My dad missed my graduation due to his flight getting cancelled (I was out-of-state.) He left a very heartfelt text telling me how proud he was and how much he loved me.

The Hazbin Hotel one wasn't even someone who suggested something heinous, they just questioned the integrity of shipping Husk and Angel Dust, bringing up concerns like age gap coercion (uncertain if they meant between the characters or between the creators and the new wave of fans who jumped on the Hazbin Hotel bandwagon because it was getting actually popular). The toxic members of the community should be ashamed for what their actions have lead to. I won't stoop to their level and try to exile them for having an opinion, but they need to think long and hard about what they want to be known for. Honestly I think it's already too late to change the perception of Hazbin Hotel fans. We are now the community that bullied one of our own into taking their life. We didn't all participate in it, but most of the rest of us didn't do much else. The actions, words, and emotions of the majority of the Hazbin Hotel community, the fake fans who showed up not because they actually like the show, but because it is popular, have sickened me and made me actually ashamed of a group that I can be perceived as part of. I had little to no online interaction regarding Hazbin Hotel leading up to the shows release, I didn't even watch the trailers because I wanted to wait for the full experience. I am both relieved that I was not a contributor, yet disappointed that I could not combat the hatred and toxicity.

They’re making it sound like Ethan had his back turned and was just jumped for no reason. Ethan was punched in the face and fell backward and hit his head on the pavement, that’s how the medical examiner said he died. But he and his friends completely initiated this. I couldn’t figure out how the guys could’ve gotten away with such a terrible crime until I read the case facts. That “gateway pundit” article is shameful.

I think the issue with fandoms is something that's just a general issue for the whole Internet: people wanna be vigilantes to feel good about themselves. They see someone even make the tiniest mistake and they pounce on them because the whole Internet has pretty much commercialized drama to the point where people will tell someone to commit toaster bath over a fuckin' Hazbin Hotel ship. The Hazbin Hotel one wasn't even someone who suggested something heinous, they just questioned the integrity of shipping Husk and Angel Dust, bringing up concerns like age gap coercion (uncertain if they meant between the characters or between the creators and the new wave of fans who jumped on the Hazbin Hotel bandwagon because it was getting actually popular).
The toxic members of the community should be ashamed for what their actions have lead to. I won't stoop to their level and try to exile them for having an opinion, but they need to think long and hard about what they want to be known for. Honestly I think it's already too late to change the perception of Hazbin Hotel fans. We are now the community that bullied one of our own into taking their life. We didn't all participate in it, but most of the rest of us didn't do much else. The actions, words, and emotions of the majority of the Hazbin Hotel community, the fake fans who showed up not because they actually like the show, but because it is popular, have sickened me and made me actually ashamed of a group that I can be perceived as part of. I had little to no online interaction regarding Hazbin Hotel leading up to the shows release, I didn't even watch the trailers because I wanted to wait for the full experience. I am both relieved that I was not a contributor, yet disappointed that I could not combat the hatred and toxicity.

This article from the screenshot in the video is completely misrepresenting the facts, I assume for racial reasons. They’re making it sound like Ethan had his back turned and was just jumped for no reason. Ethan was punched in the face and fell backward and hit his head on the pavement, that’s how the medical examiner said he died. But he and his friends completely initiated this.
I couldn’t figure out how the guys could’ve gotten away with such a terrible crime until I read the case facts. That “gateway pundit” article is shameful.

I think the issue with fandoms is something that's just a general issue for the whole Internet: people wanna be vigilantes to feel good about themselves. They see someone even make the tiniest mistake and they pounce on them because the whole Internet has pretty much commercialized drama to the point where people will tell someone to commit toaster bath over a fuckin' Hazbin Hotel ship. I've been a fan of stuff like Steven Universe for a long time (still am) but I never interacted with fandoms on a major level and I can thank my lucky stars for that.
