me love lockdown. John Prine is another one I finally started to listen to. I'd love another lockdown to see what else I can discover.
I only know a couple songs from the Oscillations. I checked on the album, guess I will wait for a reissue ! Betty Davis, dirty funk is exactly right. I love that album. Take a shower after playing it. Enjoyed your list Dillon.
Great to hear you're running! I'm a huge fan myself! You may want to give Interval Running a go. I can't say enough about it in terms of a great way to better your fitness. Great picks, as well. Enjoyed!😁
Rival Sons - Feral Roots, Led Zeppelin IV, Black Crowes - The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, Jean-Luc Ponty - Enigmatic Ocean, Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies, Ratt - Dancing Undercover, Journey - Departure (or Captured), Van Halen - II, Sting - Ten Summoner’s Tales, Steely Dan - Aja, Rush - Moving Pictures -- Honorable Mentions - AC/DC - Powerage, Dirty Honey, Chicago II, Boston, Billy Joel - Greatest Hits I & II, Dokken - Under Lock and Key, Whitesnake, Slide It In and Good To Be Bad, Buckcherry - 15, Van Halen - all through OU812, Billy Squier - Don’t Say No, Motley Crue - Theatre of Pain, Tesla - Mechanical Resonance & The Great Radio Controversy, Every other Rival Sons album!!
Glad to see you mentioned the only Rap album I like: Rage Against the Machine (debut). I bet you dig the guitar and bass like me. Now I offer a suggestion. Have you ever tried New Jersey grunge? I have an obscure but very fascinating album called Mindfunk - Dropped (1993). I find myself drawn to this far too often!
my top ten Bobby Caldwell - Bobby Caldwell Eric Gale - Multiplication Andrae Crouch and the Disciples - Take Me Back Gilgamesh - Self-titled Lonnie Liston Smith and the Cosmic Echoes - Expansions AND Visions of a New World Ahmad Jamal Trio - The Awakening Pink Floyd - Animals Knxwledge - Anthology Flying Lotus - Los Angeles Sufjan Stevens - Age of Adz I own vinyl of all these, and i overpaid for most of them
I had breakfast with Bobby Caldwell and his Manager decades ago, when I worked for his debut album record company. I still have his debut album in yellow vinyl.
You might also like Jacques Brel, definitely a master songwriter though getting good English versions can be hard. Scott Walker did a record of exclusively Brell songs a must for those looking for honest lyrical mastery.
For me it's too many to count, but definitely the closest would be the likes of Ramones - Road to Ruin, Queen II, Help, Clear Light and Tangerine Dream (Kaleidoscope) - throw in Black Sabbath, headless cross for good measure.
There’s a current ‘The Oscillations’ which is, I think, a UK band, I have an album that I must dig out. It’s obviously not Zamrock, more psychedelic. A fantastic record.
Do you have the Alice In Chains self titled LP? One of the best LPs I own.. also Unplugged has that raw emotion, especially Sludge Factory. Very obvious what Layne was trying to emote
The way it stands today: John Prine John Prine Townes Van Zandt Live at the Old Quarter Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street Guy Clark Old No. 1 Sturgill Simpson Dood/Juanita Johnny Cash I Walk the Line Neil Young Tonight's the Night Louvin Brothers Tragic Songs of life Black Sabbath Paranoid Turnpike Troubadours Diamonds&Gasoline
im currently tryin to rent out this local shop building in my town and open a small record store in there, whats the best way to advertise to get leads for people selling record collections
Tanks fer sharin' yer top 10. Blue surprised me so here's a Joni story. I saw her in Austin for the Miles O' Aisles tour. After the show I waited by her black limousine 'n sho' 'nuff here comes Joni with her arms full o' yellow roses 'n two gentlemen-Roger Kellaway 'n Tom Scott. I asked her why she never answered any o' my letters. She replied "because I knew we would meet just like this someday" 'n she handed me a rose that I still have. Then the three o' dem slid into the back seat o' the limo. As they drove away the lyrics from her song For Free came to mind..."I have a black limousine 'n two gentlemen escortin' me to the halls..."
You honestly believed what she said? Ok. all good. One of the oldest lines in the music world as an artist is when some fan writes you a letter and doesn’t understand why you didn’t write back. Truly ….but if it makes you happy…got be careful though. Artists are doing their best to live a normal life when they are not on the stage…so they have to be careful with possible stalkers. Sadly, it’s a,different world and artists get people that think there are no boundaries in an interaction..okay? Just want you (and her) to be okay in the long run..peace.
John Martyn - One World....Hawkwind - In Search of Space... King Buffalo - Longing To Be The Mountain.... Gong - You..... Underworld - Secondtoughestintheonfants... The Orb - John Peel Sessions...Nick Drake - Bryter Later... Jane Siberry - The Walking.... Kate Bush - The Hounds Of Love...Beyond - And The Waters Opened.
Dillon, since you like Zach Bryan and Townes Van Zandt, when you get a chance, stream the music of Charles Wesley Godwin, a singer/songwriter from West Virginia. He's a terrific songwriter and his voice will bring the Appalachia out of you.
Black Sabbath - yes Listen to a lot of Townes and Guy Clark. Jar of Flies is great but Soundgarden always wins out. Alice Cooper Killer . I always come back to Revolver the best of all rock albums in my humble opinion.
Couchois, best of the Statler brothers, Queen News of the World, Foreigner , Boston, Huey Lewis Sports, Cheap Trick One on One, Waylon Gr Hits, Bee Gees Spirits Having Flown, AC DC Back in Black
Correction, it’s ’The Oscillation’ and he’s London based. The album I have is Untold Futures. Love your videos Dylan, thank you for taking the time to make them.
Interesting. I am not with the music but really funky stuff you like. I am not really old when it comes to music and lean into old blues, R&R, disco sucks. Didn’t ‘discover Tom Petty & the HBs still 5 years ago. So my top 10 would be artists you wouldn’t have in your collection. But I love the comments as others share their favs with you. Keep up the good work. Peace.
@@noblerecords that is SO true…not all, disco, sucks…I was the Doors stuff like that …why is for every genre of music you often have to wade through the bullshit to find the nuggets? It’s like with people…a group seems a certain way and then when u find the bullshit people u ignore and find the good ones? That’s my $.04 thought. Haha )(inflation) mjust stay safe..please.. It seems like these days everyone's talking about their ten most listened albums. How 'bout talking about the hundred(s) that take up space that we never, ever listen to? HUH, Huh, huh... Kidding... Peace on earth.
I am deeply and profoundly disappointed by this list. Just kidding. As I prepare to unload all of my records one day, part of my justification is that I really do keep going back to the same small selection of titles. Most of of mine are from 1989ish, when I was 16. The Stone Roses, Trash Can Sinatras, Ocean Blue, New Order Technique, Wire On Returning. I haven’t been spinning these records on heavy rotation for the last 30 years, but now that I’m 50, they have become what I feel like hearing.

