You're the only one in youtube who has a complete tutorial on "How to create a rig" from scratch, most animators asume too much,
they come up with a completely rigged character and they miss the point of teaching the first technical steps in order to create one. Well done and thank you.
What an amazing class, please continue, I'm excited waiting for the next class, congratulations!!! 😍
Oh I've been waiting for you so much I'm so glad your video has been uploaded. 😍😍😍
I followed your other rigging series and I loved how you explained things! I'm very excited about this one :0
Thank you Juhas. You, Mike Watts and Oli have helped me a lot with rigging in TBH.
Dude you are a legend for providing such an amazing detailed tutorial for beginners like me! Thank you very much kind sir!
That’s genius with that patch staying behind the line art
I'm still learning your on a series of tutorials, found a new, happy!~
Thank you so much!! I'm making my second proper rig and your tutorials have helped so much!!
Thank you so much for the video! It's super helpful!
Love to see another upload
Would also love more animlogs!
More animlogs coming soon, feel motivated this year :)
es asombroso, estoy ancioso por ver la segunda parte, wey eres el mejor gracias por enseñar los pilares del riggg. porfavor sube la parte 2 :C
part 2 coming soon, just have to edit this monster (anothee 1hr+ long video)
Thank you so much
You are amazing! my idol! !
Thank you for this amazing video!
Glad you liked it :)
Man, the background music were so good, makes learning so pleasant.
stock music ftw :D
We need your lessons.
I'm assuming this works the same way for lineless artstyle? just ignore the lineart node?
It kind of does. The main difference is the way patches are built at joints when no lineart is present (if you remove lineart, patches will create thin cuts around shapes - visible in the render view).
The Gumroad charging feature has not allowed me to purchase now for 4 days no matter what browser I use and how many times I clear my cache and use a different payment method ?? Any ideas why?
Hi, sadly it's beyond my powers, can't help you here :( Would double check with their faq or support :O
After struggling for a day to get past the Ear patch part.I realized that the cutter node in XXPatch was inverted
greqt video, just wondering how do you draw the head so symmetrical? are you using a script?
Hi! I see that your using the latest Harmony with the find and replace script, did you happen to edit the code? I can't seem to get it to work. I get an error popup with "Syntax is not valid: 5 : illegal character". I scrubbed through all the videos on youtube that cover the script and all the people who haven't been able to get it to work haven't found a solution. Did you ever encounter this problem when you upgraded to the latest version of Harmony?
If you're using the script I think you're using, replace all of the quotations in it (“) and (”) with (") i.e. instead of:
d.title = “Find and Replace”;
it'll be:
d.title = "Find and Replace";
Sometime copying it from a page has it like that, so TB doesn't recognize it as a proper quotations character (in 20 at least). You've probably figured it out by now, but replying just in case anyone else has that issue.
Hello, How did you create a new parameter at 30:25. Please help
I have this for an assignment. I am so screwed.
4:24 did he say out patch or auto patch? Because I can't find out patch anywhere on Toon Boom Harmony.
Hi brother. I've one doubt, while creating a 360⁰ rig, when the character is facing right his right hand will be in front, when he faces left vice versa. my issue is that , how to move the hands and leg part into the back for that particular pose, that is if he is facing right my left hand and leg should be at the back, but while he is facing front it shouldn't be at back of the torso..how to manage that.. sorry for the bad English .am a beginner at toon boom, any help
you go to the topmost peg of that limb, and ALT+Arrow Up or Arrow Down to move it in Z axis. You want to move it only by small increments tho (something like 0.001) or else rig will work funky whenever camera moves.
Hi, Juhas, If I buy Blank Guy - Toon Boom Harmony Rig, will this compatible with Harmony 22 essentials version. Thank you.
Hi, sadly it will not. The rig was built using Harmony Premium and works only under the Premium version. In order for it to work fully you would need the Node View which Essentials doesn't have :(
@@juhastv Thank you
I wonder what is that toolbar? under the tools toolbar?
I activated it long ago while playing around with extended scripting api docs.toonboom.com/help/harmony-20/scripting/extended/index.html
@@juhastv thanks, found it!
