@@Leatherwoodoutdoors Your video brought back memories of my early deer hunting years with the bow in Sizerville Park. In the 1970's there were lots of rattlesnakes in the park. After seeing one while walking, though, I always found myself looking down most of the time instead of looking up for deer, lol. My friends and I would pick them up with very long sticks just to hear them rattle. A guy ran one over with his pickup truck one day, and it was 52" long. That was the biggest one that we ever heard of in that area.
Good clear video. Excellent explanation on how the tongs don’t hurt the snakes. I spent 40+ yrs in the Black Forest area every Summer. Was up last week, came across several Rattlers at the usual areas on the mountain up behind Black Forest Inn. Their dens have been in the same places since I was a kid. Just love watching the snakes. Good video guys.
They have faramones or pharamones or however it’s spelled just like honeybees and therefore that’s how they can make their way back to the nest same w/copperheads, that’s why if ya try’n clear out a nest you should keep an eye on it because they’re likely to come.
I spent a good bit of time in Potter County as a kid. My dad loved this area and it did not take long for me to feel the same way, I saw plenty of bear and deer but I have to say I have never seen an elk in all the time I was there. I cannot get over the size of those Bull Elk you filmed. So glad I found this channel. Beautiful camp you have! Thank you for the videos!
Love the content, there are a lot of rattlers over in the Marionville area. I see them crossing the roads around Loleta and spring creek area all the time.
Awesome video. For sure going to book a stay at the Mountain View lodge. 100% Sheetz. Speaking of Sheetz was awesome to meet you Nugent at the Sheetz in Wexford back in April. I’m going to put a vote in for apple crisp also.
I was raised in Emporium and recognize the areas you and your friends search for rattlesnakes and the different wildlife you have in your videos. After 36 years with the Bureau of Forestry, thank you for being sensitive to the flora and fauna there. Apple crisp!
I'm glad you put this video out, I was wondering if it's that time of year? great times with great friends, besides seeing tons of rattle snakes 🐍 what else can you ask for
Sheetz definitely and apple pie..lol..great video guys..keep up the good work..we visit up there every year to see the elk..alot of the road footage looks familiar..we are from Hancock Maryland..
Lol I just came across this video. I live in Elk County. The rattle snakes are very real I see them on the roads all the time up here in the east branch area.
Enjoy your video. We live in sw PA, camp in Sterling Run. We would have said Sheetz until a couple of weeks ago - they're closing the Sheetz in Emporium. Fingers crossed Wawa or MinitMart takes over.
Ahhh yes I know that area well. Dale was the previous owner. Got some good stuff at his yard sale. My camps only a few miles from ya The real debate should be the tavern or the willows…..
Oh I'm with John, apple crisp all the way! And here in NC. it's Sheetz, although I don't think we even have Wawa's. And they are everywhere. You can't through a dead cat without hitting one. There are 3 within 5 minutes of where I live. And I agree, wawa is a dumb name. Lol
Hello from Butler County Pa. It's been a while since I've up to Elk Co. I've never ran into a rattle snake before I know they are here I don't have the balls to look for them.
Definitely Sheetz. I was in a Lancaster Wawa over the weekend and wasn't impressed. They are starting construction on a Wawa here in Centre county so we will have them ,Sheetz and Rutters all together. Sheetz is demoing and rebuilding even bigger with a drive through. Good to see another LWO video.
Definitely Sheetz, I'm from Cambria County now, but moved from Washington County, know a few folks that are from Clarion County, your neck of the woods, and a few more that have cabins out towards the area in this video, and the Grand Canyon of PA area. Sheetz actually started in this section of PA, and my wife's sister is a DM for Sheetz and is friends and hung out with the Sheetz Brothers. My friend who I used to but guns from at his gun store knows the owner of the channel and his family. I'll bet some of my other friends do as well.
check Sheetz gas prices on the 4th and what they stand for. Why would you pick anything else. Always love these videos! also means hopefully archery and Muzz. videos we can look forward to. Maybe a honey harvest this year?
John, As an Eastern PA guy, I get it. Wawa never had the selection that Sheetz did and since they switched from Amoroso rolls, their hoagies have been subpar. I go to Wawa every day and it has a cult behind it, but really, it's just meh. Come at me Philly bros.
You know where the devils elbow is, are camp was right up the hill from that. My brother shot a huge bear up there about 10 years ago. They pass the head around the bar so everyone could get a look a at it. The locals was hunting that bear for years, my brother step out the truck walked out 50 yards and shot it off the moutain side crossing a hollar.
I was under the impression that elk didn’t lose their antlers, but those guyz looked like they velvet on them. We don’t get them over here 👈 in the western PA/northern Panhandle of WV so now I’m riddled???
Interesting video. I thought these were an endangered species in PA. About Wawa.. I'm from the burbs of Philly and I hate it, total garbage. Keep the Flyers comments to yourself though, lol.
Hope you enjoy this video. Settle the debates from the video in the comment section. We want to hear from you!
Any grouse sitings? I went to high-school with John, Sweeney, and Greevy.
@@nickolasp6580 cool! did not see any grouse this time.