Brilliant EP
I’m into prog but AIC is top 5
I like Zam Rock too. It has the energy of the first west coast garage bands which was lost with all the studio production.
I just saw Isbell last Wednesday, killer show! Townes is the man, I play his stuff live quite a bit. I'll be swinging by the store this weekend, see you then!
I’m going to check out Blue in my local record store. Sounds amazing.
You won’t regret it. It’s just beautiful.

The guitar on that Oscillations record IS incredible!!! 🤖 ⚡
Our tastes are very similar! From heavy rock to funk and afro to Joni Mitchell

Great list Dillon! 👍
I would love to see some of those 90’s vinyl getting the UHQR treatment; Jar Of Flies and RATM for example. Wouldn’t that be something? 😊
When I sold my crate full of 90’s OGs years ago to Scott that Rage is the only one I kept.
I'm really intrigued the more I learn about Zamrock. I'm a crazed collector of Itaprog
One recent discovery is John Fullbright. I'm obsessed with the Song album
Fraction and Betty Davis are nice finds/discoveries. And I'm only halfway through your list. Everything outstanding so far. Thx.
Townes name popped up all the time but it wasn't until Lockdown that I gave this album a listen. It made me love lockdown. John Prine is another one I finally started to listen to. I'd love another lockdown to see what else I can discover.