@ Great :) These tools are pretty clunky but seem like a great starting point for new scripts.
hi Juhas, hopefully you see this but have you covered shadows on a rig? If not, do you plan on doing so? Thanks
Hey, you mean rim shadows around the body? Apart from peg-transformation node (offsetting a character and turning it into shadow) there isn't any clean way to do it other than playing around in AfterEffects in comp :O Maybe I'll cover it one day but just so you know, in the studio I work in shadows and highlights required own dedicated department to do just that :D
@@juhastv Thanks for the reply! But I meant shadows on the character, like directional shadows! Not around
@@dman_games yup, that's what I meant :D You can do two types of shadows on a character - just a simple offset done with peg-transformation where you offset the entire character on top of existing character - mask the offset inside the boundries of the original's shape and then convert this offset into a shadow with shadow node.
This method will cover the lineart though so if your rig has lines in a different color than black, you will notice it. Same method can be used to create cheap rimlight on a character :)
Anything more sophisticated (the second option in toonboom) is usually done in hand drawn.
There is a third option where you can add a shadow shape to each single drawing inside the rig but this would affect any patches and would result in many anti aliasing lines :D
@@dman_games but to be completely honest, you're better off doing compositing and shadows in after effects or davinci as working with png sequence is just easier :D
@@juhastv ah okay, thanks for your replies! I’ve worked on a frame by frame animation and ive been making shadows by making lowers opacity drawings with the blur node, and on top of being a but disorganized...was kind of a nightmare haha. I’ve actually been exporting pngs and using hitfilm for comp so I’ll check out how I can do shadows with that, good idea. But how would you do shadows on a character part in the middle of a png? do you export the character i into separate part? like torso, head, etc. depending on how detailed you want the shadows to be in the comp program?
does anyone have the find and replace script he's using? I tried to find the older video he said he got it form but cant find it anywhere
forums.toonboom.com/t/find-replace-script/2246/4 - comment from marcus78
@@juhastv thanks really appreciate the help!
when I upload a picture of the top half of a body, if I put bones through an (outstretched) arm and move the arm/bones it drags the edge of the torso with. It, how do I make it move seperate to the body , it is a one layer pencil drawing that has been scanned and uploaded. I Would be massively grateful for a reply. What seems like such an easy fix I cannot work it out, thanks
Hi, deformers inside toonboom don't really work well with bitmaps. The newer version of toonboom has some kind of bitmap tools but i'm stuck on version 20 of the software.
I suggest recreating the drawing in vectors and splitting it into riggable parts. Without the split the results will be ... as the ones you have.
Or, if you're trying to achieve a pencil (bitmap) look - I would suggest using tools meant for bitmap rigging like moho or after effects. But this one still requires splitting it into separate parts/layers. Hope that helps.
@@juhastv gratefull for the reply, i will research now. I uploaded it as a jpeg file does that mean its not a bitmap, is a bitmap a file type thanks
@@ronniebingbong9849 Bitmap as in type of a image file (made out of pixels) so that means PNGs, JPGs, BMPs etc.
Vectors are math coordinates that end up rendering as a bitmap in the final step (rendering). Toonboom drawings by default are vectors (you can use bitmaps tho).
Also recommend the "vector vs bitmap" topic on youtube as people can explain this stuff better than I can
Cheers and good luck
@@juhastv thanks for reply, its still happening with paint tool in harmony, if I draw a U shape and put bones trough it when I move an end is drags stuff with it. im not sure its bitmap thats the problem, this is odd.
@@ronniebingbong9849 Oh, and you sure its the envelope type of deformer? There are 4 types of deformers and the default one makes the starting deformation point move the whole drawing.
Can i buy it using Paypal?
Hey, I activated paypal on my gumroad for the next 72 hours (prefer not to use paypal overall) so all should be good now :3
@@juhastv Thank you.
This video would be so helpful if I could see what you were selecting. The video quality is very pixelated
I did everything step by step.18:37 It isn't happening. i can't draw a box
Hi Juhas, please reupload your first first series ( Girl chracter rigging) which you recently deleted . I almost completed the series, plz upload it otherwise my all hardwork will be wasted. Thanks in advance.
