How I’m Becoming a Bestseller | Authortube Newbie Tag 📝✨
Very excited to see how this whole universe of yours unfolds. It’s very impressive that you can manage to churn out so many videos while also remaining consistent in your writing. Also, just a random question, how do you think a fight between Chase and Sebastian would go?
@@ComicConvict I’m excited to have you along for the journey! A fight between Sebastian and Chase would be fairly even until Sebastian runs out of stamina/energy trying to wear down Chase’s defenses. At that point, I think Chase would win.
good luck with the competition!!
@@itsamina Thank you Amina!!!
Ooooh, short stories are a great idea - I use Reedsy and Submittable to find contests, in case you needed a rec 🫶🏾 My goals between now and March are to just finish the two WIPs I've been working on since last year 😅 I'd love to see your quarterly review!
I’m so stoked for everything you have planned. I feel like I’m a marvel fan waiting for the next movie to release, except that instead of movies, it’s your books lol. Btw, who are your top five favorite characters in the Keyverse?
@@MightOfThePen-h9s Hahaha that was definitely the goal! The Keyverse was 100% inspired by my love of the MCU. My top 5 characters are Chase, Sebastian, Makaela, Iggy, and Princess Noia. I’m curious as to who yours are 👀
Cool! My favorites are Chase, Sebastian, Ajax, Oscar, and Victor. Emily and Andre get an honorable mention lol
My goal for January is to finish drafting my WIP. 16,667 words left 😅 Fingers crossed 🤞 In February, I want to write an outline to prepare for developmental and line editing. I also want to brainstorm book two in my planned series. In March, I would like to begin developmental editing 😃
I absolutely cannot wait for The Ivory Crypt! I’m so invested in all of your series, but the Eldenarian Artifacts takes the cake for me. Also, who would you say is more skilled, Sebastian or Chase?
I would have to say Sebastian just because he's older, but the gap isn't that wide.
I really, really loved Gladiator so I’m super hyped for Anarchist! Iggy’s one of my top ten Keyverse characters lol
I'm glad you like him! Took me a while to get his character right, but I'm excited for his arc in Anarchist.
I'll be working mostly on a YA fantasy novel i'm working on. I'm in the middle of the rough draft at 60k. So I want to finish that and start editing it. I'll also be working on a short story for my substack as I plan to write a few short stories and post them there through-out the year. I write mostly horror and fantasy. Good luck with your goals!
I’m very excited about these goals! Esp excited for Anarchist plotting. That series sounds very interesting! It would be fun to do a video on the short story journeyyy. Think I make start of light since there’s a big graded project for school in march and I need a lot of prep for that. I will probably continue trying to finish plotting out the book I want to finish this year first and foremost while plotting on the side any other story I’ve already started. Goal may be to finish plotting as many as I can so after March I can deep dive into writing and be less lost.
Thank you so much! I haven't worked on the series Anarchist belongs to in about 2 years, so it'll be great to revisit that world. I definitely will be doing a video centered around my process of drafting/writing my short story. I wish you well with your goals for the first few months of the year, Ken!
@@ldjwrites Woah that's quite a while but should be so much fun to re-explore. And thank you!
I struggle with drafting and revising on two different projects. I am going to use January for edits and revising, then I'll start drafting again in February.
That sounds like a great plan! I hope everything goes well with the edits :)
hey, writer here as well. i've divided my year into 2 parts. first 6 and last 6. for the first 6 months, im gonna be finishing and working on a revision of my horror-thriller script entitled Darah & Daging (Malay for Flesh & Blood). i only got the last act to finish so like 85% done already. other than that, im also gonna be finishing up my first ever horror novel titled, LOVESICK. 25% done and im hoping to finish it by the latest June and get it traditionally published. my other works i have arranged it all for late 2025 or in 2026.
Good luck with everything! Script writing can be tough, so great job on nearly finishing one. I wish you well with your future querying process for LOVESICK!
What an awesome and ambitious plan you have! I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines! You can do it! 💪 My goal for the first quarter is to just finish the first draft. It'll take 4 months so a little over a quarter. I just hope everything goes well lol
Thank you! Also, good luck with your first draft. I believe in you!
Ambitious, but attainable goals. Good stuff. 😊 I’ll start off the year by writing book three and then see where I go from there. Cheers 😊
Thank you, Ian. Good luck with book three!
I love your videos and how in depth you talk about your books! It encourages me to be more productive in my writing, especially with this upcoming year. In 2024, I focused a lot on short fiction and really found my voice when writing them. I even got some of my flash fiction/short stories published in various publications so it really introduced me into the publishing world a bit! For the past few months, I've also been working on a romance book so that's currently my WIP. My favorite project I've done this year was a short story set in a dystopian world but focused on a boy, Daunte, finding out who his real father is, and in turn realizing that not everything in their world is what it appears to be. I'm more of a contemporary writer so writing a sci-fi dystopian was really fun, especially with the extensive world building! My favorite quote from my story: "“My life is full of regrets, Daunte, but loving you was the only sure thing I’d ever done right.” I submitted it to a contest but I'm still hoping to expand on the story and the universe! :)
Thank you so much! I'm glad my videos can be of some value to you :) Finding your voice in your writing is such a wonderful feeling and I'm glad you were able to discover yours. Congrats on getting published as well! If things go well with my short story, I may look into writing more and getting those published too. Also, your dystopia story sounds really interesting. I love that quote you shared!