I’m looking for Tangerine Dream - I love The Sky Children.
I have a CD live at the Bluebird with TVZ, Guy Clark, Steve Earle all playing ... I dont think it was releashed on LP
There’s a current ‘The Oscillations’ which is, I think, a UK band, I have an album that I must dig out. It’s obviously not Zamrock, more psychedelic. A fantastic record.
The Who Quadophenia is a masterpiece on vinyl!! Still blows me away!!
Do you have the Alice In Chains self titled LP? One of the best LPs I own.. also Unplugged has that raw emotion, especially Sludge Factory. Very obvious what Layne was trying to emote
Fraction seriously needs a reissue... Hint hint!
😉 😉 😉 🤐
You go to the PFunk show @ The Fillmore last night? Was a killer gig man. Fishbone opened.
I saw this tour .. in Port Chester at the Capitol .. Fishbone were fuckin brilliant .. p funk were a mess. I’ve seen George Clinton 4x since 1989 ..
Hope you all have an awesome weekend man

Some good recommendations.
You might like Thorlock. I saw them in Cape G. Show got shutdown by the cops, too loud
I'm surprised a Jazz album didn't crack the top 10 🤔
Am I the only people who favors Townes' "Our Mother The Mountain" over the s/t?
Been searching for that Eddie Hazel for YYYEEEAAAARRRSSSSSSSssssss. You lucky SOB!
im currently tryin to rent out this local shop building in my town and open a small record store in there, whats the best way to advertise to get leads for people selling record collections
Is Creed n Rundgren in the top 20?!!? Also: what are your thoughts on In Utero? Might be my fave Nirvana.
Just want you (and her) to be okay in the long run..peace.
did you know they released a second solo album on Eddie Hazel after he passed away?
Yeah it’s amazing!
I like the playing but the sound quality is bad, at least on my copy.@@noblerecords

Dillon, since you like Zach Bryan and Townes Van Zandt, when you get a chance, stream the music of Charles Wesley Godwin, a singer/songwriter from West Virginia. He's a terrific songwriter and his voice will bring the Appalachia out of you.
Yes! He’s been in my shop actually! He used the system in my shop to demo the test pressing for his record!
If I were a betting man, I would now be buying the drinks or coffees. Its easy to see that you are a caring and sensitive bloke.
This is one fine 10!
Black Sabbath - yes Listen to a lot of Townes and Guy Clark. Jar of Flies is great but Soundgarden always wins out. Alice Cooper Killer . I always come back to Revolver the best of all rock albums in my humble opinion.
Couchois, best of the Statler brothers, Queen News of the World, Foreigner , Boston, Huey Lewis Sports,
Cheap Trick One on One, Waylon Gr Hits, Bee Gees Spirits Having Flown, AC DC Back in Black

"5 Ks"? Is the US finally joining the rest of the world and going metric?
Great list, there is a couple more I will have to check out.
Correction, it’s ’The Oscillation’ and he’s London based. The album I have is Untold Futures. Love your videos Dylan, thank you for taking the time to make them.
Correction, it’s “The Oscillations”; just like he said.
@@kevinwheeler9009 Who cares, great band (one man) though 😂
Rage Against the Machine is an awesome record.
Interesting. I am not with the music but really funky stuff you like. I am not really old when it comes to music and lean into old blues, R&R, disco sucks. Didn’t ‘discover Tom Petty & the HBs still 5 years ago. So my top 10 would be artists you wouldn’t have in your
collection. But I love the comments as others share their favs with you. Keep up the good work. Peace.
Thanks! Also, don’t discount disco, there’s some really good disco funk out there!
Gail in Central FL.…sigh…
Ignore typos please…didn’t put glasses on…

It seems like these days everyone's talking about their ten most listened albums.
How 'bout talking about the hundred(s) that take up space
that we never, ever listen to?
HUH, Huh, huh...
Kidding... Peace on earth.
Hi, I want hidden treasures... Albums you like nobody knows...
Don’t no who she is ilgo check it out
I am deeply and profoundly disappointed by this list.
☔️😎Spiritualized….🪐
I hate that term grunge . I call it smack rock😂. I was a 90s kid, so it makes my 45 year old ass feel young again
