Sometimes it's jealousy because you have something or are doing something that they wish they had/were doing, sometimes they sincerely believe you're wrong and they're right and they MUST correct you, and others are just bored and lonely and have nothing else better to do and enjoy making others as miserable as they are. Torryn sounds like number 2 to me. He seems to sincerely think you're illegally capturing dangerous spiders, and then mispreading information about the dangers of them when you make fun of how useless they are, which he probably sees as being dangerous for other people who might not take them seriously. I don't think he understands that 1- you're absolutely NOT breaking any laws and you really don't seem like the type who'd be irresponsible like that and 2- you completely acknowledge and respect the dangers of these spiders, but you'd like to educate people and help them with their overly intense fear of the funnel webs and show that yeah, their bite is bad but you won't die and they're slow dumpy little guys who couldn't chase you or climb anything to come get you, even if they wanted to (which they don't).
