I think that the only park where a Nightmare Before Christmas ride would be Hollywood Studios. With all the new lands and rides, they've in a unique position to house any interesting rides and IPs that wouldn't fit elsewhere in the parks. I'm really curious to see what they do with the old Art of Animation/Star Wars Launch Bey area of the park.

My thoughts exactly! I think the area behind Star Wars Launch Bay would be perfect for a Halloween Town expansion that connects Toy Story Land and Sunset Boulevard. In addition to the dark ride idea, I'd go one step further and retheme Rock 'N' Roller coaster to Oogie Boogie's casino lair! Not only would a permanent Halloween Town land be awesome, but it would make for some amazing Christmas overlays during the holidays.

I remember going to WDW a few years ago for the first time since I was a child. I was waiting in line for Haunted Mansion, as you do, when I spotted it off in the distance: Rapunzel's tower. Holy hell, I got so impossibly hyped. I told my girlfriend "After Haunted Mansion, we're making a beeline to whatever Tangled attraction is over yonder!" Because, y'see, I'm a huge Tangled fan. I'm not even that big of a Disney person, but for some reason, Tangled hit me different. I love that movie and I couldn't wait to see what kind of magic the Imagineers had cooked up for it.
Maybe it was a dark ride, which Tangled would _really_ lend itself to. Oh, maybe it was a restaurant that was a complete recreation of The Snuggly Duckling? Or, hell, I'd take an elaborate meet-and-greet spot, with Rapunzel and Flynn face characters at the ready, with Maximus being represented by an actual costumed white horse and a color-changing Pascal animatronic that responded to your voice via a cast member behind the scenes. Maybe there was even a themed shop that sold lanterns and frying pans?? Oh shit, man, I couldn't wait! I booked it out of the Mansion and flew in the direction of the tower to find...
    ...oh, it's bathrooms.
My favorite animated Disney flick since Hunchback, one of the very few animated Disney movies I even still care about anymore, the pioneer that ushered in Disney's modern renaissance and rekindled the dying spark that was the Disney animated musical, had sole representation in the parks as the place where parents change shit-filled diapers.
So yeah, more Tangled _anything_ would be nice.

Gotta love that forced perspective lol. I totally agree with you though - they could easily do a tower drop ride with Rapunzel's tower, maybe even a kid-friendly sized one since so many littles want to try the "big kid rides" but the Guardians ride and Tower of Terror are too much for them. Put it over by the bathrooms, add a meet and greet area for Flynn and Raps (Gothel could m&g there during Halloween), maybe a little stand for themed snacks and drinks (hazelnut soup, anyone?) similar to the Beauty and the Beast one in Fantasyland, and there you go. Tangled also could've been a beautiful dark ride - can you imagine the lantern scene we could've had???

As much as I love COP...that's pretty damn good. I feel like COP as it is may be starting to feel dated, and this would be a great way to modernize it and increase popularity. Plus, the ride itself isn't kept up very well - the animatronics fail pretty often due to their age, same thing that's happening over at Splash Mountain - which is part of why we're going to see it get a facelift soon. I honestly think this might be the answer to that issue.

While I get your argument for Encanto being in Frontierland because of the Spanish architecture, Frontierland is still meant to be about the American West, a desert region. Colombia and the US are two different countries with different histories, and Colombia is a tropical country so the environment found in the movie would fit better in Adventureland. But I'm all for an Encanto Mystic Manor, it'd be a perfect fit for Encanto and Mystic Manor is too cool of a ride concept to use only once.
Also, the Pull the Lever, Kronk thing isn't just in the movie, it's a recurring gag in the Emperor's New School TV series as well which I grew up watching and it's one of the reasons why the show was so great besides more Patrick Warburton and the fact Chaca in the TV series was voiced by the same voice actress as *MELON LORD*

