You should do everything you can do not have anything sticking out the bottom. You want it as flat as possible down there. Clearance and use will thank you.
I have an old wheel lift has weird chain system to do up down but cool simple design double roller and sprockets on both side I think cylinders goes horizontal but pushes into chain and transfers direction probably increase strength the cylinder is rusted and I have it broke down it was supposed to be winter project has only the cross bar it was given to me I need to find some metal and possibly cylinders and hoses pump may redesign . it was for larger roll back I believe How did you do remote hydraulics
