Khabib is one of those guys everyone roots for to win. He's so humble, so disciplined and respectful. And all that plus his absolute dominance in the sport, thats why people rarely root against him. And when an opponent is talking trash to khabib, he stands his ground like a G, then beats them. No facade, no games. He's really about that. The example Andrew gave with Floyd mayweather... even though mayweather is also great at his sport, he intentionally paints himself as the villain to promote the fight. His whole gimmick of "money mayweather," people see him flaunting and they want him to lose. Then if he fights a mexican opponent, he intentionally disses them coming in with a sombrero to promote the fight. So then it stirs interest but it also has ppl feeling like "alright, dude is getting too cocky, he needs to get beat so he can shut up." To floyd's credit, he thrived as the villain
Personally I love when fighters won’t be talking all that shit. I’ve done martial arts and mma for 11+ years of my life and don’t get me wrong, talking your shit and then absolutely destroy your opponent, it feels damn good. @Kevin D Thats funny. Jones is a cheater. BJ Penn has like 14+ losses in his record. Cormier lost 3 times. DJ fought weak competition. Cejudo reign was too short. The only guy that can be put with Khabib in a GOAT Convo is GSP, having the advantage of a longer body of work in ufc while Khabib having the advantage of being undefeated and more dominant.
@Kevin D I didn't criticize GSP, in the contrary I said he is the only one that can be put in a goat Convo with Khabib. But to correct you, he had a shot at the vacant belt after 2 fights in ufc and lost to Hughes. Then after a 5 fight win streak he got a shot again at the belt and won. He lost his first title defense against Serra, then had to win 2 fights and got a shot at the belt for the 3rd time and defended his title 9 times. Khabib won 9-in-a-row just to get his first and shot at the belt.
@Kevin D I can recall several fighters that have the same amount of title defenses like Khabib, that's not what seperates Khabib from the crowd. He dominated and cleaned the most stacked division before getting his shot at the title winning 9 fights in a row. You cant say the same about Cejudo, he fought in a weak division, still did not clean it and lost to DJ and Benavidez, and won his title via split decision. His only recognizable achievement is being a 2 division champ. Khabib never lost, never had a draw or split decsion and just crushed the competition.
Khabib's lack of trash talk reminds me to the phrase "when you're talking, you're not listening" that's smart, let the opponents talk big and you focus on yourself
I think Khabib is partly a draw because of the Floyd-People wanna see undefeated guy lose-effect but there’s also something very awe inspiring about him. Something about an extremely disciplined warrior from the mountains of Dagestan is so fuckin cool to me (and many others). It’s almost movie character-ish. Obviously he’s also incredibly talented in the cage and maybe the most dominant fighter MMA has ever seen. The fact that he’s fairly one-dimensional and every single opponent knows how he’s gonna fight but still falls victim to it adds to that for me also. When you combine all of that, you have a huge character & the fact he’s kinda awkward, doesn’t really like media and is almost unintentionally popular just reinforces his character and why people like him. He’s almost the perfect foil for the western culture of excess and trash-talking, which is very refreshing for many.
bc connor chats shit and lies everytime he opens his mouth whereas khabib rarely makes threats but when he does he follows through. thats why its scary when he threatens people because what he says happens
yeh just you muslims, Khabib chills with Ramzan Kadyrov a well known mass murderer, Khabib incited violence on France after a teacher was beheaded there....great model alhumdilah
@Kevin D he made a promise to his mother. You think someone like khabib is scared of another human? And jones and silva are ped users so they didn’t respect the sport therefore they’re automatically disqualified from the goat convo. No one talks about Lance Armstrong anymore yet the MMA community likes talking about jones. What a joke.
When you watch Joe for a while you realise this guy is just committed to truth, he always gives an honest assessment of himself. That's a large part of why he's unique, most people can't kill ego even if it would make them successful.
Only people from Dagestan want him to win?? What a ignorant statement. There is a reason BBC just named him World Sport Start of the year 2020. His fan base transcends nationality, race and religion. He is loved all around the world. Khabib is the Man. And we would be so lucky if his mom agrees for him to fight one more time.
He's old and out of shape. Plus he's shorter than Logan, which puts him at a big disadvantage. If it were based on pure experience, Mike Tyson would be the best boxer in the world today.
Ten years ago, he probably would have mopped the floor with him, striking or grappling doesn't matter. But age seems to have caught up with him bad, so I guess Rogan is realistic about it.

@Kevin D The goat of excuses like my foot was a balleeewn 🤣🤣🤣 Your boy was smashed fair and square by Khabib stay salty Conor fanboy 🥴🥴🥴