I love a Mulan themed dark ride that’s similar to Radiator Spring’s Racers. Obviously the ride vehicles would have to be different (shaped like carts or horses maybe), but I think it would so cool if it went from a dark ride going through Mulan’s house/garden/shrine and then the army camp and mountains, then transitioning into a thrill section to get away from the avalanche like in the movie, then into another dark ride section that shows the emperor’s palace and the final battle sequence from the movie. I’d hope for a lot of physical sets and practical effects (I’ll always prefer them over screens in rides), but I just really want Mulan to get some more love in the parks, it’s one of my favorite Disney movies. My design is that guests line up in casita. Which you can see some fun details like Bruno's mouse footprints on the floor, or look through the cracks of the family portrait.
After that you ride on a trackless ride. Each car is based on Mirabel crochet but each car represents each family member.
First scene, Mirabel talking about where's Antonio go.
Second scene will be Pepa and Felix brings the clouds in, accidentally created landslides and block guests 'exits'. At the moment, Luisa comes and lift up guest (A bit similar to the rise of the resistance elevator).
Third scene, we come to Isabella's room and she sing a song.
Fourth scene, a new soundtrack for Dolores and Camilo. Half of us enter Dolores's world, the other enters Camilo's world.
Fifth scene is prophecy from Bruno and lead us back to the first floor.
Final scene, finish ride in Antonio's room. There's will be a jungle themed restaurant.

There WAS supposed to be a Fantasyland dark ride for Sleeping Beauty...in WDW. The original idea was not to duplicate the Disneyland dark rides, but to have unique Fantasyland dark rides that would serve the same purpose (Snow White: scary, Peter Pan: magical and beautiful, Mr. Toad: fun and crazy). Ichabod Crane was supposed to fill the "fun and crazy" slot, Mary Poppins the "magical and beautiful" one, and Sleeping Beauty the "scary" one. But they ended up duplicating DL's dark rides anyway.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice Ride is a great idea, but I for one always thought a ride based around Fantasia could be amazing.
Perhaps it could start off w/Sorcerer Mickey stealing Yensid's hat, falliing asleep & dreaming of the different musical segments, from the Nutcracker Suite's Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies, to the Pastoral scene, to Dance of the Hours w/ dancing hippos & crocodiles. Some slightly scary scenes w/the creation & dinosaur battle scene & finally Night on Bald Mountain's Chernabog.
All the while, the brooms Mickey brought to life can be filling up the room w/water. As Sorcerer Mickey finally wakes up, Yensid stops the chaos w/a spell like at the end of the segment. Finally, as the hat is returned to the sorcerer, you & Mickey are "shown" the exit & the ride ends.
No idea how you could star a ride in an omnimover, flood it & then unflood it, but such a feature would be well-worth experiencing!
Now, where could such an attraction be housed is the next question.

Your Hunchback idea has QUICKLY become my most-wanted IP attraction!! A ride for my favorite animated Disney movie? yes, please!! Also, to go BEYOND what ideas you brought to the table, I think you could add a bit more to really, truly make this an impressive E-Ticket attraction! Picture this: you have the drop tower facade and function that you mentioned. You could either do a drop at the beginning and then have that flow into a boat segment that takes you through scenes from the movie in a Pirates sort of fashion (the most obvious scene to include for me would be the Court of Miracles), then a transition to a more traditional dark ride with maybe slight thrill as the story ascends to the climax with the war for Notre Dame and then transition that to the end of the ride that heads into a scene with Quasimodo being celebrated by the people and Esmeralda and Phoebus getting together or after the Notre Dame war scene (which, by the way, may have an associated scent a la Rome Burning), the ride ascends once again into what will be another drop sequence that may or may not be quite as intense as the first with the final battle taking place as a show scene, Frollo falling, and perhaps us and Quasimodo being caught before we fall all the way as well.
There's probably bugs to iron put, but I think we could really have something here!!

Over at Disneyland (west coast, what what), you can replace Autopia with a mix of outdoor jungle (perhaps with those pirate dudes), leading to indoor element (facing Tamatoa), staying indoor to a showdown with Tefiti. Then, when the heart is returned (and this is where it gets awesome), the track takes riders out to the lagoon (where the Nemo submarines are) for an exciting splash down before being led back to the beginning with nice Tefiti and "We know the way" playing in the background.

