    Hard magic systems that the rules are not completely explained seems just perfect for readers to explore and engage in the world

      @@Mousedesvio Yeah I totally agree! I like a good mix of a hard and soft magic system.

    I've been thinking about starting up my own worldbuilding, and as I've been playing DnD and Pathfinder for years, I feel like it'd be inspired by the different forms of magic in those games. (Arcane, Divine, and Psionic) As an equivalent to arcane, I had the thought of naming the system "Sourcery" as its practitioners cultivate their magic from "Sources". A source would vary in its potential from it's ability to grow and change. So from least to most powerful a source could be a nonliving thing (like a sword), a former living thing (Like the branch of a tree in the form of a staff or wand), or a currently living thing. (Such as an animal or even the caster themselves). This is just the basis for one form of magic, let me know what you think! I enjoyed the video, and I'd like to know where I could see some of your writing.

    Great video! I'm using more of a soft magic in my series inspired by Norse mythology... only the Vanir gods and Loki can weird it, and it's based on the elements and is powered by nature and emotions. My MC is just learning she can also weird this magic (but I can't say why as that's a HUGE spoiler!

    Nice video! I really like this explanation. Try not to make it too obvious you're reading from a script though!

    sorry but harry potter has the literal opposite of a soft magic system. the entire setting is children going to school to learn magic. they learn spells through textbooks, every spell has a firm definition, and the spell names derive from latin roots that essentially just say what the spell does. the entire idea of the half blood prince is that it’s essentially a cheat sheet for magic. not saying the magic system is great but it’s not soft at all

    • @ldjwrites
      @ldjwrites  Місяць тому

      @@asthen5332 I would agree with you, but the rules of this magic aren’t explicitly stated to us outside of the use of wands and the words of the spell, so I’ll concede and say it’s a semi-soft magic system.