Good to see you made it to camp!!! Was hoping to get to meet y'all this year. Maybe next year won't be so busy!
Good times as always, even if the snakes are laying low. Also, nice touch with the video montage during the second half of the vid.
I live in Columbus OH and Sheetz are popping up everywhere. BTW beautiful scenery.

Man I miss PA, good memories hunting in my beautiful state
Sheetz, Apple pie. Western Pennsylvania all the way!!
Pretty countryside. Stiller fans are jagoffs, though.
sheets for sure, we actually have both wawa and sheets in the northeast around the pocono/scranton area
What a great area!!! Wawa of course. Closest Sheetz is about an hour away. Apple crisp made in a Dutch oven over hot coals!!
That sounds ok.

Man that elk was awesome!! Biggest rattler we caught here in Jersey was 6 feet with 13 rattles and a button. Be careful guys

WAWA ALL THE WAY!!!!
Out in California I used to do this midday they'd be underneath the car rocks old fallen trees to keep cool.
Sheets & apple pie 🥧 for the win.
Your "Lodge" is my greatgrandfather Gores home. It once was down along RT 120 and was moved to it's current location.
@@RodLyon-o7h yep! We have pictures from when it was moved.
I spend a good bit of time in the woods in pa. Fortunately, ive never ran into a rattler that big 😅
Was at my camp near Emporium and seen 5 rattlers and a CopperHead. Always Sheetz and Apple Pie.
😮😮😮
Great, now I'll have snake dreams, lol.

I live in Philly and I wish we had sheets instead of wawa. Did a lot of work in york, reading, and other places out west PA. I like sheets better
💯 SHEETZ
Speaking from the North east, sheetz all the way. I think just Philly likes wawa. Will there be anymore snake videos?
@@PAoutdoorsman1090 probably won't be any more this year.
Bucks County, Wawa. They were great back 20 yrs ago, but now they have become more streamlined. Get you in and out fast. Will always be Wawa & Eagles.
I'm very familiar with your area. Hunt out of a cabin in Keating, Pa. Check out Montours... I've seen a lot of rattlesnakes on that mountain.
Over here in the poconos we have both but prefer Sheetz and apple pie

Bucees!
Went to slippery rock U - beautiful country.
Rutters and Apple Pie!!
The willows. I'm near the Wharton.
I live in South Jersey, I'd love to have a Sheetz, and it's apple crisp.
Sheetz has the better breakfast options, and Wawa the better supper menu. Also Sheetz has the better rewards on fuel
My Clearfield county vote is Sheetz and apple crisp!
Marienville Pa guy… so Sheetz
Looks like a good place for a taurus judge 410
I like both Apple crisp and Apple pie.
Sheetz obviously. Wawa doesn't even have fryers. And no pets at the lodge is a bummer..
Yeah the pet or no pet was a big decision. Being new to the airbnb scene they elected not too.
I tried looking up your place to stay and I wasn't able to find it.
Driftwood saloon has some of the best cheesesteaks
Butler sheetz no diggity no doubt
