- Join Erik Anders Lang as he journeys from Los Angeles to San Francisco all in hopes of breaking 90 at Harding Park weeks before the 102nd PGA Championship. Along the Pacific Coast Highway, Erik makes a couple of pit stops at some of his favorite spots including The Spot Kitchen, Dumpling Time, and Four Barrel Coffee. When Erik finally arrives at TPC Harding Park, he’s met by a couple of new friends- the guys behind Random Golf Club San Francisco Chapter as well as the Assistant Pro of Harding Park, Alex Rodriguez. Hot take: when sponsors want to blur out other company logos I spend WAY MORE TIME focusing on the logos and trying to figure out what they're for than I do when they're just ambiently there.

I love the golf travel videos (especially that Scotland special) where it focuses on golf, shows some food, some culture, some drinking, some funny moments just hanging out off the course.... makes me want to organize more golf vacations for myself. It has the same inspiration / effect similar to what Bourdain did for all the locations he filmed at, except centered around golf.
The number of views relative to your normal content speaks volumes... Don’t change Erik, you’re an artist and we respect that!
Its a good video. and i might be wrong, but i can tell this wasnt edited by you or your crew. The shots are amazing, but it feels bottlenecked by the aura of chase. Still loved it
Too blatantly commercial for me personally, not the usual authenticity in my view. Hard to tell what's real and what's product placement. However, the cinematography was excellent, very well shot.
Was thinking the same. I like the videos when they were more organic and unaffiliated

@@TerminatorGolf It could have been less blatant, only my personal opinion. I appreciate that a large demographic may enjoy it, definitely mainstream media-ready. The Scotland series was sublime, the narrative was on point by deeply focusing on the essence of Golf underpinned by Erik's usual authenticity.

necessary, but it should not detract from Erik's previous personality and the authentic filmmaking DNA that we've been accustomed to. For example, Taylormade is a partner but it never feels as if Erik's trying to sell us a Driver. But the product still receives merit and exposure by affiliation and subtle references. He lost me after the blatant credit card shot at 2:32! Plus I don't give a damn about Porsche, why not go for something a little more interesting and classic, again less commercial. So much for making golf less elitist! I'm not comfortable rolling up to play golf with old friends in a Ferrari even if I can.
@@GWills-ys6rd Agree 100%, I have no problem with some videos being sponsored to this extent but if it was to become the norm for Erik it would be a serious shame as you mentioned its about the authenticity, and even though I don't doubt his passion in videos with this much product placement it will be hard for him to get it across to new viewers.

I used to row crew in Lake Merced right next to the course before I played a lot of golf. I didn't know I was beside such an iconic course. I've only played Fleming (the 9 hole course) and saw Harding advertising the Championship over a year ago.
Yes, the vid is a tad more commercial than we are used to coming from RGCF, BUT I really like the way it focused on the small food stops along the way. In this current conditions we are living in, these establishments are really struggling and I love that you put a spotlight on them. Kudos.

EAL, those chilaquiles looked phenomenal. If you get the chance, venture to Northern Arizona to Flagstaff, and eat at Martanne’s (the house that chilaquiles built) before heading to Forest Highlands for a mid-morning tee time. This is coming from a San Diegan, where the chilaquiles and golf aren’t too shabby. Keep up the great videos.
Houston’s muni Memorial Park is the new home to the Houston Open and will be the stop before The Masters. They did a redesign of it and it’s fantastic. Would love to see you get out there someday.

Man's gotta get paid, can't fault him for that. I agree with those of you that say this isn't "typical EAL" content, but it's still great content and I am sure that we can look forward to more original content in the future.

For some of us who have watched EAL since his early stuff on UA-cam, this is definitely more commercial. But as your channel grows, there can be more sponsorship that want to be a part of your success. The video quality is much better. I'm ok with it. Just as long as he doesn't lose his authenticity for story telling that all of us either related to or enjoy watching.

You should come to Santa Cruz and play pasatiempo.
If you come to the bay I would recommend wente over Harding park by far. Harding park is in great condition but other than 18 it is bland. Wente is a bit of a drive but well worth it. Plus the weather is much better, but play early because the wind picks up in the afternoon.

Random Golf Club Films you should. Greg Norman designed it. You play up and over a mountain. Don’t walk it. Also they don’t stack tee times and higher price makes for great pace of play.
After 15 years of public golf I joined 2 private golf clubs. But I quickly realized I was a truly a muni public golfer at heart. I loved dropping in on a new course as a single and meeting the locals and getting to know their lives and their course and being welcomed there. I love that spirit of the CA public player, the casual openness and fun loving nature of the people there. This video is an homage to that spirit.

People think they're geniuses for spotting the Chase product placement. Like no shit, they have some shots of Eric pulling out his Chase card because they are paying him to do so. It's better than a random cut in the middle of the video to him saying, "So I wanna talk about Chase Sapphire..." like literally every other sponsored UA-camr.
The channel is growing and sponsors are noticing too. These guys deserve to get paid and if they means a literal two second shot of a credit card, while still maintaining the sprit of the channel, then I think we are all winning here.

Residents play $40 to walk its always packed. I don’t think the course feels special. It’s nice but they are better courses if ur gonna pay $120
7:00-5:30 ten minute intervals (24 players per hour x 10.5 hours is 252 players...give or take a few for some pace blocks throughout the day). We were 100% booked everyday since we reopened May 4 - early July. And this is without the Fleming 9 open...add at least another 50-75 rounds over there on a normal day...place is buzzin!
