  • During this rattlesnake hunt guided by Beau Martonik, we were able to catch 20 different timber rattlesnakes in the PA Wilds. One was a 48" black phase keeper that we cooked up and ate. Beau Martonik hosts the podcast East Meets West Hunt, focusing on creating adventure hunts from the east to the west coast.

That sure was a badass video . It sure did suck that it had to end. Congrats on your timber rattlesnake. I'm going to check his podcasts out as soon as I get off UA-cam. Thanks for sharing👍

I knew they were called gardener snakes, straight from the mouth of a snake hunter!

If you've never called them gardener snakes, I'm not sure where you grew up.

Great video that is pretty cool I would like to try that someday we don’t have rattlesnake hunting here in West Virginia. I am into beekeeping and trapping I have a UA-cam channel about it. It is called struggling Beekeeper Mark Cottrell check it out if you get a chance I would appreciate it. I have only had my channel about 2 months now.

I did check out your channel. Always nice to support other trappers, that's for sure. Thanks for watching. Depending on how far you are away, maybe you could make a trip up to PA for a rattlesnake hunt.

ive had experience with snakes but you guys group together like flies you need room guys please you make me so nerves really talking loudy just makes the snake mad to worse get it one day make a mistake get bit cuz of it being bunched up together you guys move way to fast slow down i was so worried over this snake might go crazy

I mean I did say there were 4 of us that have never been rattlesnake hunting before. I'm not sure how patient, calm, and quiet you were for the first time but yeah we were probably a little anxious and excited to see and handle the snakes, moving too fast, and grouping up too much. All in all, we were pretty safe, no one came close to getting bit, and we had a blast. For a first try, I'd say it was a success. If experienced hunters (snake or other) continue to put down newbies like this, interest will fall, the numbers will dwindle, and the sport will be lost to antis. Try to keep that in mind, and promote hunting instead of condemning it. If you are genuinely trying to help with these comments, you might want to reconsider how you word your messages.

So your telling me a male timber rattlesnake hatches with 21 or more subcaudal scales? All I was trying to say is I think when they are younger (way below the 42"legal limit) they may still be male but have less than 21 subcaudal scales.