I’ve been a silent reader of your Wattpad stories for so long. This channel is so cool! Btw, i have become such a nerd about your universe. I have so many questions I wanna ask you lol! Like, who’s the overall more skilled magician: Sebastian, Ajax, or Makaela? And who’s the best hand to hand fighter in the Keyverse? How do you think a fight between Ajax and Apex would go? I’m sorry I’m overwhelming you with my endless questions but I’m just so invested in your characters lmao.
This comment just made me so happy! I'm glad you like the channel! Also ask as many question as you'd like. I may even use them in a video. I'll give you the breakdown on Sebastian vs. Makaela vs. Ajax here tho. You can also follow me over on Instagram and shoot me a dm if you have any more questions! I'll be posting lore dumps and stuff over there in the near future as well. Seb: most disciplined, extremely clever, trains the most, mid-tier magical ceiling, dark magic expert Kae: most talented, relies on her core skills, operates off pure will/instinct, high-tier magical ceiling, light magic expert Ajax: strongest in terms of brute magical strength, brutal/simplistic casting style, low-tier magical ceiling, combat magic expert Kae beats Seb and Ajax. It's a toss up between the boys, but I'll give Seb the edge because I'm biased. As for Ajax vs Apex, that one would be close. I'll have to get back to you on that!
What an amazing and productive year! Congrats!!! I managed to actually get back into writing properly for the first time in a decade this year and I kind of knocked it out of the park. I tracked my writing (novels, planning, fanfic, etc.) and wrote over 750k words this year and the drafts of 4 novels in a 13 book series. Nothing ready for publishing or properly edited yet but it feels amazing! Think I'm gonna aim for a million wordy in 2025 like a psychopath XD Looking forward to seeing more of your journey in 2025!!!!
@@kaeilia Wow, that is amazing! 750k is no easy feat, and neither is finishing 4 drafts. I’m wishing you luck with the 1 million challenge!
Dope videos bro!! And keep writing! From one writer to another!!
@@nicholasbrady3185 Thank you so much!
I needed to hear this from you! Thanks ❤
Congrats! How do you get so much done? Also, will we be getting any Henri Beck chapters anytime soon? I’m loving the book!
@@WeaponizedWords working on getting them out soon!
You’re a superstar! Soo proud of you!!!
I’m a huge fan of the Henri Beck book! Do you know when you’ll be posting the rest of the chapters? I hope it’s soon lol
love your videos :) and DAMN you got so much writing done that's amazing lol I'm still working on my first wip
Dude I’ve been reading your Wattpad books for years and I never knew you had a UA-cam channel! this is so cool! My favorite characters in the Keyverse are probably Iggy, Chase, and Sebastian. I can’t wait for them to all meet each other at some point lol
@@ComicConvict Oh wow! If you don’t mind me asking, how did you come across the channel? And those three will definitely meet in the future! But it won’t be under the best circumstances…
@ Cool! And I found out about the channel through one of my writer friends on Wattpad telling me about it
@ Wait that’s so cool 😭 Well, I’m glad to have you here! Not sure if I’ll continue this video format style for future Keyverse videos, but I do plan on talking about the world a bit more soon.
Hi! I’m a huge fan of your series on Wattpad, especially the Eldenarian Artifacts! I just figured out that you had a UA-cam channel and I just wanted to say that this universe of yours is so cool! Also, when can we expect to see some more chapters of Henri Beck on Wattpad?
Ahhhhh thank you so much! I keep forgetting to post the last chapters of Henri Beck to Wattpad. I'll try and put them up tomorrow! Thanks for reminding me and for the kinds words :)
My wins: I published my 2nd book, I started my UA-cam channel and I wrote about 200K words this year. My favorite line from my sweet romance novella (I'm hoping to publish it in 2025) is: Morning would come soon enough, bringing with it the reality of packing and planning. But tonight, she allowed herself to dream-of ramen bowls steaming at street stalls, the sight of sakura trees bursting with blooms, and the laughter of new friends soon to be made. Tokyo awaited her, and she was ready.
Congratulations on 200k words and good luck with your novella. I really love the lines you shared. You're definitely a talented writer!
@@ldjwrites Thank you! ❤
I definitely can relate. My ideas runneth over 😂. I think of books to write faster than I can write them 😂. I hope this year change for me, productive wise. Btw, your books sounds amazing… I’m not sure if I heard correctly but is “Henry Beck” a stand alone or is it a series? I want to buy that one and definitely “Court of Rooks” they both sound intriguing… continue to prosper Ldj! Good luck to you! ✨🫵🏽📖✍🏽🍀✨
@@Mah_Sh_ell I hope you have a more productive 2025 as well! And Henri Beck is technically a series called The Adventures of Henri Beck but I have zero concrete plans for a sequel yet. I plan on it being like Indiana Jones where I can just come up with a new adventure for him to go on, so theoretically, the series wouldn’t have a definitive “end”. As for the character himself, I have big plans for him in the larger world I’m working on.