I think the easiest place to put a year round Nightmare Before Christmas attraction in Disneyland would be where the phantom boats used to be over by the Matterhorn. There's nothing going on there right now except a shaded seating area that no one knows is even there so we're really not losing anything. It's still technically part of Fastasyland but it's out of the way enough that it won't mess with the main theming of the area. There's already a bunch of trees in the area that could easily be themed to be the different doors to the different holidays. They could set the ride its self far enough back that you won't see the actual ride building and have a queue that snakes through the trees past the holiday doors just like Jack does in the movie. There's also enough space to actually do something fun with it and it'll help better utilize an area of the park that doesn't get enough love. If Disney DOESN"T put a Nightmare ride in that area then they're stupid and should hire me as an Imagineer because the more I type the more I realize just how genius this idea actually is and now I wish I could jump to the universe where it actually exists. Disney, make it happen. I will pay good money for this experience.

      @KassMcCormack 2 роки тому

@@t.b.gonzalez3581 Actually, I think Nightmare Before Christmas would be better because it would disrupt everything else the least. They could easily build the show building on the other side of the monorail track and they could build it to be multi-level to save on the overall footprint. We already know it's going to be a super popular ride just based on the waits for Haunted Mansion Holiday so we can justify building a longer and more immersive queue kind of like the one for Rise of the Resistance to cover the space between the main path and the ride building.

Why WED Imagineering has not hired Dallin, or us arm chair imagineers who actually care and have the creativity to make the park better, is something I cannot understand.
I do agree Fantasyland in Tokyo trumps ours hands down, and I’m not opposed to using IP since theme parks seem to thrive on it, but I would argue attractions such as Maelstrom were awesome because it was both original and based on actual Norse mythology.
I could see Tangled and Encanto, but I need to make a comment regarding Notre Dame. It is a great film with an equally great score; I was an altar server and lector in the Choir of the Canons (the principal altar) on pilgrimage, and my stomach dropped seeing the Cathedral ablaze. Since it is such a sacred place, I wouldn’t be cool with an attraction in that way (Sidenote; I’d love to do a blog or even a book on the theology of the Disney films, but I’d need way more background on Walt’s spirituality). Greece would definitely be something that could work, and that food….
Fantasia COULD be an ride, but I’d argue it to be more something in the like of philharmagic but with 4D to make it more immersive.
Because I’m old school, I almost wish there was an entire park devoted just to older attractions, so that they can keep going.
Lastly, in terms of Nightmare, I think doing the tree with the door is simple enough for attracting guests.
I may not be as competent as an armchair imagineer as Dallin, but hopefully I offered food for thought.

Ride around IPs are fine as they can fit anywhere and never be too overbearing. The issue is when Disney makes entire lands out of IPs. The major problem here is that IPs are only financially viable in the parks for as long as kids know about them. In 10 years, kids visiting the parks most likely won't know what Cars is, probably won't care so much about the MCU, possibly have no interest in Star Wars. That in turn means those three lands alone will be in jeapordy as they begin appealing less to guests who will want to spend less money on the merch, in turn causing more problems around the theming of those lands. The reason Disneyland and WDW have been so popular is that the lands weren't focused on a singular IP and were instead focused on a general idea that you could slide certain IPs into. This is why New Orleans Square, Frontier Land, Adventureland, and Main Street have remained pretty much untouched and yet still have a lot of popularity, where even now, people are more interested in buying merch from those lands that aren't really based around a singular IP and instead fit more within the land they got it from.

I don’t want a lot from Disney, there’s just one thing I need: for them to dig up the Nemo subs and clone Journey to the Center of the Earth from TDS, only themed around Atlantis: the Lost Empire. You can pipe in chatter from the team overhead while in the elevator and keep the steampunk elements intact. You could have Mrs. Packard do a sarcastic safety spiel voiceover in the queue. And most importantly, the majority of the ride can finally be the creature feature that the filmmakers originally wanted to make from the get-go, with the arrival in Atlantis happening at the end (the ride vehicles can all light up crystal blue on the return journey to the station). It’s Indy Adventure, it’s a dark ride, it’s a thrill ride, it’s an e-ticket, and I expect it on my desk by Monday

I still think a walk through area based off Kingdom Hearts needs to exist- either Twilight Town, Hollow Bastion, or Destiny Islands.
    Or, hear me out
Imagine going to Epcot and in between all the fountains you spot a mini displays of all the worlds kinda like the KH 2 & 3 (before you hop into the gummy ship mini games, they all have 3d models of each world having in space). Because all of it is IP that Disney owns and it makes sense to showcase the world and the Disney worlds. I just know it in my heart and soul Square Enix probably wouldn’t let it happen outta bitterness after the 2008-2014 window where Disney themselves ditched Kingdom Hearts over ip fights (this is why between KH 2 - 3D there were no new worlds) and later the restricted usage over Frozen (Disney made them scrap multiple better bosses and actual new scenes for Frozen 1). I just want to see all those worlds brought to life because it would be very easy to 3D print the designs from the game files and, no offense to the gardening staff, but the fountain areas are genuinely boring in Epcot when it’s not festival season. P l u s certain worlds line up with the nations in Epcot so you could have Arendelle and Agrabah displays in the direction of Norway and Morocco. Like image seeing Destiny Islands near the Japan pavilion- that would be adorable

Brother Bear for the Canada pavillion in Epcot, Treasure Planet in Tomorrow Land (would shake up the blindingly white exterior a bit, and would make a nice and smooth transition over from Fantasy Land), Atlantis in Adventure Land, Home on the Range in Frontier Land, Black Cauldron in Fantasy Land, Tangled could fit either Fantasy Land or the Germany pavillion, Lion King in Animal Kingdom or make a full Africa pavillion in Epcot where the little shops already are and put it there, Sword in the Stone or Robin Hood in the UK pavillion, The Rescuers in the American Pavillion or in a brand new Australian one, the possiblities are endless.

One thing I would LOVE to see is a ride based on Enchanted, especially since the sequel is coming out. A water ride would be a good idea, so we see animatronics singing and we see the tower, maybe with projected faces? So you go from the animates world, then we have a drop like the wishing well with little LED lights like the stars, and then we go to the modern day world. Within the modern day world, I'm not sure what we could have here, maybe the dragon on the tower and the ball scene? Something fun. Then, we go back to the fantasy world and hear one final sing along, maybe "That's how you know" which is a key song. They have the market for it, and I can really see the models with projected faces, and unlike Elsa, it'll work a LOT better. But that's just my opinion :) Honestly after Disenchanted is released I won't be surprised if we get some kind of attraction, especially since it has such a young and old fan base dud to the 10 year gap.