Your productivity is insane. I can’t wait for the Ivory Crypt! Also, who’s your favorite character in the Eternal Keyverse?
@@C.JBooks That’s always a tough one to answer! It changes all the time, but out of all my POV characters I have to say Sebastian Tedorof of House Tenebris is my favorite character. He might not be one of the 9 Eternal Keys, but I love his character arc and what he represents. He’s also a badass.
Awesome work ldj! This year I finally finished my chapter outline for my book and for 2025 I plan on finishing and revising it at least once
Sounds like a productive year!
@@patrick_nilan It was very productive!
All your stories sounds so good! 😭 You got me wanting to redownload wattpad just to read your stories LOL. I'm glad that this year had been fruitful for you with writing and I can't wait to see where you go from here and what you're gonna be doing next year and also being writing friends with you! 🙌🏾 I too filmed a writing recap and I plan on filming a 2025 writing goals video next month so if you're curious about what I'm getting up to then you can check out those videos~ 👀🤣
@@northofdakota Thanknyou so much! Looking forward to seeing your recap and goals videos! I have a 2025 goals video in the works as well.
Some favourite lines. Different projects in the brackets: ("My father was the hero of many but before them all he was just mine, my mother’s and my uncle’s.) ("Why should I forgive? Because he’s dead? Because you are now king? Because you finally decided to play brother and hand me back what was always mine to have? I have remained polite and that is good enough.”) (The crowd roared. The heat scorched. The appreciation for death was echoing and frightening...The Raaza laid still by my wobbling feet.) ("Eyy, looky here boys. Fiddle fingers is back.” The three brothers laughed cigarette in hand.) (Lloyd’s presence is my double edged sword. Though he brings me comfort he also reminds me that I don’t have a mother to make me home cooked meals or softly tussles my hair like he does when I leave for school. It was one thing to half ignore the nonexistent relationship with my father but another to talk about my mother. A mother I never knew.) (She’d always been told she was a carbon copy of her grandmother - kinky brown coils glittered with streaks of the sweltering, island sun, eyes warmed with cocoa, and rat ears that never separated from the face...In side by side photograph comparisons Flo could see the distinct resemblance but always expressed outwardly that she couldn’t tell.)
Three projects is a lot! Kudos to youu 🎉 I love the quotes. I really like the phrase “like the smoke choking the sky outside.” Oh man that part about motivation because that is so meeee. Esp when I feel that creative block and doubt whether I can actually write or not. I tend to switch around my hobbies when I feel like that. Like with language learning. One big thing for this year was I actually started really writing stories after having it in the back of mind for so long. Additionally, I submitted poetry for the first time ever. Though that didn’t go anywhere I really love the poems I ended up with in the end. I’ve seen how much I’ve grown in that genre over the years. For 2025, I do also wanna be consistent with writing cause as you said even one line a day I could reach very far by the next year’s end. I want to finish a couple short stories I started this year and I want to finally finish a first draft of one of my novels or novellas so I can print itttt. I look forward to what your journey holds for 2025 🎉
@@kenbryan339 Ahhhh thank you so much Ken! I’m glad you enjoyed the quotes. I’m also happy you were able to resonate with some of what I was saying. Good luck to you in the upcoming year!

Oh wow!! So proud of you for continuing your project! I remember seeing your first video on the process of hashing out the idea; I really hoped you would stick with it. I'm so glad that you did!! <3
Thank you so much! I'm glad I stuck with it as well <#
Oh this was a stellar video. I’m hearing you talk about the submission and I’m over here with my fingers crossed lol. Hoping you get selected. Shout out to your subscriber who sent you the contest. That’s so dope. My project: I’m working on a contemporary romance + building my own fictional city at the same time. One is informing the other. Good to see you back. Take as much time away as you need. I call myself batch recording a few biceps to give myself a break & I’m with you on submission, my luck would have me submit it at 8 but somehow it wouldn’t go through until midnight. Lol. Exciting watching this process with you. My fingers still crossed that you are selected & Congrats on completing finals
Good luck!
Thank you Evan!
Ayeee that’s so exciting
It is!!! Thank you for watching <3
Congratulations 🎉 I hope you win the competition and looking forward to your writing journey 👍🏻
@@maithaali7232 Thank you!!! I hope I win too hahaha. I’ll be coming out with more videos very soon!
If I may offer my humble opinion, two particular murder mystery authors have stood the test of time - Arthur Conan Doyle - aka the author of the Sherlock Holmes series, and Agatha Christie - who wrote about multiple murder mystery stories. My favorite among Agatha Christie is probably Poirot. There are many video adaptations if you are too busy to read the books. But both authors manage to balance a lot of knowledge / evidence drops while not giving away the villain. I'm not sure if this fits your particular style - but I'd recommend them just for being a source of inspiration to help your style. But fantastic work getting this far!
Congratulations on completing your novel… Good Luck to you! I pray you win! 🏆
@@Mah_Sh_ell Ahhhhh thank you so much!!!