You know what IP's that are really missing from the Disney Parks? The animated TV shows on the Disney Channel.
It would be so awesome to have a dark ride from the Owl House. Stuff like the Grom Dance, Lilith and Eda's fight, and so many more in animatronic form. It could go through places like Hexide, The
Owl House, The Emperor's Castle, Willow's mind. It would be soooooo awesome.
Amphibia, where literally everything is trying to kill you, would make for an awesome thrill ride, or a dark ride where stuff keeps jumping out at you. Wouldn't it be so cool to see Anne and Sasha's sword fights as real animatronics? And the three temples would be such cool settings.
Gravity Falls is one of Disney's most popular shows of all time. How is there not at least a Mystery Shack souvenir shop? Seeing Weirdmageddon as a scene in a dark ride would be so trippy. It would be bright and loud, like Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin. Also, an animatronic Bill Cipher is something I really want to see. Like, it would be terrifying. maybe they'll rename it to Gravity Fall's Scary Adventure or something.
DuckTales is something that would be so easy to do. All you need is just one episode, or a completely new story. With the Duck family's many adventures, just choose one and do that story. I would probably do something like "The Living Mummies of Toth-Ra", "McMystery and McDuck McManor", "Day of the Only Child", "Most Dangerous Game Night", "Nightmare on Killmotor Hill", or "The Lost Harp of Mervana". There are so many episodes that could stand on their own, without needing to give much context. It's practically built for a dark ride in Adventure Land.
Phineas and Ferb, arguably the most well known Disney Channel show, is literally about building theme park rides. They made soooo many in the show, just choose one. I would personally do the Coolest Coaster Ever, and play instrumentals from "Rollercoaster: the Musical". Honestly, they should just make a whole Phineas and Ferb Land sticking out of Disney World, with the entrance being a giant replica of the Flynn-Fletcher house, and that iconic tree at the far end of land. That would be so perfect!
Also, if they ever make a Tangled dark ride, when they are wandering around Corona, there'd better be a Cassandra and a Varian animatronic in the background. Like, that just has to happen.
Anyways, that's what I personally think is missing from the Disney Parks. This comment was a lot longer than I meant it to be. Congratulations if you actually made it to the end.

My pitch (which is kind of ruined if the Play Pavilion is still going through) would be to turn the old Wonder of Life pavilion into a "Wakanda Cultural Outreach Center," which would be a kind of halfway mix between Future World and World Showcase ideas. You get cool futuristic tech demo stuff (play it up like "this is the tech that Wakanda is helping bring to the rest of the world" as you show off some actual cutting edge technology like Epcot used to do) *and* African cultural representation (that they should showcase as the actual cultures, not pretending it's Wakandan - as in, explicitly call out that it's Igbo or Maasai or whichever other culture they're showcasing. Make up some fluff about how it's shared heritage with Wakanda, or that Wakanda got it from those cultures if they really need to).
With all the space in the back where Cranium Command and Body Wars used to be, you have room for a new E-ticket. I would aim for something either more on the thrilling side (maybe a ride system like the Spider-Man ride at Universal?) or something more interactive (maybe a ride system like the Spider-Man ride at DCA?).
I think this would tick all the boxes, you'd get a popular Marvel IP in the park (which I believe they should have access to, since it's just Wakanda they'd be adding and not anything Black Panther specific), you don't have to sacrifice the edutainment/future technology vision of what Epcot is meant to be, and you get more world cultures (and the food that comes with it) just like adding another World Showcase pavilion.

i've thought for a while that additional IP representation could be done by adding in easter eggs to existing rides instead of necessarily making all new ones, especially if there's just no room or too little funding for them. particularly, maybe the Heart of Tefiti could make an appearance in the lagoon sequence of Submarine Voyage and having a version of "Trashin' the Camp" from _Tarzan_ playing on Jungle Cruise at the scene of the gorillas wrecking the camp. i've also thought that maybe the holiday overlays for Haunted Mansion could be up for as long as they are but are actually cut into two halves, the first half actually in the timeframe of Halloween being dedicated to _Coco_ instead and _Nightmare Before Christmas_ of course being in the actual Christmas timeframe.

Steeple chase coaster: Ichabod’s Sleepy Hallow, indoor dark ride in the spot of where liberty square was going to be, as part of main st.

Emperor's New Groove rollercoaster, but with a tongue-in-cheek ending where you pass through a hall of mirrors a la the end of Haunted Mansion and see what animal you've been tranformed into.

I've wanted dark rides for The Lion King and Aladdin (and a rollercoaster for Ezma's lab) ever since I was a kid. I'm honestly surprised Lilo and Stitch doesn't have a ride yet either (not counting Stitch's Great Escape, because that attraction was more of a show than a ride).

And for IPs you didn't mention, I would LOVE to see Tomorrowland Speedway updated/ rethemed to Sugar Rush from Wreck-It Ralph. It would look awesome right there on the edge of Fantasyland and that ride could really use an upgrade/ update.
I already mentioned this, but retheme Three Caballeros inside the pyramid in Mexico to Coco and upgrade the leftover Small World dolls to more modern skeleton animatronics or trickery of any kind, really. I like the current ride, but the movie is barely a step above unknown and Coco pulls in pretty much everyone of every age. The crowd goes absolutely crazy during Remember Me in Harmonious.
Inside Out: I don't currently have any ideas on making this a ride, but I am immensely jealous that Disneyland gets the Bing Bong candy store and Florida is all Toy Story everywhere and very little of my personal favorite Pixar and Disney movie. I would want to see something different than a slow-moving vehicle that goes through animatronics, dark trackless ride, or boat ride, but would want it to feel like and suit the movie it's based on.

Nightmare Before Christmas Ride: Put it in Hollywood Studios instead. I imagine it like Haunted Mansion, as stated. Hollywood Studios could use an all-ages slow-moving people eating constant load ride like that. Put it where the Launch Bay is over there tucked behind the Little Mermaid Show. The fascade would look like Halloweentown, of course, with maybe a few trees to separate out the Disney Junior building next door. Move the character meet and greets for Star Wars over into either Batoo itself or go ahead with plans to absorb all of the Muppet area and convert the entire strip from Galaxy's Edge through Star Tours into Star Wars land and pop an all new Launch Bay over in PizzaRizzo or one of the other buildings over there....
Hercules Ride: Absolutely under no circumstances does Epcot need yet ANOTHER boat ride in that immediate area around the middle of World Showcase and World Celebration. That area is right near Mexico, which has a boat ride, which is next to Norway, which has another boat ride, which is not far from The Land, where there is yet one more BOAT RIDE. I'm not even counting the boat that takes you across the lake. Hercules ride could be in a Greece area where you mentioned, but instead this: a clone of Flight of Passage themed to riding a pegasus and set in the world of Hercules, perhaps flying through battles with the monsters around Greece and ending after battling the Titans and rescuing Megara from Hades or some similar action.
Same problems with Tangled boat ride in Germany. Any of the Parks outside of Magic Kingdom could use another rollercoaster. Retheme Rock N Rollercoaster, maybe. To Tangled? I'm not so sure. This would work better with Emperor's New Groove, but that spot over in Launch Bay is still a viable place for Tangled instead of Nightmare Before Christmas.
Emperor's New Groove: YES, as a coaster or it's a solid replacement for Three Caballeros (though Coco will always be my number one choice for this ride to retheme to). Inside that Aztec pyramid is a perfect location for either of these options, though. (And I agree that more Patrick Warburton is a major YES!!!)
Encanto: yes, but put it where the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse is or take over the entire Tom Sawyer Island. Send some foot traffic that way. Looking on a map, it appears that Swiss Family would be too small a spot to put much of anything, but what even is Tom Sawyer Island if not a waste of space? I've never even gone over there. Still speaking on space, there doesn't look to be a lot of it in Magic Kingdom that isn't far off the current paths...
As for Parks in general, I'd say that Animal Kingdom is in MOST DESPERATE need of new rides. It's harder to fit some of these IPs over into that specific Park, though. Maybe the Hercules ride, but they certainly wouldn't need another Flight of Passage type ride in the same Park.
I love your idea for Sorcerer's Apprentice. Suits Hollywood Studios most closely, but would work really anywhere, especially Fantasyland. Not a fan of Hunchback or the idea of a drop tower themed to the movie. Yes yes yes to another drop tower like Tower of Terror, just no to the Hunchback of Notre Dame theming.

If Disney had kept their contract with Ghibli, there could have possibly been a Studio Ghibli style attraction at one of the Tokyo Disney parks. Like imagine going through Howl's Castle, or the spirit world of Spirited Away which is a LITTERAL AMUSEMENT PARK!!! That would have been amazing!

I think a wakanda land at animal kingdom could work really well, have a vibranium train themed coaster and a huge panther statue

I think a dark ride based on "The Jungle Book" would be a nice addition to Animal Kingdom.
